Again, everything is made fresh so they came out steaming hot. Next I tried the Beef Roll, which was listed as a Chef Recommendation ($12.95). It was thinly sliced beef with cilantro, mushrooms, and green onions in a scallion pancake. Very good, but could have used a sauce. The standout meal was the Dry Noodles with ground pork, another Chef Special. The noodles came out chilled with cucumber, seaweed, a fried egg, and sesame sauce. This little hole on the wall kinda Chinese restaurant has remained open for takeout service only. I keep going back to get their cold dishes and Liang Pi. They have good selection of cold dishes that you can get 3 mixed combinations. My favorite has been their chicken feet, potato shred and beef slices. Another good dish that I recommend is their sour pickled vegetables with sliced pork belly stew. It's a traditional Northern China dish that people like to enjoy during the colder days. read more

This place is a little gem of a place with fresh-made noodles that have that great chewy texture. They also offer hand-made dumplings. I had the Spicy Pork Dry Noodle and my husband had the Seafood Noodle Soup. Both dishes were so yummy! The service is excellent. They took our order right away and continued to check on us to make sure our water glasses were filled and that we didn't need anything else. We are certainly going to come again and again. This is a cute hole in the was attached to the 99 ranch. I've been to the store many times over the years and never noticed this little treasure! I had the Thai tea, wanton in spicy sauce, steam pork bun, and the lamb skewers. The Thai tea was ok, the wontons and pork buns were so juicy and flavorful! I didn't have to add any sauce with them they were delicious on their own. And the lamb was perfectly cooked and didn't have a strong taste to it like I'm use to so that was great. Lotus cafe is a solid eat. I had ordered the spicy wonton sauce, cabbage and pork pot and chicken chow mein. The food was made to order and took around 25 minutes to make the food in the meantime it was nice to walk around 99 ranch. The spicy wonton sauce was spicy and savory. The wontons itself are just average but the sauce is what made it. It was so good that my Friend accidentally slurped some like soup. The sauce is fire. The chicken and chow mein was good as well. It was no dry and it was a generous portion. There was a good ratio of veggies and noodles. The chicken was nice and savory. The cabbage and pork pot was the best dish that we ordered. The broth was savory. The cabbage was soft and cooked to perfection. The pork fell right off the bone and was so yummy. The combination of all three made for a good solid meal. Good eats in this little cafe situated inside of 99 Ranch Market. The lady who's always there (owner/manager/server?) is the friendliest and we're happy to see here when we eat here. We've enjoyed all of the dishes here, from the beef rolls and pan fried dumplings to the beef noodle soup and the pork "burger." Flavors aren't as robust as they are in similar restaurants in the 626 area code; everything is good, but not spectacular. If this place was in the San Gabriel Valley, it'd be lost in a sea of better restaurants, but seeing how limited the selection is in Rancho Cucamonga, I'm a fan of any place that serves decent Chinese food. read more

First time to try their food. I was walking by didn't know it was there connecting with 99ranch. I tried spicy wonton and boba milk tea. Both taste so great. I can tell that their wonton are fresh not frozen type. Also their milk tea is absolutely surprised me because it was better than I expected their boba cook perfect. This little hole in the wall is a northern Chinese restaurant that specializes in traditional Beijing style dishes. Their Kung Pow Chicken may very well be the best one we've have ever had in California. However, the rest of the dishes we ordered were a little underwhelming. The Beef Roll lacked in moisture and flavor, the Beef Noodle Soup was mediocre, and the Green Beans was rather mushy, when it's supposed to have a crunch. All in all, just an okay experience food-wise, but for a Chinese restaurant in the Inland Empire, I'd say it's pretty decent. Not unlike what one gets in Szechuan itself, Chengdu in particular. We've gone twice & both times it was fresh & full of flavor. Very authentic too, not Westernized by any means. If you're seeking Orange Chicken or General Tao's, this is not your place. Real Szechuan? The new Lotus is up with the best. Literally the only 'complaint' we had about Lotus was a near total lack of vegetarian dishes. There's really not enough variety for vegetarians, it's quite meaty. The vegetable dumplings are probably the best we've ever had & the soups were as good as it gets. But very hard to avoid meat. Vegetarians should go to Red Chilies. It sits near the end of a mall where Min's Dumplings & Red Chilies resides. It easily trounces anything from Min's which tends to be bland & appealing to people who really don't love authentic Chinese food. Next door, Red Chilies paradoxically is probably the finest Chinese of any kind for many, many miles. As long as I've lived here, some 6 years now, I've watched competition for Red Chilies come & go but they remain. BUT in it's own way, the new Lotus is just as good. If you love authentic Chinese food (if you like Panda Express, you'll hate this wonderful place!), Lotus is a true contender for the best. read more

It's great to find good Chinese food in Rancho Cucamonga! This is a mom-and-pop-type restaurant where we are always welcomed with a friendly greeting. The place is attached to the east side of Ranch 99 Market, but it does have its own entrance from the parking lot. On this visit with the family, we ordered 2 orders of beef rolls, along with Kung Pao Chicken, and white rice. This was enough for the 4 of us and we even had a plate of beef rolls left over when dinner was done. Both the beef rolls and Kung Pao Chicken were flavorful. The chicken had just enough spiciness to it without making your mouth feel as it if is on fire. We will definitely be back to try more of their dishes! read more

Great restaurant serving Norther Chinese food and without the after MSG buzz. The owner is always there greeting us with a smile and is very attentive. She takes the time to answer all of our question in English. The place kept is very clean. They serve all of the traditional Chinese dishes like noodle dishes, fried rice dishes, stir fried dishes that all accommodate a western taste but in a very authentic style. The flowing are my "go-to" dishes here. The beef noddle soup is one of the tastiest I've tried in China or the USA. The both is not too salty, the noodles have great texture, and the thin sliced beef is tender. I always order this one. The beef wraps are great. Loaded with thin sliced beef and green onion. Just add a little spicy sauce and you are good to go. Think Chinese beef burrito! They also serve cold dishes like the thin sliced pig ears that are marinated in spicy peppercorn and cilantro. And in the same marinate they serve beef tendon. These two are soooo good. The texture of both of these is like that of Gummy Bears. Savory and spicy they are a great accompaniment to the rest of their menu. Every time I return I discover something new that I really like. I am a fan!! read more

This is my first time eating here at Lotus Cafe. This place is located inside 99 Ranch Market. As soon as I walked in I was greeted. When I was was looking over the menu I didn't see Kung Pao Chicken but I saw a lot of reviews on their Kung Pao Chicken so I asked if they had Kung Pao Chicken and they said yes I guess it's one of their secret menu items. It took like 10 minutes to get my food and once I took the first bite I was really impressed with the flavor. The best Kung Pao Chicken In Rancho Cucamonga I've ever had so far. This place has changed it's menu & owner; What A BIG Disappointment. The restaurant now serving food style from Northern China to Shanghainese without changing it's name. The rating is "C" like other fellow yelper posted; possible it was from the previous operation. Obviously they do not know how to cook Shanghainese style food. Don't get me wrong, the service was good but food was not edible. Dishes were too salty or under-cooked. Most of the food on their menu are not even closed to authentic Shanghainese food. Worst of all, we heard their workers talking in the kitchen and using unpleasant cuss words in Shanghainese, ask us how we know? We lived in Shanghai for over 25 years and we know exactly that they're talking about their paying customers; a bad business practice. read more

It is located inside 99ranch market, and the food took a while to came out. It isn't a typical chinese food place, if i have to put it simple( more like a home cooking ) which is nice. Not too salty and portion isnt too much either. It was a bice and enjoyable meal, but if you are expecting alot of decoration on your food before dig in, this is not the place to go. Overall this place and their food is delicious. However for a family of 3 their portions are a lot smaller and seem to be getting smaller each time we come. The issue with selling your business to your patrons based on portions and quality is that once any change so does your clientele. I told Veronica about the portions and she said she would talk to the chef but she did not and said "maybe next time" No maybe not. I am sorry but we will be looking for another place to eat Chinese in rancho. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Good food but we would need to order a lot to have enough between us. O saw the reviews and was looking forward to the authentic Asian food. What a surprise in the bad way. We ordered shrimp fried rice... bad, bad, bad. Frozen shrimp and frozen corn added to it. Tasteless. We also ordered the sweet and sour fish... worse, worse, worse. The sauce taste from a bottle and it was waaaay too much on the fish which taste frozen and thawed and then fried. Tasteless. Then we come to The Kung Pao Chicken which had approx 10 tablespoons of oil in an 8 oz. portion. Horrible! Great place for some rustic Chinese food. Located inside of 99 Ranch, they can be found at the far left of the building when facing the market. To the review... Ambience: I don't know if you would ever take a date here. It's more of a fast casual type environment, but you order and receive your food similar to a traditional restaurant. It's your basic mom n pop place. They aren't going to win any awards for decor or anything like that, but it's clean, doesn't smell like reused cooking oil like some other Chinese places, and it's not pretentious. Service: Every time I've been here, there's only been one person taking orders and serving, the owner Veronica. Very nice lady. She answered any questions I had and even though I've only ordered to-go, she always offers me water and seasoned peanuts while I wait. Food: Originally, their menu appear to cater to more "experienced" Chinese food palate's, but after a few months they have adapted and added a few western Chinese dishes as well. Everything I've eaten here has been good. From the kung pao, braised pork belly, and even some of the newer items like chicken with spicy salt or honey walnut shrimp. The best thing we like about this spot is the food tastes cleaner and you don't feel weighted down like some other Chinese food spots. One thing I don't like is they don't give rice on to-go orders. You're an asian restaurant! Rice is a given! Hence, the knock of a star. I take my rice game very seriously. Lol! Price: Comparable to other Chinese spots, maybe even tad cheaper. By the looked of it, probably had no taste) plus they used a canned luncheon meat instead of bbq pork like how it should be?! For $8.08, I can do better at home. Odd thing is when they were making our fried rice the cook gets rice out from the rice cooker and smells the rice like something is wrong. The waitress is always kind and offers suggestions, and even remembers our food/drink preferences from previous visits. The food is consistently great, and the portions are shareable, too! This is probably as authentic as it gets. I can taste food made by Chinese cooks in the kitchen, not Mexicans. Every time I come back to my family, I stop by to get to-go food. The lady is always friendly. This time I bought more than $30 worth of food and was told that I get a whole chicken free to pick up on Xmas day. I was disappointed to find that it was half a chicken. My daughter can usually finish a bowl of good beef noodle soup but she stopped half way because it didn't like it. Friend's daughter didn't want to eat the shrimp in the shrimp fry rice because they taste like rubber ~~~ Hot & spicy fish filet isn't hot nor spicy, not the authentic Sichuan style. Beef roll is OK, agreed with 3/5 star as other reviewer. The Chinese burger was OK too, according to my friend who ate it. Braised port in brown sauce is 2/5, pork is not soft enough and way too much "brown sauce". Worst of all, steam rice is not white, brownish like they never wash the rice before cooking. We were disappointed to find that this restaurant now serves mostly dumplings and hot clay pot or what they call hot pot dishes but we would call stew. They also have fried rice and chow mein. We came here hungry for lunch, and glad we did, because the food was great. The garlic green beans were totally delicious! I enjoyed each dish that we had, even the hot tea. Everything is ordered "a la carte" with no lunch or dinner combinations (which I don't like). The rice is .80 cents extra (which I don't like). Plain rice should always be included. Fried rice should be extra, of course. Strange that it's located in a grocery store - but kind of separate and off to the side. Lotus Cafe is an absolute gem! The food is delicious, prices affordable, and the service is the best in the area. First off, the food: Their fish and tofu In hot sauce is as good as red chili house, and less oily. The menu is a bit smaller but that's no matter, there are still plenty of great dishes. Another favorite of mine is the lamb with cumin. Yum! Lots of meat, fresh veggies: fantastic. Other solid dishes include the tofu and minced pork (a milder ma po tofu style dish) and their special sautéed chicken (crispy, spicy, savory, and sweet)! All of the above dishes are between $7.95-8.95, with portions plenty large enough for the price. What really gives lotus cafe an edge is the service. The woman who works there really makes it feel like home. Even when I come in for take-out, she graciously offers me a seat and serves me some water. The whole staff is equally as accommodating. They are easy to miss in the corner of Ranch 99, but an absolute much try.
