Came in a few days ago and I must say we just found our new spot in Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga area. Green beans, dry bean curd with chives, mapo tofu, chili chicken cube, everything was phenomenal. Absolutely coming back every other week. Super nice lady. Chef killed it. read more

Ordered Spicy Szechuan Crispy Chilli Chicken Mixed Beef Slices in hot Sauce Local Hunan Flavored Lamb And Szechuan Cold Noodles I always thought this place in the past was an offshoot of the Red Chilli Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga / Upland by the 99 Ranch Supermarket, but I guess it deviates way far from both the Red Chilli Restaurants in Redlands and Upland from 8-15 years ago. I cant justify any of these dishes making me want to consume bowls upon bowls of rice. That's what spicy Szechuan and Hunan food is supposed to do....it should make you awaken your taste buds, with the power of their chilli peppers, Szechuan green & red peppercorns, and the umamis derived from MSG. Nope, I didn't crave the Lazi Chicken...nor the Hot Oil Beef Mix... Not the Cold Noodles, and I left with a $122 receipt in hand for 2 more takeout items on top of the 4 main dishes I've shared.....and I felt pretty empty. Empty in a sense, I could DO BETTER at home mixing my own Szechuan Cold Noodles, with Home Made Chili Oil, Sesame Paste, Sugar. Chicken Bullion, Minced Garlic, Vinegar, and Cilantro. I almost felt robbed here.....either every dish was lacking peppercorns and numbness, or it was missing Umami, Alot of it...so I leave anyone who wants to challenge my opinion otherwise and prove me wrong that the food here indeed belongs in a long list of top notch Szechuan Hunan Restaurants in Los Angeles. Even if this place opened up in Phoenix, I'm sorry, it's going to rank in the lower end of the bell curve. It was a hot day. I felt the service lady doesn't know how to tell "Customers Need Ice Water" and I had to vocally tell her ice and water please. I don't know, been a long week, haven't gone home for 10 days and just been bouncing on and off my rig all across the US....I just wanted some food I could really enjoy today, and Chili Bistro failed to deliver. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this dish was honestly terrible. The "Sour & Spicy Cabbage" was neither sour nor spicy--it tasted like cabbage cooked with only garlic and a large amount of very poor-quality oil. The oil had an extremely unpleasant smell and taste, almost as if it had gone bad. I was very hungry, so I ate some, but afterward I was genuinely worried it might make me sick. Very disappointing. read more

Chili Bistro is very no frills and gives strong home-cooked comfort food vibes. Portions are large, which is always appreciated. We ordered the ox tripe with bamboo shoots and that was the standout. One note on spice. If you're someone who actively seeks heat, this probably won't do it. We asked for spicy and it was pretty mild in my opinion. Still tasty, just not actually spicy. read more

Greeted by the server as soon as we made an entrance. This was at 6 pm and seemed empty! We were seated at Table 6. Server Mora presented a tablet pad to put in our order. Craving for a Potk Belly dish so I ordered the Grandma Braised Pork Belly and hubby had the Home Style Tofu! Both were delicious and bursting with garlicky flavor. Servings were generous and we had leftovers to take home! We enjoyed the quiet time dinner with the music playing. read more

The food was way too salty. We ordered the cumin lamb and the beef with Chinese parsley to go on a saturday evening. The cumin lamb was unexpectedly very spicy and didn't taste a lot like cumin. Not to mention that it was very very salty. The Chinese beef with parsley was also extremely salty, almost to a point of being inedible. Even when compared to instant ramen, the dishes were salty. However, portions were pretty generous for both dishes. The food came out pretty quick, in less than 10 minutes or so. read more

Like my previous review, food was good. I am very disappointed of how the business owner is reacting to my comment. I have you a 4 star because of the food. Now customer service was not that great but hey I am there for the food. I've mentioned that average price was $19. You only quoted what I had ordered but I was talking about the average price on the menu. There's a better way to respond to my review. I hope next time you comment on a review, think really hard of what you write as it makes your resto look bad. Ambiance is ok. read more

Expected the food here to be spicier. The chili chicken had too much batter and it had a sweet taste to it which I didn't find appealing. More sweet than spicy even though there's a lot of chilis used. The hot sour shredded potato was just ok. Service was friendly and it is a small restaurant. read more

Ok reception. Excited to try their Grandmas Pork Belly. Looks so good on their bussiness web site but disappointed when we got there. We were expecting sweet, a little tangy, a little salty with all the traditional Chinese herbs seasoning but it was just too much salt on the food. Same thing with the tofu. It got better when paired with rice and maybe that was the intention. Service not so great either. We were never checked and asked if there's anything more we needed. In fact sweetheart had to get up to ask our server for some drinks. Uncomfortable ambiance. Didn't feel welcomed. Place was not busy at all. We were the only customer until another group of 4 came in later. Disappointed with the food and the service too. Not sure of coming back again. Note; Their website says open seven days a week and their door sign too says so but they're actually closed on Saturdays. There's another door sign (not on website) saying closed on Saturdays due to shortage of worker confusing) Found that out after driving 20 minutes on a Saturday the day before we had our actual meal (came back on Sunday). Confusing but host said they're close on Saturdays. read more

read more

Very disappointed with our visit. My family and I came after shopping--we've been here multiple times before and always enjoyed the food, so we decided to have dinner. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. After ordering our food, no one came by to ask if we wanted any beverages. Once we had already started eating, an older lady finally asked if we wanted hot tea. We said yes, but she never mentioned there would be an extra charge. When we finished eating, she offered us some home-grown persimmons to try. We assumed this was simply a kind gesture. However, when we received the bill, the hot tea was listed as $2.75, and the five persimmons were $6--and they were nearly spoiled. I could have bought fresh ones at the market for much less. To make things worse, they added a tip to the bill without our permission. If I hadn't checked the receipt carefully, I would have paid double the tip. Overall, we felt unwelcome, overcharged, and misled. DO NOT COME TO HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE EXTRA MONEY FOR NOWHERE TO SPEND!!!!!! read more

2.5 stars. I've gotten food from here from time to time throughout these years and it's been pretty good. This last time, only got the following: - cold cucumber appetizer - had no flavor, didn't even eat it after one bite - chicken w/ broccoli - good - house sepcial fried noodle (soft) - not bad, used to taste better if I recall These days, it seems that you have to remember how each Chinese restaurant tasted the last time or two you got it to determine if you'll get it the next time and I think I'll go to another place I know is better (as far as I know) next time around. read more

So regret everything I've ordered (take out) after come home for a family dinner. When they first opened back then me and my family dine in there, and all dishes were impressive. But unfortunately today what I've order make us feel so bad about their food...., what happened?!! Regardless every dishes is oilly as well as no taste? 1. "Chilly oil chicken,", the chicken seems like being sitting in kitchen's refrigerator for a long long time? The texture is not appreciated. 2. One of the saddest dish, "grandma' s pork belly" which is the one I have high expectation for it, but unfortunately it disappointed us the most. The way it cook for this belly suppose to be tender isn't it? Same thing here, I do not know how long has this dish been stored or reheat again and again. The meat is soooo dry ...way too dry and old. 3. "Tofu bean curd ", tasteless and never see this dish left so mush oil without taste, what a joke. Are you sure it's stir fried? This is one of basic Chinese dish! Overall, very dispointed read more

Do the people reviewing this place not have taste buds? I honestly couldn't stand it! The food reminded me of home cooking by someone who really doesn't know how to cook, and it also seemed like they were just using ingredients that were already expiring. The utensils were dirty and looked worn out, and the food took forever to arrive. I'm so mad that people rated this place 4 stars and wasted my time and money! read more

Didn't realize it was 10 months ago that they said come back, and they'll give me a free spicy beef noodle stew if I just asked for Vicky. I was really hoping A) she still worked there. And B) she remembered what she told me 10 months ago. So I placed an order via grub hub. Then I called into the restaurant. And to my surprise, Vicky picked up, and she actually remembered that she owed me a beef noodle stew from like 10 months ago. And she honored it with no problems. So that's an A+ in the realm of customer service. Food was ready for pick up even before their estimated time, which is great!! The food I ordered last time was so good that I had to order them again, which were the kong pao beef, dry pot pork intestines and honey walnut shrimp. And yes, they are still as good as I remembered them. Both the beef and the pork intestines were spicy but flavors were still on point. And they give you so much of it, that it's definitely worth ordering again. The shrimp isn't spicy which is a nice break from all the chili oil and jalapeños. I also ordered their local flavor lamb which also came with a good amount of thinly sliced and shredded lamb. Tasted amazing!! As well as their sweet and sour deep fried fish. The sauce comes in a second container, which is great. Really prevents the fish from getting all soggy. It also went big on flavors. Lastly, I had my complimentary spicy beef noodle soup. Everything was packaged separately for transportation, which is great. It's definitely spicy for me. The large beef cubes were so soft and easily able to be cut thru with a spoon or fork. Really cleared up my sinuses!! Definitely 5/5 stars when it comes to the food. Taste is exquisite. Amount is ridiculous in a good way. And it was just legit amazing!! Customer service was great. Vicky kept to her word even though it was 10 months ago. Ladies and gentlemen I think it is safe to sat, this is my goto spot for Chinese food locally!!! read more

Restaurant located near the LOL kids Ontario plaza. Inside seating space is limited but comfortable. We had a party of 6, 3 adults and 3 kids. Ordered quite a lot of items. Fried dumplings, soup dumplings, marinated beef slices, spicy intestine noodle soup, sliced lamb with peppers, pickled fish soup, ground pork with pickled long beans(no picture). Overall the dishes were good. I had no complaints on taste and quality. I found everything dish seasoned well and each bite left me impressed. I like this restaurant more than other local Chinese restaurants because the cooking feels more representative of food you might see in mainland China. Also, the amount of food felt it was more than normal. Then again, I was pretty hungry when we arrived. The service was a bit slow since they seem to only had one person handling the floor. We had to ask for utensils and water without them providing it first. But I would recommend this place more than W Cafe or Little Eastern Restaurant. read more

Located in a plaza on Milliken. Plenty of parking. We came here because I was looking for a nearby place that had egg drop soup. They had tomato and egg soup so I just requested no tomatoes or corn added because my teen didn't like tomatoes or corn. Plus, I ordered ma po tofu non-spicy and green onions pancakes and a Thai tea to go. The place wasn't full. Only one family eating here so it didn't take long to get my order to go. They prepared our meals quickly. The place looked nice, but the floor was sticky which surprised me because there wasn't a lot of people there. The employees noticed it too and immediately mopped the floor when the other customers left. My teen loved the soup, but my hubby didn't care for the ma po tofu because it was way too spicy for him even though I asked it not to be spicy. As for the green onion pancakes, it was so so. I've had better in other restaurants. Although the employees here were really nice and friendly. The prices of the food were a little more than I expected. read more

Everything came SO hott and steamy. The soup had so many flavors I've never had before! Very flavorful and the fish was perfectly cooked and great spice level (I even added more spice) The spicy lamb had jalapeños and cilantro and it was very taste with a side of white rice A side of veggies in any Chinese cuisine is a must! I got bok choy and they were very tasty I think they added garlic. The portions were HUGE for 2 people and I left full, happy, and satisfied. The staff is also super kind! I was helped by a young man and a lady, they had smiles on their face when I entered, which always makes me feel welcomed since I'm the only non Asian. My favorite Chinese restaurant in the area! We get takeout from here almost every week. Our favorite dishes are: Szechuan beef noodle soup, chili with fried tofu (our new fave), chili with chicken, and dry pot chicken. But we've tried their shrimp fried rice, all the eggplant dishes, and the tofu dishes as well, and they're all very tasty! The fried tofu dish on the menu says "tofu with chili sauce" in English, but it's actually fried tofu cubes with Szechuan seasoning. It is so flavorful and spicy,, definitely if you're not a spice lover be careful. It's like an elevated version of a boba store fried tofu snack. I've been told by the server that I'm one of the few people that orders this, so I just wanted to get the word out there. Service is quick, food is always made under 10-20 minutes depending on the dishes and how busy they are, they answer the phone quickly and are friendly. The interior is clean and bright, and parking is very easy in a spacious plaza. Overall very solid consistent restaurant that I keep going back to! read more

There is something about ordering Chinese food when the staff is all Chinese, speaks Chinese and their clientele is all Chinese. This authenticity often means their food is better and not overly Americanized. That hold true here. Yes, I did cop out and order egg rolls and Kung Pao chicken instead of some of the other dishes offered but I wanted to compare their version with others that I was familiar with. The food is quite good and the portions are very large. That made it difficult to make an affordable lunch as I was hit for $18 with no drink and I had a ton of leftovers. Regardless, my food was enjoyable and I was able to occupy their one small table on the sidewalk. I won't hesitate in coming back to be a bit more culinarily adventurous. read more
