This place is honestly the best. The all the service is amazing, but we have become close with Amanda who is so warm, helpful and always makes our experience incredible!!! I honestly don't know why anyone goes anywhere else. My wife and I bring all our friends and family here when they come to visit and have yet to have a bad experience. If you are basic and can't handle what they have to offer I suggest going to cafe Jolie down the street, where their eggs are dry and bland. read more

Stopped in for lunch yesterday and along with water, we were presented with dirty glassware. My friend ordered a salad with grilled chicken. Our server forgot the chicken and finally brought it when my friend was on the last bites of her salad. A good restaurant would have offered to take the chicken off our bill, but that didn't happen. The greens on my own salad were yellow and obviously past their prime. Home fries were overcooked. The restaurant was not at all crowded, so there was no excuse for this lazy service and poor food. Customers should not have to ask for clean glasses and complete meals. read more

Brunch is the best. I keep getting the same egg dish because they do their breakfast potatoes and salad so perfectly. I've gotten the french toast as well, which was just right. Excellent food, nice server, lovely decor/atmosphere. Will definitely be back again. Came here on a Sunday around midday for brunch as a group of 5. Hostess sat us in about 15 minutes which I consider fast for a large group. Very nice and spunky server came by quickly to take our orders (without writing them down which I always find impressive). How can I give this place a 5 star rating? My girlfriend and I had never been there before, and were seeing and eating their food for the first time. Was it just the fact that I had one of the most memorable birthday brunches I can remember? Yes, it was. All the elements added up to my rating--atmosphere, quality and presentation. The atmosphere was not necessarily out of this world--but it was pleasant, open feeling, and the outside seating very nice on a lazy, temperate early Sunday afternoon. The employees mirrored their environment. And my Chocolate Lab got to sit at my feet and have her usual tidbits of this wonderful breakfast. I ordered the Biscuit Benedict, my partner The Neptune Burger. Both orders came out so nicely presented we were amazed. The colors of the food and the garnishes including the little blossoms on top were out of the ordinary, to say the least, in a restaurant at this price level. The burger had a nice, lightly toasted Brioche bun and came with a lightly spiced mayo. Good burger meat and Swiss, plus all the garnishes including pickled onions rated a very good burger from my partner. Color even seemed to be added to the fries in the form of parsley. An unusually colorful burger plate. But my choice, the Biscuit Benedict surprised me. The intense yellow color of the Hollandaise (a nicely spiced tasty version) over the white poached eggs garnished over with little purple flowers, aside the green side salad (side salad with breakfast food--quite good!) was quite a bright plate--I'm sorry I did not take a picture of it. But what further surprised me about the plate was that a third or more was taken up by the home fries--not Grandma's version by any means. At least not my Grandma. There were white potatoes with both orange and purple sweet potatoes diced small and uniformly fried perfectly with a wonderful seasoning. I am not normally a home fries person, preferring hash browns and liberally ketchup-ing and Tabasco-ing my taters. But these colorful home fries were so tasty, I just lightly Crystal hot-sauced them and loved them. The price was not bad for the Benedict, but I did want some meat of some kind and, it seemed the only *true* breakfast meat was the bacon side offered for $3 more. Heck, it was my birthday, so add the bacon, and according to the menu, for $3 more more, I could have avocado. Add that too. The avocado and crisp bacon added even more color and texture to the plate--and to our surprise the two $3 add-ons only cost $4 together. Beneath the poached eggs, as stated on the menu, was sauteed Kale. I had some doubt about that, and asked also for sauteed onions (no problem!). The Kale was excellent under those eggs. I asked for a small extra side of the Hollandaise and was graciously served it. If there was a negative to the whole plate it was only that the biscuit seemed a bit hard, but that was lost under everything else... It was not your normal run-of-the-mill type breakfast--and I enjoyed every bite of it. Oh, and finally the coffee. It was a very good drip coffee with a distinct coffee aroma and taste--not strong and overpowering; not weak and watery. As I said, I've only been there the one time and have only tasted a couple of items, but I saw other dishes go by whose presentations matched ours and no doubt taste and quality did too. (the wine reduction and mussels over the french fries caught my eye as well the pancake and fruit dishes) Once again a most memorable birthday breakfast and I won't hesitate to go back...even though I live an hour or more away... read more

Decided to try Neptune's for brunch on the recommendation of a good friend. I was not disappointed- good call, Ms Gogo! I had the standard breakfast with eggs over medium - they were perfectly done. The bacon was delectable (and I love the oink oink !), with an eye-opening breakfast salad (never thought about having a small salad with breakfast - what an amazing idea [or maybe I'm just behind the times]). The jam for the bread looked homemade and was super delish! I will be back and will bring friends. read more

The ambience was nice and the food wasn't too bad overall. However, there was a hair in one of the dishes that they served; and the way in which they handled the situation was truly disappointing. They took the plate away and removed a huge portion of the dish without replacing it or offering any sort of consolation or commiseration. And just through speculation, I believe my sister and I received this treatment due to the fact that we were young and therefore easily "duped". read more

My Benedict has two "poached" eggs, one that was totally over done and one that was not cooked enough to even eat. No one asked how the food was and the general service was not good. Didn't have the greatest customer service though, staff didn't interact a lot with us and just seemed to wanna get us in and out as fast as possible. Lots of options on the menu and the chai latte was super delicious. Wouldn't recommend the avocado toast unless you are a fan of seaweed. read more

This place is clean and ambiance nice. My third time here and staff not always the most friendly. The waffles (including kids waffle), is great. Pork sausage silog is really good but imitates more of a loco moco taste. Mocha is wonderful! The reason for not giving more stars: staff could be friendlier and more welcoming (1st visit waitress was dry and seemed impatient). Lastly, my pregnant sister ordered the chicken and waffles and the chicken was VERY undercooked! Huge no no. Was very raw inside. I noticed others posted about undercooked food. Cooks should be experienced and trained. The topper, they asked if she wanted something else, and still charged her for the new item (after having to wait awhile because they were busy). Ok the 4* is for the amazing amazing food. Delicious. The place is cool too and the waitress was very nice as well. The wait was about an hour (Sunday 9am) and a little bit disorganized so I'd say go with extra patience. Also the coffee was cold. I rather have a hot coffee than one with an super fancy art illustration on it. It looked great but... cold. That's something they can improve. But the food, oh boy it was great! read more

Their fried chicken is also quite moist and they use some very nice chicken in their fried chicken. This is one of my favorite brunch spots in the Bay Area. I have tried numerous items on the menu including the burger, waffles, omelette, salad, and of course, their delicious coffee. My wife tried the shrimp and grits today, which was phenomenal and exactly what she was hoping for. The beautiful blue interior gives the restaurant a nice cozy feel. And of course, the outdoor patio is a great spot if you want to bring your fur child. The food and service has been consistently on point. Neptune's definitely over-delivered with respect to both food quality and great service during a lunch where I met my girlfriend's parents for the first time. Needless to say, it was an important meal, and having a great venue to help break the ice with my future in-laws was a must-have for this gathering. I had the chicken and waffles while my girlfriend ordered a Filipino-Hawaiian-inspired chili (the name is escaping me now). She also ordered a side of Lumpia, which was essentially a sausage egg roll. Everything was delicious and was served promptly, even sooner than we expected, which was surprising given there wasn't an empty table in the place around noon on a Tuesday. We never mind waiting for good food but this certainly didn't merit the wait or the poor customer service. even after asking to check on our food because the table behind us was half way done with their meal, the next table behind us received their meal while we waited. The explanation was 'gosh, golly. Don't know what happened, printer problem' We had watched during the 25 minute wait while the front house staff cleared multiple tables at once, let them sit empty then seated 4 tables simultaneously. Today I stopped in for lunch, after waiting and trying to anticipate when the soft opening would be, I was pleasantly surprised! The decore is simple, yet fits the theme. I sat out on the patio which is comfortable because of the canopy over the tables. I ordered the Savory bacon waffle with the tomato jam. I was concerned it would not be enough. Again, I was pleasantly surprised by the portion, and everything worked well together. STAY AWAY!! Terrible customer service. Been here multiple times and tried to take my mom who's visiting from out of town. Waited in the front for 20 minutes while multiple staff walked by and ignored us, then had someone come out and say "Oh, we just closed". If you were doing your job and were there to greet guests we were there BEFORE you closed. To make no attempt at communication (we can do an abbreviated menu) and to act as if it was our fault is outlandish. I came in for a quick bunch while running errands and was craving for some chicken and waffles. The place was very cute and bit rustic looking and was greeted immediately by the servers. The server was very informative about the chicken and waffle and how it had a Japanese take to it. The chicken was cooked really well, it was juicy and favorable. However, I wasn't a fan of the waffle, it was dry and bit like a scone than a waffle. The syrup was interesting it wasn't too sweet but probably need a kick more favor or extra syrup to balance out that waffle. Overall, it was pretty good. read more

Love love love this cute place near the beach in Alameda. We can bring our dog and sit in the shaded outdoor patio. And after eating, we can walk down the block to Crab Cove park and take a stroll along the great paths by the beach. The food is wonderful- we had the standard breakfast of 2 eggs with bacon and hash browns and also the sweet waffle. Deelicious! Everything was freshly made and beautifully plated. The waffle was a work of art with fresh fruit, honey, ricotta, and almonds. We'll be back to try more of their menu! Update: came back for breakfast and this time had the Persian Frittata and the Shrimp and Grits. More deliciousness!! Very disappointed in the food quality and especially service. Granted we went soon after they opened, but there were only 4 other tables filled. After being seated it took about 15 minutes to be approached. Had to flag down people to ask for water and take our orders as well as for the bill. Being from the south, I obviously spotted the chicken and waffles. Who, in their right mind, serves chicken WITH BONES with waffles?!?! It's a fork/knife dish together. I opted for a sandwich. The piece of beef was complete tendon/gristle, I couldn't even take a bite. Nobody returned to our table, I had to get up and find someone to alert them. They were not happy about me saying anything, both mgr and chef were acting as if I was completely inconveniencing them. They ended up replacing HALF the sandwich because it appeared I'd eaten the other half. I was looking for meat. My mother ordered the grits. They were so watery that she had to pour the water into a cup to be able to eat. When we finally got the bill, I was charged for two meals (plus my mothers). When questioned, they argued that I ordered two including the inedible one. I ended up having to still pay for my replacement meal. I will never return to this restaurant unless it's free. Tip: order lots of water or bring your own, unless you don't mind blatantly inconveniencing them for refill. Also, again; bones in chicken&waffles ?!?! Pro: location. read more

I've wanted to try this place for awhile and so looked forward to having lunch there today with a friend. The meals we ordered were pretty good and arrived quickly. All was going well until a young man working at the place loudly screamed at the remaining patrons to hurry up and pay our bills and get out because the restaurant was already closed. I literally can't think of another time I was treated so rudely. I asked the guy's name on the way out that yelled at us and found out it was Will. I'm hoping the owners read this. What a great find on Yelp.! We wanted to try something different from our usual breakfast places so checked on Yelp. The menu was interesting and diverse, something to please the traditionalists and the more adventuresome. Mom loves waffles and the kids menu had the plain one she wanted and the waiter said that menu was for kids of all ages. The rest of us each tried different menu items from Shrimp and Grits to Biscuit Benedict and Farmers Scramble. All were delicious! The potatoes used a variety of potatoes (white,yellow,purple) that created a flavorful medley. The biscuit was moist and flavorful in the Benedict and I loved the addition of sautéed kale. The side of fresh green salad made for the Benedict and scramble made the brunch seem more healthy. Service was friendly and attentive and our coffee mugs were never empty. Let me start by saying that I'm extremely disappointed in this establishments lack of Customer Service. I've come here before and I had a great experience wait time wasn't bad at all and everything was fine. Fast forward to this morning, myself and 4 friends arrived at 10:45am expecting a 25 min. Wait because our party was FIVE people, 45 min later my friend asked the host what was taking so long and he crossed out the number 5 on his list and wrote 3 and said my friend only told him there were 3 people in the group which was definitely a lie. He then said "well she said there was 3 people, not 5, so it'll be 25 more minutes". Approx 2 min later this SOB (son of a bitch) seats his group of 3 friends in a booth that clearly was big enough for 5 people (I knew they were friends by the way the conversed/hugged etc). We waited over an hour for terrible customer service, no seating, no apology and no valid explanation as to why we waited so long. The host was the Asian guy with the man bun btw so be prepared to basically get called a liar and wait an hour to take a seat. The one star is for the good food I had LAST TIME I actually got eat here a few weeks ago. Smh read more
