But I was there for the sushi...and there are plenty of options on the menu. There was an any 3 items for $16.95 but I opted for the Maki B Combo with California roll, tuna roll and salmon roll. Good deal for $13.50 with miso soup. Food came out pretty quick and I liked that there was very little rice used around the California roll. Came here for a sushi snack after reading about the place. Parking is available in the evenings along Commercial, as well as Grandview. During the day, I have no idea where you'd park. Maybe up on the sidewalk. The inside is quite cozy, and nice and quiet. Staff are actually Chinese, not Japanese. With that said, the food is reasonably priced. $6.75 for 3 items (rolls, maki, or cones) and a miso soup. You won't get yourself completely stuffed, but it's a half-decent deal. Love this place! It's a pretty small place but it definitely satifies my cravings!! I've been here at least 5-6 times now? Their takoyaki is yummy!! Their naruto special roll tastes very interesting (I still personally like it) It was a very interesting flavour! It has mango slices in it. I recently tried their salmon sashimi don which was really good! Good service! Whenever I'm at sushi places I look for how often they refill your tea/water -- The lady refilled my tea. I got my food in a span of 10mins or less. I've had their chicken karaage here, and I don't think it came with any sauce and I've tasted better. So for appey I suggest getting the takoyaki or gyzoa! Walked by one Friday afternoon in July to give it a go. Ordered $30 worth of rolls and nigiri and couldn't finish it all. That's a first. The sushi was above average, well presented. Price and quality is good. You get good portions for your $$$. Came every Friday in July as I am in the neighbourhood and was never disappointed. Ordered less than the first visit and left satisfied every time. This is a great place for a quick meal for around $20 for big eaters. For the price......quality and service are right on. Brought my 10 year old for lunch for her opinion. We eat sushi every week and have been to most places. She liked it. The 3 item combo was barely finished by her. It was perfect. My very first experience ordering from this restaurant was great.. I was excited to finally find a good sushi restaurant close to my house and I found the rolls to be delicious and the service to be quite fast. The second time I ordered, they missed including one of my appetizers that I had paid for. They called me and offered to drive it out to me which was nice, but I thought that would be a waste of their time/waste of their drivers time for a $5 appetizer that would likely be cold by the time it arrived to us. So they said they'd issue me a credit under my phone number to discount my next order. Fine, not a big deal. The third time I ordered (last night) will be the last time ordering from Naruto. I ordered a JJ roll amongst another combo roll and upon taking my very first bite of the JJ roll, my teeth bit down on something hard and unpleasant and foreign. I inspected the roll that I had just bit into and found a small PEBBLE. A stone. A rock. In my sushi roll. I was so grossed out that I couldn't eat the rest of the rolls. I could have cracked a tooth, and WHY would there be a freaking pebble in my food? I suggest they be more thorough with their food quality control so this doesn't happen to someone else. read more

Came for takeout awhile ago and was very pleased with the special roll (lauren roll) which had all my favourites for a good price. There was also some tempura bits in the spicy tuna which makes it a little bit oilier than usual but still tasty! Oh goodness, this place is SO GOOD. They have changed the spicy tuna and spicy salmon, and it's not hands-down the best in Vancouver. Spicy tempura bits mixed into the roll instead of the old spicy sauce. I am blown away with how good this tastes. read more

Decent little spot on the drive. The staff was friendly and attentive, the portions were generous and I could not finish what I normally can in another restaurant, so if you come here, be hungry! The nigiri sushi was wonderful since I prefer more fish than rice, everything was fresh and the seaweed was not soggy but nice and crisp. I also liked how they presented the Tuna Tataki and the sauce that went with it. Very pretty. Their rolls are very generous with both filling and the balance of rice when I had the Spicy Salmon roll. I have never been inside the store before and have only ordered delivery. Delivery is free from their website, if you order over $25 and are within a certain radius of their restaurant. The food itself is fairly priced. It is probably considered to be on the cheaper end, definitely worth it if you want good quality sushi that is filling and won't make you go broke. It does not totally stand out among other sushi restaurants around Commercial Drive, but it absolutely is not one you'd want to avoid. If you live around the area and want it to delivered to yourself, even better! I'd say have a try. read more

Yaki soba was delicious, sushi rolls were fresh and sashimi was great. Tuna was a bit frozen. Miso soup must be reheated on the stove if you want it pipping hot. I love this place. I've been coming here since they opened, and I just finished yet another delicious dinner. Naruto is inexpensive and generous with their roll size, and they have two things that I love in particular that keep me coming back: 1). the Lauren roll, which is crab, spicy tuna, and avocado and then I think some crunchy tempura bits inside? The combo of everything together is perfect. 2). the new salmon aburi that isn't a roll; it's their take on oishi sushi. It's cheaper than Kishimoto and Miku, and bigger and just as tasty. I had it a couple of weeks ago and the jalapenos were too big; on the phone tonight I asked if they could make sure the jalapenos were sliced thin and they were. I am a fan of this little hole in the wall for a couple of different reasons. Their sushi is fresh, made well, the service is exceptional and it's so well priced for a sit in and take out joint. Last night I sat in and had a great time to myself. They have a 3 item deal for $10.95 which includes quite an expansive menu which also comes with a miso soup. I ordered the ebi sunomono, prawn tempura and the salmon & avocado roll. The miso was piping which honestly is rare at cheap sushi spots (their usually luke warm and contain zero seaweed/tofu). Next came the tempura, sunomono and salmon & avo roll which all hit the spot. The tempura oil tasted a touch stale but nevertheless I scarfed it down. The roll was THE perfect size. So many cheap sushi joints make the rolls way too girthy to the point where all you're really eating are mounds of rice and one small slice of cucumber and salmon. Stopped in here the other day to satisfy a craving for Sushi! A first timer, I ordered the $8.99 daily special. I ordered the BC Roll, Dynamite Roll, and Spicy Shrimp roll. All of which were very tasty, however, considering that many rolls I would have expected without saying more sauce to go along with it... Getting home and having 20 rolls and just this little tiny bit of sauce is kind of annoying. The ginger I requested was really old and dry/stale as well. I'm super impressed with this sushi joint. It's well priced and good sushi. It started off a little wobbly with some growing pains, but has quickly become one of the best sushi joints in the Comm. Drive area. They have some of the best tempura in town, with the batter light and crispy. They passed my agedashi tofu, scallop and gomae test. scallops were fresh, gomae made in house and agedashi tofu fried perfectly. When they first opened I was concerned because the rolls had way too much rice on them, but they've hit their groove now. On top of this, the hosting staff is super nice and attentive. You get the impression they are focused on quality. The prices are the right range and although I wouldn't classify this in the realm of high end sushi, it's the best in the neighbourhood. We started with edamame, as my honey was practically dead from starvation. Quick and done perfectly. I'm surprised at how little people have written about Naruto! At first glance, it's a small show that caters to the lunch and takeout crowd. While that may be true, I had a great dine-in experience here. Bento boxes, sashimi, sushi combos were all under $10, and no matter how you pair it, salad and miso soup are always included (as they should). I especially loved their tempura in the bento box. The batter and temperature was so perfect, I would give anything to taste the zucchini tempura that melted in my mouth again! Service did get really slow the moment the restaurant filled up. I saw that sashimi slices went from thick 1/2" slices that we got to a more standard 1/4" thick. Nevertheless, great little spot on the Drive to satisfy your urge for sushi! read more

This place is close to my home which is why I like stopping by here if I'm on my way home. I went when they very first opened and my experience was ok, nothing special. I went back again for the second time a few weeks later and the sushi had become a lot better, I think they had just opened so they were just working out the kinks. I have read a few of the other reviews and honestly have to disagree with a few, I think the sushi at this place is quite fresh and the restaurant is a clean simple atmosphere, although I prefer take out. Every time I've been in there since there's people eating or a fair amount of people ordering take out. Would it be my first choice for sushi in Vancouver? maybe not but I think its a lot better then most of the sushi places on commercial drive including Broadway sushi, which was mediocre and I couldn't get over the fact it smelled like mold in there. read more

A very tiny sushi spot tucked in a few doors down from Bandida's, beside the alley. I stopped by for lunch a week after it opened and it did not disappoint. The place is very clean, with nicely laid out tables. Service and food was fast and the sushi was quite good for the price. I only tried two rolls, which were on the large side (too much rice) but will be back to try some other menu items. They passed my gomae test with flying colours. My theory is that if a Japanese restaurant can't make good gomae, it's a bad sign (mostly I try to avoid the bottled sauce and mushy spinach efforts). We used the app "Skip the Dishes" which is a neat way to get food delivered but I was more impressed with the app than the food at Naruto. The app tempura was solid, no complaints. The tuna tataki was small and the sauce was bland, pretty boring. The salmon tempura roll was passable, the salmon seemed soggy in the breading. The spicy tuna roll lacked spice and the vegetable yakisoba was below food court standards. The avocado and California rolls fell apart the rice was bad - super disappointed.
