When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, so we were able to sit anywhere. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Beef, and the food did take some time to come out--which usually signals that it's made fresh, and that part was appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall experience was mixed due to the atmosphere. The kids sitting at the table next to us appeared to be the owner's children, and they were very loud and running around the dining area. There didn't seem to be much effort to keep things under control, and it made the environment feel unprofessional. At times, it honestly felt more like being at Chuck E. Cheese than a sit-down restaurant, which took away from enjoying the meal. The service itself was okay, nothing terrible, but the lack of attention to the disruptive noise was disappointing. Final Thoughts: The food was decent and seemed freshly prepared, but the noisy environment--especially with the owner's kids running around--really impacted our visit. First time ordering from this place and they are very good! Totally Recommend this place. But i dont know why its MSG free when MSG is 100% safe to eat. Its 100% natural. This stigma started when a journalist went to china and got the runs. He blamed MSG which is ridiculous because MSG has been proven time and time again to be 100% safe. Ive used it mu whole life and im incredibly healthy at 46 yo. Its good because it contains 60% less sodium than table salt. Hence the name "mono sodium glutamate". read more

I order chicken lo mein and the ordering website says it comes with mixed vegetables. I expected carrots or something. But all there is are bean sprouts mixed in with the noodles and not that many. I've been coming here for about three years. My to go to is their Lunch specials which range around $10. You pick a soup, a rice, and your main. It comes with an egg roll and small salad. I'm always left feeling satisfied with the quality and amount of food I received. The orange chicken is delicious! There is actual orange rind in the sauce so this has me feeling like there sauces are homemade. I've also gotten the House Kung Pao which is great if you can't decide between beef chicken or shrimp. You get all three. The inside is always clean and roomy. There is adequate space between all the tables. In terms of service, they do a great job being very direct and respectful. There can be a language barrier at times so please be respectful of that. This was no issue for me. If you are in downtown Redlands craving some Chinese food, I highly recommend this spot. read more

Came for lunch today and the restaurant was full. We did however get a nice clean table but we sat for about 15 minutes before we got water and our order taken. There appears to be only one person working the floor. I ordered the lemon chicken which was amazing but the fried rice that came with it had a very rancid taste to it. I'm sure it was the oil they cook in which is unfortunate because the person cooking has the potential to make excellent food. I can't come back because I'm afraid of getting ill. We ordered shrimp broccoli, which comes with white rice, some lo mein, and orange chicken, which comes spicy. We also drank some sweet Thai teas that were tasty. In my opinion, everything tasted very good. I loved how garlicky the shrimp and broccoli were. I like that the lo mein wasn't greasy, and the orange chicken had a good flavor. We also ordered the fried pot stickers, which were delicious. In the beginning, our server seemed a little agitated but warmed up. We did ask for a certain amount of containers, and he counted how many he thought we needed and brought that instead (one less container). Which we were able to squeeze everything in. It's slightly off. I prefer Red Chili's over their version. I'm a little biased. I miss the woodsy ear mushrooms. However, do prefer how they thinly slice their tofu. We had the lunch special. The Wok In Café is reminiscent of Chinese restaurants that I grew up going to: locally owned, made to order food and plenty of it. Their restaurant is right on State St., Redlands and so the front booths offers plenty of people watching - which is great on Market Night or Halloween later afternoon (how I miss the pre-Pandemic days: on Thursday nights watching the promenade of people visiting among the open air vendor and Halloween afternoons when merchants were handing out candy to trick-or-treaters - big and small). This night we ordered delivery. As you can see the delivery container wasn't sealed (this was before the new State law), but very functional. The individual containers, surprisingly, kept the food warm for quite some time. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was a good carrier for your sauce of choice. I like Ponzu (which I had at home) and my wife likes Soy. The chicken was very tender, and held the sauce flavor well. The vegetables were firm and crunchy. The Orange Chicken was a bit mushy from the delivery process. (It is much better with table service.) The orange sauce was mostly on the bottom of the container (so you will need to stir it up to recoat the chicken). The sauce has an incredible zing to it, which makes this dish. Unlike other restaurants, the breading here isn't too thick. We had leftovers, so we combined them together and saved it for the next day. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was great with the orange sauce, particularly the chicken. read more
