Not only was she phony-nice and hacked at my hair (trust me, soccer mom would have been a compliment compared to what she did), but she's also a HUGE TRUMP SUPPORTER. I recently moved to Seattle from LA and had to find a new stylist for the routine Brazilian Blowout and haircut I get. Called Seattle Style Salon on a Saturday and got an appointment for the coming Tuesday with Rebecca. It could not have gone better - my hair has never felt as smooth or straight after a Brazilian! The haircut was everything I could have asked for as well; she took great care to make sure it was symmetrical, stylish, and what I wanted. Worst hair salon I've ever been in. Prices are way to high and that would be understandable if their work was profesional, but I got my hair done here last week and it completely sucks. They literally ruined my hair I did not get the color that I wanted nor the style. I'm very disappointed, the only reason why I made an appointment in this place was because of the reviews. Now I know for sure that I'll never set a foot in this place again. Just lost $250, in exchange for a shitty hair. Update: It is the right salon, I was attended by Kayla. She was very nice but she did not have any knowledge of what she was doing. I have been devoted to Denise at Seattle Style since she first opened the salon in it's old location. At the time, I was over-plucking my own eyebrows and dying at my own hands (totally the wrong shade!). Denise gently and tactfully suggested I grow out my eyebrows and mixed together a color that flattered my skin tone beautifully. I got married the next summer, and Denise gave me an updo that made me feel like a princess! Since then, only one other person has cut my hair-- and that was because I was living in London and couldn't make it back to Seattle! Michele is crazy good and your hair's new best friend. Amazing cut/color. I have very high standards, having worked in the industry for ten years, and I would recommend Michele to everyone - men, women, kids. She always listens, and has a very sweet, grounded personality - none of this holier-than-thou, trendier-than-ever attitude that afflicts so many stylists. Michele just makes you look and feel like the best version of yourself. I've always been really sensitive to color - my scalp, eyes, skin - but was vain enough to say WHO CARES while going blind and burning the shit out of my head. Whatever color line Michele uses - and I think it's organic, or 'green' somehow - does none of that. ZERO. It doesn't smell like a chemical wasteland, it doesn't irritate my scalp, and I have no allergic reactions to it. Getting my color done with her is really pleasant, and I always leave with a happy noggin. Michele has fixed my bangs before - when I took it upon myself to cut them like a six-year old - and she made me look human again. She's not *too* conservative with her cuts, but also not a wild woman - I like to think she's balanced, which is hard to come by in that industry. She's very professional - a grown-up, even! - but it also feels like you're hanging at her house, just chatting. To me, a phenomenal stylist is three parts: a hair god, a therapist, and a friend. Michele is all of these. The salon she's at is really nice - modern, stylish, warm - and the women who work there are friendly, too. Michelle Myers is a pro. My standards of haircare are high after living in creative hubs such as NY and Florida and I have REALLY strugggled to find good haircare in Seattle. I was excited and lucky to have found Michelle. She listens, cuts curly hair really well, uses and organic hair color line that really works and her rates are affordable. Oh and...if you're not someone who enjoys sitting in the same place for hours - she will make it so. Go see her - her 25 years experience will speak for itself. I cannot help but rave about Michele Meyers and what she has done to my hair. First, a brief history: I used to be That Girl with the hair that went down to about four inches above my buttcrack, and would freak out if I had more than an inch trimmed. Michele would dutifully trim just the bare minimum and she would dye my roots as well (hey, it's not easy going grey at 29) and I was always very pleased with the results, because she actually LISTENED. (You very long-haired girls know what I'm talking about.) Fast-forward about a year (this was August of 2008) and a tragic barbecue accident singed a huge chunk off my lengthy tresses. I went to Michele for a cure and she absolutely transformed what was left of my hair into the most chic, amazing short hairstyle I had ever had the privilege of calling my own. She had to cut 14+ inches, and sculpted what was left into a work of art. Strangers -- several a day -- would stop me in the street, DEMANDING to know who cut my hair. I have had women ask me for Michele's number, ask me to take photos of my hair, and when I tell them the barbecue story, it's unanimous: Thank God for that barbecue!! I have since kept my short hair (I'm a short hair person! Who knew?) and now have it even shorter, in a fun pixie cut. Michele absolutely transformed me and I have never felt sexier or more feminine, even with the very short hair. Can I tell you I've lived in Seattle for 4 years and 2 weeks before I move out of state I found an AMAZING stylist named Michelle! She listened to everything I said and I brought in pics of a short pixie cut/ faux hawk style and she mastered it! The first time I left somewhere LOVING my hair! She's not only a great stylist, but VERY affordable ($45!) and the sweetest personality ever! I love this woman, so annoyed it took me so long to find her!! Much like another reviewer, I feel awkward and like I missed something in not being able to give this place a glowing 5-star review like everyone else. I had neither Michelle or Heidi for my haircut, but I can't seem to remember the stylist's name. Which basically describes the haircut I received. Not very memorable; and yet memorable in how lackluster the service I received made me feel. I had been to Ola in West Seattle before to see Julie; it was a good haircut and she didn't need much direction, but pretty expensive so I thought I would try somewhere else close to home. SSS with its 5 star rating and being close to home sounded perfect! I'm hardly picky on my hair (it grows back after all) and I rarely even get my hair cut. My stylist hardly said a word to me, halfheartedly gave me some side swept bangs and trimmed my split ends, and sent me out the door. My overall feeling was that I had inconvenienced or offended her in some way. Everyone else in the salon seemed to be having a good time and chatting away with their stylist while I sat in mute and uncomfortable silence. PROS: Great/cute ambiance, close to home. CONS: Lackluster service, haircut, and no parking except on the street. read more

Holy FABULOUS Batman!! Let me tell you, I have had some rotten haircuts in my time, I have thick wavy hair that brings out the worst in stylists. Well, my haircut drought is OVER! I live right around the corner from this salon and got a referral from my waxer to see Heidi at Seattle Style Salon. She is wonderful! We had lovely conversation. And my hair? My hair is perfect. Heidi listened to everything I wanted done, and really worked with me on figuring out what had not worked for me in the past. I also know how frustrating it is to walk out of a salon with a haircut that you could never recreate. I have found this style to be very user friendly for me. Like others, I made an appointment with Michelle based on the positive reviews she received here. My normal hair stylist is in Wallingford and I was hoping that I could find a good hairstylist in West Seattle to save me the long commute. I also heard that Michelle was good with short hair (which I have) so I was really hoping that she lived up to the rave reviews she received on this site. In short--she didn't. She was a huge disappointment, so much so that I wouldn't be surprised if the rave reviews on this site were friends of hers (I'm not saying that's the case--just that I wouldn't be surprised). To begin, because my hair is so thick, it normally takes most hairstylsts a full hour to wash it, cut it, thin it out, and style it. Plus, I'm a girl with short hair -- it takes time to shape it so that the haircut looks feminine and not masculine. Michelle, however, completed the haircut in less than 30 minutes. That's 30 minutes to wash, cut, thin, and style my hair. Ack! The end result, predictably, was hair that wasn't cut well, wasn't thinned out appropriately, and worse -- didn't grow out well. In two weeks, my hair looked bushy all over again. It was the worst haircut I've received in Seattle since moving here. I am now back with my old hairstylist and happy for it. He may be located in Wallingford, but my hair looks great when I leave his salon and it still looks fabulous 5-6 weeks later. read more

I have been going here for years, not only for the consistently great haircuts and colors, but also for the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff. I have very thick, long hair that I am pretty particular about. Before I found Seattle Style, every haircut was a gamble, and the odds were hardly ever in my favor. Denise (the owner) always takes lots of time to listen to what I want, and provides honest feedback about what will work for my hair. I always leave loving my hair, and feeling nice and relaxed. The salon has great ambiance, and the stylists seem to be friends with every client who comes in the door. On the rare occasion I'm booking my appointment on short notice and haven't been able to see Denise, I have made appointments with Anne. She's also great! Loved my haircut and had a lot of fun chatting with her. This place feels like a high-end salon experience, but the prices are very reasonable. So glad to have found this gem! They also do waxing and lash extensions. It's right on 35th avenue, and there is a parking lot in back of the building, very convenient! read more

After reading so many wonderful reviews about Michelle, I was excited to get my hair cut at Seattle Style Salon. The result, however was a huge disappointment. My hair was left without any shape and hung limply on my head, which was the exact opposite of what I asked for. Furthermore, it was very asymmetrical - not in an interesting way. Michele Meyers has cut and colored my hair for years, using organic products with no toxic odors which still deliver dramatic results. Michele has great skills, and yes indeed she is also loaded with charm. If I have seen a better haircut than mine, it might possibly be my husband's, another loyal Michele Meyers client. I have seen other men Michele has groomed and I would have to say she is a particular standout with men's hair. The salon itself is aesthetically sophisticated, handsomely designed. Yet the staff is unpretentious. Really lovely, as others have mentioned. And it's in the neighborhood! That's a shock. Jody is absolutely FABULOUS. She is so kind, patient, skilled and meticulous. My husband was the one to find her and I have been back 3 times since my first cut and color in May 2013. Every time she makes my hair look incredible. I would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone, and I do, all the time when people ask me who does my hair. I use to go to Gene Juarez and never left for less than $300, now, for half the price I get to see one expert stylist who I know has my best interest at heart. I saw the reviews and thought it was promising since it was close to my house. I got highlights/lowlights and a cut. The cut was good but the highlights/lowlights not so much. I had a blond streak on my bang then no other blonde streak til almost the back of my head and it wasn't even on my part. I was disappointed. I wear ponytails most of the time to hide the unevenness. the place on a rainy day is dim so maybe that's why she couldn't see and I was her last appt maybe that's why or...? So I Probably won't be going to go back and I will be going back to my old place farther away. read more

I really needed a haircut, so I made the appointment. And am I glad I did. Sue gave me the best haircut I've had in the 5 years I've lived in Seattle. She was great. Michelle was recommended to me by my previous hair stylist who was retiring from the business. She was personable and did a great job. Even though I forgot to mention when scheduling that I wanted a blow out after my cut, she still got it done. A previous review mentioned "friends" of hers posting reviews but I can vouch for myself only that I knew nothing of this salon before I went in. My nails were splitting, peeling, and very short and unattractive. The manicurist, Elizabeth, is worth her weight in gold! She had a challenge and did she ever turn things around. My nails have never looked better. They are growing, and I now have free edges around all of the nails. She is very knowledgeable, professional, and is a credit to her profession. I walked into Style Salon because I lived close and needed a pedicure. I was greeted by a familiar face, Michelle. She recognized me from years ago and has been my stylist since that day. She was able to help me get through a strange time with my hair and knew exactly what cut would work for me. I had some changes in texture and thickness due to pregnancy and child birth. I usually hate going anywhere to get my hair done. I dislike the process so much that I usually only get my hair cut once a year but every once in a while I get this urge to do something different. A lot of the time this urge results in chopping off my long hair but this time I decided to dye it instead since I usually regret chopping my hair. I moved to West Seattle recently and took a chance on Seattle Style Salon because it was close and had sane prices. I am so happy I made that appointment! I can not express how great Anne is. I had my hair done by Rebecca. She was very pleasant and friendly. She did a great job and did pretty much exactly what I wanted. My only complaint is about the salon itself, not the stylists. The first thing would is a price discrepancy, I know you get what you pay for, but I think knowing an accurate amount ahead of time is helpful and keeps you from feeling taken advantage of. My second complaint is really just that the atmosphere of the salon was rather drab. The decor was out dated and things were dreary. But, I know decor is really all about personal preference and perspective. Also the salon was dark, which I thought was odd. read more

Easiest 5 star review I've ever posted. Denise, salon owner & my stylist, is so lovely, gracious, Flexible & Accommodating and incredibly talented at color & cut/style. All the stylist I've been with are great. I had been bouncing around stylist for years with some luck here & there but either stylist left or mostly there was not flexibility to get appts. Basically, I would've put up with anyone if they were exceptional. Until I met Denise, I never found a stylist and salon that really made my hair absolutely beautiful & I so enjoy the wonderful salon atmosphere & comfort. I came here after I saw a freinds hair transform from frump to fantastic! My hair was colored wrong, hit or miss, style old and tired and I couldn't grow out my hair past my shoulders without tons of split ends. I used to hate getting my hair done. It was always such a hassle. Because of that, I used to travel out of town 5 hours round trip to get my hair cut, just because I couldn't bear switching to someone new after I moved to Seattle. When my hairdresser finally retired, I was in a bind - now I had to do something. I decided to try Seattle Style Salon because Denise has been doing a friend's hair for over 20 years and it always looks great. I decided to try Denise and see if I liked her and how she does my hair. I'm glad I did! Now, my hair looks great too (much better than when I was making the long commute to my former hairdresser!). Denise knows hair. She knows what will look good on you and is really tactful at making good recommendations so that you come out of her salon looking good. The products she uses are excellent, not too harsh, not too expensive, and they smell great. As owner of the salon, Denise takes pride in the way everything looks and runs. She picks other stylists who fit in well there, so I'm sure you'll be fine with whomever you choose.
