After a long day of shopping with my best friend in the CYFair area we were famished and longed for something hearty to eat. At the driving by Mr. Pho, we made a quick u-turn and pulled up only to see their closing hours and had 20 minutes to spare. Like any great restaurant management, we were quickly greeted, shown to a clean table, and were handed menus. The owner himself gave some suggestions and immediately had us hooked with his humor, genuine interest of our love for pho, and his knowledge and passion for pho. Little did we know, he was MR. Pho in the flesh!!!!! After recommending an order for egg and spring rolls, bon bu hue, and brisket & meatball pho, we anxiously waited for the ultimate satisfaction of our hunger. Food arrived in typical quick fashion...fresh spring rolls, hot off the frier egg rolls, two steaming bowls of broth. Mr. Pho recommended to taste the broth before consuming anything else. We happily obliged and boy were we glad we did! The smooth taste of clean broth, free of fat, & over salting made us want to slurrrrpppp the bowl! The right ratio of pho/noodles and broth filled the bowl. We are in silence while Mr. Pho shared stories and kept us entertained and occupied. Despite the 20 min to closing, this family run restaurant assured that we were well watered and fed. Seems like this spot in particular always change name/ownership. It is located in the plaza across from HK4. Stopped by because I'm a pho lover myself & consider myself pretty much Viet when it comes to eating even though my blood is dripped in Chinese pride. Food : 3/5 Pho broth is not bad, but not great either comparing to all of the other competitions down on the same road Bellaire. They also have the Chicken rice plate which is supposed to be pretty popular also. Previous establishment made this dish really well when I first tried, I might consider trying it from here if i decide to stop by again. Hmm..they stopped selling Flan! I've been trying out bun bo hue at different places in Chinatown and tried Mr. Pho because I heard their bun bo hue is great. Unfortunately, it wasn't my personal favorite: while the broth was good, the noodles were slimy, and the beef was too tough--in fact, I didn't get to eat any beef from my bowl because I literally couldn't bite off any of the beef. But our server was very nice and did a great job. Note that they have a $20 minimum for credit card transactions, which basically means you need cash if you don't have a big group. read more

This is a must stop for me every time I'm in town. I've tried just about everything on their menu! Their pho is amazing, the broth is extremely flavorful. The egg rolls and spring rolls are a must order. The peanut sauce is the best I've ever had. The veggies on the sandwiches are always fresh & the house fried rice is so good. We love ending our meal with a Vietnamese coffee (yum!). The owners are so sweet & the service is always great, even when it is busy. The restaurant is very clean and the bathrooms are always fresh. I should've written this review earlier... this place has coffee that is out of this country! (Literally) and the broth to the pho, so tasty and flavorful that you don't need to load up on the hoisin sauce, lime and sriracha! We were greeted and helped immediately as soon as we walked in the door- not common in Chinatown. Super friendly staff, good food... expanding menu. You must check it out if you're looking for a good bowl of pho. Don't forget to try their Vietnamese coffee. If you don't want pho, at least go and try out their coffee. read more

First off... Kenny. He is one of the owners who made us feel like we were coming over to my family's house for lunch. Kenny and his staff made us feel at home. They genuinely wanted to ensure we were happy. Very rare in any asian establishment on Bellaire. My husband and Son had the pho in which they DEVOURED! The broth was flavorful and aromatic. I had their chicken with rice. Chicken was cooked to perfection! Moist and the skin was crispy! Yum! I ate all the meat to the bone. The only reason there was rice left is because I am on a diet (trying to cut down on my carbs lol) Cafe sua da was ON POINT! MUST TRY! and the Rau Ma was very refreshing!! I highly recommend! This place has some wonderful dishes! Pho is great, very tasteful and has some northern Vietnamese characteristics! We fortunate to try the yellow noodle soup (Mì xá xíu) which far superior compared to other traditional places! Not to mention the drink we got is really good and refreshments, love the "Nớc Tắc" (Kumquat tropical drink)! The restaurant very clean of course the owner greeting you and very delight to serve the customers, that's a plus ! Overall it a very pleasant experience and we def will come back! read more

This has been our go-to pho place since we moved to the area a year ago. Today everything was off. We ordered 3 dishes to go. Got home and found that our spring rolls were filled with browning lettuce. The peanut sauce was rancid to the point of bubbling when stirred. Then I found a live bug on one of the basil leaves (the kind found on unwashed produce). My husband called to warn them about the sauce in particular. They hung up on him three times. So.... I've been going here since they open, however my last trip was a couple of days ago. I always order the the combo pho/spring roll. Well this time the shrimp tasted old (really bad) I went to complain about it and was told I was going to have to pay for it. Not a sorry, didn't take it off the bill. Came in with my friend today for lunch. I had seen the good reviews and wanted to try a new place out. We both love bun bo hue so we both had to order it! The place is very clean and the staff is very attentive. I can definitely tell that the owner takes pride in his new shop. He pays attention to detail and is curious for feedback. Service here is top-noche! If you've eaten on bellaire long enough you know most asian restaurants don't offer good customer service so I really appreciate and love supporting restaurants that are attentive to their customers. The bun bo hue was very solid. Noodles were thick and meat was cut thinly (some places have chunky meat which comes out too chewy) so I really liked that. Soup was nice and flavorful. Very different flavour in my opinion and very different from other restaurants in Houston like Bun Bo Hue Duc Chuong or Kim Chau. The soup is on the sweeter side- not that theres anything wrong with that. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area! Next time I come in, I will definitely try the pho. read more

Today was my first time to try Mr. Pho and I was blow away!! First off the owner was very very nice and genuine which is hard to find these days! He took my to go order and brought me a water and an egg roll while I waited. The egg roll was awesome so I was super excited to try the rest of my food. I usually am skeptical with to go food, but the Pho did not disappoint! The owner told me how to prepare it and I followed his exact instructions. After having major oral surgery, I was searching for soups/only liquid. I reached out online to the Cypress Foodie page and many people suggested Mr. Pho's beef broth, I called explaining what I was needing and why I can only eat liquids. Told them my son would be picking it up. To my surprise, they gave my son a large container of the broth for free....AND ITS FABULOUS!!! I'm actually drinking it from a cup it's so tasty. What amazing customer service and great amazing flavor!! No wonder so many people recommended Mr. Pho. Family of pho lovers and sad to say this is not the place. No wonder our neighbors and friends say not to go here. You ask for extra of something and they give push back or say it's in the bag. No we are asking for extra basil or limes bc sometimes you get 1 or a ton. You ask for extra cilantro, "it's in the bag" when it is not what comes with their bags there of fresh herbs and they give you a little container that stinks bc it's old when you open it. Idk what has happened over the last year and a half but Feb, Mar and April trying to give it one more chance of this year has been horrible. Sad to say. I've been eating pho all over Houston for nearly 30 years. This is certainly the best pho in Cypress and ranks up there among the best in all of Houston. The staff are also super nice people. Very nice staff. Didn't expect to be served Lipton for hot tea at a pho spot but the pho was very good and the egg rolls were tasty. I've had the brisket and meatballs which I thought the brisket had way to much fat on it but the next time I tried the pho ga (chicken) and it hit the spot. I really wish they would serve hot green tea or a jasmine tea in an actual mug. Little things will keep customers returning. I'm glad there is a pho place in the area. read more

Wow wow wow. I have no idea how this spot has 4.5 stars and why I keep trying it hoping that it gets better. Its probably because I truly love beef pho - I have it every Sunday down in Bellaire - and I hope that I could find a pho spot near work. BUT THIS ISNT IT. The pho from Mr Pho is the type that makes you HATE all other Phos. Its so so so bad. For some reason it smelled like a pepperoni hotpocket and even tasted like one, but with 10000% the salt. Like wow, I am offended. I was even more mad to find to pay $14 for a small bowl, a 12oz can of soda and one egg roll! Like what a jip.
