The haircut and style was less than desirable. when I made the appointment I made a comment about Shelli with a rats nest of her own hair made into dreadlocks hairstyle (she's white) and ask not to have her. of course I didn't know her... so guess what I got her. she basically botched my hair. wouldn't let me face the mirror, had one side longer than the other, didn't finish my hair"didn't have hairspray"for my hair. I don't usually spend money to get my nails done, but when I do I expect quality. I can't say I received much of that at Du Bunnes salon. I had purchased a $27 Living Social coupon for a mani/pedi, so perhaps I was treated differently because I am just a lowly college student and I had already paid a discounted price upfront. But this is a silly business move because the entire purpose of Living Social deals is to attract business, and why not give clients a good experience so they'll want to return in the future? The salon itself is small and looks more like a hair-cut only place. When I entered, I didn't receive the warmest greeting; everyone seemed quite busy, and I was told to wait even though I had an appointment and arrived on time. Wynter Dawn told me to put my stuff at her station and after being confused as to where hers was, she hastily took my coat and backpack and put them there herself. (Imagine!) I sat down and soaked my feet in the footbath--which was a pleasant temperature--and the first thing she mentioned when she came over with her stuff was that SOMEONE had put all of her supplies in the wrong place blah-blah-blah. She did do an excellent job massaging my feet and making them super soft, and she was interesting enough to make small talk with. But when came to the little things, which is what I value in a salon, this place fell flat. Wynter, a licensed nail technician, didn't warn me that the OPI nail polish color I chose looks grossly different on nails than in the bottle (my toenails turned out an ugly navy black instead of the pretty midnight purple color of the polish) I was beyond bored while waiting for my toes to dry; she never offered to get me a magazine and went into another room for awhile so I couldn't ask for one. Although her gossiping with a co-worker about Facebook drama with a client/friend didn't bother me, it did strike me as unprofessional. No nail dryers, and my fingernail polish already started chipping off the next DAY. I got my nails done on Tuesday and by Friday, my nails looked like I had gotten them done two weeks ago. I'm guessing there's something wrong with their top coat, I've never had my nail polish last such a short amount of time. (The ugly navy color has stayed fine on my toes, though) I can't vouch for their gels, which Wynter talked up passionately (and her nails were pretty cool looking). Maybe you'll have a better experience with those at this salon, but I'm not very eager to return and find out. Had I not gotten the Living Social deal, this whole experience would have cost $75...wow. read more

Dubunne's Salon - Nail Salons Near Me - Eugene, Oregon

I was robbed. I lost sixty minutes of my precious time hoping to receive a wonderful facial. I paid half of what Du Bunne normally charges for the spa service through Living Social, but it left me in debt of a good experience. The whole place smelled like nail polish. The bathroom was in disarray, doubling as a stock room. The small area used for the spa service itself could have passed for a closet and was just full of clutter. The esthetician herself was kind, but her presence in the room WHILE I changed into my gown was unsettling. Then she provided the most boring facial I've ever had; sadly, it was something I could've done even better in the comfort of my own bathroom...cleanse, hydrate, tone, mask, then cleanse and hydrate again. In addition, I was left 2 times, each lasting for 10 minutes, with a towel on my face....wtf?...of course, I know the reasoning for this. At the time, I thought: "this is the opportune time for some kind of massage....something to redeem the atrocious atmosphere. Something, dear god, something!!!" At the end of the session, she asked me how I felt. I lied and said I felt great. I really was grateful for the service, but I honestly felt I wasted my time. And here's the worst part: I had an allergic reaction to one of the products used. Could it have been avoided, and was it their fault? That could be debated, but that was the final straw. read more

Wow! I'm so thrilled to be able to leave a positive review for this salon! Please consider that DuBunne's hasn't been reviewed on Yelp for over a year and that there are new owners/operators on the premises. I have been in-between stylists for most of a year now and have been looking for someone to permanently fill that spot. I like finding someone who "fits the bill" that I can stick with! I had seen Tulie posting photos of her cut and color clients on Pinterest and Facebook and decided to call her. I easily booked a cut and color with Tulie B. she had a last minute cancellation and was able to fit me in as well as work with my own schedule. Upon entering the salon, I was warmly greeted by a nail tech and Tulie herself. She was running on schedule and ready to take care of me, no wait time at all! We spent about 5 minutes talking about my hair (I had sent her a few photos on Facebook so she had an idea of what my hair looked like and that I wanted to go back to a previous style and color) and deciding what to do. As Tulie got to work on my hair, I noticed that neither she, nor any other employees had their cell phones out! Nobody was gossiping about the personal drama in their lives or about other clients or coworkers. It was so refreshing! Also, the salon was impeccably clean and when I left, (i was the last client of the day) the floors were being mopped and everything was being cleaned. Tulie has 25+ years of experience and it really showed. Not only did her knowledge come through as a stylist, but her product knowledge was vast as well. I love when a stylist can recommend the right products for my hair. DuBunne's is an average size salon that also offers spa services. It is thoughtfully decorated, well maintained and has a well-stocked selection of products to choose from. I will continue to book my cut and colors with Tulie, and look forward to trying their other services as well. Du Bunne is my place for everything! Massages, facials, manicures and of course haircuts. The folks at Du Bunne make you feel like family and even when there are new techs, I feel confident that only the best will be selected to be a part of their team. Jennifer is an awesome massage therapist, both strong and gentle and I've never had a better haircut than Jenie gives me. The new gel and shelac manicures are amazing, they last and last and don't harm your nails. I love this place, it's my hometown spa! read more

I bought the Shellac Living Social Deal with Wynter Dawn, and left feeling like I was given a lesser service because I used a coupon. She didn't trim or file my nails. She just looked at them, scraped off my cuticles, and applied the color. I was out of there in 15 minutes. I have to say I love the Shellac polish, it lasts forever, but I wasn't all that impressed with Dubunnes or Wynter. read more

Used a Living Social coupon for a mani/pedi with Wynter Dawn. She was very friendly and attentive. She gives a nice hand massage with the mani and a foot massage with the pedi. After I told her that I'm preggers, she was very careful about the foot massage because apparently she goes in deep and has a knowledge of reflexology - and activating certain spots on the foot can cause premature labor. She made pretty quick work of the paint job, but on inspection, it's not the tidest work I've seen but I'm guessing some of the paint on my cuticles and skin will wash off tonight. Unlike the complaint of another yelper, she did a nice job shaping my nails. The salon itself is tiny and not particularly hip and fancy, but totally serviceable. read more

I tried Dubunne's after purchasing a Living Social deal for a facial. I should have researched beforehand. This is a hair salon, any intentions they have toward a spa were an afterthought. The room they use for facials is as bright as a dentist office due to a full wall of windows AND lights on. It was as cold as a movie theater with no separate heating from the main space. The worst part was that as loud as a frat party! Even with the music on I could hear everything the hair stylists were gossiping about on the other side of the paper thin wall - probably because it has office style dropped ceilings. I thought it was odd that the esthetician did not leave the room when she requested I change into the gown, especially since once the facial started she left the room twice for 10 minutes at a time. By the time she came back I was laying there freezing with a cold wash cloth on my face. To her credit the esthetician seemed to be well trained, too bad she couldn't get a position in a real spa. read more

There are a lot of reviews from 2011 complaining about this salon. However, I had the best experience of my life getting a gel mani/pedi from Jo. Not only is Jo extremely knowledgable (and it shows!), Jo takes time to explain the best ways to acquire and maintain healthy nails. It took 3 hours to do both the mani and pedi, and normally I would get frustrated with that amount of time. However, Jo made me feel extremely comfortable, and maintained conversation with me the whole time. In addition, the length of time made me feel as though I was an important client, and that Jo was taking the time to do it right. Also, for those reading this, take into account that I got the soft gel on both my hands and feet, so it does take longer. I wish this salon luck in the years to come and hope that some of the previous reviewers give it another shot. read more

On Crusader Deals I purchased for $17, a spa pedi/mani that was supposed to have the value of $60. But according to the price guide I was given when I left the salon today, I can only make the services I received add up to $55. It was an okay experience, but disappointing none the less. Haley was very sweet, but clearly inexperienced. I like it when they are more aggressive with getting rid of the dry cuticle and skin around the nail bed. She put a clay mask on my feet and wrapped them in hot towels, very nice but since she set my feet on the cold tile floor, the warmth was instantly gone and my feet were cold. The foot massage lasted about 4 minutes total for both feet, no leg massage at all. My biggest complaint today is that I received my "Spa Pedi/Mani" sitting in a salon hairdryer chair with my feet in a plastic tub of water. There is no way I would ever go back to this business and spend $35 to sit in an uncomfortable chair with my feet in a plastic bucket when I can spend $25 to sit in a massage chair while drinking a glass of wine, at any number of places on Coburg Rd. I am sure Haley's skills will continue to improve and she will build a clientele. However it is the salon owner's responsibility to provide an appropriate space for the services to take place. I would have sent these comments to the owner privately, but I could find no place where there was a website or even an email address listed on the web or any of their marketing materials. read more

I have never been here and I already know I won't go. I called for some questions on getting a manicure. I then called back to make an appointment and re-confirmed some information. That all went smoothly and the manicurist, Felicia, was very helpful and accommodating. Due to a work conflict, I needed to cancel the appointment. I called back and advised I needed to cancel and would call back to reschedule and was greeted by a rude tone and snippy words. Then the person, who clearly lacked basic phone operating skills (ie hanging up the phone), started bad mouthing me cancelling while I could still hear them. So, good job on loosing someone who had not even stepped foot in the salon. read more

I too, purchased a Living Social deal through Wynter Dawn for my mom as a Christmas gift. She tried 3 different times to get a hold of Wynter for an appointment and each time she didn't call my mom back. She finally got a hold of her today and said that she is totally booked and the Living Social deal would probably expire before she could get to her. Also asked her why she didn't call during the months Wynter was much slower...when she had only 2 people use the Living Social deals. She was very rude! My mom will not be going there, and unfortunately, neither will I. If they employ people like that, they won't get my business. read more

I used a groupon for a gel polish manicure with Jo and she did a wonderful job! My nails came out beautiful and the gel Polish lasted 3 weeks. It is a great value even at full price. I would recommend Jo highly, you won't be disappointed. read more

I have been going to Jeani for my hair since 2004 and would never go anywhere else! There are times I haven't been able to get in to her but Dawn and Ashleigh do a fabulous job and I trust any of them with my hair. My nail tech moved away a few years ago and I have not had my nails done at Dubunnes since but the techs have always been friendly and I'm defiantly always entertained while I'm there. The shop is small but they make good use of the space. The have a good selection of products and I'm thrilled they have Enjoy now. My only real complaint is the parking, the bagel shop gets really busy and there are times it's hard to find a spot. read more

I also bought a Crusader Deal for my service at Dubunnes, which was nice as it's not in my neighborhood, and I am not sure that I would have ever seen it otherwise. I bought a mani/pedi for Haley (and one for Wynter Dawn that I never was able to get in and use). By the time I called to get in Haley no longer worked there however, the awesome thing is that Beth,(the nail tech still working there) honored the money I spent on one of her services. Despite the fact that she doesn't see a dime of the money I paid to Crusader Deals, Beth treated me like I the princess I am and spent a lot of time making sure that I had a great pedicure. Beth was friendly and approachable, and just the right amount of talkative. She also answered all my inquisitive questions and offered interesting tidbits of information about why my toe nail polish stays so long versus my finger nail polish. I enjoyed the little balls in the soak water, the muffin and water while I soaked and the no pressure informational sales pitch as I left---I will definitely go back to see her and bring my partner to see what a real pedicure feels like. The place itself was small, but totally friendly and my pedicure was tucked away enough that I felt I got privacy and great service. If you have been before and didn't enjoy it I would highly suggest seeing Beth for nail services---If you haven't been before, check it out! read more

I got a Shellac manicure w/ a paraffin treatment and I am pretty pleased. I used a living social deal so it was affordable and I felt like I was treated well. I will say that the staff is not super professional, the atmosphere is more like a group of friends hanging out but if you aren't expecting a high-class joint it's totally fine. read more

The owner seems very uninterested in her clients, there was gossip going on about a gal who apparantly had been doing waxing and was no longer there, what a mess she had left, how bad she treated her clients, then one of the gals who seemed to be taking care of the telphone and hiring a new 'nail' gal, was having a loud argument with her daughter over something the daughter wanted, seemed completely out of place, I was really uncomfortable with the whole 'unprofessional attitude' of 'I'm doing you a favor' working on your hair...the perm and hair cut was priced at $85.00 which surprised me, as I thought the price of $65.00 included all of it, as most salons do ... my mistake! read more

I decided to try this salon because it is nearby, and I'm so glad I did! I believe it is staffed by a new group of people. Jeani Poston knows how to work with naturally curly hair, and I consider myself lucky to find her. She is obviously very experienced, and her haircuts are excellent. I haven't tried anyone else that works at Dubunne's but they seem to be busy each time I go. The atmosphere at this little shop is pleasant, and I feel very comfortable there. Bethany Counts offered to let me use the certificate toward a service she could do for me, which she didn't have to, I could of gotten my money back. She was very friendly and nice. I understand some of your complaints are valid due to the salon be unprofessional and not nurturing to your needs but I would like to comment on the regular nail polish chipping. Any idiot knows that is very old technology and I've never seen a regular polish last for more than a day or two. If you didn't have such unrealistic expectations you wouldn't of been so disappointed. Since you bought the mani/pedi for so cheap and the practitioner was practically working for free you should of upgraded to the gel polish which actually lasts for two weeks. In regards to the eyelash tinting, it is required by law to follow manufactures instructions and most eyelash tint requires you to rinse in water NOT saline solution if you feel a strong sensation. Also it is normal to feel some sensation with the lash tint and your eyes will be slightly red and irritated for 24 hours. I'm sorry if your practitioner didn't inform you. I am a licensed esthetician and nail tech and I will be bringing my services to the Eugene area. It scares me and makes me sad that some people are very mis-informed about services we provide and have unrealistic expectations. If I could I would not give any stars because I unfortunately never even received a service. My mother purchased a gift certificate at a Breast Cancer Benefit last September. The certificate was worth $125.00 facial. However when I called to make an appointment for the service they told me the women left and they would not honor the gift certificate even though it had the salon's name and owners signature on it. The owner Julie wouldn't honor the gift certificate nor offer any other service, explanation, or apology. For a salon with a lot of bad reviews you think they would want to get new clients in their doors. Unfortunately they have lost me, my mother as well as our contacts and network. Poor customer service and management. If I were you I would not trust this salon nor would I ever want to go to it. And I will let all of my friends know. read more

Felicia is amazing!! This is my first time getting gel tips, I have always gone with acrylic nails and I can say I will NEVER go back to acrylics. The gels have no smell and Felicia has such a soft touch I left without sore nail beds and no injuries. I usually leave a salon with a few nicks from the file and on many occasions Dremel burns. After 30 years if having my nails done I figured it was all part of the process. Well I am pleased to review that this is no longer the case. Felicia is a perfectionist and it shows in the quality of work she does. The cost was a bit more than I have paid in the past and the procedure took longer than the acrylics but it was all worth it. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. The salon was super clean. There were other operators in the salon and it was fairly busy but everyone is cognizant of each other and the noise level was pretty quiet. Overall I was very impressed with the level of service I received and I will be a long time customer. If you are looking for a quality experience, contact Felicia. The expiration is on Dec. 3rd and when I called last week she was all booked up and apparently refusing to extend the expiration date to accommodate people who'd purchased the deal. When I expressed my disappointment to the person on the phone she was very short with me and said if was disgruntled, I should take it up with Living Social. When I confirmed the name of the Salon today I spoke with an owner (same person?). She was short with me and said I should, again, call Living Social. And if was going to leave a negative review, to do it under Wynter Dawn. Overall, not a good experience. And after looking over the other reviews, I'm rather glad it worked out the way it did and I didn't have to go in after all. read more

I purchased a voucher for a spa manicure and pedicure from Wynter Dawn on living social. I have been trying to book an appointment for nearly a month- I have tried calling and leaving messages and sending messages via facebook, and finally reached a receptionist today. The receptionist was quite rude and rushed, especially after I told her I was hoping to book an appointment for a "spa manicure and pedicure"- apparently that is code for "redeeming a living social voucher, and therefore not worth your time". After consulting with Wynter Dawn, she claimed that there were no appointments available until next month! I scheduled an appointment, only because I already bought this voucher and don't want to lose money, but I am going to contact living social to see if I can get a refund, and then cancel my appointment. Very unfortunate- I have discovered many great businesses and restaurants using Groupon and living social, and have continued to frequent them- and recommend them- after redeeming the vouchers, but not the case this time. UPDATE: I contacted livingsocial, and they refunded my money! I then canceled my appointment. read more

I had a Living Social coupon and went for a mani/pedi with Wynter Dawn. I was put in a cramped corner with another client. During the entire procedure, Wynter gossiped with the other client. The foot soak and scrub were well needed. However, the polish started chipping in a couple of days. The manicure was quick and not at all relaxing. The thin layer of clear polish started peeling away the next morning. Wynter acted very bored with the manicure (apparently because she had no one to chit chat with). Again, I went with a Living Social coupon for a facial with Ashley. It started out OK but I was left alone for over twenty minutes and was getting up when she finally returned. I told her I wondered if she was coming back. Quickly, she finished. I went for lunch with a friend who noticed I still had "peel" on the edge of my face and some of it had dropped into my ears and hadn't been removed. I will never return or recommend Dubunne Salon to anyone. read more

Joseph destroyed my hair, it will be at least a year before It will be fixed. Absolutely the worst salon experience I have ever had. I wish I would have kept driving by. Dubunne's is a lackluster "Supercuts". How you can even call this business a salon/spa is beyond me. They should have a sidewalk board selling Five dollar haircuts for two-fifty.
