Our entire family was up in Big Bear for Christmas for 5 days and decided we were sick of turkey and ham leftovers from Christmas. I was in the mood for sweet and sour pork or chicken. We saw this place near our Air BnB and decide to try it. We absolutely loved it. We got the combination meals which included a bunch of appetizers, egg rolls, beef skewers, hot and sour soup, cheese wontons etc.... Our main entrees were Sweet and Sour Pork and Honey Walnut Shrimp. Rice comes with the meals as well. We chose fried rice. We absolutely loved the food. Everything we ate was delicious!!!! The only thing I didn't like as much was the Spring roll appetizer. I would have liked maybe a little more bell peppers, onions and pineapple in the Sweet and Sour Pork but everything was delicious. Came here on a busy weekend and the place was pretty empty for lunch. Service was slow and rather unbearable with just 1 guy. Orange chicken was 1/5 , super saucy and over fried, very Americanized. We felt like some Chinese food & decided to visit the Dynasty restaurant for lunch today. We ordered a couple of lovely drinks to start off our visit and to peruse the many paged menu to hunt down our item of choice for today. I ended up with chicken egg foo young, which was delicious. It arrived as expected, but with more to it then I had received at other places in the past. The flavors were good and I see why this restaurant has been around as long as it has has. Everything was delicious! Good portions, friendly service, and a relaxing atmosphere all contributed to our enjoyable lunch. So here's the deal. If this place was in the center of say Monterey Park it would not be getting such stars. However, when you're in big bear and want something that isn't pizza, burger, bbq.... Well you get it, there are limited options so this is where we landed. Didn't have high expectations so food was great! Especially the ong choy. Great service too! Friendly staff and it was pretty busy so seems like Big Bear folk enjoy coming here. Not very bright and there are areas that could use updating (there's some mysterious jars on the counter on the way to the restroom, uneven booths, etc) but all in all would come here again for a nice soup if I'm in the area during fall/winter season! read more

Had to order food to go for 70 folks at a event at the Holiday Inn The Lodge at Big Bear Lake half a mile away. Dynasty came through with 11 trays of food from fried rice, chow mien, tofu dishes and other vegetarian stir fry options. All the food was eaten. I came in for lunch and had a nice meal. When I first walked in the front patio seemed very scrappy and dirty, but walked into a nice large restaurant with many large comfortable booths & tables. It was two in the afternoon on Wednesday, and I was the only one there. I started with a lychee martini and I must say, it had a very strange taste. I didn't quite recognize it because it did not taste like lychee should. I switched to a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Then I started with the cucumber salad, which was nice. Prepared with a nice garlic sauce with big chunks. Then I ordered the chicken curry and although it was pretty darn good, it did not really have that much curry flavor, which was disappointing. There was a lot of tender chicken in it so overall it was a very good dish. I just wanted more curry flavor. Pretty decent prices with large portions. Service was friendly and efficient. It was my third time visiting Big Bear Lake so it was finally time to try some local Chinese food. Dynasty is located on the long street that pretty much everything is on, making it pretty easy to find. This large restaurant has a ton of seating and a fairly annoying parking lot where giant pickup trucks park like morons making it hard for the regular vehicle to park, which is not Dynasty's fault, just something I wanted to point out. We came here on a Friday night and they had a decent amount of people here with a friendly staff to serve them. The menu has everything you would expect. It's got a bunch of different veggie, beef, chicken, pork, and seafood dishes for everyones hunger. Being a sucker for a rice dish, I went with the shrimp fried rice with what I think was also chicken in it. The food didn't take long to come out and I've gotta say, it was a fairly underwhelming rice dish. The shrimp and chicken itself was fine, but the rice was a tad on the dry side and for a dish I order pretty regularly, it was just fine and nothing more. Overall, you don't have a ton of options for Chinese food on the mountain and if you are craving it, Dynasty is a solid enough place to scratch that itch. My family and I came here for dinner because we wanted some Chinese food. It was early, so it was pretty much empty even we went in. Parking lot is small so it can be a struggle for larger cars. Interior was nice. We ordered the seafood egg flower soup, string beans, and honey walnut shrimp. We weren't expecting what we got because we didn't know it was a different region of Chinese food. The soup was ok. String beans were good and has a lot of garlic. We were disappointed by the honey walnut shrimp because we thought it was the one with the mayo and not tempura style. Our first trip to Big Bear. We wanted to show our doggo snow and ski for the first time here since we decided to go with Ikon pass this year. The waitress was very attentive and kind. The orange beef had a very nice crispiness to it. The beef chow fun noodles had a nice doughy consistency and the cucumber salad added a nice crunch to our meal. Best dinner we had in Big Bear. We ordered Mongolian Beef, Beef Chow Fun, Orange Peel Chicken, and Sizzling Rice Soup (with meat combo) for takeout and were pleasantly surprised with the food. Fresh and tasty. Each entree comes with about 1 cup of rice. Portions were adequate and plenty for a family of four (2 adults and 2 kids under age 12). My only complaint is they didn't pack any chopsticks but luckily our hotel had forks. We are Asian and come from a place with pretty high standards for Asian food to give you an idea of our "expertise". Will be returning. read more

It's got lots of mushrooms, some bamboo shoots, and some tofo (btw, I asked for extra mushrooms and only a little bamboo and a little tofo). Ooling tea is served complimentary. The soup and hot oolong tea were the perfect combination for a snowy (and cold) day visit to Big Bear. The chow mein and Mongolian beef were good, too. The portion sizes were fair for the price. When I walked in, I asked Matt, the excellent waiter, if Barry Wang used to own Mandarin Gardens at the airport, he confirmed my memory was correct! Matt introduced me to Barry, whom I had not seen for over 35 years! Still very energetic! The vegetarian egg rolls were delicious. Great selection of wines! Ordered sweet and sour pork which my husband loved! Portion so large, he has leftovers for tonight. Had a great conversation with Barry about the people who were regular diners at Mandarin Gardens. A great surprise on the mountain! Big portions and quality meat in both entrees. Bbq pork lo mein was tasty and great the next day. Pork fried wontons with sweet n sour totally crave worthy. Teriyaki chicken with steamed veggies was plentiful and nice pieces of well trimmed chicken- sauce a bit bland but still good. Salt n pepper wings were a bit underseasoned and did not have the traditional green onion garlic garnish I'm used to. Delivery was fast and friendly.
