The employee working at the front counter mid-visit yelled out that their gateway location employees were so slow "they're drinking and getting drunk". Took over 2 hours (not exaggerating) to get my nails done... they were gels (no acrylic)... will not be coming back.

This is the third time I have been at the gateway location. The first time they made my grandmother cry, treated her extremely mediocre. She was the last to start her pedicure and the first to finish in the group. The second time was fine, absolutely no complaints. I feel that's its always necessary to give establishments a second chance. This was the third visit we made, just my mother and myself. We made an appointment with it being so close to the holiday. We show up on the dot and had to sit for about 10 minutes. We got our drinks promptly and everything seemed to be going good. We were seated and that's when the experience got bad. The guy taking care of my mom immediately cut her cuticles and made her bleed. Then he didn't apply a base coat, left nail polish all over her toes and then didn't apply a top coat. The only reason I am leaving a 2 star rating is because of the lovely woman that did my pedicure. I just couldn't believe that my mother was treated the way she was. We will not be going back. The finished product looks nice and they got me in quickly without an appointment, but it was much more painful than it needed to be and my cuticles are completely torn up and bloody. I also marked on my card upon signing in that I would like a glass of wine and it was never brought to me, nor was I offered anything else. The employees, however, were drinking and having a great time at the bar. I also made it clear to multiple people when I arrived that I would like a fill, but the nail tech seemed annoyed when he realized this because he had thought I just wanted a gel manicure. This location is horribly unprofessional. The first time I came here the woman rushed through her work and as a result ended up hurting me and instead of saying sorry and trying to fix the problem she blamed me by saying my nails were too thin. And she didn't just say this once, she said it throughout the entire appointment! Even though the customer service was terrible I still appreciate the way my nails looked so I decided to set up another appointment with them hoping my experience would be better the second time. I called a few days ahead and set up an appointment, I showed up about 15 minutes early and told the man at the counter that I had an appointment for a fill at 5pm. But the person who "scheduled" my appointment with me on the phone never actually wrote down my appointment so I couldn't get my nails done! And the man who was trying to help me said if I wanted to wait a few minutes that someone could do my fill, so I asked "is it really going to be a few minutes or is it gonna turn out to be an hour?" And then he said "well the next person won't be available until 7" RIGHT AFTER HE JUST TOLD ME IT WOULD ONLY BE A FEW MINUTES. This location is awful. I'm never going back. read more

This place was great at first! Super cute/luxe, clean, and has the most color options I've ever seen in my life, BUT my shellac manicure chipped after 3 days!! Don't really listen, get offended easily, I had one tech say "what you don't trust me". Nails don't come out how you want because they don't really listen or take the time to try to give you what you want. If I ever had to go back it wd be because they are easy to get into and I wd only have Katy do my nails. This is a review for the W. 11th location. If this was just based on their ability to do nails and waxing, I would've given it a 5. I have never had a bad service, nails, pedi, wax. However, I gave a 2 because every time I made an appointment I had to wait between 15-30 minutes from my appointment time. If my appt. was at 6p, I wouldn't be seen until 6:20 at the earliest, if my appointment was for 11a, I wouldn't be seen until 11:25. I get it if you are running a couple of minutes behind, however, this was every single appointment that I made for the past 6 months (that's how long I've been going) and it is multiple times a month as well for nails and waxing. My time is valuable and I don't have time to wait 20-30 mins into an appointment before it starts. Why make an appointment then? read more

Trying to love this place but I just can't , I went there for my last 4th pedicure but it keeps getting worse! If lotion and a massage are not included in the classic, then say so. I leave and go home and apply lotion because they don't do that. They do a great job on the nails, but I pre scrub and buff me heels because I do a better job with basic over the counter supplies. They spend about 30 soft seconds on the heels, Hello, this is the toughest spot! The only way I can tell that I spent $40 is by my nails, my feet look no different I just want a good pedicure with a little bit of a foot rub. If that's what you want, don't go here read more

Haven't had my nails done in many years. Walked in without an appointment, they took me right away. Beautiful work, gentle, reasonable prices, nice people, very clean and nice looking place. You can get wine, beer or other drink though I haven't done that yet. And, koi in their indoor pond! It's a "classy" place but without being at all snooty; has a casual vibe. Been here twice,awful experience both times. I figured to give it a second chance thinking I was being a prude since my mom swears by this place. Well, this last time did me in for good. I was on time for my appointment and had to wait for 20 minutes which I can typically handle they offered me water and I was content. The gentleman called me back and started putting a full set on, but there was miscommunication with the new receptionist with not putting down that I wanted a white tip which is fine, but instead of fixing it right then, he got up and stormed to the front desk and yelled at her and she asserted herself and asked where he wanted her to put that information on the piece of paper and continued degrading her. He stormed back to me and I told him that I wasn't mad and he was doing a good job so far stuck my two fingers in acetone and walked away for about 8 minutes. I spoke to the manager about how he made me uncomfortable with how he spoke to her regardless of what she did wrong. The manager took the tech's side and as I paid she apologized and I told her that it was fine and not to worry, but what wasn't okay was how that tech talked to her and that she deserved better. I will not go to an establishment where people are blatantly not treated right and where the managers take the guilty employees side. read more

horrible experience. i requested a specific person to do my nails and didn't get that person. first off, i was with two other people, they started immediately on their nails, as i waited 10 minutes to get mine started. i ended up finishing quite some time before my other two friends. i had luke doing my nails, he was rough, and rushed and did an OK job on my nails. one of my friends and i had received the same fill, same colors and everything, we got 5 different colors on each nail. i noticed, however that my price vs her price was way off. i was charged $5 ($1 extra for each different color), she wasn't charged the extra $5. i then asked multiple people working there why i had to pay the extra and she didn't, nobody responded or even answered my question to the point where i just said "forget it" and walked out. i have gotten different colors on each nail before and never was i once charged the extra $5. i wish i would've know i would because that's ridiculous and i would not have tipped! super frustrating, they need to keep their prices the same and not fluctuate, especially when two people come in together and get the same exact thing!! i was not refunded or even apologized too. Luke is the only one who charges for this ridiculous "$1 extra every different color". i am so disappointed. read more

Beware of this nail salon! I have been going here for a couple months. Each time I go I experience terrible customer care. I went on December 19, 2018 to have a manicure and the man doing the service cut my cuticle so badly that I was bleeding so much that I couldn't finish the manicure. Mimi an employee at the salon tried to stop the bleeding. She and another lady told me to come back later and they would give me a deluxe manicure for no charge. I called the following day and told Mimi that I couldn't come because my finger bleed that whole say ans was sore and swollen. I made an appointment with Mimi for the following day. When I came in I asked if I could get additional service and that I would pay the difference. Mimi said "no that she gets paid on commission and if she allowed that she wouldn't get paid and she didn't want to do it and that I would have to pay full price. I had to remind her that I'm a returning client that just has my finger cut so badly that I had to wait a couple days to have any services done to my hands! Another client sitting next to me saw my finger get that was cut and couldn't believe what Mimi was saying to me. Mimi told me that I would have to call the owner and get things figured out with him. I do just that. The owner named Derek didn't understand why Mimi was saying all this to me and that it would be no problem to pay the difference in price for additional services. I will no longer be going to this nail salon. Customer service is very important and when something like this happens. Especially injuring a client the salon should accommodate them. I walked in and was very impressed with the beautiful spa feeling. Then I smelled the strong odor of Thai food, which I love, but was out of place and distracting. They got me in right away (did not offer a beverage) with an older gentleman who acted angry the entire time, was so rough the filing and pulling my skin away from the nails it was painful. The edges of my gel fill are built up and rough and the polish doesn't cover the edges. When I went to pay, my gel polish nails were still sticky and he then told me it was because I didn't put them in them in the curing oven twice (which I did, after he left and walked away). I showed him the fingerprints in it and the runs where it was still soft. He then asked me what I wanted him to do. At that point I paid and left. I was looking for a new place to go since my current nail technician moved away but there is no way I would go here again. read more
