I had a massage by Samantha that saved my life!!! Is that an exaggeration? Maybe NOT! I was dealing with horrible hip and back pain and a massage was my last effort before going to the doctor and signing up for PT. I was able to get a last min appt, told Sam everything that was going on and we decided it wasnt going to be a relaxing massage and instead we were getting to work. It hurt! We were working through some serious pain. It's been 4 days since the appt and I feel sooo much better and was even able to get back in the gym and resume my regular workouts. Malari was my Aesthetician and she was wonderful. She was very detail oriented and went over everything several times to make sure the hair was removed and I appreciated that attention to detail. I had a really fantastic experience with my lash tent and lift at the skin firm. Georgia was patient and walked me through every single step. For context, I'm not the kind of individual that likes anything artificial or intrusive when it comes to my body, hair, and skin. I don't wear a lot of make up and I've only worn lash extensions for my wedding or moments like that. I was really nervous about the whole thing because I know I have thin eyelashes and not that many to begin with. I decided to take the plunge because my eyelashes have become really long lately and were not curling with mascara as they usually did. This experience was really well worth it. Again, Georgia was pretty incredible. The whole appointment took about an hour and 15 minutes but I didn't experience any pain and just got to sit back and relax. The results are so flattering. My first visit was fine. But I knew I should try out the other aestheticians. Second time I had Georgia for a maintenance 60 min hibiscus facial. She is amazing. Pressure was perfect for all massage aspects, extractions were efficient, feet covered in hot towels, cold stones for the face, which was refreshing. Sam is the MOST AMAZING massage therapist, and she's what keeps me coming back to The Skin Firm! I suffer from anxiety and am a CrossFit newbie, which led me to try and find a more regular massage situation as an investment in my overall health. I feel so lucky to found this place! All of the staff that I have had service from (Sam, Amy, Georgia, Andrea, Malari, and Emerald) are kind, knowledgeable, and have their own energy/personality about them. This review I will focus on Emerald because omg have I found a sugar magician! For history I have had sugaring done for the last 7 years and while most are technically the same, there have only been two rockstars. The first was a former employee at the Fairmont but she sadly moved away to NYC and since then all of my sugaring experience the same BUT I now found Emerald! She makes my sugaring experience pain-free! It's VERY hard to find a sugar specialist who can do this because it's a specific flicking technique that they do and I don't really know how hard it is to learn but like I said she is the second person in my history of sugar to have done it. Just saw Malari for a facial, and it was AMAZING. The vibe here is great. Not the stereotypical spa vibe with bamboo and stones everywhere. Very modern but casual, with chill indie type rock playing on a low volume. The table/bed is pre-warmed, so it was downright delightful to get comfy on before we started. I have been to at least 4 lash ladies hoping someone would finally get it right, but gave up each time. Most lash artists I've been to did not consider my lash integrity, lash type and eye shape. I'd always come out with dramatic, thick and heavy lashes that would weigh down my natural eye lashes and they just never looked right. Winter came. I Flew to the east coast. I ate a bunch of garbage Christmas food. I flew back from the east coast. I'm not 25 anymore. Events aligned in just the right way that I found myself seeking out my second facial ever (the first I had when I was like 23 on vacation in Europe, and when I think back on my 23-year-old face getting a facial I want to tell it to put my money away and go spend it on a slightly nicer dinner, or something cool from the gift shop at the modern art museum, or to buy some lecherous Frenchman a drink, because it needs those things more than it needs a facial). Anyway! I did some internet sleuthing, and scheduled an appointment at The Skin Firm with Malari. The waiting area is small, but well appointed, and I don't get the feeling its the kind of place where very many bodies are occupying it at once. They've got water, and tea, and dishes of candies, which I love very much, but skipped this time cause Christmas. The rooms where the face magic happens are good sized. The lighting is soothing. The table, and various tinctures, leave it feelings like an old-timey doctors office, but like a magic kind where people definitely don't die of diseases that we can now prevent and cure with vaccines and modern medicine. Malari was a treasure. I explained it was my first facial (I couldn't bring myself to tell her about the one I had when I was a baby-woman), and she took the time to instruct me on the prep on my end (there's a gown, and a hair net, and you get to decide how naked you want to be while you're getting your face done. I left my pants on), and explain what it might feel like for me as she was performing the facial (there are hot towels, and cold goos, and wet steams that blow right into your face, so it was nice to be prepared for all those varying sensations). As for the facial itself, she was wonderful; slow, and gentle, she has such an easy touch, and seemed to know just what my skin needed. I don't know if you know, but right after a facial your face is kind of goopy the rest of the day, but the next day you look really awesome. I'll definitely be back from my second (third) facial with Malari. I appreciate that that's all the more doable with their maintenance pricing. Hooray for The Skin Firm! read more

As a gal with super-sensitive skin, I came to realize a couple years ago that I needed to up my skincare game. With a quick search on Yelp, I decided to try out a wonderful, local little spot just two minutes from my place, and boy, was I in for a treat. Where do I start? For one, the owner, Amy, is FABULOUS! Truly, she is. I explained to her my skin issues and sensitivity, and right away she knew what to try. Over the course of a few visits, Amy had thoughtfully picked out new waxes to use, along with different potions and lotions to apply and soothe my skin. Now, over a year later and after going pretty regularly, I can say that my underarms have become beautiful, painless creatures that love to be out and about on sunny spring and summer days. Amy opened up a whole new world to me where waxing did not just equal a slight pinch of pain, but rather an entire solution to a problem I thought I would have to live with forever. Hair grows back slower, has become thinner over time, the discoloration had faded, and the actual time spent during the visit is actually pretty relaxing. Overall I would highly recommend this place to others with sensitive skin types or those who are conscientious about the types of waxes and ingredients put on their skin. I truly have never been to a skin care/waxing place as incredible as this one. I've been going here to get my eyebrows done for about 9 months now and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for myself. I decided to go to The Skin Firm for the first time after searching on Yelp for the best eyebrow waxing places. Immediately after meeting Amy for the first time I felt welcome and at ease. I have terrible anxiety issues and have been really embarrassed about the state of my brows for a long time, but Amy was incredibly nice and I felt very comfortable a few minutes into my session. The actual studio itself is very cute and clean, extremely organized and you can tell that a lot of thought and time was put into the layout and decoration. There is a comfy couch in the waiting area and you can help yourself to gum or whatever goodies are laying out on the table at the time. It is obvious that Amy goes the extra mile for her clients and it is very much appreciated. I honestly thought that my eyebrows were too far gone (very sparse and uneven, short), but Amy has transformed them into something I had never thought possible. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows exactly what she's doing. In 9 months time they have grown into brows I have only dreamed of. Amy has definitely given me my confidence back and I appreciate it so much. If you are thinking about going here, do yourself a favor and just do it. I promise you, you WILL NOT regret it. I went to skin firm for my first go at sugaring. I had been used to getting Brazilian waxes, which worked great, but hurt like hell. First and foremost, I had to change my original appointment twice, they were super kind and über lax about it... that's 5 stars alone. I arrive on my appointment day, there's plenty of parking and the studio is clean and beautifully decorated. A+ Cue, first extended bikini and under arm sugaring, compliments of Georgia. Georgia was so rad. She knew her stuff and was extremely professional, all the while seeming like a really chill friend I've had for years. She talked me through the process (which was barely painful, really clean and pretty quick), she made sure she tweezed all the stragglers and gave me some grape seed oil to sooth the redness.
