Mohka House is on MacArthur Blvd in the Dimond District of Oakland. They have a very large space as coffee shops go with great decorations. I've had their Yemeni Coffees/Lattes with the different spices, e.g. Cardamon, etc. The staff turn those drinks around quickly even when it's busy and if you ask for "for here" they will put it in some nice cups. They have a bakery section with a wide range of baklava and other pastries. I've had their hazelnut and walnut baklava, as well as their Malawa Cookies which were all really good. No offense to those who like Starbucks, but these days I prefer these less generic and comfortable coffee experience.. Mohka House provides that.

Adeni tea and gluten free lemon tart

This cute little Yemeni cafe is tucked away in the Dimond district. I liked the choice of drinks (caffeinated, non-caffeinated, coffee, tea) and the snack choices (even 6 gluten free desserts). Tried Adeni tea and lemon tart. The tea was piping hot (burned my tongue) and reminded me of a hong Kong coffee/ tea combo minus the sugar) but the lemon tart helped. I liked the seating area (adjustable arm cushions, cute round tables). My friend and I hung out and enjoyed our snacks. The bathroom was clean!

Cute little tea shop tucked away in Oakland. We stopped by and tried their spicy chicken fatayar and sesame pastry w/honey along with the Qishr (non-caffeinated, coffee husk spiced tea). The spicy chicken fatayar packs quite a punch and was a little more spicy than we'd expected, but flavorful nonetheless. The sesame pastry was nice and flaky - a light treat to go along with the Qishr. The Qishr is a mildly coffee and spice flavored drink. I liked it since I wanted a break from caffeine that day. Lots of street parking available and they offer indoor and outdoor seating. Service was friendly and efficient.

Finding this spot was a bit tricky. It was blocked by one of those make shift outdoor dining structures made during COVID haha. The place had a good amount of people it. I found the interior a bit dark. Not a place I'd like to hang out at and chat with a friend. My kid saw they had a tiramisu latte. We decided to get it... dang social media haha. The drink itself looked good. But unfortunately didn't meet our coffee needs. It tasted a bit watered down and the coffee itself wasn't really strong. I wouldn't make a trip out here just for that drink. Maybe their other drinks are great?

Sabaya, Spicy Chicken Fatayer

We stopped by this spot for a snack after a hike. Ordered a pot of the Adeni chai, a sabaya and the spicy chicken fatayer. The tea was creamy and aromatic. The spicy chicken fatayer had a nice kick. Finally the sabaya was perfectly flaky and sweetened. Will definitely be coming back here to try the other pastries when we are in the area.

Cozy cafe in diamond district with indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is hit or miss. Will say that it does get pretty loud in here with the background music and many people having full blown conversations. I ordered a baklava and Adeni chai tea. The baklava was okay. The tea came out piping hot (be careful!) and tasted ok felt like it could have used more spices.

Hella good! It's been months, but the service is always great, plenty of spots to sit at, and so-far many people on their laptops - which means...good wifi!! Pastries were delicious, I recommend the tomato one picture below. It does have olives, so if you're not an olive person, become one Music is still kept light, and they work fast to get you drink ready to go.

Had the qishir and sabaya. The sabaya was flaky and delicious.

Had the qishir and sabaya. The sabaya was flaky and delicious. Needed to do some classwork on a Sunday evening was easy to find a seat but surprisingly also not empty. Chairs, couches and furniture was in good condition. Internet was spotty but ok for light browsing. Parking can be found south around the corner from Peet's. Definitely recommend!

I took my order to go because it was my first time visiting, and I wasn't sure what the seating situation would be. Next time I will definitely stay. Spacious, comfy, nice decor, friendly vibe. I got a mocha house latte with maple syrup which was small but delicious, as well as two great Yemeni pastries. Since there are so many pictures of the food, here are two of the gender-neutral rest room, which is clean, not bad aesthetically, and mercifully does not require a key or code to enter. Make sure you knock first. There was no hand soap in the dispenser, which was a minus, but not enough to take away from the full experience.

Stopped by Mohka House in Oakland and honestly really liked it. The spot is owned and run by two brothers, which gives it a chill, personal vibe. We went mainly for drinks and tried a latte, tiramisu latte, and a Spanish latte. The tiramisu latte and Spanish latte were both really good and definitely my favorites. Smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. You can tell the coffee quality is solid. We also tried the matcha drinks in vanilla and strawberry. I liked the strawberry matcha more. It comes unsweetened, so I asked for it to be sweetened and it was great after that. The vanilla matcha was fine too, just not my top pick. They're also dropping a new Ramadan drink soon, a date latte, which sounds really good and I'll probably come back just to try that. Overall, great drinks and a nice place to hang out.

Honey comb bread and Mini Baklava

Staff was friendly. Got a mini baklava and a slice of their honey comb bread warmed up to eat. Cute interior with padded sofas and tables and chairs. The coffee and milk tea pots looked really good too, will have to try it next time. Honey comb bread is def better warmed up. Lots of honey. Very unique flavor. The baklava was pretty sweet and fresh.

This cute neighborhood Yemeni coffee shop is really a gem here in Oakland. I came here to grab some coffee and pastries for friends and it was definitely a treat dropping by. Their Mohka House Latte was a fragrant blend of cardamon and cinnamon. They offer non-dairy options such as oat milk which was perfect for me. The latte was made very well and I don't think coffee very often, and even I was able to really enjoy the drink. I loved seeing so many vegan friendly options as well. Their chocolate chip cookie was divine with sea salt and sesame, and easily sharable too. They had a very other vegan friendly options that were also clearly marked. I'd love to drop by again to really enjoy the space. It is gorgeous inside and one I think they should be very proud of for doing.

Loved this place! Came in the morning to get some work done and I was really impressed with the space. It has outlets, great drink and snack options, and a clean bathroom. The guy who took my order, Humza, was very nice and accommodating. I'll be back!

The staff was so sweet and helpful, they convinced me to try something new (my usual is the viet salt coffee). My friend got the banana milk latte and we're thinking about it now. I felt pumped throughout the day and it was also the best way to start my morning, Interior is nice, parking could be rough (I went at 7:30am when they opened and it was full but probs cause everyone was sleeping in :((( ).

House of Phin with egg cream, definitely the star of the show. Great Vietnamese coffee. Mango dragonfruit lemonade, even though it was fresh, it was just average. Would say Raising Cane or Aunt Annies has better lemonade. Just didn't taste the mango flavor and the dragonfruit was just okay. Would NOT get this again. Panda no crystal boba with coconut cream was the worst. I love coconut, but this was super sweet and just weird tasting. Like a muddled sweet water with coconut syrup kind of taste. Very odd and I would NOT get this again. So, another failed drink at high prices down the drain. Hard to find parking. Stick with the OG Vietnamese coffee and you should do fine.

The interior makes one feel that you are in a high end cafe with its beautiful decor. Some many items to choose from, the person taking my order was very helpful in explaining the different kinds of drinks and pastries. Ordered the Ginger Honey Jobani as a hot drink, Biscoff Milkcake, Honeycomb, and a Beef Fatayer. There were several kinds of milkcakes which would have the texture like a tres leches cake. The Honeycomb had pockets of cream cheese and was drizzles with honey. The Meat Fatayer is like an empanada. The food and drink were very tasty. Highly recommend to stop by Sanaa Cafe and experience it. Their website shows more cafe openings in the future!
