This place is the number one stop for prescription glasses & sunglasses! They recently moved to the Catinaz plaza which is a well decorated area. The inside of the store is elegant and well organized. The staff is dressed in a professional manner and their customer service is always amazing. They are very polite and even offer recommendations. They greet you with a warm welcome and readily assists you whenever you are ready. The optometrist is also nice and friendly unlike other optometries that I have been too. She was nice enough to give me a sample for my dry eyes. I also remember addressing a problem with my glasses ( they were crooked because I have a habit of taking off my glasses with just one hand so they became lopsided) and one of the staff members immediately took my glasses back and fixed it. This has been my optometrist of choice for many years now. The service provided here is unlike any optometrist office I've ever been to and that's why I will never go somewhere else. Dr. Tong is especially skilled and always makes sure to take care of me and my family when we come for our annual checkups. I know it's awful for me to say this but when you want good customer service one hardly thinks it will be provided by an Asian business but today I had to eat my own words. I ordered a pair of sunglasses here after my annual eye exam. When the sunglasses came the nose bridge was crooked. After trying to fix them for me to no avail they told me they would order a new pair and call me when it arrives. Really? I was shocked in delight that they didn't tell me to just piss off. Not only that I received an apology for the inconvenience. That's the type of service I would expect from a high end department store not a mom n pop shop so I'm happy to say I'll be a client for life. I have been going to many different optometry locations for years but this location is by far my favorite. I have needed glasses for about 10 years of my life, so I have experienced many different optometry places, but could never find a place I loved until now. Everyone that works here is very friendly and professional. The workers here are also very helpful and can answer any questions you have. They have a large variety of glasses frames to pick from and even sunglasses too. I always have a hard time picking what frame I want because there are so many good options! I've been wanting to switch from glasses to contact lenses and they gave me many options and brands to choose from. They also helped me choose what was best and most suitable for me. I came with my boyfriend to his optometrist appointment because he was soooo excited to get his eyes checked for glasses since its been years since he's gone to the eye doctor lol... Such a dork!! We had an appointment at 4:15pm on a Saturday and there were other patients when we arrived but we were tended to right as we came in. Jenni H had my boyfriend fill out his paperwork and he went in to see the optometrist right away. Once his vision was checked, Jenni H was so patient going through all of the glass cabinets to hand pick different frames for my boyfriend to try on. She gave suggestions and made comments on which frames she liked or didn't like as much on my boyfriend, per our request of asking her "what do you think?" Lol once my boyfriend picked out a frame, she went and ordered the specific color he wanted. I had my first experience with this optometry office on 12/31/2015. I wanted to get new glasses and to get an updated prescriptions for contacts. I was astonished with how clean, beautiful, and upscale the office look, and was greeted by Nyvia and Jenni. Jenni took my insurance and patient information form and proceeded to take me to the first part of the exam. She did a wonderful job explaining to me what she was doing and she was really patient and upbeat when I struggled with getting air blown into my eyes. After that, I was taken into a room to finish up the rest of my eye exam. Dr. Tong was very professional, detailed, and patient. She really took the time to examine me and explain to me my results and all the questions I had (and I'm known to ask A LOT of questions). One detail in my eye exam results wasn't good but she did a great job at making sure I didn't freak out by being calm and poised. Another thing I loved about her was the fact she took detailed notes. Before coming in, I read all her Yelp reviews and I loved that she was able to address all the negative reviews with great detail! I had a frame and style in mind but the shopaholic in me is always opened to trying other frames. Jenni took the time to ask me what styles I liked and she has an eye for understanding which one looks best on me. I loved that she pulled out so many frames for me to test out and was very patient with me when I wanted to try more, even when she was super busy helping other patients. When Jenni was with other patients, I was able to ask Michelle for advice and she was so sweet to talk to. I also love that they are able to order frames that aren't in store. They had the style I wanted, but not in the size I wanted but they could order them for me. Therefore, if you are already set on a specific brand and frame, bring in the style code and they would be able to order them for you! Once I picked out a frame, I had to pick out the lens type and coatings. Jenni did a great job explaining each and every option. I ended up going with what she recommended because I trusted her professional expertise. She also took care of the billing, which surprised me cause I ended up paying a lot less than expected! :D Overall, I really wanted to take the time to thank Dr. Tong, Jenni, Nyvia, and Michelle for making my visit very pleasant. The entire process was so seamless and easy, and you could tell they really cared as they weren't rushing you or trying to sell you/rip you off. Let me just say, I went in to adjust my frames that I purchased from there about a couple years ago. I've been meaning to get new frames but never found anything that suited me well. One of the employees Michelle by far the sweetest optician ever, not only adjusted my old frames. But she took the time to pull out some frames to try on for fun. She even looked up certain frame styles and see what colors were available while also attending to other customers. After going through all the frames, I fell absolutely in love with a pair of salt glasses. She educated me all the type of lenses and warranty. Done deal I ended purchasing them right then and there. Omg! I just picked up today, LOVE them and am so happy with my purchase. Michelle went through the whole nine yards and provided such great customer service! Go see her! I was recommended to go here by a friend because they offer cheap exams. The service provided by the receptionist and assistants were great. They were very friendly and helpful. I don't know what the rave is about exactly regarding Dr. Tong herself. I came in for an exam for glasses and contacts. I felt like since I didn't have enough knowledge on glasses and contacts considering I've never worn them before, she wasn't too informative. She wasn't mean, but she was a bit stand offish and had a very dry persona. She does answer your questions, but I felt like it was very short and brief minimum responses. When I first had my exam she asked me what kind of contacts I wanted and I told her I wanted colored contacts. She recommended Acuvue Oasys, but later to find out it only came in clear after she had already prescribed it. I came into her office today to ask her about it, instead of talking to me directly she talks to her assistant which is standing literally next to me..."SHE NEEDS TO MAKE A NEW APPT. FOR A NEW FITTING! I DON'T HAVE TIME TO SEE HER TODAY!" [All diva like] They wanted me to basically pay another exam fee for contacts because she didn't listen to me the first time and instead of talking to me since she's right in front of me she acted as if I wasn't there. She could've saved me a trip and told me over the phone when I called prior to coming in, but told me they'd call me back, but didn't after three hours so I just came in since I had to get lenses for my glasses anyways. Overall, prices are reasonable for exams and lenses. I would go here again only if I need a simple prescription for a new pair of glasses, but you could probably find a comparable price in another part of Bolsa. I wouldn't come back for contacts just because I felt like she was more about making that money more so than making sure her patients walk out of her place feeling confident and comfortable with all the knowledge they could've obtained. An acquaintance of mine was a patient of Dr. Tong for a few years so I decided to stop by this place for an eye exam. It wasn't too busy (weekday) but I can imagine how the plaza can be overwhelming on weekends. I did a few errands around the neighborhood before coming here (with an appointment of course), but had to wait a long time. I believe there was only one other person waiting before me, but it was at least 45 minutes (I was pissed I had to wait so long). I was about to get up and leave but decided to stay cos I had read great reviews about Dr. Tong. First off the exam was fine, the Dr. was great at explaining everything. The only thing that put me off about the doctor was the fact that she asked me too many personal questions. I know doctors want to get to know you better and all, but I could do without all the "nice-fake" convo. Just give me a comprehensive eye exam and let me go. The customer service was horrible as well. I didn't even get any help for most of the time while I was browsing the selections. No one came over to open the brand named glass cases even when I had asked the girl behind the counter to. It was locked so I had to wait for it to be opened by one of the employees. The receptionist was on the phone, but when she got off the phone she just went in the back room and never came back to the front for another 15 minutes. Did she just go on her break and leave customers in the front by themselves? IDGI. In the end I decided to just go with the old Chanel frames that I still had. I didn't want to bother spending any more money at a place that didn't service their customers with decency and respect at all. I really wished I skipped on the place because I have experienced much better service at other optometrists. Dr. Tong and her staff are very professional and personable. There are a wide selection of designer glasses and they even carry Dita which is harder to find. The office is clean, modern and very well organized. Dr. Tong has a good bedside manner with her patients. She thoroughly explains the process while checking your eyes and is very patient with you. After your exam, Dr. Tong goes over your needs in detail and answers all questions you have. Two younger gentlemen helped me during my exam and follow up to pick up my glasses. Dominic performed my initial pre-exam and managed not to laugh as I braced myself for the puffs of air into my eye. I will never get used to that! He and the other gentleman (I don't recall his name, he also wears glasses) helped me decide on my frames. The staff is not pushy and never try to up-sell you on any products. I chose a pair of Prada wood/metal frames and couldn't decide on a color so they offered to order the colors I wanted so that I can try them on in store. I paid for them in full and waited about a week to try on my options. It took less than a week for my prescription to be filled. I'm very happy with my new specs! The staff here are very knowledgable, and Dr. Tong is very open and willing to answer any and all the questions I had concerning my eyes. Came in not too long ago in search of a new optometrist and I think I found the perfect place. The receptionists immediately greeted me with a smile as soon as I walked in. Dr. Tong was thorough and transparent with her exam so I knew what was going on the whole time. Kelly was one of the receptionist who helped me choose which type of lens to buy as well as a description of each option so I was aware of what type of lens I was getting. I came another day to pick up my glasses and they needed adjustments so Michelle assisted me by fixing my frames. I called multiple optometrists in Irvine and I received quotes of $150+ because I have astigmatism. My girlfriend suggested going to a cheaper place in Westminster, which always makes me skeptical because great prices usually means bad quality and service. But, as usual, I used Yelp and relied on other people's comments to find the right optometrist. The staff is very friendly. The doctor answered all my questions along with my girlfriend's questions. I admit, I was a problematic patient because I was very nit picky about my eyes. I had 3 separate appointments with the doctor because I wanted to make sure my new prescriptions would be optimal without causing issues. She was very patient the entire time and didn't mind taking the extra time to help.
