I would say the food here is good, not great. We were on our way out of time when dinner time befell us on the 10 near Banning so we got off and started scanning Yelp since we were dangerously close to being hangry and we found Thai Orchid with a 4 star rating. After eating here I confirm 4 stars as an accurate rating for this restaurant. Their Thai Ice Tea is exactly what you would expect and was pretty good. I got the Mussamun Curry ($16.95) which is choice of meat (I got chicken), peanut sauce, curry paste, onion, potato and peanut in coconut milk and it was really good. It also comes with rice which is nice considering some places charge you extra for rice. The portion size was plentiful and I had leftovers. My girlfriend took our waitresses recommendation and went with Thai Orchid Fried Rice ($16.95) which is "their take on fried rice" as the waitress explained. It was stir-fried rice with egg, pea and carrot, topped with chicken, shrimp, cashew nuts with special sauce. She said it was kinda "meh" and not what she really likes with fried rice. She gives it 3 stars. Again, I did like my meal but didn't love it. Girlfriend was a bit disappointed in her choice and didn't have a great meal. I think they do have some really good dishes here but I would read the reviews to see what people are raving about. This spot is one our favorite Thai spots. You're always greeted with a smile and warm welcome when arriving. Usually there isn't a wait just depends on the time you're going. We placed an order over the phone and were quoted 30 minutes. We arrived at about the 25 minute mark and waited about 7-10 minutes after paying. The food was good and had nice flavors. I think I'd come back here again when in the area. There is small dining room with maybe ten tables and parking was easy for us. We tried several items. Green salad: Lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and carrot served with peanut sauce. While the ingredients sound simple, the peanut sauce was the real game changer. It was thick, rich, and super savory, which really elevated the salad. Spicy basil with beef: This stir fried beef dish was very savory and enjoyable. However, the balance between meat and vegetables felt a bit off, with the veggies overwhelming the beef. The sauce itself was flavorful though, but also quite spicy (beware), and we were not asked about our preferred spice level. Yellow curry with tofu: The curry sauce had an unusual consistency that I am not used to. I was hoping for a creamier texture from the coconut cream, and the flavor leaned too sweet for my taste. This one was a no for me. Pad see ew with tofu: Overall, it was decent, but the addition of carrots felt unusual since I am used to this type of dish being served with broccoli only, which is also how it is described on the menu. Flavor wise it was okay, though it was unexpectedly spicy and therefore tasted closer to pad kee mao than pad see ew. Overall, the food was pretty good, but I have had better. Stopped here on our way up to Idylwild and we were famished so my brain was offline a bit. The service was very good and our server was so kind and very attentive to my food allergy which I so appreciated. My BF got the Massaman curry which was very good! I really liked the flavor and it was very rich and delicious. I however did not love my dish and realized I should have ordered something different. They had a dish that was not a standard Thai dish but one they invented with their own special house made fresh called Thai orchid fried rice. I've been coming here since they opened many many moons ago! It is my favorite Thai place. We came in on a Friday night and it was really busy, lots of take out too. The service was fast and friendly. Food came out fast too. We tried the shrimp pineapple curry for the first time and loved it. The depth of flavor in the curry was amazing, the pineapple fresh and tasty, and the shrimp cooked perfectly. We also got a favorite of mine, the Silver Noodles Salad. It comes with ground chicken, shrimp and vegetables in a spicy lime dressing. I love this on a hot day like today! The flavors are fabulous!
