I love love love The Wax Bar! Monique greeted me at the check-in desk and grabbed me some tea (she had a lot of types to offer which I thought was super nice). Hailey was my esthetician and she was phenomenal in my opinion. I have had many Brazilian waxes under my belt and this has to be one of the best I've had. She was so warm and friendly, and most importantly she knew what she was doing. We had great conversation and made me feel so comfy for such an uncomfy treatment. She did not go with my natural shape,did not ask how I wanted it shaped, the tinting was free handed without lining it first. She did go back and remove some tinting cause I did let her know the high point of my brow was too high. She did not wax what was left after that. I ended up hating it and finishing the job as soon as I got home. I wish they had portfolios of estheticians work so you can pick the right one or lower the price for inexperienced estheticians. I got my brows waxed by Georgina today and it was the most relaxing brow waxing experience I've ever had. It felt pampering which is completely different from the painful I personal experiences I've had at other establishments. Making an appointment online was so easy and there was lots of street parking around. When the West Seattle bridge closed I made the switch to wax bar and have had an overall great experience. The salon is very clean and lobby always has great candles, clothing, and accessories for sale. I haven't been able to take advantage of any of the happy hour services that are offered due to my work schedule but it seems fun. I highly recommend booking with Haily! Her technique is awesome, she ensured you're comfortable, has extreme attention to detail, and provides an excellent experience for every service. I'm concerned that I just had to call this place back after they left me a message confirming my appointment for Tuesday (message left on Saturday). I don't live anywhere near this place, made no appointment. The message referred to a 50% cancellation fee. What's going on? When I called they had my name and number in an appointment. I literally live over two hours away. Made no appointment and yet they had a reservation under my name and number? This feels like a scam to charge a cancellation fee. The receptionist said she cancelled it when I called but what if I didn't call? I mean, I never made the appointment so it wasn't my responsibility to call them. I've had mixed experiences. I will only make an appt with one person here now. She is amazing and does a Brazilian in less than 15 min. However, I went one time she wasn't available...for my wedding in Hawaii...,,I ended up so bruised I wouldn't wear a bathing suit around friends and family. The bruises were that bad. This place has been an oasis for me for over the past two years and still going strong! My regular monthly facials and waxing with Lynaia are something to look forward to and that really keep my skin and my soul well nourished. I have had a lot of facials over the years and I have to say that Lynaia is the absolute best. I never want to go to anyone else! I also really appreciate the front desk always making sure I get scheduled before I check out and their friendliness if I am ever running a few minutes late! They also have a great assortment of fun items, great products to use at home, and miscellaneous local stuff to shop. Such a lovely place!! Kind, professional staff and a beautiful environment. The waiting room is stocked with beautiful jewelry, skincare products, locally sourced greeting cards, and gift items available for purchase! I have not been able to get a brow wax for months due to COVID-19 so this was an special appointment for a little self care! Upon arrival you are required to wash your hands and wear a mask at all times. The waiting room seats are marked for social distancing which I appreciate greatly. Your sensitive bits are safe here. I mean... you're getting waxed, it's not going to be a massage level of relaxation. BUT these ladies get the job done in a quick, professional and efficient manner. Setting up an appointment is a breeze, since you can do it online. No issues with parking, there's nothing available immediately outside the door but I typically just park in the neighborhood across the street and walk over. The lobby is super cute... too cute. I've bought jewelry twice already while waiting. The rooms are tidy, clean, and private. I've had Georgina and Devon wax me. They both provided the quickest waxing's I've ever had, which is thoroughly appreciated since I'm not exactly trying to savor the moment during a full Brazilian. Even though it's a quick process (I believe both times were less than 20 min?), everything was taken. Okay... this is bordering on tmi level. They do good work. We'll leave it at that. This has been my go-to waxing salon for two years now and Lynaia is my #1 girl. She can do a brow, upper lip, and Brazilian in 20 minutes flat with very little pain. I mean, I won't say that I look forward to my appointments because, let's face it, getting a Brazilian is no picnic, but I do enjoy chatting with Lynaia during my service and she always makes me feel super comfortable. I feel like I'm just catching up with one of my girlfriends whenever I see her, it's almost like I can forget that I'm simultaneously getting my body hair ripped out! First off, for those who set an appt up online - you might want to call & double check with them the appt was made. I know this defeats the purpose of setting it up online but when you waste your time actually going in for no appt at all.. it's a bigger waste of time. After making an appt online you will receive a pop up that confirms who the appt is with and the date and time. I had selected "any provider" so my consultant was auto-assigned. This afternoon I walked in and was asked for my name and who the appt was with, after a quick search she apologized and said she couldn't locate me on the schedule. I told her the details on the pop up-who it was with, the date and time again. She looked once more, then back at me with an emotionless stare and repeated herself. I asked if she could fit me in somehow, but she continued to stare and say... "I'm sorry..." She didn't look at the calendar to see if there were any availabilities today, tomorrow or the rest of the week - or tried to even fake it. I booked this appt just yesterday, I doubt they were completely booked the rest of the week. The reason for my one star review is not only because of the glitch that occurred with my appt, resulting in my leaving work early being a waste of my time. It's also due to the lack of customer service. I have not recieved any services from the salon so I cannot provide a review or rating based on their actual services. I work with consultants and their calendars every day - it's my job. I've never not tried to help a client out, just stare at them unwilling to help or rectify the issue. I'm so done with this place. I've been going here about a year and a half and it's never the same person. Today was the last straw. I asked for not thin, not tapered, very natural, just a cleanup. This is what I got. Stay away from Tatiana. She clearly only knows how to do brows one way. My skin is so red and puffy. It's usually sensitive, but this is outrageous. After going to European Wax Center for years and being new to Seattle last month I was in DIRE need of a new wax salon. After some searching online The Wax Bar was one of the highest rated salons I found so I decided to give them a try. After reading some reviews I saw that they had happy hour discounted prices for their waxing services! (Yaaas!) only to find that the discounted price for a Brazilian was the same price I paid at EWC for a full priced wax.. happy hour pricing is $50 and full price is $74 I was able to make an appointment during HH hours on a Friday which was a relief. The only stipulation on making appointments during HH is that you have to call and make one the DAY OF which again was no problem for me. The facility is very clean and they have lots of cute jewelry, candles, and other knick knacks that you can browse through while you wait for your waxing specialist to come get you. Oh AND they offering a variety (including alcoholic) beverages for you to enjoy while you wait as well! After undressing and beginning I quickly realized that this salon does not use hard wax which is all I have ever used since I started getting wax. Georgina was my WC and she was lovely. Very pleasant, super sweet, and easy to talk to! I tried my very hardest to act like I wasn't scared but I was TERRIFIED. As I lie there wishing my lady bits goodbye I think Georgina could sense my fear and quickly struck up a conversation to distract me. This ended up being a very pleasant experience is not nearly as painful as I expected and that in part should be credited to Georgina. You could definitely tell she had been in the line of work for a while SHE WAS AWESOME. They also offer a $10 discount to your services when you come back within 4-5 weeks. Wow, $100 for a Brazilian! I guess I have been out of the wax game for a while. Well, I'm back, baby, thanks to the amazing job the Wax bar did! Pros: cute waiting room, very clean, easy booking, able to get appointment right away, professional staff, fast and (mostly) thorough work. Cons: my particular aesthetician wasn't very talkative which is just personal taste. She also forgot 2 spots, so I will probably try someone else next time. I will also try coming to happy hour so it doesn't cost a Benjamin! Overall I really liked this place and they gave great tips for ingrown prevention which so far have been pretty helpful. After getting sugared for the last 6 months, I decided to get a wax just to compare my skin and hair growth after about a week. I was looking for a place on Yelp to get waxed in West Seattle, and came upon The Wax Bar. What intrigued me was that they have a liquor license, not gonna lie!! I was also able to make an appointment same day. As the day unfolded I ended up having to go after the gym. Sooo sorry Kaylea! (I had a brazilian and underarm wax) Thank god she gave me some wet wipes to "freshen up" before she got to work! Kaylea was great. She was easy to talk to, worked fast, and didn't miss any spots. A week later my who-ha is still silky smooth and my underarms are completely hairless with no ingrowns in either place. I also had to pry myself away from buying everything in their adorable boutique! If you are looking to get waxed, whether a veteran or a rookie, I would go to The Wax Bar! I had a horrible waxing experience with Carissa. She took ten minutes and I was left with more breakage than I've ever had in my life and I've been getting waxes for over 10 years now. I've never had such poor technique used. She covered huge sections with wax and didn't even wait for it to dry. I went home and tweezered a pile of hair. Wrong (and not cute). I decided to give Wax Bar a try and just get a brazilian and I am so happy I did! The space is very friendly, welcoming and clean. Wax Bar is fantastic for all your waxing and facial services. I wax my brows every 6 weeks. They use a great oil to reduce the redness and then they use frozen globes to roll over your brow area. It feels so refreshing and calming. But the most amazing service that I've experienced us their Signature Wax Bar Facial! It's so amazing! You are pampered head to toe. But Lynaia is the best there! She is so kind and gentle. She's the reason I keep going back to this wonderful place. read more

Whenever I am in need for a bikini wax The Wax Bar is where I go. The location in West Seattle is ridiculously convenient since I live in West Seattle, I never have a problem getting an appointment, the pricing is competitive, but the biggest plus of all is esthetician Makenzie who gets all up in my biz, making everything tight and right down there. Overall, The Wax Bar is contemporary: clean, neat, streamlined. You are surrounded by white walls and white furniture. You almost feel like you are in a super fancy lounge. The products are minimal but that adds to the flow of the store. Everyone at the front desk I have encountered has been pleasant. There are greetings cards, jewelry, and body products plus nick nacks. One time I bought a friend of mine a crayon necklace. Score! Makenzie is my favorite waxer. She is a great conversationalist, effecient, and fast, a perfect trifecta. Oh, did I fail to mention you can buy beer or wine? First time getting waxed? Grab yourself a drink, loosen up, and get ready for that rip. Four stars all the way to The Wax Bar and ten starts to Makenzie for dealing with what I got growing below. read more

Alright, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't sensational either. And at these prices, I want every single treatment to be a miracle. I've gone to the West Seattle location for Brazilians twice (already a trek from my Maple Leaf home) Once on a Groupon, and again at full price just to give it a second chance. The first time again, wasn't terrible, but my esthetician was icy and short with me (although did a very thorough job) but I didn't appreciate the 'tude. Having a beer beforehand makes the pain much more tolerable, but unfortunately doesn't mask the snobbery of the staff. At least the front destkgirl is usually nice enough. The second time around, the girl who gave me my wax was so pregnant she was probably already in labor, and at first I felt sympathy for this poor girl working her VERY intimate job with fatigue and nausea. Then she also was rather abrupt and without going into too much gory detail, left a lot of "patches" and didn't come back in to ask if I was satisfied, as the other had done before. So I ended up paying full-price for one of the worst waxes I had ever received. Bummer. I still tipped both ladies 20%, because, let's face it, that's a nasty job, and I truly appreciate them doing it,. But c'mon girls, a little authentic kindness goes a loooong way. Waxing services are great, the place is clean, and Marielle is wonderful. I have been a client of hers for over a year. This review is customer service related only. For my most recent wax, I arrived 10 minutes late due to unexpected traffic (I had a brow wax and Brazilian scheduled). I even called ahead of time to let them know. When I showed up at 6pm instead of 5:50, they offered to do the brows, but not the Brazilian. Needless to say I was disappointed and declined. Let me also say, I COMPLETELY understand the importance of being on time. I know that it can throw off an an entire day of appointments if someone is late. I always show up on time, if not early. So the delay was a one-time fluke. And, there was a time when I have waited over 30 minutes for Marielle due to delay with other customers. Other times, there have been 10 minute delays and I've never made a complaint about any of them. Of course, this is all forgotten when it is the customer who is unexpectedly late... The bottom line is this: I simply would have appreciated the same courtesy I have given Wax Bar when they are delayed. We're talking about 10 minutes, not 30. This is a customer service industry and I am paying a lot of money for these services on a monthly basis. Unfortunately, Wax Bar missed an opportunity here with a long-time, regular customer. read more

This place is disgusting! I'm in the beauty industry and have worked with several estheticians, so I thought I knew what to expect. I recently married so I came for a brazillian wax and the bling bling. (Thought it would be fun.) The room appeared clean, had fresh linens, with lovely decor. However, after sitting up from the procedure, I noticed the stick she used to apply the wax was sitting above the pot and dripping into it. This is not hygienic at all. Just imagine rubbing crotches with some stranger. Wax generally isn't hot enough to kill bateria, only breed it. Also, my hair was not removed at the root and broke. This has since created ingrown hairs, not fun. The other Wax Bar locations may be quite lovely, but I would not recommend the West Seattle location. read more

I tried the Wax Bar after getting Brazilians at a different studio for a few months. My normal waxer was completely booked, so I decided I would try the Wax Bar based upon their good reputation. They were a bit pricier than my normal waxer, but I thought I would give it a shot. The staff was wonderful, the atmosphere was great, but the wax itself was sub-par. Most of the hair broke off instead of being pulled from the root, and I am still dealing with the ingrowns 8 months later. I went back to my normal waxer, and she and I are still trying to repair the damage. I won't go back to the Wax Bar. read more

I heart The Wax Bar. I'm not going to tell you what I go there for - perhaps I just go there for drinks? it's a mystery - but it is always a great experience. I've seen both Bevan and Marielle and found them both to be very good at what they do. The space is exceptionally clean and well put-together and while they sell products, they never push them on you the way some salon/spa places do. Yes, prices are steep, but you get what you pay for and luckily, they offer happy hour discounts as well as specials you can find out about if you're on their email list. This place is freaking amazing. I'm definitely a fan of this place! I went into this wax bar for a brazillian and it was seriously wasn't painful at all! It was quick and easy. I didn't even need a drink either. The person I had was super efficient, nice and very professional about everything. I'm definitely coming back to this place. The only downfall of this place are the prices are kind of steep/expensive but I can see why. They're so good at what they do! It's definitely worth the money if you can afford it. If not, they have awesome happy hour prices too. I'm definitely coming back for my brows next time! This place is easy to find, it's on the corner of 37th street. It's definitely a cute bar too! I've been to the Wax Bar a few times now and usually its a great experience however this last time I walked away with a nice big burn on my inner thigh. Its working its way through the healing process but when you pay $78 for a wax you'd expect it to be pretty darn flawless. The gal was lovely as usual (Id had her do my waxes before) but it made me feel a little uneasy about the amount I'd spent the following hours when the burn developed. read more
