A year later and we're back for Chinese New year lunch this time. The service was much better this time. There's only one lady. She is always there. She is not the nicest or the friendliest. She was more accommodating to our party of 14 than she was last year. When we asked for something she brought it. One thing, she can only split the check 2 ways. Oh well. The food this time was better. The serving sizes were big and the prices were reasonable. Hence the 4 star. My favorite dish was the fish porridge. I also liked the fish in black bean sauce. The XO beef was always a favorite of mine. I would skip the Kung pao chicken.

This place is disgustingly filthy. The service is horrible. The restaurant looked like this while the server sat in the dining area

Celebrated my mom's birthday a few weeks ago and her one request was Hong Kong Style crispy noodles. Tai Pan House was one of the only places that distinctly came up on the Yelp search with this style of noodles, so we took a chance and ordered our dinner from here for take out. They did not disappoint. The food was good, especially the crispy noodles, and the service was friendly. They made a strong first impression. Tai Pan House is located in a small shopping center off of Archibald Avenue. The restaurant occupies its own building within the center but shares plenty of free parking with the other businesses. As noted above, we ordered our food for takeout. We called the order in and the time they estimated for pickup was reasonable and accurate. Our food was ready upon our arrival. Although we took the order to go, the food remained warm despite the drive home. Our order consisted of - Chinese Pancake with Scallion - Orange Chicken - Honey Walnut Shrimp - House Special Hong Kong Style Chow Mein - Shrimp Fried Rice Although we ordered takeout, the portions for the dishes were very generous. The price point for the meal was also very reasonable. Our favorite items were the Honey Walnut Shrimp and Hong Kong Style Chow Mein. Both were tasty and very fresh. The Chinese Pancake with Scallion was good, but very greasy. We would steer clear of this item in the future. The Orange Chicken was plentiful, but several pieces tasted like they have been prepared from earlier in the day. Overall, we did enjoy our meal from Tai Pan House and would visit them again if we were in the area or if we had a craving for their Hong Kong Style Noodles. Definitely, a solid option for authentic Chinese food in the area.

Some sort of shrimp egg flour soup with zero salt or seasoning.

Are you kidding me? I was CRAVING some Chow Fun and ordered it with beef. I don't know if the woman who took my order was confused but it should be pretty cut and dry of what basic Beef Chow Fun is. She told me the extra container is what you pour over the noodle. I was like...what? Usually you don't have a separate container to mix in the noodles. I thought it was some new thing they had going, but I was tired and just wanted to get home. So anyway I get home and I open it up to find PLAIN noodles with NO BEEF, and no seasoning! Then there is a container of Egg Flower Soup with Shrimp. The person I wanted to share it with has a seafood allergy! What a fail! I feel like they just slapped something together and brought it out because they didn't know what beef chow fun meant. It's literally on the menu. How do they not know what's on their own menu? Unless I just got someone else's order, but she told me that I poured what's in the container over the noodles so it had to have been mine. I spent $18 on this and I feel completely cheated. Look at the photos I took of it. She wanted me to pour egg flower soup over plain noodles and said that this is the chow fun?

I love the food variety there - it's authentic Chinese cuisine, mouthwateringly tasty and delicious. But keep your guard up; those clumsy cooks can screw up and leave bits of steel cleaning pads in your meal. It's not on purpose, but damn, watch what you're shoving down your throat.

Frogs legs

I ordered the frog legs and shrimp fired rice. I've eaten frog legs all over the country, and these were by far the biggest and most flavored Ive had to date. Highly recommend this place if you looking for them. They were a little pricey compared to the other places I've went to but the size of the dish explains the price. Customer service could use some improvements. I waited at the front for my order to be taken for about 5 mins before even being acknowledged, but I will give them the benefit of doubt that they were busy.

Food was average Chinese cuisine. The green beans with beef XO sauce was my favorite. The lo mein noodle was bland and pig's feet were tough to bite. Not pressurized enough. The fried deep soul was ok. Been coming here for awhile but today was ok. Service was always excellent. Fast and gives all we need. Ambiance quiet airy and spacious .

This place has good authentic Chinese food, the service is quick but not the friendliest. I wouldn't eat in, we normally take out!

The place was pretty empty, yet the service was still very slow .To be fair, there was only one girl handling everything!! seating guests, taking orders, and serving food, while another man would occasionally come by to drop something off and then disappear. The food was the biggest letdown. The sauce was extremely dark, thick, and bland, with abt 6 large bay leaves in it. It also had a very bitter taste that overpowered everything. On top of that, the menu is very limited, only two combo options. If you want crab and shrimp together, you're forced to buy them separately, and it's not cheap The only upside was that they had a deal where if you spend over $70 before tax, you get a free item from a selected list. Also, the crab meat and shrimp themselves were very meaty and fresh, which is the main reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one. Overall, I wouldn't return. The food , service and price just weren't worth it.

To my taste, this is by far the best Star Crab location I've been to…read more The owner and staff were genuinely friendly and helpful from start to finish, which already sets the tone. The flavor and seafood were absolutely on point. My group of five ordered the Snow Star Family Bucket with Full House sauce, and everything came out fresh, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. Portions were solid and we all left very full and very satisfied. If I had to nitpick: The mild Full House sauce was a little spicy for something labeled "mild." Still tasty, just a heads-up for anyone sensitive to heat. The fried calamari was good flavor-wise, but it was a bit light on calamari and heavy on fries. Small side note: my wife and I love having boiled eggs with our seafood boil, but unfortunately they don't offer boiled eggs here. Not a deal-breaker, just something we personally missed. Overall though, great food, great service, and a spot I'd happily come back to again. Easily our favorite Star Crab so far.

We were seated right…read moreaway, but they initially placed us at a table in the middle that was too small for our group of six, so we requested a booth along the wall instead. They provided us menus, pretty straightforward; choose seafood, add sides for an extra cost, choose the flavor, and the spice level. One thing not noted on the menu is that shrimp isn't peeled, but they can peel them for an extra $6. And each order comes in pound increments. No half a pound offered. Your table is also covered with paper so you can eat the seafood boil from there. They provide bibs and gloves for no charge. Ultimately, we enjoyed our meals. Everything was flavorful and, unlike some other seafood boil spots, it didn't leave us feeling like we had heartburn afterward. There's a little sink for you to clean your hands at, which is nice since you dont have to wait for the restroom to empty. The service is what was a bit off. Like we asked for 3 Cajun fry boats but only received 2. Drinks were mixed up, and the clam chowder didn't arrive until about 20 minutes after our seafood bags had already been delivered. If you want ranch for your fries, they charge 60 cents for a small container. For drink refills, they bring a pitcher, but it's the kind typically used for measuring ounces. The server also tended to reach across one end of the table to grab empty cups or pass out food. Since I was seated at the end, it felt awkward having to help pass things down, especially since there were other access points to reach people in our party. We left around 920pm. I only mention it because we were the last group there, and we all noticed the heater seemed to have been turned on. Restaurant sign says open til 10pm on Sat. but we saw them turn off their open sign when we went outside. Needless to say, service could have been better.

When we first walked in, the place looked empty, and my wife and I almost considered leaving. Just as we were about to head out, a server came over, seated us, and explained the menu. The $45 menu is extensive, featuring a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes such as escargot (ốc), pho, and bò né (Vietnamese sizzling beef steak), among many others. We ordered escargot with tamarind sauce, oysters with cheese, a lobster special, rau muống (water spinach) with garlic, glass noodles, and a ribeye steak. This isn't a typical buffet--each dish is cooked to order. It took about 15 minutes since there were only two chefs, but the wait was absolutely worth it. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served piping hot. The lobster was a whole lobster with claws, and the ribeye was a generous cut served sizzling at the table. The portions are large, and our server kindly warned us ahead of time--we're glad we listened! The owner was friendly, and the service was attentive throughout our meal. My wife and I loved this place and will definitely be coming back. It's great to have quality Vietnamese food nearby without having to travel all the way to OC.

FANTASTIC PLACE FOR FOOD AND A PARTY!…read more I had the privilege of being invited to a party with some friends who had booked their event with Sea Queen Restaurant and I cannot deny that I was only impressed with the food, decor, staff, and the entire experience. If you are interested in booking your own event here, I recommend it. If you have no events coming up and just want some amazing food, still come here for that too! Amazing dishes are cooked and served here. It is mostly Vietnamese cuisine that you would find here, but hey... who doesn't enjoy this kind of cuisine? There is so much this restaurant has to offer. Not to mention there are weekly events; even a karaoke night. Lastly, if you enjoy sea snails, escargot, and don't want to drive out of the IE to the OC for some... just come here!
