I've been meaning to write a review here for Julia Durfee who did both a haircut for me & a full balayage! In some ways, I'm glad I waited to write the review because I know just how much I love the cut & color because both are growing out really well (a huge thing I emphasized when telling Julia what I wanted, and she nailed it). I was referred to Julia by a friend and was a bit nervous since she's my first stylist since moving to Seattle. I was so pleasantly surprised by how great Julia was at interpreting what I wanted. Julia was also so personable and extremely flexible when I had to reschedule due to a family illness. In her spare time, Julia does incredible work volunteering in Cambodia and Thailand helping victims of sex trafficking escape by teaching them her craft (so they are able to work in a salon and have the means to make money outside of prostitution). I cannot recommend Julia enough! I've followed her here to Part 3 in West Seattle because there's no way i'm letting anyone but her touch my hair! My favorite thing about my haircuts is they're always exactly what I want. Julia is amazing at listening to her client's needs. I usually get a low maintenance style, and I've had issues with other stylists trying to go all crazy and give me something that needs to be styled everyday. I've never had that problem with Julia. On the other hand, she cuts some of my friend's hair and delivers amazing service for them as well, even though we all have very different hair styles; long and low maintenance, short and super curly, shoulder length and dramatic, etc. She's very versatile in what she can offer! Lastly, Julia does amazing work in her spare time volunteering her services for people experiencing homelessness, and even traveling oversees to teach her craft to men and women in developing countries to give them an escape from prostitution. Corina is great! After years of searching for a good stylist, I finally found her about a year ago. She does such a great job that I am willing to drive 45 minutes from Redmond to see her. I recently had my haircut with Christina Darragh and I really like it! My hair is curly and coarse, so it's not easy to work with and I'm a bit fussy as I am a former hairdresser myself. Christina was patient and knowledgable and had so many great ideas, too. Part 3 Salon - Day after a trip to Part 3, hair looks so good! - Hair Salons Near Me - Seattle, Washington

This was my first visit to Part 3 Salon in West Seattle, and I was lucky enough to have Christina Darragh cut my hair. From the moment I stepped in the salon she was incredibly warm and welcoming. I am in the process of growing my hair out for the first time in years. I have thick, frizzy, and wavy hair and it is not easy to find someone who understands how to work with it. She really took the time and effort to understand what I was looking for and completely delivered. This is the first time I did not go home and try to fix my hair. I've been seeing Daniele for last 3 years. And I've gone from pixies to lobs. Daniele is so meticulous. I've been to Seven, Gary Manual, Aveda, Proclub spa, Rudy's and a bunch of other random places. I can't even compare. I'm pretty OCD and with other people's haircuts I always have to "fix" a lot! Tbh, I do occasionally cut in..pun absoultley intented but it's super minor. I originally visited the studio to schedule with Danielle who has excellent across the board reviews, but she was on vacation. Rather than waiting, I decided to schedule with Christina who was at the salon when I walked in the first time. She told me she had previously been a salon owner-operator in West Seattle, so I trusted her as a seasoned professional. I have very high expectations when it comes to my hair and have been a dedicated client of VannEdge Salon in downtown Seattle, and Lisa Power Salon prior to that, but thought I would try a less expensive option close to home, as I recently became a full time student and need to save money where possible. Well, I quickly realized that hair care is not one budget item that I am willing to adjust. At my fist appointment with Christina, I arrived a few minutes early and waited, and waited...and waited. No show after nearly 45 minutes, so her colleague sent her a message, as did I with no response. The stylist who was there said she could fit me in in an hour, so I agreed and left for herself me. Shortly after, I received a text from Christina apologizing and saying that she thought my appointment was an hour later than what was actually scheduled. I'd been in that position before and decided to give her a pass this time. 15 minutes later, we met at the salon and talked about what I wanted. My hair was in desperate need of a trim, but I only wanted the minimum taken off because I am growing my hair long again after a super short cut. I also have long layers and didn't want anything crazy in that area, so we agreed on minimal length to be taken off from the bottom and a cleanup on the layers. She also put a color remover on my hair to lighten some of the dark color buildup around my face and crown that resulted from my at home efforts to color some minimal gray roots. The color removal was very effective and it looked very nice and shiny. The cut, however, was just okay. She cut a great deal more on the layers than we agreed on and eventually there was a huge pile of hair on the floor. She then proceeded to cover my hair with a ton of shine serum even after I repeatedly said I didn't like any product on my hair. The shine serum covered up the layer issue, as it made my hair extremely flat and it was difficult to differentiate between the layers and the bottom of my hair. When I next washed my hair, I clearly saw that the first layer in the back of my head was about 3" shorter than the hair on the bottom. The side layers were also too short and gave a sort of mushrooming look to the sides of my head. I decided to live with it because I didn't want to have her cut my hair again and I was able to hide the cut in a bun. Truthfully, it didn't look terrible, but it was not a cut that I would expect from a seasoned professional. So, fast forward a couple of weeks and I colored my roots again with a lighter color, but it was still much too dark. Since Christina did a nice job with color correction at my first visit, I thought I'd try her again just for color services. Long story short, after 2+ hours of messing with my hair, I left with an inch of brownish-orange roots. The stylist I had originally intended to see (Danielle) was there and it was clear that she wanted to help, but also didn't want to interfere. At the end, Christina said she wouldn't charge me (um, yeah) and that she would be fine if I wanted to reschedule with Danielle so that she could fix the new problem...and the one for which I had originally scheduled since there was no change there:/. I had noticed that all of Danielle's clients had beautiful hair (as does Danielle) and they were all very happy to see her, so I did schedule with her. However, I later decided to stay with VannEdge Salon since I've always have amazing service and results there and will be having the color corrected tomorrow. Note that I cannot speak to any other stylists at this salon, but I did observe some pretty happy clients in other chairs, so it may be worth a shot. read more

Julia did an AMAZING job on my hair. I went in with a red (ugh) color all over that had been done poorly at a salon prior to my visit with Julia. I have super thick hair and it was down to the middle of my back. Julia listened, gave detailed suggestions and turned my hair into an absolute masterpiece! She made sure it was perfect and that I was 100% happy before letting me leave the salon. On top of being Ana amazing stylist she is a wonderful human overall. I have curly hair, that absorbs color quickly and with the wrong cut, my hair puffs out. Valarie, is truly a color and curly hair master. She listens to what you want, offers practical solutions and teaches you how to do it for yourself. Not only did she "save the day" she made me remember why I was her client for so many years. Valarie has a great personality and offers exceptional customer service. I appreciate her ability to walk you through what's she doing to your hair so that you can make your hair look like you just walked out of salon. Great service, fantastic results, an actual expert that knows what the newest techniques or products are and a great person doing the work.
