Drip coffee: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 5 Passion Fruit Donut We were in town for a soccer match and I needed to grab an early morning coffee while the team was doing their warm-ups. I checked out for a good look of coffee shop and it steered me in this direction. I was there about 8:30 AM on a Saturday morning. There was a decent crowd inside and a small street market at the end of the block. There are a couple tables inside, a few more out front, and a lovely garden sitting area in the back. I was promptly greeted by Steve, or was it Jim? He was wearing a Howler tee. We had some quick banter about the pastries, his tee and my hat. He was friendly, expedient, and professional... Definitely the kind of service that helps create a customer base of regulars. I had come in about 15 minutes earlier to get the drip coffee and someone else helped me out. While they were efficient, they weren't very friendly or engaging. Unfortunately that's what qualifies I was regular service these days. They drip coffee was a medium roast. It was a perfect time and had a nice balance of flavor and acidity. After checking out the offerings at the market I decided to return to the coffee shop to get myself a breakfast treat, having mistaken a passion fruit donut for what I thought was a coffee donut. I had not had a passionfruit donut before, but I decided to give it a shot. Oh my gods. This thing was insanely delicious. At the first bite the filling erupted, offering the sweet flavors of a passion fruit in a crème form. I will aim to keep this review PG, but suffice it to say if a donut could be erotic this was it. If you ever need a donut for a date, THIS is the one.
I don't understand why a small coffee is $4.50. I brought my own refillable mug which she so kindly filled and was gonna charge me $5.50 but I told her just give me less and I'll do $4.50. The coffee isn't organic. There's nothing significantly different about it. But I was there so I purchased the coffee. They have this cashless system. I'm wondering if that's why their products are so much more than other coffee shops. So when I'm paying $4.50 for a regular small coffee I expect all the amenities: turbinado, sugar, or raw sugar, honey, cinnamon, nutmeg, etc. But they just had the regular plain sugar out which I don't like it all. It actually causes me to have a reaction cause it's so depleted. I saw no honey in sight. So I asked and luckily, she gave me some honey that they had behind the counter. I felt bad because it was almost empty, but I got what I needed for my coffee. She said she gave me a little bit extra coffee since I'm using a refillable mug, which was nice. That's the two stars. I will not come here again. I have been wanting to try it out because this shop has been here a few years and it was close to my work today. But $4.50 for a coffee when I can get better quality organic coffees for on average three dollars and at one of my favorite spots in Oakland for $1.50! Maybe this cashless thing is making things more expensive. With this economy especially, I think it'd be better to go back to cash and pay lower prices. Some pluses, nice seating area outside in back and in front, compostable utensils and packaging, good looking pastries ... though I didn't dare ask the cost of those.
I really like the people that work at the signal coffee. I stopped in when I was at the farmers market because I really wanted to paste drink coffee sadly they didn't have many pastries left just a jalapeño scone, which sounded terrible to me even though it looked very good and one other thing the ambience was cool and I love that they had a clean bathroom and a really nice backyard oasis to enjoy your coffee in. Parking is a little bit tricky on Webster Street, but you can find it on the side streets.
I Always get a dirty chai here. A treat since it's pricey! Got a cinnamon roll and crème brûlée donut. The coffee is 5 star while the pastries are 3 stars.
Stopped in for a Mexican Mocha while in the neighborhood. It was delicious! The space was quaint and full. I liked the coffee theme wallpaper that's on the wall! I will return again, likely for another Mexican mocha soon.
The coffee had really great flavor, but we were a bit disappointed that it wasn't served as hot as we requested. We came in closer to closing time, so we understand the team was getting ready to wrap up, but the customer service felt a little rushed. Since we were still paying customers, we expected a bit more politeness and attention. Overall, the coffee itself was decent, but the experience could have been warmer -- both in temperature and in service. Have a really cute outdoor space to work throughout the day . I wish they would expand their hours.
Tiffany, the barista, who always makes my drinks is amazing. She makes me feel welcomed and always knows my orders. I might be biased, but I only prefer her as my barista. Pastries are amazing- I highly recommend. Kelsey is an amazing pastry chef and her baked goods proves her amazing talent! Overall, a solid cafe. Great staff. Great coffee. Great food. Vibes are high. Stay blessed everyone and go get yourself a cup of coffee from Signal (ask for Tiffany)
Cute local coffee shop. There are seatings inside and they provide wifi so it seems like a great place to get work done. They also have a outdoor patio area in the back, which looks like a nice, relaxing hangout spot. I got a black sesame latte, which is their signal espresso with choice of milk and their housemade black sesame syrup. I thought the black sesame flavor was not enough and the coffee flavor wasn't strong either. I would come back to give other drinks a try and to chill in the outdoor patio area.
Good coffee shop that also serves some bagels and pastries. There's a patio area in the back with more seating. I grabbed a coffee to go and it was tasty and satisfying

There is an outdoor seating area which isn't made apparent at first glance. I think it makes this place a hidden gem. The staff were nice and quick to make my drink. Nice interior and garden. I'll be back!
Was walking to the food place my friend and I decided to get lunch at when we walked past this coffee shop. After eating lunch, we went back to this and tried their Ube Latte. I've been in search of a good Ube Latte but sadly this didn't meet the taste that I'm looking for an Ube Latte. I like the patio at the back. It' was quiet when we came and it's also has a cozy vibe.

I was in Alameda, CA for the day and decided to try out this coffee shop. I was in a cute little part of town and it was a bit difficult to find parking but after circling around a bit, I was able to find metered street parking about 2 blocks away from SIGNAL Coffee Roasters. It was a Saturday afternoon and there were some people inside the cafe doing some work. I stopped by with my dog who was in her dog bag and the worker was kind enough to let me order my drink without having to leave my dog outside! I ordered an Iced Black Sesame Latte with Oatmilk. 10/10. Everything was perfectly balanced! The coffee flavor was there but also the sesame flavor. Super refreshing! There were also some seating outside the coffee shop. Not too many but it is still available! Overall, great and friendly service, quick service, and great coffee! I would highly recommend if you wanted a quick stop for some craft coffee! read more

A great addition to this street. Service was nice, they have a restroom here, and a patio out back. Opted for their mango iced tea. It's a puree in a store bought container, not freshly made, but tasted great. Bar was clean. Drink was out quick. read more

Their bag of beans has ruined other coffee for me. We got the Guatemala honey ~35$ for a 12 oz bag but it's sooooo good. Even brewing our prior favs back to back with this one makes it a standout. I don't know why this place isn't more popular but don't buy up all my beans please lol It's a small store front with paid street parking which isn't the easiest on weekends but worth it to grab a bag. I love finding cute coffee shops when traveling! Signal Coffee Roasters was the first stop we hit to be caffeinated for the rest of our SF trip. I love the fun variety of flavors; we ordered an ube latte and black sesame latte. The purple in the ube latte was so vibrant without tasting extremely artificial. The black sesame didn't stand out as much as the ube latte, as the flavor was a but too subtle for my liking. Overall, both were solids lattes, though I was looking forward to more fun latte art. The vibes were cozy and comfortable. Wait time for our drinks was reasonable. There was a nice outdoor seating area in the back. read more
I'm surprised by my own review as I really thought I would give more stars. We came on a Sunday early afternoon and ordered the Matcha latte and the black sesame latte Pros: both drinks were served very hot, which is my favorite! Black sesame latte had a very good coffee flavor with a perfect sweetness level. Cons: the black sesame latte did not taste like black sesame at all. It tasted like a regular coffee latte. The matcha latte barely tasted like matcha and was very, very weak. It also was not sweetened enough. Would not return for either of these two drinks which was a bummer because I was very hopeful. read more

The coffee is strong and the food is filling. Two dangerous things for me! I tried the iced Mexican Mocha, the Ricotta and Jam open faced sandwich, and the chocolate croissant. That croissant was HUGE! I wished the toast had more jam on it, but otherwise, it was pretty good. The workers were helpful and patient -- it was my first time visiting so I had some questions. Parking was kind of difficult to find though. I went on a Tuesday morning, and it looks like the Farmer's Market happens nearby around that time. read more
A cute lil coffee shop in Alameda! I was staying with my friend that lives in the area and this is one of her go-to coffee shops so we decided to stop by as a lil morning break to grab some morning brekkie & sips. I ended up getting the miso egg salad toast because it's not something you'll ever see in a FL coffee shop and it sounds soooo good. It was as good as it sounds and was true to the name. If you like miso and egg salad, you'll love this toast! Of course, I got the matcha latte but opted to try the burnt honey version because I think it was seasonal and wanted to try something different. I wasn't the biggest fan of the flavor but still loved the matcha. This small and quaint coffee shop is definitely a fav of mine and would recommend if you're ever in the area! I was in town for work and I'm very glad I found this place! Tried the Ube and was not disappointed, it has a subtle sweet potato taste and was great! We also ordered a classic cappuccino and the barista did an excellent job on the foam, especially after I dipped my croissant in it . The selection of coffees and knick knacks was great, I think I'll be back to order the hochija and a chocolate croissant, and buy a bag of beans! Also the seating was really cool! Nothin too big inside or out but the seating outside in form of the famous alameda theatre was really cool! read more
Stopped by here on a Sunday. Have always wanted to try the Ube Latte so that's what I ordered. It was so good! Creamy foam with the perfect Ube taste mixed with espresso. Can't wait to come back and try other drinks on their menu. They also have a variety of pastries if you're wanting something to eat as well. This location is closest to my house and I love coming here on my walks. Usually, because I have the baby, I order online to do a quick grab and go. My coffee is usually ready 7-10 minutes after I put the order in which is perfect from my home to their To-Go shelf! The staff is very friendly and sweet. They remember my very long name and the drinks are GOOD, especially when I need some extra energy with their espresso shots. My fave go-to drinks are The Dulce de Leche Latte and the Mexican Mocha. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The outside patio in the back is beautiful and lush with plants! Lots of room. There are always people working on their laptops inside and outside. It is quiet but not too quiet, which for me is great. I appreciate that ambiance. I'm loving these Signal locations!! read more

I'm not sure what all this cashless business is about. What happens if you don't have a credit or debit card? So the disadvantaged can't buy coffee here? Their money should be as good as anyone else's. Cash has worked really well for a long time. Are you businesses afraid of your employees stealing from you? If you can't trust them don't hire them. It is incrementalism to get us to a cashless society and when it happens people are going to ask, "how'd this happen?". Well I'll tell you. It happened in plain sight. So about the coffee.... My partner had a great cold brew. I'm old school and went with a black coffee. I know hella boring. Seats on the sidewalk, seats inside and a really nice patio in the back. Overall nice but I just don't agree with the cashless policy. My partner edited this. I was much harsher regarding the cashless nonsense. read more

Love spending my morning after farmer's market shopping with my kids! We love the little patio seating in the back! Great selection for the pastry! Love the potato focaccia and ube muffins with a cup of cappuccino! read more
