I had a manicure and a pedicure. I didn't get polish. I asked not to get polish. Cage was very gentle and cleaned my nails up very nicely. She friendly and the cost was just as said on the sandwich board out front. It was Sunday and not many people were there. I love the massage chair and got to sit in it a long time before she could start my nails. A large group was there so I had to wait about a half hour. I was fine with it though. Pretty average run-of-the-mill low class nail salon. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place. If you have high standards when it comes to nail salons- You should probably look elsewhere. 1) Good location. Near the mall. Lots of parking. 2) The workers are relatively nice, but the customer service could use some improvement. Their accents are REALLY thick, which makes communication difficult. Their conversations with customers are short and to the point. 3)The manicurists live up to the typical nail salon stereotype of conversing in their native language right in front of your face instead of talking to you. It can be a little annoying and awkward. 4) The wax room is messy and doesn't appear professional. (See pictures) 5) Eyebrow wax is okay. They don't pay too much attention to detail (minimal/no extra plucking to get the hard to wax hairs). I wouldn't trust them to do too much "shaping". But if all you want is a basic wax to get most of the excess hairs gone, it works. 6) Nail work is over-priced considering the lack of quality. I got a Shellac manicure, and it ended up looking nothing like the picture I brought in. My nails were cut too short, weren't rounded enough like I requested, and lacked any sort of French Tip design. Also, the Shellac was painted onto my fingers AND dirt was left under my nail. (See pictures) All in all- If you're in a pinch for a wax or manicure, this place will work- BUT set your standards very low. Expect a messy/low class environment, not-so-good customer service, bad quality work, and to be overcharged. *UPDATE: My gel manicure lasted only a week due to the sloppy job! It started peeling off quickly! (Shellac manicures usually last 3-4 weeks when done at other salons!) DON'T go here! What a rip off! read more

I am not a nail salon person, so this was my third mani/pedi ever. I went in for a manicure, but Lee convinced me to get a pedicure even though I'm extremely ticklish. While there were a few giggles and jerks of the foot, he did an amazing job, concentrating on giving the most amazing leg and foot massage. I loved this experience. The woman doing my pedicure had no idea what she was doing. Trimmed the nails super short and didn't keep them square like I asked. One is also crooked. Barely scrubbed my feet and hardly pushed back and trimmed the cuticle. The polish job was awful. Next I got a manicure and it took 2 hours to do a basic gel manicure because she was doing 3 other peoples nails at the same time. First of all, they really should revise the "walk-ins welcome" signage... Didn't make an appointment, it was a Sunday and a lot of the nail salons were closed. We really wanted to get our manicure and pedicures done that day so we came to one of the few places that were opened. The location was ideal, being close to the mall with a parking lot. When we walked in, there wasn't a whole lot of customers being served, we were told to wait around 15 minutes before they could get us in, which was fair enough. It was more like 25 minutes. We even helped ourselves with choosing nail colors without prompting. Two of us were getting pedicures and one was getting manicure. Even after we sat down, only one nail tech was available, so he started with my pedicure, while my other two companions were left to wait again. The manicure didn't start until my pedicure was almost done. Ugh. We had every intention to get our brows waxed, despite our frustration towards how long it was taking us to get everything done. On a plus note, it was one of the best waxing experience I have had. My brows are naturally uneven and somehow the stylist made it work. Yay brows. Bottom line, I will come back again for the brows, my pedicure wasn't bad, but I have gotten better ones somewhere else. If I am desperate enough, I will make a reservation before coming in again. Just for your reference, we got here at 2:25 pm and didn't leave until 4:20 pm, yikes. read more

MAKE RESERVATIONS. Because even if you walked in and they tell you that you will be serviced within 10 minutes, be prepared to wait for 45 minutes. My fault for wanting an impromptu manicure, but still...choices in Eugene were limited. The manicure itself happened so quickly, I wasn't sure how I felt about it. They also charged a whooping $2 for the file kit if you didn't bring one. Most, if not all places in town are going for $1 per kit. Seems a bit much for charging double.They do accept credit/debit cards, but it's obvious that they preferred cash. On the plus side, the place is pretty clean and overall well equipped. Being from New York I am very picky on my nail salons since they are a dime a dozen over there. You can get a mani pedi for 15 bucks. When I came to Eugene a little over a year ago I realized that would never happen. I went to a couple different places around town but they weren't very good and I couldn't justify paying $20-$45 just for a pedicure. Well low and behold after a year I have finally found the nail place for me. All it took was getting use to the varying prices from each coast. Whenever I am in need of a pedicure I just call up golden nails and a majority of the time they have same day appointments which is very convenient. They are also very friendly on the phone and in person. When I have an appointment, I have never waited over 5 minutes to be seated. They have a large selection of colors to choose from. Of course I always go with O.P.I because I just love some of their colors (big apple red, is currently on my toes) Some of the pedicurists are better than others and once in a while you may not get such a good one. The younger gentleman who work there are quite good. I also have received multiple gel manicures from them, all of which I loved and they lasted forever without chipping or peeling. And just a reminder in Oregon they can't reuse the files and scrubbers so if you don't have , then you have to pay 2 bucks. But, make sure you remember it the next time you go! I am now the proud owner of 3 because I can never remember the baggy of stuff. Overall if you are looking for a nail salon , Golden Nails is your best bet unless you enjoy cold water pedicures and in that case you can go to the nail place down the road. read more

I always have the worst luck with getting my nails done, they NEVER come out how I ask and are never even. I have even gone to a celebrity manicurist that charged me $75, and those turned out terrible, with uneven lines on every single nail, and the nail polish didn't even reach the edges of my nails, it was awful. So being fed up, the next time I got my nails done, I decided to try a cheaper place, thinking it couldn't be any worse than it already was. Well, I was super impressed by the nail tech, Trish, that did my nails. I brought a picture in asking her to recreate it, and she did almost exactly. Neither the best nor the worst pedi of my life. Nice atmosphere: clean and aesthetically appealing; pretty thorough work on my cuticles; strangely, the polish doesn't seem to go all the way to the bottom and side edges of my toenails--we'll see how it comes out over time. Overall we basically had a good experience; our toes looked great initially. Don't bother making an appointment. The biggest down side was: although we'd reserved a time, my friend waited 30 min anyway & I waited an hour. When I was finally attended, my pedicurist was apologetic and attentive; she gave me a very nice foot and leg massage. She also gave me three coats of polish, which makes me wonder if it has been diluted--again the truth will come with time. The salon doesn't seem to have any drying stations, so our topcoat wasn't 'fixed' and I wonder how long they'll hold up. Also, my usual place puts my flip-flops on before applying the polish so that there's no concern about nicking the surface--Golden Nails didn't and clearly weren't so adept at manipulating my footwear. Came here after my pedi from French Nails & Spa didn't last so well; am overall pleased with Golden Nails - now the test will be whether the polish lasts. If it does, I'll gladly bump my rating up to four. UPDATE: Two weeks in, and my nails look like they need to be redone (my place at home lasts a month). Though new to the area, this spa has an experienced staff that does a great pedi (for me) and mani for the fiancé. By far our favorite nail and spa place in the Eugene area. I stopped here on vacation without an appointment because my nails looked scary bad. I was meeting some people for the first time and didn't wanna look like a weirdo with my gel all chipping off. I was with my daughter who is 19. The woman who removed our old gel didn't know english and totally buffed her fingers before applying the acetone (minus 1 star). So putting acetone on an open wound wasn't a great idea. Anyways, I didn't get his name, but he guy who did my nails was SUPER nice and easy to talk to. He also did a great job on my nails, and gave me some vacation tips since he was familiar with the area. Its been a week and a half and my gel polish is still holding strong. My last gel polish was totally chipping by a week and a half! I paid $25 which I thought was a good price since the last place I went was $35! This place was horrible. I can't even give this nail salon one star... it's definitely not worthy of this measly one star, only because I HAD TO! Where to begin.... we called ahead of time, they said we could be seen. We walk in and grab colors sit down and wait. And wait. And wait. One of the workers was so rude to my daughter, the other took 1 hour to do a gel mani and the lady who did mine nails.... horrible. I explained to her how unprofessional and unhappy we were. Our compensation-$6.00 (fee for 3-pedi packs) !!!! Then I suck this up, desperate to leave we get charged.... I was told one price $150! But then I go to sign the receipts .... and why do I see that I've been charged $177!!!!!!! Wait what?! No one told me I was being charged more. That there was any sort of adding issue. Nope. No one. I tell The worker. She fights me. Not understanding what she did wrong. I merely wanted to know what the issue was and why she thought it was okay to OVER CHARGE ME! She said she miscalculated so I HAD to pay the new price. Wait. What!?!? I have called numerous times since JUNE folks to speak to the Manager but there's excuse after excuse. So sad that my experience was so negative that I had to write such a nasty review. Oh the nails... they lasted LESS THAN A WEEK. Chipped, cracked, sore cuticles. NEVER AGAIN. NOT WORTH THE MONEY.
