Szechuan Garden's lunch special is absolutely the best! You get a whole bowl of fried rice plus a full plate of an entree -- I usually go for the Kung Pao or Orange Chicken and it's sooo delicious. It even comes with soup and an egg roll! For just $11, it's ridiculously filling and such an amazing deal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tasty and satisfying lunch! read more

Ok. Ugggghh! My car broke down. Almost killed me. Or could have hurt someone else. Costly yes, But I'm alive! Now this place is a few yards from the Mech Shop.... And it's AWESOME. Montclair. Near the MetroLink, on Arrow Highway. I hit them kinda early but they did not disappoint. Triple Delight is Amazing and Huge. Jack the server was very on point. They have a Beer & Wine License. Doggie baggin here is not a problem, especially with the portions. Clean, dark, and looking fun. I will be back. Super Nice People, great place, delicious Food. A no brainer if you're in the area. read more

They have lunch special all day which is great to see in this economy lol. Dishes from lunch special came with complimentary soup & eggrolls. Salt & pepper pork was delicious and the seasoning reminded me of the Taiwanese popcorn chicken seasoning. Dandan noodles took a little bit longer to come out and was a little too salty with chowmein as the noodle type / tasted more like mala. Service was super friendly & inviting though- they did get busier towards noon on a Thursday lunch. read more

I walked in and it was empty along with a couple. I begin looking at the menu & a tall man with a mask on approaches me immediately. I ask if its self seated or do I wait to be seated. He ageessively took the menu from my hands and rudely asks how many? I say only me, & that was fucking rude and as I said that he threw the menu on the table and I immediately walk away. As soon as you walk in; it is dark and dead as the customer service. I'm sure the couple heard so I decided to have lunch at Ramen Ichirako instead! NEVER spending my money at this location. I hope you're proud that you were RUDE to a young mother who just had heart surgery 2 weeks ago!! read more

I honestly have no idea how this restaurant has such great reviews. My experience at Szechuwan Garden was extremely disappointing from the moment we walked in. The restaurant is located in a strip mall in Montclair, and the first thing I noticed was a strong sewage-like odor inside. There was also a large fan running, which made me wonder if they were trying to circulate or mask the smell. Whatever the reason, it was unpleasant and immediately made me question the cleanliness of the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't get any better. The sweet and sour soup had a very strange taste that I couldn't quite identify. The Lo Mein also tasted off, and the sweet and sour pork had an incredibly unnatural, bright-red color that looked almost like food coloring. It certainly didn't look appetizing. Then came the stomach issues afterward, which made the entire experience even worse. I obviously can't say for certain what caused the problem, but after eating here, I definitely did not feel well. The restaurant itself was also very dark and dingy, which, combined with the odor and the quality of the food we received, made me uncomfortable throughout the meal. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was bad enough that I feel other people should know what to expect. Based on my experience, I would not return and cannot recommend this restaurant. read more

I came here for lunch. They have a great deal for lunch specials. The food had good flavor. The only complaint was the shrimp was a misogyny instead of being crispy and I asked for no onions on o e of the dishes and it had a lot of green onions. The service was great! All the waiters worked together to get your food out quick, feel your drinks and clean your table. I was impressed. It's a small place with surprisingly lots of seating. They even have family tables with the rotating middle. read more

It took so long to be seated and served. Food is not to my expectation good. This is my first and last to eat there again!

We love Szechuwan Gardens! The food is amazing and the service is A+++++. Either to eat in or to go, the best!

Quality sit down Chinese food! Portions are large for the price, and the add on deluxe dinner is a great add on! The service at the location was top notch, with quick service at the door and table. Water refills were quick with little pressure to order quickly. Restaurant was not super busy, but was clean and inviting with the flavor of a Chinese food location... The wonton soup was flavorful, with the sweet and sour chicken hot and tasty. A+++ restaurant! Will be returning in the future! read more

Had dinner here several days ago, and arrived about 45 minutes prior to closing. Ordered a variety of dishes to share, including hot & sour soup, shrimp fried rice and shrimp with lobster sauce. Great tasting food at reasonable prices. Service was fast. Only downside is that the temperature inside the restaurant is quite warm despite there being a fan. read more

My friends and I dined at Szechuan Garden Last night. The food and service were first rate, as usual. I had the Chicken in Black Bean Sauce. It's my favorite dish there. I tend to lean towards the salty/spicy end of the spectrum (in other words, not sweet) at Chinese restaurants and this fits the bill perfectly. The only thing that would make it better is if there was some kung pao spiciness to it. There were six of us. Each of us ordered an entree and we all shared. We all chose to add the dinner combination to our entrees. For an additional $6.95, you get soup, fried rice or steamed rice, an egg roll, a fried wonton, and something called paper chicken (which is actually wrapped in foil and tastes kind of sausage like). Incidentally, for years, my go to Chinese restaurant was China Gate in nearby Upland. I had been going there since the mid '90s. Back in late 2018, I was stunned to learn that they had closed after nearly 40 years in business. Oh no! What was I going to do now? Thankfully, someone dropped the name Szechuan Garden on the Yelp page for China Gate. I was intrigued. I had to try the place. I'm glad that I did. The food is good and the prices are quite reasonable. The ambiance less industrial and perhaps a touch more "cozy" than a lot of restaurants nowadays. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience. If you like Chinese food, do yourself a favor and give Szechuan Garden a try. read more

It's been awhile since I've been here. Today the service was not their usual. We were a party of 7. The place was not too busy. We came on a Friday during lunch. We got the lunch special which is a very good deal. You get a large portion with soup and rice. I liked their eggplant, triple delight and lemon chicken. read more

I love this little gem in the rough! The food is always excellent and the service is always on point, but the best part about this establishment is the value. Chinese food, as always, is the best value option giving the best blend between quantity and quality. Szechuwan Garden ups the game and delivers sit-down quality food in the quantities usually associated with hole-in-the-wall take out joints. Talk about getting the best of both worlds! Take, for example, the shrimp in lobster sauce. The dinner portion had over 20 large shrimp?!? The sauce is so light yet packed with savory umami flavor It's irrelevant that there isn't any "lobster" in it. The shrimp are cooked perfectly with not a hint of rubberiness or fishiness. Just succulent, sweet, juicy, freshness...times 20. How about the Mongolian beef? The chewiness of beef is usually inversely proportional to its price. Szechuwan Garden defies the laws of nature in this regard. Soft succulent beef slices in a rich, smoky, brown sauce full of wok hei. The best part though is the take out container was overflowing. I easily got enough food for two full meals for two people for less than $50. That's $12.50 per person per meal. I know PF Chang's had an appetizer for less...back in 2005. Haha! read more

Came in for dinner again and as usual food is great! Service is good too. Super home in the wall that's a must try. Still has a great value too! We got wonton soup but no pic. read more

This is our favorite local Chinese food place. It's slightly pricier than but worth it. Everything we've ordered has been full of delicious flavors, a party of flavors in every bite. We've tried several dishes but this past visit we had the tangerine spicy chicken, black mushroom beef, and vegetable lomein and loved it all. They don't skim on the vegetables and although it's pricier, we always have left overs for a second or third full serving. It's absolutely delicious. We always order for pick up so I can't comment on the seated service but I can say that the restaurant itself has plenty of booth and table seating. It has low lighting and almost always has a few families dinning in, many of which appear to possibly be Chinese. When I visit a restaurant that serves ethnic foods from a culture different than my own, I always think it's a good sign when customers from the same culture are dining since they truly know how it should taste. read more

Szechuwan Garden - Spicy Honey Chicken - Chinese Near Me - Montclair, California

This is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the inland empire! Its a small restaurant esconsed in a mini mall, so it's easy to drive by and miss this hidden gem The prices are insane, 11.99 for a cup of soup, egg roll, rice and your entree of choice! I took my BF and he was super hungry, he wanted to order the whole menu, I told him just get a regular entree and it will be more than enough; he left full and with left overs to boot. read more

Pretty disappointing and over-priced honestly. Ordered multiple entrees and appetizers but the only thing that was actually good was the honey walnut shrimp. Most of the food was either over-sauced, too dry, or just not good in general. The vegan dish seemed like it was either not fresh or made way earlier in the day because it wasn't even mildly warm compared to the other dishes. First and last time going there for sure. read more

I am just updating my review but still keeping it at four stars. I ordered the Mao braised pork belly for the first time and it was too dry and chewy so I won't be ordering it again. The walnut shrimp was delicious as usual. read more

Great food and service and delivery . Repeat customers . Always order take out when company is over for delicious options and service

Was here 10 days ago and just had to come back! lol This visit, we tried two different dishes. Moo shu with shrimp- "Chinese burritos" four pancakes filled with sautéed shrimp, stir fried cabbage, and scrambled eggs with a side of a hoisin based sauce. We also ordered the vegan kung pao chicken- stir fried meat substitute/vegan chicken with green bell peppers, water chestnuts, white onion, and red chilis in kung pao sauce. The moo shu with shrimp was good but I wish the pancake was a little softer. The vegan kung pao chicken was amazing! (Even my meat loving sister enjoyed it) Service was still on the slow side but we didn't mind. Our server was friendly and attentive, he even managed to pack up our leftovers while still attending to all the other guests. Will definitely be back to try other dishes. Highly recommend! read more

Everything we ordered was delicious. I look forward to the time we are in the area again to try some more dishes. This is an older place but clean. Service is just OK, but the food makes up for it. The soup was delicious, nice and hot. Nothing like a good bowl of soup. Portions are good and we were able to have leftovers the next day. Will definitely return. read more
