Definitely a family owned business. I think there was just one server for the restaurant and yet, the service was quick and she was so nice and helpful. The interior is really nice with super cool wooden carvings on the wall, Thai decor tablecloths under the glass at the tables, a little pond, and low lighting. The food was great! We ordered this food for our work place and the food was mediocre. I ordered the lunch special of Tofu Pad See-Ew and it was very bland. The salad with the dressing was missing flavor as well. The best thing was the Tom Kha soup and Fried Wontons. They were slow on the order as well. We phoned in our order around 11:30am. When we arrived at 12:15pm it's as if they just started cooking the food. It wasn't ready until about 1pm. The ambiance of the place is very mom and popish. They have stacks of boxes in the corner. Growing up with a Thai best friend whose family ran restaurants, I developed a deep love for authentic Thai cuisine early on. So when my mom suggested we try Chanida Thai , I was really excited. We arrived during the lunch rush and had to wait for a table. It was packed, so that was a good sign. While waiting, a regular customer picking up her order assured us the food was absolutely worth it, as she has been coming here for years. Best Thai food since we left Long Beach. Authentic Thai, obvious quality and flavors. The restaurant is cozy and inviting, Uber clean with tasteful decor. Staff was very friendly. I had the Pad Thai lunch that comes with delicious soup, salad, rice, entree and drink for a very reasonably priced lunch. My husband had the cashew chicken lunch which was also really yummy. The best dish was the rams chicken and spinach. This was absolutely delicious. Very nutty and creamy. The ginger pork and chicken masaman were good. I went to pick up my order at around 4pm. It was not busy at all. When I arrived there was no one to greet me. I could hear a full blown argument in the kitchen. I finally said "Hello" and this woman comes out crying, and hands me a bill that wasn't even my order. I said this is not mine. She was crying and said I still have to cook your order, I said " No problem I'm not in a hurry" meanwhile a group of 6 customers comes in and sits down. The woman comes to the table and starts crying and said she's not ok and doesn't think she can cook their food ! One of the customers walks over to the kitchen area and says so you guys are not going to cook for us ? And a man says no ! The customer says so you want us to leave and the man says Yes ! They then walked out the door. I then waited like 15min. and finally got my order. When I left she locked the door behind me during dinner hours. When I got home the food was disgusting !!! Not edible !!! So greasy! The fried rice had curry in it and I love curry but it did not taste good at all. The Pad Thai had baby corn (canned) , carrots, and broccoli in it and tasted like sweet rice noodles . I spent $32. on 2 items that I threw away. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ! Unfortunately all 3 dishes had such mild flavor, it was difficult to actually taste anything other than the ingredients. Rice noodles have no flavor. Eggplant has a very soft flavor, chicken has no flavor, I was making sure to get bites of the scrambled egg in every bite so that there was any flavor at all. We will not be trying this place again. I usually liked coming to this restaurant as Thai chili is a hit or miss with service and food. However, the only server at this restaurant has a bad attitude. She seems overwhelmed as she has to do everything by herself such as hosting, serving, bussing tables and to go orders. Totally understandable. What I did not like is that she is not friendly and what did it for me is that she locks the door to prevent more customers from going inside the restaurant or she has to open the door for someone going out or the customer has to unlock the door. I mean who does this? I wonder if the owner knows this and I understand they may not want to pay another person to help her, but this is only causing them to lose customers. This is our go to Thai restaurant-a family favorite. Great Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Massaman curry, orange chicken, chicken satay, and Tom Kah soup. We get the same thing, generally to go, all the time, mixing it up now and again. They have their to-go orders down very well and service is quick and friendly, but the ambiance in this restaurant is one of my favorites I've been too so is worth eating in. Beautiful wood carvings, quiet, running water, low light. The cashew chicken and tempura vegetables also don't disappoint. The only thing I'd change is the Tom Kah soup used to have a different type of mushroom (pre-COVID). I don't know why, but the mushrooms they use now are not good. I miss the old recipe. Looking forward to exploring all their amazing menu, so far I have been delighted and... amazed. The food, beginning with the appetizer sampler, is beautiful and delicious. The spice is great, meaning you can get authentic, Thai levels of heat if you like as I do. The appetizer sampler included an item called a money bag which we loved for it's remarkable presentation and the delicacy of the meat inside. I am sure the Thai standards like Pad Thai and Pad See-Eww are great but I wanted to have things you might not find in an American Thai restaurant, like Beef Larb... wow! Just wow! You can choose a main off the menu, and it comes with a nice salad, delicious coconut soup, wontons, a beverage, and the main. Everything was cooked fresh and very tasty. Located in an alright shopping center, and seems to have alright parking. We went around 2 pm On a Saturday and they were so busy, we didn't even get noticed right away. It seemed as if only two employees were working, and having looked at where to eat in advance we were willing to wait. The decor is super cute, and authentic. Really love the waterfall as well! It was so quiet yet loud in there that you could hear other tables talking, it's really cramped and close to other parties. I think they finally turned on the music or turned it up, which was nice. The portions of food were really great qualities to share for a family of 4. The food also came out faster than we expected our table was full of food quicker than we knew how to consume! It was awesome, and everything tasted great. I like how the waitress who might be the owner was concerned when I asked to make some dishes vegan. Finally a restaurant that is full of vegan options! I also love that they don't pre make the Thai iced tea with milk, they let you substitute coconut milk!!!! Overall the pricing for 4 with drinks was around 85$ not bad at all for all those appetizers and dishes. Average pricing is around 8-12$ The only few things that bugged me was that we were only asked how our food was when we were about finished, nobody even said good bye to us after we paid, and my parents had to keep getting their attention even for the check or more water etc. It wasn't even getting busy after we sat down customers who were there before us were leaving, and tables were full of dishes.
