I came in for a haircut and a partial lightening a few weeks ago. This was my third time at this salon, and I really, really wanted to love this place. The service is always fantastic and I love supporting local, women-owned businesses. I also thought my haircut was fantastic. However my latest hair coloring experience was beyond disappointing. At the beginning of the appointment, we discussed strawberry-blonde/rose-gold ish coloring based on the inspiration photos (on the right) but I walked out of the salon with literally hot pink hair. This color (on the left) is after my first post-dye shower, and two and a half weeks later, I still have pink in my hair. Not to mention that my hair now feels super dry and fried especially at the ends. This is not what I expected for $400. So now I'm just waiting for the pink to fade while I look around for a new salon.

Karie Filipovich did my hair, and she is AMAZING!! She was very informative of how the process would go, future plans for getting my hair to my goal, and she also really cares about the health of your hair in the process! 10/10 would recommend her to anyone and everyone. Absolutely will be coming back. (:

Karie is the best! She took my very sad hair and made it look adorable. I'm still in love with it after several months of grow out! My hair is so healthy since I saw her because of her recommended products. (I bought all of them!) I can't say enough good things about her.

High heat burns hair

I really didn't want to write this but I've had time to think about my experience and consider the status of my hair .... and I need to let others know. I went to Flourish to see Lynda in late July. Online appointment system seemed fine. Overall process wasn't smooth. Check in was awkward because they don't read notes until check in.... (had booked in advance). Stylist did & didn't listen.... got a color I was fine with but felt like she left the dye on way too long. Heat was too hot during blow dry; I didn't say anything because I'm bad at confrontation but my scalp was burning when she did the blow out. There was no communication that an heat protector product was used. Once she finished & I got to the counter I said "great, what do I owe you?" I was so ready to get out of there because I knew the damage had been done. Makes me wonder - my stylist in Orlando never caused any noticeable damage during blow drys and didn't use high/hot heat. Now, a couple months later, it's very apparent that 25% of my hair was broken during the dye/blow dry. I'm so sad. My hair looks so HORRIBLE. See the pic - I should just cut half of it off because it's so thinned out (*raise your hand if you hair only grows 1/4 of an inch a month!*) 1 Star for Atmosphere and look; really cute - props to the owner - I hope this was a one time f%^k up from Lynda.

I love this cute little Salon! Cat is my go to girl for cuts and just had my second balayage appointment with her. She was the first person to ever do anything to my hair other than a cut, so I was so nervous and particular it looked very natural while still noticeable . She is not only so sweet and fun, but she also really listens and it reflects in her work. She is so talented and makes me feel super pretty!! Highly recommend her.

I have never experienced such condescending management and ownership. I had straightened my hair for the first time a little over a week after I got my haircut. The hair looked unnatural, choppy and uneven, when I specifically asked for long layers. I called 3 times on 11/17 and left a voicemail around noon to ask to fix my haircut. I called again the following day, and I left a voicemail also around noon. I called again at 2pm and a woman responded, saying that she was waiting to hear back from the stylist and that's why she didn't respond. She also mentioned that the stylist who did my hair was fully booked for a long time, suggesting it would be hard for me to get my hair fixed. I told her that I felt really bad about my hair and wanted to get it fixed, or else I'd look for it elsewhere. She told me to send her pictures, and when I did, she said that Cat, the stylist, was with a client and is aware, and would get back to me. When she did not by the evening, I sent an email at 7:25pm demanding a refund because I wanted a place with a sense of urgency to fix my hair, which I have felt really uncomfortable with. I just got a response from the owner (quoted below), which was accusing me of being demanding, saying she will only give me a 30%, and saying that they are not a right fit for me, therefore NOT even proposing an option to fix my hair despite them not giving me a refund. Also, she accused me of not understanding their industry's standards, and obviously I don't.... I am a customer who is not in the industry. I want everyone to be aware of how condescending and passive-aggressive the owner Tiann is, and also how their idea of customer service is blaming the customer, who, mind you, spent $75 plus a tip on a service. In addition, although she is defending Cat, Cat told me on the day of my haircut 11/9/19, that she would text me to schedule my keratin, since she had another client right after me. It has been 10 days and I have received NO text. So clearly lack of communication goes beyond their 24-48 hour window, yet they choose to accuse their customers of being "demanding". I HIGHLY recommend that everyone read the owner, Tiann's, message below - Good Morning, "Hello I'm Tiann and I'm the owner of Flourish Beauty. I cannot offer you a full refund. We absolutely do our best at communication with our clients and wanting them to be happy with there services. Cat had planned to call you back this morning as she works 10 hour shifts on sunday and monday and is fully booked out until March. She did not have to time to reach out to you until now. We understand you are not happy with your hair, and with our clients we always want to fix it if this happens. Unfortunately you are demanding and seem to be not understanding of how this industry works with a 24-48 hours follow through with communication. We have years of experience and all of our stylist are professional and so great at what they do. I do not feel we are the right fit for you. I will refund you 30% of your service today. This should show in your bank account within 48 hours. We wish you well. Tiann Owner, Flourish Beauty"

Made an appointment for a hair donation I double checked with registration if they're really ok…read morewith someone coming in at 11am on Christmas Eve. They told me there was an appointment at 10am already scheduled. I come here at 10:45am, it's closed. And now it is 11am. No one there. Kind of not cool. Was looking forward to donating my hair. I didn't receive an email or phone cancelation either. I confirmed my appointment in the email as well. My advice, if you can't show up, call me or email me. Also, it's especially not cool when it's a hair donation for a kid. I understand life happens, but I drove 1 hr for this. The least you can do is inform me of a cancelation. Also, just to add, I was also getting charged for the cut too. So the stylist was suppose to get paid/tipped.

I had not known that otherwise I would have rejected the appointment. My hair lifts easily, and Haley noted that. Despite that, she used too strong a developer and damaged my hair beyond belief. Not only that. She missed half of my head with toner. She noticed. And didn't tell me. She let me leave the salon with half of my head not toned. It's very noticeable from the back. I didn't see it at the appointment because she didn't show me the back - and now I know why. That's the worst of it, but she also didn't rinse my hair properly, so I still had product dried up and crusty in my hair. And she barely used any product while she blew out my hair on the highest heat, burning my scalp a couple of times and damaging my hair even more. And it was still a bit wet by the time I left. I'm usually pretty relaxed, so I didn't complain until after I went home and noticed that my head wasn't properly toned (which is also not that hard to do, I've done it myself during covid lockdowns - so it really is incredible that she messed up this bad and didn't say anything, hoping I wouldn't notice). Nothing about my experience with Haley was positive. Her work was incredibly sloppy, negligent, and dishonest. Edited to add (in response to Howie, the owner): You know the issue isn't with the toner itself - I did not see that she didn't do the back otherwise I obviously wouldn't have been "pleased". Again, you know this. I have a photo attached. You see how bad it is. I don't know why you're trying to act like that quality of service is okay. I didn't realize Red Chair's standards were so low, and I regret that I gave you all a shot :/ Also, I have to spend the holidays looking like this. So thanks for that.

My hair had gotten so tangled that it was matted, I had really long hair that was difficult to manage. I was devastated by the thought of losing all my hair- I felt that mu femininity was wrapped up in having long hair. The empathy of the receptionist and stylist blew me away. They got me in for a consult the next day, showed genuine care and concern that made the awful situation seem less dire. I was reassured that I would not need a Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta haircut. I ended up really, really liking the cute cut they gave me- it made me not mind having short hair! The ladies at Red Chair rescued me from Hair Hell, and I am so grateful to them! Will be coming back for other services!

Here is why I love having her do my hair: She is…read morereally in touch with trends, but is super creative and loves to work in a unique twist, that is inspired by my personal style. :) Color - Last time I was in, we worked with the ombre trend, but she added a few blonde and red pieces that went all the way to my root, with some fire-y red ombre style chunks all over and little peeks of black. Also, the color is a-symmetrical, one side has more blonde, and the other, more red. Turned out so cool! The cut - usually, I think my hair looks better worn up, but since Amy has been cutting it, I love wearing it down. Finally, she is so friendly and a joy to chat with. Amy has been doing my hair for awhile, but she just started at Kitty Hawk. What a cool space, easy to find, easy free parking and the shop is really cute and clean! Get your buns in Amy's chair! :)
