We came here on a Thursday night for an early dinner. This was our second time we've been here in less than 2 weeks and definitely didn't disappoint. The waiter was very friendly and kept refilling our water without asking. My family ordered the following items: walnut shrimps that came with French fries (10/10, both my son and husband's favorite dish of the night) large slightly battered shrimps with a sweet mayo glazed over it, the candied walnuts were ok, beef chow fun (10/10, my favorite dish) large portions with large pieces of marinated beef with lots of bean sprouts, sweet and green onions (chef's kiss), orange chicken (8/10) it came out piping hot out of the kitchen, the chicken has a semi-thicker batter and was well coated in the orange sauce, the steamed broccoli was an excellent palate cleanser, Mongolian beef (10/10, love all the extra sweet onions in the dish), if you love onions like I do, this dish won't disappoint, the beef is marinated really well wok fried with all that sweet onions is absolutely delicious, and the last item was the chef's special green beans (10/10) this dish is definitely a knockout, it's fried crispy with tons of garlic and very very well seasoned. The salted fried rice with chicken had a great balance of saltiness and flavor, though I would have preferred more diced chicken. With the amount of high reviews coming from this spot next to the local 99 Ranch store, I figured it could be a good spot for some takeout. Ordering in on a Friday evening, their Kung Pao Chicken seemed appetizing at a price of $14, so I decided to order this along with a side of rice. Now compared to other restaurants, the Kung Pao Chicken at Red Chilli House is somewhat different in both their ratio and ingredient choices. For starters, the dish was only made up of three ingredients: chicken, peanuts, and chili peppers. Not only this, but the ratio was in favor of meat with only a few peanuts strewn about the dish. For $14 in the Rancho Cucamonga area, I enjoyed the portion size and how generous the portion of chicken was. Each piece was rather thick and the dish was full of meat. But to this fact, I would have wished for more peanuts or some accompanying vegetables. The taste of the dish was also a different take compared to other restaurants in the area. For this particular Kung Pao Chicken, the flavor was sweeter than normal....almost as if an Orange Chicken mixed with a Kung Pao Chicken. Not only this, but the Kung Pao Chicken itself was somewhat crispy and coated with sauce. If this doesn't bother you, then the dish could easily be a great option. Otherwise, the food was very tasty. Despite being covered with the sweet sauce, the chicken itself was both flavorful and leaned more on the dry side. The spice of the dish faded more towards the background, but was present nonetheless. Kung Pao Chicken is a very particular dish that usually is made in a specific manner. And with this unique take, I wasn't too sure at first about whether I was truly enjoying it or not. But after thinking about this dish more, I do find certain aspects of it to be charming. Sure the taste of the dish is definitely catered towards those craving "Americanized" Chinese food. However, I would argue Red Chilli House's Kung Pao Chicken easily deserves 4 stars for its generous portion of chicken and cohesive flavor. I would more than likely try something else the next time I drop by. But the Kung Pao Chicken here screams comfort in many great ways. read more

Mocha cream bun and Mango Pomela buns were unique and tasty! Dislikes: pork ribs had very little meat on the ribs. It didn't taste right. Xiao long bao was over cooked. Lamb with chili peppers and celery was amazingly delightful! Mild spice was perfect with a hot bed of white rice. Can't wait to eat the rest of our haul - combination fried rice, eggplant - fish flavored casserole - and mild spicy stewed fish with vegetables. This place is conveniently located in the 99 Ranch plaza, so we stopped by here for a quick lunch (bonus that they opened for Christmas). We ordered green onion pancakes, dan dan noodles, la zi ji (fried chicken with sichuan peppercorn), xiao long bao, lettuce wrap with stir fried minced chicken, and they also gave free dim sum for purchases over $30 before tax/tip. Green onion pancake - they were cut in small slices and they were soaked in a lot of oil but not with a lot of flavor. Green onion in general is fairly abundant and low cost, yet they put a few dust-sized green onion bits and that is about it. Dan dan noodles - I have had this dish in a lot of Sichuan restaurants, and this one is way too salty and it is more like peanut/sesame noodle. The noodles are a bit overcooked as well. I am not sure how they ruined this dish. La zi ji - this one is half decent. However, they served mostly flour as there are barely sizable chunks of chicken inside - each piece is fairly small. The flavor is there, but I hoped the numbing spiciness is a bit more prominent as some pieces tasted bland. Xiao long bao - the composition is there but there is a weird aftertaste to this. This somehow took over an hour for them to make - we had to flag down the server and then we finally got it, but it was lukewarm so they must have forgot about it for a while. Lettuce wrap with stir fried minced chicken - my most accurate point of comparison was an amazing version of this dish I recently had in Monterey Park, in the 626 area, which is why we ordered this dish because we were craving something of that caliber. Here, the lettuce is not separated well - they just throw in a chunk of lettuce with no effort, and the stir fry is also a bit too salty and heavy on the bell peppers - somewhat reminds me of cheap Chinese takeout but I expected higher quality stir fry for the price they charge. Service is supposed to be hands-off but the server did a really amazing job avoiding eye contact in the part of the tables we were sat, for like 15+ minutes, so we never were able to follow-up with the status of the har gow or refill water. Additionally, the har gow never came and they want to make us wait even longer for it and decided to just toss in BBQ pork buns, a substantially cheaper item. It is the preparation that matters, as regardless, the dim sum is free so I can't complain too much, but we were presented a choice that we made over an hour ago, and with a few follow ups to different servers promising to deliver, so there is no way they would take this long to make a few pieces and fail to deliver.
