The BEST place to go for nail care! Several friends recommended going to Nail Time in West Seattle when I often commented on their nails and how nice they looked all the time. Their polish was very unique and they never seemed to have a bad manicure. They recommended contacting Sam Nguyen at Nail Time who does a process called powder that allows the color to last for at least two weeks. It is MUCH better than gel as there are no heat lamps and there are so many colors! The process is easy. The hardest part was trying to decide which powder color to select. My first experience at Nail Time was WONDERFUL! I am a customer for life as it is always a special treat going there. The staff works hard to get it right from the manicure to the pedicure. The last two times I made an appointment, I arrived on time only to wait half an hour for someone to be available. I have been coming to Nail Time for several months because it's conveniently located, but after many sub-par shellac manicures I will take my business elsewhere. Although Nail Time has a great color selection, the shellac peels off my nails after about a week--an issue I have never experienced elsewhere. Additionally, the top coat they use is not very shiny and my nails look lackluster at best. I've also found that the borders of the polish are uneven, so that when my nails grow a little bit the polish looks jagged at the top. Just went in for a pedicure and manicure. They say me in the pedicure chair and I waited for 20 mins. The problem with the wait is they had two and three people working on every single person in there or nail techs just walking around doing nothing while I sat there and waited. 2* = I probably won't be back. Tried this place again after several years due to the positive recent reviews. I called at 6 pm on a Thursday on a whim and they could see me right away (they close at seven.) I came for a pedicure but was up-sold on a manicure, which I definitely needed. I got a spa manicure and a regular manicure. The massage on the regular manicure was like 30 seconds each arm, no hand massage. The leg massage lasted much longer. Both were pretty rough and rushed, I am thinking they wanted to go home. As I sat waiting for my polish to dry I noticed one pink nail was all smudged. I went back and forth about it and finally asked someone to fix it for me, which they did, taking off the polish all around my cuticle and putting on another coat. I appreciated that. If it was left there i might have given three stars, however when I went to pay i clearly said that I had a spa pedicure but was only given a regular manicure. The tech said "I know" but when she brought my credit card slip to sign had charged me for a spa manicure! Then she stood and watched over my shoulder while I debated about how much to tip, and then looked at the slip as she took away. Rude! I appreciated them getting me in on short notice, and fixing the messed up nail, but frankly I have had better service elsewhere and for less expensive as well. read more

I went to this nail salon because of a groupon I bought for two shellac manicures. I brought my sister and cousin with me and we had mixed experiences with the service. A couple of the ladies were nice, one was rude. 6 days later... All of our manicures have peeled off. My sister later told me she saw them DILUTING the shellac nail polish with acetone! Please don't charge $25 for a shellac manicure if it won't even last a full week! read more

First off, I'm a man, I'll admit I am not a manicure or pedicure expert. However, I got both services from Ivy at Nail Time, and really enjoyed the experience and outcome on my nails. Massage was very good, longer than other spas I've been to. Massage chairs are very comfortable. Ivy did a very nice job trimming my cuticles. There was no blood, no pain. Nail Time was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, while the 3 or 4 other nail salons nearby were literally completely empty. I would think this means a good reputation in the community. I've been coming to this salon for about 6 years (this is the only salon I go to btw)! The salon is very spacious and is always packed! I would recommend booking an appt. I believe NailTime has been around for 25 years and I can see why! The owner Sam is wonderful. She is very courteous and really cares for her clients. She remembers everyone's names by heart! Her staff is also very kind and helpful. I love the recent remodel. It's very modern and chic. Their pricing is a little higher than other salons but you pay for what you get. I bought a deal that they had with localtwist.com ($22 for a Spa Mani/Pedi Combination ($45 Value). If you just want a mani/pedi with a quick massage, then this is OK (for the $22), but if you expect to feel taken away and relaxed with the feel of spa, pay the extra money and go somewhere else. The place is noisy, run down, and it looked dirty...and I felt dirty being there. I took my girlfriend with me, and the gal that was working on her didn't know what she was doing and was constantly being directed by others on what to do. The deal says 75 mins., well I can tell you that we walked in there @ 11:10, and they were done with me and was was left to dry @ 11:45. I visited the shop today with my stepdaughter while she was getting her nails done and decided to get a pedicure but the polish selection was less than desirable but I finally picked a newly released OPI color. Now the pedicure was okay to say the least cause the lady who was doing it is new to the shop, she was a little harsh with the file on my cuticles, the paint job was not that great ! she didn't fully paint some nails, there's polish on some cuticles and there's marks & smudges in the polish too ! Nail Time claims to have a short wait time for walk in appointments. I have tried this salon a couple of times now.one occasion I was told to come back because no one available knew how to do acrylic nails, During another attempt I waited 5 minutes and then was seated at a station and waited another 5 minutes. Then over the next hour and forty five minutes the technicians were shuffled between me and other customers. 4 different technicians helped me. When I got home I realized I had a giant scratch up the side if my wrist from one of the technicians who was helping me in-between receiving her full set of acrylics. Terrible. Got a shellac manicure here about 3 months ago and it was great. Got one yesterday and it was awful - uneven edges, shellac left on my skin, and best of all, today it started peeling. I am now missing 1/4 of the polish on the thumb of my right hand. Will not be going back. read more

Any of the girls (and one guy) do a great job on my husband for spa pedicure and manicure. They make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I have been going to Nail Time for 7 years. There are like 7 or 8 spas in there too!! My daughter received 2nd degree burns from wax at Nail Time in West Seattle. She went in on Saturday for a brow and lip wax. I'm shocked at the negligence of this employee/establishment. The wax that was used was so hot that my daughter has now missed two days of school and has scabs all around her brows and on her lip. My husband and I have been on the phone all weekend with the nurses at Harborview and we got her into the dermatologist on Monday night. She now has a prescription strength ointment to hopefully minimize scarring or any permanent discoloration on my daughters face. I am extremely dissatisfied with the service and the response from Nail Time. We have received a refund for the service itself, but no offer to cover any medical expenses, etc. Do not get waxed here and do not let your children go here. read more

I am a long time customer of Regina Nails on the Oregon end of California Ave, having followed Rose from her old shop near Hanford. I received a gift certificate/coupon to Nail Time and decided to give it a try before the certificate expired. Tons of nail joints on California so I had to actually look at the map to see which one this was. Across the street from Rite Aid, and about a block north. There is no parking to be had in this corridor, so I had to go up a block, park on a residential street, and walk down the stairway. When I opened the door I was surprised to see that it's a huge salon with about eight or nine manicure and pedicure stations. Tons of workers there and was seated immediately for a Shellac manicure. These guys take the time to individually wrap your fingers in foil packets with a remover soaked cottonball. A little more time consuming than me sitting with my fingertips soaking in a bowl of acetone, but definitely more efficient. Not sure why, but I got the lone male in attendance to do the actual manicure. Nice job and pretty meticulous. Good to see that the utensils are all sealed in little packages and come out of a little cooker/sterilizer. Will try to come back for a spa mani/pedi, since I saw that a neck massage is included in the deal. The only thing I didn't like was the lack of parking in the area. read more

Prices are comparable to other places in this area, and they give you a first time customer discount! They are quiet and efficient. Poor Shellac. I spent $50 for a french+ tip Shellac and it was chipping less than 2 weeks. It was really disappointing. When I went in to have it removed and told them it only stayed on for 2 weeks before it chipped they didn't give me a discount or redo them. I was disappointed in the service. Nail Time is my favorite nail salon and is definitely the best in West Seattle. I started going to Nail Time when they first opened in 1994 or so. I took a few years off and returned as a regular about 8 years ago. It's the biggest salon of its kind in the WS area; they have the most spa chairs, nail stations and staff. They are all very professional and make an extra effort to provide a sanitary environment. They sterilize the utensils after each use, which is a very important fact! Samantha, the owner is the sweetest! She has an experienced staff and a low turn over rate, which is uncommon in this industry. I've been going there so long that I've seen people come and go but I've also seen some of the same faces for several years. I've become spoiled and only have Sam do my nails. I found out recently during Sam's absence that Lisa is extremely talented as well. So, for the fingers...it's Sam or Lisa. I'm not so picky on my pedicures, they all do a great job...Mimi is one of my favorites for pedicures and eyebrow waxes though. I have to comment on a few of the not-so-positive reviews regarding appointments and tipping. I used to get annoyed when they didn't start on me at the exact time of my appointment but then I realized that....1. they are usually pretty busy and it's almost impossible to start and end at an exact time....2. they are so busy because they are the best in the area, and 3. appointments get more time and TLC than walk-ins. I guess you could go to someplace like Gene Juarez and get in at the exact appointment time and pay $75 for nails and $65 for a pedicure.... Regarding the tipping, they always get their tips regardless of how you pay. If you pay by credit card and add a tip, they cash the technician out right then and there. I think they prefer tips to be paid in cash so that they don't pay the credit card fees on tips. (remember, this is a small business) They also take checks and most places, nail salons or otherwise don't do that anymore. They recently stopped taking American Express, which is a bit of a bummer but as most Amex card holders know....Amex's merchant fees are ridiculously high which is why the card isn't' as widely accepted as Visa and MC.... All in all, Nail Time is the best! read more

Went in for a set of gel nails. First off everyone has trouble speaking english. Ugh! Second, even though it was on the service menu most of the technicians had no idea what gel nails were. They kept saying Selac.....NO GEL NAILS!!!! Finally a guy who spoke english was able to help me and set me up with another technician. She put tips on then pulled out acrylic poweder....GEL NAILS...I said. Her response...Gel? Duh?! I should have run but I had the tips glued on and she had already filed my nails. I was like F...it! She couldn't shape my nails the way I wanted...even though I had a picture!!! WTF!?!?!!? $45 bucks later I left headed home to fix the mess. Ended up cutting my nails down because they were twice as long as I wanted them too. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more
