2nd time at this location and both times had good experience with the optometrist, Wendy Tam. She is patient, very clear with her explanations and instructions. She even helped me take out a torn contact lens that was stuck in my eye. Most of the staff there seem very friendly too. I've gone on a late afternoon where I had to wait quite a while, but going on a weekday morning was much quicker. This particular LensCraters located in HB. Huge and nice place. My son got his glasses here a month ago. Didn't fit right later he found out. The glass was keep falling when he looked down. This little thing you really didn't want to go back and wait the whole thing. He is especially didn't like it. Anyway we forced him to go back and set the glasses right way. I walked into your store and asked if my glasses could be repaired. Without even looking at them, I was told no because they would need to be soldered. Instead, I was handed someone else's business card for repairs. While some might consider this acceptable service, as someone who works in healthcare, I found it disappointing. Here's why: The least that could have been done was to examine the glasses, show genuine interest, and offer potential solutions--like new frames if repair wasn't possible. If new frames required an appointment, they could have scheduled me with an optometrist, which would have met my immediate needs and established me as a new client. That would have saved time and provided a positive experience. Instead, I was left with no actionable solution. This is a busy time of year, and nobody wants to drive around searching for another store. With four employees standing there, surely someone could have gone the extra mile to assist. How far are you willing to go to help your customers, LensCrafters? Because in this case, it felt like you stopped at the door. Here's a thought: customer care starts with ACTION! (Please do not attempt to apologize to this review because you wasted my time and I am now taping my glasses to go to work! The damage is permanent! You know--I have been shopping at Lenscrafters (different stores) for over 20 years and stopped getting glasses here 10 years ago because it just got too expensive and too much Drama--I went to Costco and found a small private store in Santa Monica that everyone uses. But I still stop in to one or more Lenscrafters to see if they have anything new in frames that fit my face whenever I get a new Rx. Last month I went here and another Lenscrafters to check out frames. I will first tell you that Lenscrafter stores have different frames--some are the same, but many are different--so if you like Lenscrafters go to a few stores and compare. I could not find any frame that wowed me--it was kind of the same stuff they had 10 years ago. I did find a new style Ray Ban sun glass under $125 I may go back for? Lenscrafter's parent company owns Ray Ban and some other designer brands they sell in the store. As far as lens cost--it's expensive at Lenscrafters. I would put their pricing mid-way between Costco at the lower end and some other private shops owned by Optometrists at the higher end. Most of their stores have labs to make the glasses in the store same day. The quality is dependant on the lab tech in that day and the experience of the person who measures your pupils especially if you are getting progressives. Key thing with glasses is the frame--if you find a frame that immediately fits you well without any adjustment--then that is the frame for you no matter who sells it. I personally try to avoid frames made in China. China is fine for a plastic comb, but not something important like eye glasses. Stick to USA, Italy, Demark, and Japan for eyeglasses. The thing that drives me crazy with Lenscrafters is the choice of lenses. I just wish they just sold 3 lenses like Costco that have everything on it--because everyone need UV, anti-reflect, anti-stratch, thin as possible. Everyone. So, wish they just had a price sign when you came in that made it simple: 3 Lenses: 1. Single Vision: $100 2. Progressive Vision: $200 3. Add Transition to each: $100. Then when I shop for frames I can add the number and know where I stand. And if they want to offer a discount: $ 30% off lenses if you pay full price for frame. Then I can easily calculate. Instead they have all kinds of choices like ordering a car at the dealer--I can never understand what it cost and what I am paying so I walk out. You can go into Lenscrafters 3 times with the same Rx and get get three different prices. It's annoying. Lexotica the owner of the chain should seriously consider redoing the whole operation. Get the commission sales people out of the store--turn it into an upscale Costco type operation with higher quality lenses. Set standard published prices for Lenses and keep the frames prices reasonable. That's what I would do. They are thinking about it I know--but change is hard. From a customer standpoint in an advanced tech world we are in--these stores are just not what you want them to be. The other thing to keep in mind is if you have someone trying to adjust the fit of the glasses that can't get it right they never will-it's an inate skill only certain Opticians have. What you are going to need to do is excuse youself and come back another day and hope someone else is there with the skill otherwise you never have them fit right. In the past, I have been to Lenscrafters with Opticians that can spend 30 minutes with you and never get it adjusted right and then someone else another day that gets it in 5 minutes. read more

This was the 5th time I've been to this Lens Crafters and everytime I have bought something they have asked me to get there insurance. So I bought the insurance for first 2 times guess what nothing ever happened to my glasses. So the past 3 years I have not been buying insurance because times are tough. Every single time for the past 3 years I had the lenses popping off probably because when they fitted me they bent the frames. So in time they would pop off and you would lose them so you would have to buy some replacement lenses. Long story short, I question the integrity of the employees at this place because as I was there they had another customer that had her lens pop off but she found hers. I spent 700 dollars for Ray Bans I only WORE FOR A DAY, they wanted to seem cool and and say once I left the store I could not get the insurance. But in this case they gave me the option to buy it for 70 dollars that I told them they could shove it up the you know where. What I was expecting from a place like Lens Crafters that sells high end products was "I am very sorry this happened to you and we will take care of this for you". I am not shocked by the non service these establishments have these days but I will never go back to any of these places ever again. read more

I bought some Oakley sun glasses at lens crafters 1 year ago for $240 . Today I went in looking for some replacement lenses. When I asked about price for new polarized lenses she gave me a quote of $485 . I immediately thought there was a mistake since my sun glasses are not prescription and just regular sunglasses. My sun glasses were only $240 new with lenses that pop out for easy replacement lenses. When I told her my glasses were only $240 dollars why would I buy $485 lenses for it. She stated " it's best to buy new ones instead" . Nice sales tactic but I took my business somewhere else. I was able to buy new quality lenses for $65.00 online . I was easily able to make a same-day appointment for an eye exam at this lens crafter. However, they are located in a shopping center. That is very very busy and parking is nearly impossible. I arrive to my appointment a few minutes late because of parking, filled out the paperwork and took a seat to wait for my turn for an exam Only then was I informed that because I was late I would have to reschedule. I'm leaving a second review for Dr Tam and Brittany. My boyfriend and I have been seeing Dr Tam now for several years since the other doctor left the facility. I could not be happier having Dr Tam as my optometrist. As others have mentioned, she gives each patient the best treatment and devotes the needed time to do a thorough exam. She is extremely knowledgeable and has also worked helping my mom see the best she can with a limited Vision right eye. I have also come in with concerns having acute blurring in one eye that she treated successfully. I also want to mention Brittany who is the manager at this lenscrafter. She is more than helpful and great to work with. She helped me locate a style of glasses I was looking for, she conducted the fitting perfectly and ordered my glasses and contacts. I made an appointment, I do have insurance. I also have an opthalmologist because I have glaucoma. I only wanted an exam for glasses. They insisted I pay $39 for a full exam. I said no, because I already see an opthalmologist. My insurance offers the free exam for the glasses, but this doctor, insisted on checking for glaucoma, etc. Needless to say, I left. I am going to Target on Friday where they will just check for eye glasses prescription. This is a concern and scam to gain additional money. WHY would I let someone who works at Lens Crafters mess with my eyes when I have a medical doctor, opthalmologist. Never read more

Came here for the 2nd time and both times I was disappointed. 2nd time for sure is my bad. The service the staff provides is very mixed. The Dr that exam my eyes was nice and was very professional. The rest of the experience was not pleasant. The lack of customer service is not only experienced first hand but very apparent with other customers being "helped" in the store. I am sad to say that a basic eye exam took me easily 1.5 hours to complete since they could not verify my insurance. They were very quick to say that it is very common to not find the insurance. Yet it was something not mentioned when I booked the appointment and they took all my info including who my insurance provider is. Once the machines were finally working, one employee interrupted the exam to say I didn't have insurance, which I do. Two employees were trying to check my insurance by running "variations" of my last name and were arguing with me on the spelling of my last name. I want to thank Manny for being such a helpful associate at this Lens Crafters. My fiancé had his glasses stolen, so we had gone in to get a new pair before our wedding. The first time we went in, the guy helping us kept doing his math incorrectly and was quoting us wrong prices. He then offered a $50 off code for our troubles, but then they didn't have any more codes left. He told us to come back the next day for a code. It was a bit annoying to have to drive back to Huntington Beach, but we did anyways. Manny ended up being to help us out and assure us that his glasses would be with us in ti for the wedding. BEWARE THIS PLACE. I made an appointment to have an eye exam. My insurance covers the exam 100%. LensCrafters failed to mention they have a MANDATORY retinal scan which is not covered by insurance. I've never heard of anything like that. Maybe if they provided glasses at a reasonable price, they wouldn't have to stoop to these kind of tactics to generate more revenue. I refused it and they would not perform my regular exam. WHAT A FRAUD! I made arrangements to my schedule to be there, I was on time, and now I have to find someplace else. What a joke this place is. My father, a retired senior, scheduled an eye examination to get new reading glasses at Bella Tera LensCrafters. I took him and got him checked in including providing my father's insurance card. He was not seen until a half an hour after initial appointment time and 15 minutes into the examination we were told they REFUSE to provide an eye examination covered by his insurance UNLESS he accepted a $59 comprehensive examination. LensCrafters refused to do the basic examination service covered 100% by insurance and requires this comprehensive examination to provide the best care as we were told. Generally most Oppotometrist in my experience provides this 'comprehensive' test as an OPTION however LensCrafters refused us service. My father is on a fixed income and he didn't want to pay for this 'COMPREHENSIVE" examination and we left without my father taking his eye examination. We were NOT told any of this prior to the examination as we waited there for half an hour. A complete waste of an time and a disappointing experience. read more
