My second time giving this establishment a try again. Hmmm ;( I was really disappointed to be honest . My girls even stated "it's a beautiful restaurant and it's big ", too bad the food was not that good and services are ok". Green beans - too overly cooked was a tad mushy, although flavor was good . Shu Mai - it's smaller in scale than average, taste was alright not the best . Beef chow fun - dry style is missing the smoky aroma and lack savory flavors Fried rice - had shrimps , chicken & kids stated they didn't mind it Fried chicken- was crispy a tad too over cooked to a point it was dry inside . BBQ pork char siu - I don't recommend it , maybe it was a bad batch ? but it did not taste fresh , tasted old like it was cooked the night before and reheated, the color of the pork had a tinge of grey in some pieces. None of us ate it after one bad taste. We were debating if we should mention to the waiter. Since he stop by to ask how was our meal . I had to be honest, showed him the discoloration in some of the pieces and explained to him it smells not fresh . He apologized and asked if we would like to replace it or order another dish instead. We ultimately decided to ask for a refund instead since we wouldn't be able to eat anymore food . Overall our waiter was apologetic and deducted the pork dish from our bill.

Yang chow fried rice...good but pork was a bit hard.

Came here on a Friday evening and loved everything we ordered. We were told the steamed fish would take about 40 minutes, which we didn't mind at all--it's not a dish you often see on menus, and we really wanted to try it. The service was excellent, and we'll definitely be back. What we ordered: * Steamed fish: 10/10 * Yang Chow fried rice: 8/10 * Tofu with preserved eggs: 10/10 * Wasabi fungus: 10/10 * Sweetened vinegar spare ribs: 7/10

Rui's Shanghai Bistro has quickly become one of my favorite spots. The menu is stacked with appetizers and tons of variations of classic dishes, plus a surprisingly good sushi selection. The bubble tea is stellar with multiple flavors to choose from with great boba texture. The passion fruit juice was honestly amazing. The staff was helpful, fast, and on point the entire time. Overall, a great place to grab dinner, try different flavors, and get consistently good service. Highly recommend.

Despite redlands being limited in variety of food, Rui's definitely makes up for it. Huge menu with a lot options, and great drink selection. If the group is wanting either quick take out or a nice dine in experience without driving far, this is the spot. The service is fast and nice too. And the overall location, ambiance, and vibes are perfect as the area and restaurant it self are safe, clean, and welcoming.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It's crazy because it's packed almost every time I go, but the foods average. Some of the items are pretty good, but not the best out there, which is why it's confusing. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong food? I've tried over a dozen items and that's just been the experience thus far. What really knocked my view down a few points is the waiters. On numerous occasions it felt like they've tried to make us uncomfortable so we leave quickly. I've gone in groups, two person tables, a group of four, I mean I could go on, but each time, it's been the same experience. They have a lot of people to seat so I get the need to turn tables over quickly, but hovering and making passive aggressive comments toward the end of the meal has been a common theme.

Beautiful location with plenty of parking. The restaurant has a modern and minimalist decor with a traditional Chinese touch. Service is great. Very attentive staff that one might expect in a 5 star restaurant. Rui's has a large facility with a roomy interior. Bathrooms are very clean. I ordered from the early dinner, lunch combo type menu. Selection is somewhat limited to a few American Chinese items. I.e. orange chicken, kung pao and sweet & sour services rice, side dish in a bento box. Food was fresh with quality ingredients but was a bit bland lacking umami. The chili sauce and soy sauce at the table came in handy. Overall, it's a good restaurant for gathering with a nice atmosphere . There's a decent wine selection by the glass. I'll likely return to try some of the specialty items

Easy parking + efficient service + spacious restaurant with a modern interior. We ordered the beef pancakes ($12), hot and sour soup ($9), wontons in chili oil ($12), and black pepper beef ($17). Tastes like what you would get at a typical Chinese restaurant. Beef rolls were nicely stuffed with a nice ratio of beef and cilantro. Vibes were great.

Me and my boys, decided to try this place for dinner; we did not make a reservation, but had no problem getting a table. It's an upscale sit down restaurant, perfect for a date night or family dinner. We had the spicy lamb, cashew nut chicken, spicy wonton in red oil and moo Shu pork. Service was excellent and the food was served promptly.

First time trying Rui's and it did not disappoint! The food was great, the black peppered beef was the standout for me: tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The lo mein was also delicious, full of flavor and great texture. The orange peel chicken wasn't as memorable, but still good. The restaurant has a classy, clean ambiance. Our waiter was kind and incredibly helpful, even while handling all the tables on his own. Only downside was the receptionist at the front, not the friendliest welcome. Thankfully, the 2nd hostess (with the braided ponytails) was super sweet and made us feel much more welcome. They have a huge menu with a little something for everyone. I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

Clean, spacious and nice food. Staff was a bit standoffish. Patrons were very chatty with each other. Food arrived quickly.

Rui's Shanghai Bistro has changed a lot since I last reviewed. Their new restaurant is hard to miss-- it's an enormous building in the heart of Redlands. With an upscale interior, tons of seating, and ample waitstaff, Rui's is unrecognizable from the tiny hole in the wall restaurant that it used to be. Fortunately, the recipes appear unchanged and all of my favorites still have that same flavor. The menu is even bigger than it used to be so there's always something new to get here. The honey walnut shrimp/chicken/vegetarian chicken is a must try, and I'm still a big fan of the sweet chicken curry as well. They've also added a sushi menu (though I'd pass on this, personally-- it's a little expensive and I come here for the Shanghainese flavors rather than sushi) as well as a dessert menu that includes several different flavors of shaved ice.

Went here for my birthday celebration and did not regret it one bit! The place has a nice aesthetic, the food was delicious. My favorite had to be the pancakes and dim sum. I will day that the duck was my least favorite since it was a little dry. Everything is family style and we thought we ordered too much food but we ended up finishing all of it!

The space is clean, bright, and welcoming, with some cool semi-private booths along the side that give it a nice touch. The menu is simple but hits all the popular dim sum-style dishes, with their specialty being Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings). We went all in and tried a little bit of everything: shumai, shrimp dumplings, sticky rice in lotus leaf, BBQ pork buns, cucumber salad, pork XLB, black truffle & pork XLB, and beef fried udon noodles. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and well executed........we cleared every plate. What really stood out was the service. Honestly, I don't always expect standout service at Asian spots (and I say that as someone who is Asian), but this place went above and beyond. There were multiple servers helping throughout, bringing food, refilling drinks, checking in, and everyone was genuinely friendly and attentive. As someone who waited tables for years, that level of service really stood out. They even brought us complimentary egg tarts since they were closing soon, which was a nice touch. You can also watch the dumpling makers through a glass window, which adds to the experience and gives off slight Din Tai Fung vibes, but without the long drive. It's family-friendly, great for sharing, and just a fun, satisfying meal overall. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

Food is stellar and of value (6 XLB for $8!), portion sizes are good, and everything is piping hot! The soup dumplings have soo much soup IMO beating out Mama Lu's which is what I would consider to be their nearest competitor. The spicy shrimp wontons are also good, but I think the flavors don't quite hit as well - big pieces of shrimp are enclosed though! The Peppered Beef Udon was great the beef pieces were tender and juicy and great textured noodles. Onion pancakes are a staple along w/cucumber salad (not pictured) , and their pan fried pot stickers are my favorite along with the sauce it comes with. Sooo crispy. Pro tip: If you are a first timer/came from far and waited a while don't let them seat you at the bar the experience is not as nice by far (I saw someone say it's like paying to stare at a wall - I concur) Being seated at a booth or table will allow you the full experience but I do understand there's only a limited amount of room in the bustling place.

We ordered the dish I was craving, which translates to fish braised meat strips?? The dish does not have a fish taste at all but more of a tangy/sweet-ish/salty flavor that I love. The portion was large for the price and it came out perfectly seasoned - my craving was satisfied. This dish had more meat than I am used to and do wish they added 木耳 or 豆乾 to lighten it up a bit. Also ordered the meatballs which were large and hefty! They were so good and perfect with rice. Came with napa cabbage and fresh bamboo as well. Lastly, we ordered the seaweed fried fish, which hit the spot for my fish craving. The fish wasn't fishy at all and the flavor was good. Wish they provided the salt and pepper dip but I guess we could have asked them and they would have provided. Service was extremely kind, it felt like I was eating at my mom's home and the food hit the spot.
