I really enjoyed the meal I bought from Mu tonight! To be honest I was a little skeptical at first because I thought the prices were kind of high for takeout food (after tax and tip I spent $30). Nevertheless when I got the food back to my office downtown I was pleasantly surprised at the quality: let me tell you what I ordered... I had Bo Luc Lac (tri tip beef with salad and rice) and Tom Ka Soup (lemon grass and coconut milk soup served with either chicken or tofu) everything was delicious! The beef was tender, juicy and flavorful. It was served with sautéed vegetables and a slightly sweet and tangy dipping sauce. It was accompanied by a salad made with mixed greens carrots cucumber and a delicate vinaigrette that paired very nicely with the beef. While the entree was not huge by any means it was very filling (though I'm not known to have a huge appetite these days). I thought I was hungry so I ordered a side of the soup which is not normally included with the entree. I found it to be a steal of a deal since it only cost an extra $2 to add on. Which I must say, the soup was Der-Licious! Seriously though there is only one other place where I enjoy the Tom KA soup as much as I did here... all the other Thai places that I visit around here pale in comparison when it comes to the Tom Ka soup... At this point you might be asking, "why did you rate Mu five stars if you felt like the meal was too expensive?" Let me tell you why. This place is a fine dining, classy, fusion-Thai restaurant. It is not traditionally the type of place that you're going to go just to order takeout from. Part of the price has to do with the ambience, the service, the quality of the food, the location, etc. Because of the coronavirus they have been reduced to outdoor patio dining and take out service. Once I arrived and remembered the beauty of the locale and the elegance of the restaurant then the price made more sense. Here's a free tip if plates that cost between $15-$25 each give you heartburn try this place out during lunchtime. Their lunch menu is half that price and yet I suspect the food will be just as good. read more

Since I had such a good experience ordering take out with them, we decided to dine-in hoping to be just as impressed. Oh I was so wrong! Maybe they changed management or something but the pad woon sen was not as good. They skimped out on the noodles and did not ask if we wanted it spicy. My biggest concern was the fact that I ordered a lunch kapow and the only other thing I said was that I wanted it at the spiciest level. Kapow came out and to be honest, it was pretty good especially with the egg on top. When the bill came around, I was charged an extra $2 for chicken and an extra $3 for "Thai Style!". First of all, the food was incredible. Service was above average, except. One of our entrees came out after everyone else had finished eating. We could live with that, understanding that the kitchen is busy on a Friday night. Where things went really downhill was the WAY TOO LOUD live music. The performers were very talented; however the sound was so incredibly loud that our table could not communicate with each other or the server. My decibel meter registered 130 at one point...routinely over 100 though. This would be perfectly fine at a bar but completely unacceptable for a dinner restaurant with a small dining room. Ordered delivery from here. Got the yellow curry, pineapple fried rice, and chicken pad thai. The yellow curry was a favorite as it was well spiced and rich. You also can't go wrong with the pad thai. However the meat in the pad thais and fried rice were dry and a bit tough to chew. The service was very personable. They work as a team. Someone was always asking if we were being taken care of. They were not over bearing. Mu has always been a Redlands OG classic. I even came here wayyyyy back in the day when it was "Rama Garden" say whattttt?!!!! If you don't know now you know. First things first. There is no other Thai restaurant who makes their Tom Kai soup like Mu. Idk what it is, but the flavor is always consistent and on point. My favorite all time is the pad see yu and the orange chicken. The orange chicken is always crispy and fresh! I highly recommend going during lunch time as they have really good specials. Comes with soup or salad and your choice of an item! Steal! Ambience is pretty chic/semi fancy. It's got that cool "LA" kind of vibe. The inside area is usually dark and very dimly lit. The outside porch is nice too with lots of greenery. Out on a date? You can walk across and visit their little bar area for a great cocktail! read more

After a very long respite, I returned here with a friend for lunch, and was pleased with what I encountered. A large cup of Tom Ka Soup was brownish in color but tasted the same as the more orange variety speckled with red Cajun-like spices. And an included salad with a lunch entree was cool and crisp, topped by a creamy dressing. Stubby Spring Rolls augmented with shrimp in rice paper were cool and refreshing, rendered more tasty with provided Peanut Sauce ladled over them. And, my entree of Pepper Steak accompanied by Steamed White Rice was colorful and delicious, with both Red Peppers and Green Peppers, White Onions and Green Onions, and slices of lean beef. Portions were generous, and service excellent, with servers anticipating the need for water and Iced Tea refills without the necessity of an uttered request. I didn't get the steak this time. Instead, I ordered the sea bass and it was delicious! It's not a Thai dish, but it's heavily influenced by Thai flavors. I love the clam soup. Again, that's not a Thai dish, but it's really good. Even their dessert is a variation of Thai cuisine. So if you're looking for an authentic Thai food, this may not be your top option, but this restaurant has Thai-inspired cuisine with a nice bar. The food is excellent. One of my favorite places to eat in Redlands, the owners and staff are great the adjacent bar is awesome I feel like I'm at a resort when I dine here. They have happy hour specials on drinks and noodle dishes for $5 & $6, it's a great place for a date or a date night with your husband or wife. If you go on Thursday it might be hard to find parking due to thur night farmers market so I suggest another night unless you luck out with a parking spot in the back lot of the restaurant. I got the chance to try Mu recently, I've heard of it featured in a couple of restaurant magazines. I would consider Mu more of a gourmet thai place in a real nice setting on a side street off of one of the main streets in Redlands. I liked seeing the pictures of the patio dining area which is quite nice to visit at night. We came almost at closing time Sunday as the restaurant was emptying out. There is a court yard area where you can eat outside which is very nice, lounge area and main dinning room. We decided to eat in the main dining area though next time I will try the patio. For the 1st visit kept it simple and just got pad thai. I liked the pad thai and fresh vegetables that came inside it. Tasting it I could tell they use great ingredients. For me the star of the show was the mango sticky rice. It comes with blue berries and strawberries in addition to the mango. The fruit was fresh and was a great pairing with the rice. As an added touch there was purple rice that had a little more flavor than the white rice. The dessert looks amazing and I was glad I got to try it. As we finished our desert we were the last party to leave, everyone of the staff was so nice to greet us good bye. I think this is a great thai food to go to for a date night or special outing and I look forward to coming back. read more

I love their coconut soup and the fresh shrimp spring rolls. Very flavorful. Their drinks are also amazing. I had a blended blue drink with coconut and I loved it. Service was prompt as well, and they were very kind to us even though we showed up close to when they were to close for the evening. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice. I used to LOVE Mu until this most recent time we went WITH birthday reservations for my mom and we were ignored. We stood at the restaurant entrance inside waiting to be attended to and servers/waiters and staff kept passing by us and even told us we were in their way. They told us to go stand across at the bar. So there we went to stand at the bar entrance waiting. Same thing happened. I was so patient because my mom loves Mu and we missed this place and couldn't wait to come back. But again, we were told to scoot over and move out of their way. Although I told them we made birthday reservations in advance, they didn't care. We were so fed up that we left and I'm never giving this place a chance, despite the positive memories I previously had. AWFUL service. Disrespectful and inconsiderate. What a shame. read more

Best Thai in Redlands. My partner and I go here all of the time. I have been going with my family for over 7 years. The quality has stayed consistent even after COVID when many locations lost that. The owner is so kind and always remembers who you are. My mom is handicapped and has cancer and always makes sure to ask about her and how she is. We came finally after two years in the area and wow this place is up scale Thai. Knowing how fantastic there food tasted. We walked in on Friday at 5:30 and they asked if we have reservations we said no and the girl stated they were booked! ok we will try elsewhere then the girl said she will check to wait a moment. A older lady came by and ask to follow her to the table. Thank you. The server was super helpful and explained the specials: Salmon, Sea Bass, or Halibut. I had the Halibut! Oh gee wiz the fish was cooked perfectly. My wife's steak was also very good. Our lettuce cups were a great treat very tasty. My coconut milk curry with tofu soup was real good and not spicy. Tonight was our first time dining here. They were really busy, but the wait wasn't long. The service was excellent, and the food was top notch. When you see the owner busing tables, that says a lot (good leadership, cares about her business). It was clean, and loud with lots of happy tables. We'll definitely come back. One final note. I ordered the Kapow Chicken and asked for extra spicy, and the kitchen nailed it. Usually I have to ask for more spice, but this was just right, enough to put sweat on my brow. I've been coming here forever since it was called something else to what it is today. I had dinner w my mother and we had a pleasant evening. We came closer to opening so there wasn't any people or a line. We got seated right away and had a wonderful male server who was super attentive! We shared spring rolls (w shrimp) which was a great starter for 2 people. We also had the pad Thai w shrimp. I'm not used to such thin noodles for pad Thai but it was still good. The sauce was also pretty sweet, but that was remedied w hot sauce. We also got green curry and that was nice and thick. Some Thai places give you only curry sauce with very little veggies or meat. We got a lot of "stuff" w our curry, so that was nice! My only wish is that they had more stand-alone veggie dishes like an eggplant dish or something. There's plenty of meat dishes tho that you can substitute w tofu, but sometimes you just want veggies (rather than tofu/protein). Lol. Other than that, a good meal! read more

Redlands is an amazing town. It is very self sufficient accept for an airport. However, it has some wonderful restaurants, amazing diverse community of people, a great market night, awesome parks and hiking trails, good tech firms, eco friendly environment, and most of all a very cool friendly atmosphere. Mu is one of a kind Thai Restaurant. A very upscale thai place with great ambiance and really good food. Their drinks are very nice as well. Now you guys are all wondering why I gave them 3 stars. So when I grade a restaurant I see the customer service, cleanliness, restroom hygeine, price, portion size, and most of all FOOD!. This place gets A grade in pretty much everything and even food. However, I have my own opinion when it comes to certain cuisines, especially South Asian Cuisine like Thai. In case of Mu their food is pretty blend for being a Thai Restaurant. I even mentioned to the server that I want my Halibut spicy. He asked me from 1 to 10 how much and I mentioned 7. But, when I got the dish, it was very blend. And please don't take me wrong, may be people like that taste, may be the food is catered towards a certain crowd or a certain market. But for me I like my Thai Food very tasteful with proper spicyness and it has to have the tangy, spicy, sweet and a little bitter thai umami flavour. But regardless, I would certainly come back to this place and will recommend this place to others. I really enjoyed this restaurant. It's a nice dining room and the bar/lounge is across from the restaurant. It was our first time here so we sampled the egg rolls App, shrimp with snow peas, green curry w/pork and PadThai w/chicken. It was all delicious and tasted very authentic. The green curry was my favorite and is made with coconut milk; perfect spicy goodness with a creamy finish! The service was great and we had up to 3 staff attending to us making sure everything was good. They were all great folks with good senses of humor and made you feel welcome! Food heat level: Just FYI some of the food is indicated to be spicy on the menu with a 1-4 red star rating. The green curry was rated 4 stars but was not that spicy...I ended up adding chili sauce to it from their "spice" tray. Buy itself it was probably 5/10 on heat level. When I first came to Redlands I was desperately in search for good Thai, it's always difficult finding one in a new city after going to the same one for a decade. UNTIL we came to MU and had some of the best thai in the area. Their pad see ew is some of the best we've ever had, other amazing dishes we've had are the pad kee mao (drunken noodles), seared ahi and Tom yum. Whether you order to go or dine in the quality is amazing. It is on the pricey side of Thai food but the quality reflects it.
