First time ordering from this place and they are very good! Totally Recommend this place. But i dont know why its MSG free when MSG is 100% safe to eat. Its 100% natural. This stigma started when a journalist went to china and got the runs. He blamed MSG which is ridiculous because MSG has been proven time and time again to be 100% safe. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, so we were able to sit anywhere. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken and Beef, and the food did take some time to come out--which usually signals that it's made fresh, and that part was appreciated. Unfortunately, the overall experience was mixed due to the atmosphere. The kids sitting at the table next to us appeared to be the owner's children, and they were very loud and running around the dining area. There didn't seem to be much effort to keep things under control, and it made the environment feel unprofessional. At times, it honestly felt more like being at Chuck E. Cheese than a sit-down restaurant, which took away from enjoying the meal. The service itself was okay, nothing terrible, but the lack of attention to the disruptive noise was disappointing. Final Thoughts: The food was decent and seemed freshly prepared, but the noisy environment--especially with the owner's kids running around--really impacted our visit. I order chicken lo mein and the ordering website says it comes with mixed vegetables. I expected carrots or something. But all there is are bean sprouts mixed in with the noodles and not that many. Maybe they ran out of vegetables because I visited a hour within closing time. The dish was sweet which I was not expecting but maybe that's just how it is for lo mein. I've been coming here for about three years. My to go to is their Lunch specials which range around $10. You pick a soup, a rice, and your main. It comes with an egg roll and small salad. I'm always left feeling satisfied with the quality and amount of food I received. The orange chicken is delicious! There is actual orange rind in the sauce so this has me feeling like there sauces are homemade. I've also gotten the House Kung Pao which is great if you can't decide between beef chicken or shrimp. You get all three. The inside is always clean and roomy. There is adequate space between all the tables. In terms of service, they do a great job being very direct and respectful. There can be a language barrier at times so please be respectful of that. This was no issue for me. If you are in downtown Redlands craving some Chinese food, I highly recommend this spot. read more

Came for lunch today and the restaurant was full. We did however get a nice clean table but we sat for about 15 minutes before we got water and our order taken. There appears to be only one person working the floor. I ordered the lemon chicken which was amazing but the fried rice that came with it had a very rancid taste to it. I'm sure it was the oil they cook in which is unfortunate because the person cooking has the potential to make excellent food. I can't come back because I'm afraid of getting ill. We ordered shrimp broccoli, which comes with white rice, some lo mein, and orange chicken, which comes spicy. We also drank some sweet Thai teas that were tasty. The kids were be taught to take a drink to a table, pick up a check needing to be paid and sometimes bad mouthing mom which is the server. The last time we visited 2 weeks ago the waitress was sitting behind our table and we were the only ones there. The waitress/ wife was on her phone never asked us for refills, if we needed anything it was so uncomfortable!!!! SERVICE WAS SO BAD!!!! WE WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN! The Wok In Café is reminiscent of Chinese restaurants that I grew up going to: locally owned, made to order food and plenty of it. Their restaurant is right on State St., Redlands and so the front booths offers plenty of people watching - which is great on Market Night or Halloween later afternoon (how I miss the pre-Pandemic days: on Thursday nights watching the promenade of people visiting among the open air vendor and Halloween afternoons when merchants were handing out candy to trick-or-treaters - big and small). This night we ordered delivery. As you can see the delivery container wasn't sealed (this was before the new State law), but very functional. The individual containers, surprisingly, kept the food warm for quite some time. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was a good carrier for your sauce of choice. I like Ponzu (which I had at home) and my wife likes Soy. The chicken was very tender, and held the sauce flavor well. The vegetables were firm and crunchy. The Orange Chicken was a bit mushy from the delivery process. (It is much better with table service.) The orange sauce was mostly on the bottom of the container (so you will need to stir it up to recoat the chicken). The sauce has an incredible zing to it, which makes this dish. Unlike other restaurants, the breading here isn't too thick. We had leftovers, so we combined them together and saved it for the next day. The Moo Goo Gai Pan was great with the orange sauce, particularly the chicken. read more

The food was alright not that great seasoning. Me and my friends went in and there was hair in the food of my friend. My friend asked for them to take it back or at least discount. The lady working then proceeded to argue with us and said we use hair nets or that probably is your hair when clearly we knew it was not. She tried to argue and then proceeded to head to the kitchen where there was yelling. Then barely gave us a discount of 20% on the noodles we ordered. Also I had asked to replace a tea as I did not like it and the same lady refused to change the tea. It would be a quick fix but she refused. We definitely beat the dinner rush on the day we visited! The menu is expansive, they have just about everything and veggie options too! The servings are such a good size, not too much and not too little. Perfect for my husband and I to share!
