This is my favorite Chinese restaurant, the quality of ingredients is unmatched. Every single dish I had was an explosion of flavors in my mouth. Intoxicating, mouth watering aromas from the kitchen, I am impatient and cannot wait for the dishes to arrive at my table. This is my fifth time coming here alone and with friends. I've never had an issue with the wait or the service. Everything is tip notch and I just absolutely love this restaurant. Today I ordered, the green beans and it's simply the best I've ever had. Just the right amount of salt and garlic, and what a crunch. The hot and sour soup, authentic and better than Chinatown. It's salty, spicy, vinegary, bamboo shoots was crushy too. The roasted duck was spectacular, crunchy skin and flavorful meat. Perfect seasoning. The orange chicken is a must. Crunchy and so so tasty. Every chicken pieces were crunchy and no bad pieces in this batch. This is not your panda Express orange chicken or Panda Inn, this is your Mr Chows Beverly hills orange chicken. So I went back to China Republic again I do enjoy their food. It is so fresh authentic unfortunately, the service was not as good. Our waiter seemed very disoriented. He kept forgetting some of our dishes. He took a long time to get his refills. That's one thing that does bother me we're paying and tipping for Service and it should be done with the upmost care and consideration we ordered the packing duck the Mushu, which was suggested by the waiter, which was very delicious and the beef with the mushrooms Beef with the mushrooms was seasoned and flavored so deliciously texturally with the variety of different mushrooms that were in this dish was such a delight to eat The Peking duck is always one of my favorite the skin is extra crispy than meat is very moist. Came to pick up lunch today, everything was ready in 20 minutes. Arrived at my brother's house to find out the shu mai was missing. Called it in and was able to grab it after coming back to the restaurant. The manager gave us a free dim sum which was nice. Food was delicious! Enjoyed every dish we ordered from the snap shoots, eggplant, fish fillet, duck, pork chop, beef and mushrooms. Next time we're in Fontana again would love to dine in. The staff was quite attentive and always ready to clear out empty dishes and make room on our table, but sometimes a little too soon before we could even clear the plate! Everything was really satisfying and delicious, but my favorites would have to be the eggplant and walnut shrimp. Had my doubts about this spot but my parents said if was hella good so gave it a shot. The dishes are all dishes I've seen before. They don't have any "new" or dishes out of the ordinary. BUT where they lack in creativity or modernity they make up in EXECUTION/QUALITY. All the dishes were so good. They also have dim sum on the dinner menu! The crab was fried to perfection. You could easily bite in to get the meat. We had two crabs dishes... The house signature black pepper and the fried crab. The French beef dish was so tender I was surprised they could do it that well. The macau pork belly had the perfect amount of crisp and not too much fat. The Beijing duck comes with the duck like shredded so I'd be aware of that. I still found it to be really good tho and to have a ton of meat. The food way hot and made with fresh ingredients. It was amazing, to me. The meat, chicken and shrimp were cooked just right. My wife tasted the Chow Fun and she also said it was very good. My family has been spreading the word about China Republic for some time now. We have a favorite aunt in Rancho, so my wife will often go to China Republic with her and sometimes our kids. My reservations were strictly a "me" problem; nevertheless, no matter whose fault it is, I want to be able to eat, and I am on a really strict pescatarian Mediterranean diet. China Republic has a large menu, and even though most people seem to come for the dim sum and traditional Chinese fare, there is no shortage of delicious healthy options for people such as myself. The steamed fish was big and tender, and because the rest of our party of ten was eating the usual goodies, I had the whole dish to myself. It was most satisfying. Besides the fish, I had black mushrooms in a vinegar sauce and a variety of other vegetable offerings. Everything was delicious. Ambiance: The ambiance is very nice. It's a little on the formal side, with nice tea service, chopsticks, clean tablecloths, and bone China, but it isn't overly so. I saw people adorned in a wide range of outfits, from hoodies and jeans to polos and Oxfords, and nice blouses and skirts or even dresses. Nobody seemed or was made to feel out of place. Service: The service was excellent. Food came out promptly, and the wait staff kept our water glasses and other drinks filled. They were also quick about removing empty plates from our table's carousel. We felt well taken care of and appreciated. Overall: Overall, I had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend. My family and I were craving some dim sum and China Republic seems to be the only restaurant in the IE area that offers it! One thing I will note is that they are quite expensive compared to other dim sum restaurants we've tried. I believe their dishes range from $5+ per plate which is pretty pricey but if you don't want to drive out to Rowland heights, OC or LA - this is your only option. Their food is good though! We tried all the standard dim sum dishes: Steam char sui bal, custard tarts, Custard buns, sesame buns etc. everything tasted great! Service fast with water, dishes come out hot, as prepared. Ambiance is familiar style eating. This time and last time, I got the Peking duck - it's cold but it's good. Loved the interior and how it's ancient chinese style, very fancy and clean The dim sum dishes were yummy, i wished they had more options tho! we tried the chive and shrimp pancake which is not on the menu and i loved the flavor. The french style beef steak was also tender, the portion size was just okay tho, it's just a layer on top and it's all onions on the bottom. The service can definitely be improved. Har Gow is overstuffed with shrimp, Sui Mei is large and flavorful, Beef Balls have a pleasant hint of lemon grass, Rice Noodles come with choice of several meats. The pork and shrimp mixture used in the xiu mai was dry and a bit too firm. The xlb came out cool and you can see dark spots on the wrapper where the juice had burst during cooking, leaving the xlb very dry when eaten. When we first came in, we got seated in the corner table, but the seating was all full of crumbs, and I had to sweep it off to in order to sit down. We then had no service so we had to flag someone to wait on us. After we got waited on the person cleaning kept sweeping by us and moving tables around so it was an unpleasant environment and he was very loud clanking dishes and sweeping right next to us as we were eating. I asked for an iced tea and there was so much lemon and lime in it that I couldn't even taste the tea and I don't even like lemon in my tea. First, the Green Beans. I don't know what kind of wizardry they're using back there, but those beans deserve their own fan club. Then there's the Walnut Shrimp, which might just be the eighth wonder of the culinary world. Sweet, savory, crunchy--it's basically a perfect bite every time. While the selection of dim sum may not be as varied as other spots but the al cart menu is vast and can fill your needs. I would definitely recommend China Republic. My family and I celebrated my mom's retirement and they were very accommodating to our group of 6 people. The plates are family style so we shared everything. The best part is their lovely spinning table which makes it easy to share food with the entire table. Everything we ordered was tasty. Was given the excuse that the kitchen is busy but mind you they've all been catered too. And it looks like this. So tell me your kitchen is busy why? Just seems like they didn't want to serve us but not only that we didn't order drinks they just assumed waters would be okay. But no extra napkins, no water refills and no one checking to see if everything is okay. The fact that I had to flag our waiter down but he's okay going to bigger tables and checking with others.
