Beehive Salon is also an Aveda salon, so their products are all-natural, and not animal tested. It always smells so good in there! I love this place. It's always clean, well lit, and playing great music. The staff is always smiling and offering you some of their wonderful, addictive tea. Seriously, it's like crack. It's minty and warm and delicious. But the tea is just a perk as the work they do is really phenomenal. I see Kelly every 4-7 weeks and she does an amazing job on my hair. I usually get my hair cut twice a year and just walking in the door makes me feel pampered. They ask if I would like tea or coffee (the tea is amazing) and are super kind. Kassy is super great but they are all excellent. One thing I really dislike about hair salons is when they push their product and make me feel uncomfortable about not buying anything. Beehive doesn't do this at all and they give me great styling tips without saying "...and our XX cream really helps with that available at checkout". Love them, highly recommend! read more

I recently had a cut and color done be Lisa. I loved, loved, loved how Lisa cut my hair. She is friendly and very competent. My one criticism is not with Lisa but the cost of the services. I found it very expensive... $220. Yikes. I probably would not have had my hair done at that place had I known. Of course, I should have asked. Clarize is AMAZING! you never leave her without feeling like your hair is anything less than perfect. she communicates with you the entire time to make sure every strand is cut/colored how you like. she asks you throughout the service what you think so there's never an awkward moment when you feel bad for speaking up. After moving to West Seattle, I decided to switch salons. When I called, I asked for a stylist who could color and one who could cut short hair. One was recommended, and I booked an appointment. Once there, the stylist took 15 minutes to discuss what I wanted, and she also made some very helpful suggestions. I was completely comfortable with the stylist and her level of knowledge. Recently I had a partial foil service done at Beehive West Seattle. Unfortunately, the front portion of my hair turned out brassy, the foils were too streaky for my liking and the foil looked like it had about a month's worth of grow out right off the bat. The hairstylist said that I could call to come back if I didn't like the color. Well, I did call back and was not able to get in to be seen for another two weeks. I went in last night to have it corrected. After toning my hair, the stylist was surprised at the color that came out which was pumpkin orange. She again tried to correct the orange. After her attempt at correcting the orange, I asked if she'd like to help her other customer and then come back to finish my hair (dry and style my hair). She asked if I would just be okay to go home with wet hair. Yes, wet hair. I was shocked. Not only did she not fix what she had previously done, after over two hours there, I left with the front and only the front of my hair a bizarre yellow/orange and then she sent me home with WET HAIR! She did give me some samples for my trouble, apologized and did offer to have me come back if I didn't like my color. I almost wanted to laugh. I will never step foot in that salon again. Guess that's why people go to Gene Juarez. I never should have ventured away from there. read more

I've visited this salon before when I lived in West Seattle and had the best haircut as well as waxing services. The most recent experience was just very confusing and awkward. I made an appointment online and that was probably my first mistake. I should have waited until Clarize was available, because she cut my hair last time and did an amazing job. I got my hair done by Kelly and although showing her a photo of the style that I wanted she gave me a short bob. Now in fairness she asked numerous times that it was going to be a short cut from the long hair that I had and I am not worried that it won't grow into the cut I want. However, it just seems like two different experiences. I guess the next day when you actually need to style it yourself you realize how different the haircut really is. The first time I asked for this haircut by Clarize she set me up with all the tools and supplies to create the look at home, which was a great experience and I left not feeling bad about purchasing all the products. This time Kelly didn't seem very interested in doing the cut, I even asked if she could style it after and she told me that it was an additional cost which I didn't mind but the way she asked me was off-putting. I ended up needing to leave so she didn't need to take the additional time to do my hair(she seemed relieved). Lesson learned - my hair will grow but I wish it was a better customer experience and that my haircut looked like the photo. I will say that this was the first time that happened to me at this salon so the two star rating is purely for this one-off visit. read more

I had an appointment with Lisa, who cancelled the appointment one hour before the scheduled time of the appointment. I had my hair cut by Anna. I showed her a picture of the cut I wanted and we discussed the cut in depth. When she was finished cutting my hair I had a completely different cut. My hair was 4 inches shorter then the picture and not even close to the same style! I'm completely baffled as to why Anna cut my hair in the style I now have ??? This place has excellent customer service. I booked an appointment online specifying I'd like an experienced hairstylist who can handle thick hair; I ended up with Kelly. Maybe it was the fact that her puppy kept her up all night, but her passive demeanor went about telling me that I couldn't have hair like Selena Gomez because she has mostly hair extensions and that she could give me a shaved head for Halloween. I wrote it off as sarcasm. When I did tell her what I wanted, side swept bangs, layers and thinned out hair, she seemed to know what she was doing. After an hour of messing with my hair, I received choppy flat bangs, no layers, and an uneven attempt at thinning my hair. I asked her if she liked the cut afterward, she told me of course, it's a low-maintenance haircut. I may have looked it at the appointment, but I am not a low maintenance girl. Do not get your hair cut from Kelly. The only nice thing about Beehive is their excellent customer service. I called to leave a review after getting home and realizing how awful my hair looked. They offered a return of payment on services. Needless to say I will not be going back. read more

I've been in the market for a new salon in West Seattle after my favorite stylists abandoned me for Southern California, this salon did not disappoint! As per Yelp reviews (shout out to Yelp) I schedule my appointment online and left detailed notes about my haircut expectations. Beehive got back to me immediately confirming my appointment with Lisa, who was amazing! She was so informative, friendly and helped me develop a "hair plan" for growing out my pixie which, let's be honest, is a real pain. The cut was fast, easy and she explained the products she as using and even asked if I wanted to use them rather then just dumping them on my hair. I even got the new client $20 off deal! Most importantly, my haircut is cute and exactly what I wanted! Definitely excited about future appointments with this salon! read more

My first issue with this salon after going to them for service three times is they couldn't even put my name correctly in the system. It was a completely different last name. This made it impossible to find my information. I paid $180 for a full highlight and was sent home with my hair half way dry. After spending that much money, time to style it or even fully dry it is expected. I requested a small trim due to growing out my hair during this same visit. The stylist cut 2 inches higher on one side from the other. From the back people comment how uneven my hair cut is daily. Stay away from this salon. Over priced and under qualified staff! read more

I have been here several times and it just keeps getting better. I cannot remember who first cut my hair, but she did an okay job. It wasn't bad but it was anything special. Then I came in for a bang trim and I got Clarize and I could tell even from the bang trim that she knew what I like so I have been with her since! She is one of the first stylists I have had who can understand what I want and actually make it happen. I finally have the cut I want after so many years of being disappointed! She's always been open to me offering my opinion to make sure I love the cut & coming back to make small changes as well.
