Ordered Spicy Szechuan Crispy Chilli Chicken Mixed Beef Slices in hot Sauce Local Hunan Flavored Lamb And Szechuan Cold Noodles I always thought this place in the past was an offshoot of the Red Chilli Restaurant in Rancho Cucamonga / Upland by the 99 Ranch Supermarket, but I guess it deviates way far from both the Red Chilli Restaurants in Redlands and Upland from 8-15 years ago. I cant justify any of these dishes making me want to consume bowls upon bowls of rice. That's what spicy Szechuan and Hunan food is supposed to do....it should make you awaken your taste buds, with the power of their chilli peppers, Szechuan green & red peppercorns, and the umamis derived from MSG. Nope, I didn't crave the Lazi Chicken...nor the Hot Oil Beef Mix... Not the Cold Noodles, and I left with a $122 receipt in hand for 2 more takeout items on top of the 4 main dishes I've shared.....and I felt pretty empty. Empty in a sense, I could DO BETTER at home mixing my own Szechuan Cold Noodles, with Home Made Chili Oil, Sesame Paste, Sugar. Chicken Bullion, Minced Garlic, Vinegar, and Cilantro. The food was way too salty. We ordered the cumin lamb and the beef with Chinese parsley to go on a saturday evening. The cumin lamb was unexpectedly very spicy and didn't taste a lot like cumin. Not to mention that it was very very salty. The Chinese beef with parsley was also extremely salty, almost to a point of being inedible. Even when compared to instant ramen, the dishes were salty. Expected the food here to be spicier. The chili chicken had too much batter and it had a sweet taste to it which I didn't find appealing. Ok reception. Excited to try their Grandmas Pork Belly. Looks so good on their bussiness web site but disappointed when we got there. We were expecting sweet, a little tangy, a little salty with all the traditional Chinese herbs seasoning but it was just too much salt on the food. Same thing with the tofu. It got better when paired with rice and maybe that was the intention. Service not so great either. We were never checked and asked if there's anything more we needed. Very disappointed with our visit. My family and I came after shopping--we've been here multiple times before and always enjoyed the food, so we decided to have dinner. Unfortunately, this experience was completely different. After ordering our food, no one came by to ask if we wanted any beverages. Once we had already started eating, an older lady finally asked if we wanted hot tea. We said yes, but she never mentioned there would be an extra charge. When we finished eating, she offered us some home-grown persimmons to try. We assumed this was simply a kind gesture. However, when we received the bill, the hot tea was listed as $2.75, and the five persimmons were $6--and they were nearly spoiled. I could have bought fresh ones at the market for much less. To make things worse, they added a tip to the bill without our permission. If I hadn't checked the receipt carefully, I would have paid double the tip. The food I ordered last time was so good that I had to order them again, which were the kong pao beef, dry pot pork intestines and honey walnut shrimp. And yes, they are still as good as I remembered them. Both the beef and the pork intestines were spicy but flavors were still on point. And they give you so much of it, that it's definitely worth ordering again. The shrimp isn't spicy which is a nice break from all the chili oil and jalapeños. I also ordered their local flavor lamb which also came with a good amount of thinly sliced and shredded lamb. Tasted amazing!! As well as their sweet and sour deep fried fish. The sauce comes in a second container, which is great. Really prevents the fish from getting all soggy. It also went big on flavors. Lastly, I had my complimentary spicy beef noodle soup. Everything was packaged separately for transportation, which is great. It's definitely spicy for me. The large beef cubes were so soft and easily able to be cut thru with a spoon or fork. Overall the dishes were good. I had no complaints on taste and quality. I found everything dish seasoned well and each bite left me impressed. I like this restaurant more than other local Chinese restaurants because the cooking feels more representative of food you might see in mainland China. Also, the amount of food felt it was more than normal. Then again, I was pretty hungry when we arrived. The service was a bit slow since they seem to only had one person handling the floor. They had tomato and egg soup so I just requested no tomatoes or corn added because my teen didn't like tomatoes or corn. Our favorite dishes are: Szechuan beef noodle soup, chili with fried tofu (our new fave), chili with chicken, and dry pot chicken. This authenticity often means their food is better and not overly Americanized. That hold true here. Yes, I did cop out and order egg rolls and Kung Pao chicken instead of some of the other dishes offered but I wanted to compare their version with others that I was familiar with. The food is quite good and the portions are very large. That made it difficult to make an affordable lunch as I was hit for $18 with no drink and I had a ton of leftovers. We dined in and everything was served in to-go containers (actually convenient since we were planning on taking leftovers) with plastic utensils. If you're looking for ambiance or cute decor, you won't find it here. But you will find fantastic food with spice (and plenty of Szechuan peppercorn!) where it should be, and fast service. When a customer is waiting for her Togo food for an abnormally long time the least you can say is "sorry". I did not get any apologies or thank you for waiting.
