I've always said that Big Bear needs a pho restaurant so I'm glad to see my wishes came true! This restaurant is on the main big bear city road; however it is a bit hidden. The first floor has about 3 tables but there's plenty of seat outside if the weather is nice and I also found out there's an upstairs dining area! Owner says it will be open for the winter season. We ordered 3 bowls of pho and the combination fried rice. The pho broth looked a bit dark but it did have the aromatic flavor. They were pretty generous with the meat but the brisket was dry. The fried rice a bit greasy for my taste but my son enjoyed it. All in all, a great place to fill our tummy and get the pho fix! The owner was super nice and hospitable.

I'm very torn on the rating. The pho broth was decent and probably would have have earned 4 stars by itself(or possibly a big bear 5), but the crispy noodles and Chinese pancake were very disappointing. We got 3 bowls of pho and the noodles were overcooked for one bowl, on the soft side for a second bowl, and good on the third bowl. If you're looking for Asian food in big bear, then the pho is probably one of your best options. If you're walking from the streets north of the restaurant, google maps will try to take you through the back, but it's all fenced off and you'll have to walk up to the Main Street to get in. Workers were friendly and they quite a selection of beer options.

My Pho was tasty and really liked the chili sauce in it! Ole lady liked the chow mein but we were split on the steamed pork buns. I didn't enjoy those. Cool hidden spot up here.

This pho was so good. Definitely worth stopping by in Big Bear. It's outside of the village, parking can be limited. Really enjoyed this pho ob a cold chilly day. Seating was limited the day I went but if open they do have more seating on second floor.

As a true lover of pho I had to check this place out and see if their pho was any good. The broth was pretty decent. Not the best bowl of pho I've ever had but hey, when you're in the mountains of big bear and want a bowl of pho this place comes through in a pinch. Service was friendly and the waiter who came to serve the food had a big smile on his face and accommodated my request for additional accoutrements such as lime and I'm sure would have gave additional bean sprouts as well. They also have a wide variety of beers there, not just the traditional Asian beers but they also had some craft beers in their offerings. Overall just a no nonsense pho spot in the small mountain city of big bear. Would come back again one day if staying in big bear and wanted some hot pho or soup

After hiking in Big Bear, we wanted to find something to eat, and this was one of the closest spot to our hike. The workers are super friendly, but it does seem like the girl working the front was really nervous. Food came out super quick, and was brought out by the cooks. We got the pad Thai, spring rolls, a sprite, and a mango smoothie. The smoothie was really sweet, and tasted like it was made from powder. The spring rolls were probably the best item out of the whole meal, since it was filled with veggies and paired with a really good peanut sauce! The pad Thai was a really good portion size, but it was very saucy and oily. The flavor of it was a little off from typical pad Thai flavors, but texture-wise, it was standard. We didn't see a whole lot of indoor seating, if any, but there's plenty of outdoor seating which made it dog-friendly. There's not a whole lot of Asian spots in Big Bear, so we were still appreciative of this spot offering some Asian flavors. This place is hidden inside the plaza of the Bear Creek Resort. There's parking on the side of the restaurant, or you can possibly also park in the Bear Creek lot and walk over.

I tried this Vietnamese restaurant with a couple friends. The pho they had was okay, but not exceptional. The Bahn Mi sandwich I had would have been good but they used a frozen roll that was thawed but the bottom was hard as a rock which ruined the sandwich. I took it back and they made another one. But any decent chef should know that the bread roll is key to a good sandwich. They did take it back and make it again for me. But again the bread was hard. The food here is a mixture of Chinese, (we had egg noodle), Thai dishes, and Vietnamese dishes. Didn't try the t Not sure if I will try it again. We ate outside. There are a couple tables inside.

Pho big bear was open on Christmas and was genuinely the best experience ever. It was a hardworking family feeding everyone so fast and so kindly. The pho was so amazing and they were some of the best egg rolls I've ever had. Such a comforting meal that I would recommend to anyone!!

Ordered pho noodles, orange chicken with rice and pork buns, and it was all delicious! Thanks to Hilton/Home2Suites for adding this feature to deliver food to our room.

Unfortunately, the service was almost as disappointing as the food Right off the bat, the menus were basically tossed onto the table rather than being properly handed out. After ordering, we waited 30+ minutes for the food and had to repeatedly ask about it. Meanwhile, it really seemed like the kitchen was prioritizing delivery orders while the dine-in customers were left waiting. Not exactly the kind of dining experience you want And then there's the food... calling this Thai is a stretch. I know tastes and interpretations can vary, but this felt very far removed from Thai cuisine. The noodles and rice were prepared in ways that didn't resemble traditional Thai cooking, and the seasoning/spice profile was completely off. To me, it tasted more like Indian-inspired food trying to be Thai than actual Thai food We also ordered the calamari, which came with what appeared to be a commercial dipping sauce on the side, rather than a house-made sauce served as part of the dish. That was another letdown I will give credit where it's due: the staff did keep the water filled, the prices were reasonably fair, and the dining room was quiet and relaxed. Those things earned the extra star But overall, unless you have a lot of time to kill and aren't particularly concerned about the food being authentic or well-executed, I really wouldn't recommend making a special trip here. There are plenty of better options if you're actually looking for Thai food

What is better than a hot steaming bowl of noodles and soup after a long day playing in the snow?…read moreNot much. It was one of those rare occasions that we get real snow in Big Bear. I had just gotten done snowboarding and I was seriously craving some pho or some ramen. I don't want to wait the 90+ min it would take to make it down the mountain so I searched Yelp to see what was available in Big Bear (the city). The first thing that caught my eye was the photos of the Taiwanese beef noodle soup. Now, I grew up eating this famous beef noodle soup so not only did I love the way it tastes, it also has layers of nostalgia for me. When you walk into the cute little restaurant, there isn't much to look at but the giant order screen is up front and enough seating for maybe 4-6 small groups of diners. I opted for a bowl of the beef noodle soup, a side of egg rolls and I also wanted popcorn chicken. My boyfriend wasn't super hungry so he ordered a side of rice and an extra side of noodles to go with the popcorn chicken. Good thing he didn't order anything more than that. The portion sizes were VERY generous. There was no way I was going to be able to eat all the beef in my bowl so I split my beef and some broth with my boyfriend. After both of us got our fill, we ended up taking about half the popcorn chicken home with us and realistically we should have taken the rest of the beef and broth I couldn't finish. I think in the future we will go in knowing that one bowl of beef noodles, plus the extra side of noodles (or two sides) would almost be enough for 3 people to split. I am very happy I found this place. The only thing I wish they had a better selection of is beverages. They only offer some canned Pepsi products and some alcoholic drinks. In summary, -the service, ambiance, and the section of drinks was Meh. -prices were on the higher side -but the portions justify the price. -the egg rolls were boring, -the popcorn chicken was good -the sauce the chicken comes with was delicious -but the noodles are DEFINITELY worth going back for!

The aroma, the texture, the broth brimming with flavor, the added toppings, all formed the concrete masterpiece of a Pho. But let's get into depth, because the paragraph above did not display the true depth of it's greatness. Let's say your friend recommended you a Vietnamese restaurant. You tried a few prior but most of them were mediocre. So you were hesitant but decided to give it a try. When you went up to the entrance, you took a half-a-second peek. The entire restaurant was clean like the slate of a canvas. Once you stepped inside, your nostrils embraced the fresh smell. Even before you could have the opportunity to take a good in-depth look around, that smell made you know everything. You knew it was going to be clean and sparkly, hygienic and orderly. You knew it was going to be a refreshing spot, and you were right! And afterwards, recovering from the intense first impression, you were greeted with welcoming staff, guided to a shiny wooden table, seated on a comfortable chair, and had the ability to choose from a menu filled with variety of meals worth slobbering your tongues over for. You looked at the menu, drool escaping your mouth, frothing perhaps? Whatever, what was important was that you saw utopia. The meals displayed as mere pictures and words already gave you a preview of near future delight, that increment, that sample was almost enough to satisfy the chimeras of your imagination, apart from the actual consumption of-course. Once you ordered, the pearly smile of the waiter inspired hope, like a promise your wishes were to be fulfilled, and there, you dallied with the scenarios. You dallied with how you would greet your meal, that good good Pho... how you would approach it, shake it's hand with the tips of your chopsticks, and slurp it up. You fiddled with your thoughts for quite some time! But suddenly, there! Here she was walking towards you, the same waiter. After 10 minutes of anticipation, the relentless tapping of the leg excited for it's treat, you finally received it. Boxed into a clean bowl, you got to whiff the contents. You prepared your sticks, and dived right into it! Headfirst! The long noodles were whirled into your mouth, you could feel the slimy texture. The smell of the broth, the taste of the broth, the pork, the toppings, the little onions, it was heaven on earth and you witnessed it first hand! After a while, you finished the bowl. You devoured the last pieces, and poured the rest of the broth into your mouth. You took a napkin and wiped your pho-broth-smothered lips and gave a "whoo!" expressing your content. You paid the bill and gave a 15$ tip and walked slowly out the restaurant, taking your time just to slowly hug the smell of your beloved diner, as if it was goodbye. Your hands reached the door handle, a tear welled up in your eye as you gave a quick look back. There was the waiter, there was your ex-table, there was the rest of the smiling staff and the enjoying guests. You mouthed "farewell" and took a step back into the real world, free from the dreams of cuisine. "Will I ever get to see you again?" You heard yourself utter. That was my experience. As you can see. Thank you for everything To Pho.

Dinner had a completely different vibe. The restaurant was busy, which was great to see, and the parking lot was completely full. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted right away and quickly seated. Our table was already set up with menus, and we were looking forward to taking our time, relaxing, and enjoying the evening. However, I felt like the service was a bit rushed. There was a young woman and a gentleman helping us, and the gentleman in particular kept coming back asking if we were ready to order and whether we had enough time to look at the menu. I usually like to ask for recommendations and what's popular, but when I asked, the response was basically that there were too many popular dishes and asked what I wanted instead. We decided to start with an appetizer and continue chatting, but we were approached again about ordering before we were really ready. We eventually ordered the Pad See Ew and fried rice, and both dishes were delicious. I always ask for the chili peppers on the side, and they never disappoint. The food itself was very good, and the lively Friday night atmosphere made for a great experience overall. While I wasn't a fan of feeling rushed by the servers, I still enjoyed the evening. Thai House has great vibes on a Friday night and is definitely a place I'd recommend for a date night or a family dinner. I'll be back, and hopefully next time we can enjoy the meal at a more relaxed pace. Good times roll!
