    Rice options
    Paul C.

City Sushi and Grill Restaurant split up their restaurant into two and introduced City Pho. It was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. I do like the fact you can order sushi too and they have a Pho Sushi Combo for a couple bucks extra. The rice options are a bit different, but I didn't try the rice options. I was kinda worried they would use the sushi/Japanese rice as opposed to the broken rice typical Vietnamese restaurants use. Very nice owners and love supporting local Beaumont/Cherry Valley businesses. Try it out guys.

I thought it was pretty good beef pho. Would've liked more meat though. Enjoyed the flavor.

To be honest it's in a part of town that I always forget about, so I'm glad it popped up first when I googled it! We got here for an early dinner around 545pm on a Saturday night. There was one other table occupied, and another came in as we were getting our food. The restaurant was a lot bigger than I expected it to be. It was very clean, and all of the booths, tables, and chairs looked like they were in fairly new condition. The owner greeted us as we walked in, waited a few minutes and took our drink order. Before bringing out our drinks she brought over complimentary miso soup and my little loved it! We ordered 2 rainbow rolls and a lobster roll. I always try my go to rolls when trying our a new place, and if I like it, I'll get more daring with the menu! We had enough time to enjoy our soup and talk a little before our rolls came out. It didn't seem rushed, and we were ready to eat! Everything was delicious! The fish on the rainbow roll was fresh and had great flavor and consistency. We loved them! The lobster roll was so good! The sauce drizzled over had a little kick to it, but it wasn't too much at all. The roll wasn't too big, and had a great amount of topping on it. Again, we loved it! The table next to us ordered the garlic edamame and it smelled absolutely divine! I really regret not ordering it as well! Definitely next time!! The prices were pretty consistent with other sushi restaurants, if not a little cheaper. I honestly couldn't believe at 6pm on a Saturday night that it wasn't more packed. I don't know if it's the area, or what because it certainly isn't the food or service. I really hope this spot does well and stays around for a long time. It is so nice to have a great sushi restaurant 8 minutes from home! I can't wait to come back!

The flavor of the dishes tasted wonderful, many different flavors. My only minor complaint on the food was the sauce and the ginger fillets were not separated which caused the fish fillet after taking it home to be soggy and not crispy. I realize my party should have asked for the sauce and fish to be separated but usually when we order this dish to go the management would separate them. We will have to inform them next time. Service was good. The owner was attentive, patient, and gave me my to go order on time. The place was busy but the vibe when you entered was inviting. I would bring my friends and family back to this place.

Beverly gave inadequate attitude towards me and I am also currently pregnant. She did not want to serve me in the express lane as I had a few items over 15, however there were lines at every stand, under staffed cashiers and I was told it was okay to jump in any line by another employee. Beverly said inappropriate statements to me like " Do you know you're in the express lane" " You didn't seriously think this was 15 items did you?" " you must follow the rules" " you are holding up people" when there were other lines just as long. When I stated do I need to get the manager? Beverly stated no and then finally began ringing my items but gave attitude to me as a customer. This is my local store so I am not okay with this behavior. Other employees have definitely not acted this way at this location. Please contact me back if there may be any questions further. Thank you

We got there just before 9pm and there was one other table occupied. The sushi chef there is not winning any conversation awards, though we knew that from the last few times we've been there. Not a huge deal. Only this time, the waitresses came by once after 5 minutes. We wanted to ask them whether we were going to be served soup and salad like they did in the past. If not, no big deal, but we at least just wanted to ask. The sushi chef was engrossed in the college football game on TV at the other end of the bar. We marked our sheet, got our rolls and em, they appeared quite a bit smaller than we recall, and no, we were not just exceptionally hungry that our eyes were bigger. Last few times, the flavors of the rolls stood out. Not this time unfortunately. When we neared eating the end of our order, we wanted to order 1 more. However, no one came by to ask if we wanted more, how we were doing, etc. And the chef feverishly worked at putting the remaining fish in the display case back in the fridge. Sooo, we left a little hungry and went home to have tea. Oh, and when the waitress finally did come around, we asked her about the soup and salad that had before come complimentary. They don't do that anymore, she said.
