Inside of a shrimp spring roll
Lizeth S.

I came here on a mission for the ultimate Bò Kho (Vietnamese beef stew), but sadly, the search continues. The broth was very clear and greasy, nowhere as thick as you would expect it to be. I was especially disappointed that there were no carrots, that's kind of the heart and soul of a proper Bò Kho, and their absence was noticeable. The beef itself wasn't tender, and I found myself working harder than I should just to chew through it. On the positive side, I could taste the lemongrass, which gave the dish some brightness. But overall, the stew didn't deliver the rich, hearty comfort that makes Bò Kho so special. I also tried the shrimp spring rolls, and honestly, they didn't impress either. There was zero crunch factor, just shrimp, slimy lettuce, and vermicelli noodles. No cilantro, mint, carrots, or bean sprouts to give it that fresh, crisp bite. When I opened it up to investigate, the lettuce was visibly slimy, which explained a lot. Those ended up in the trash immediately lol

I'm no doctor, but it's my firm belief that a banh mi a day keeps the doctor away. Do with that what you will. I arrived at Mr.Pho expecting a fast casual spot, so I was surprised at the invitation to sit down. Once seated service was slow. After making eye contact more than a few times with the waitress...well...they were not the friendliest. It's very possible that I had a one off experience, but my waitress was very to the point, and delivered everything to my table without eye contact, turning their back to me when I said thank you. It was a bit uncomfortable. When the second waitress passed, I assumed they'd check in on how my meal was going, nope, she passed without acknowledging my existence to water the plants. To their credit, my waitress did ask how the meal was when I asked for the bill. Service aside, all is forgiven with great food right? The offering I tried were good, not great. The salt coffee was delicious but heavy on the ice. The chicken banh mi was sizable, flavorful, and balanced but the quality of the chicken was not my favorite. I found myself placing grissel in a napkin. Overall, the meal was not bad, and certainly a win for the offerings on this side of town. I'll likely drop in again, but I feel more inclined to order my meal to-go, atleast until I better understand the etiquette for this spot!

I like going here after walking at the Houston outlets. Always a filling meal at Mr. Pho! Pho noodles to meat ratio is good and spring rolls are always nicely wrapped. The mini waffles as dessert is super comfort-food level too. Would recommend trying out when you're in the area! Service is always fast and consistent. Restaurant itself is very clean.

The place was nice and quiet. Staff was nice, we had to ask for utensils since none was delivered even after we got our food. The pho was decent. My friend said broth was nice but their banh mi filling was under-filled. The viet coffee is good and strong.

"Lemongrass"

On today's episode of BOUJEE or BOOTY: You guys, never in my life have I been gaslighted this much. First off, when we walked in, the restaurant was EMPTY and we should've known but my sister tried this place out and it was good so she was excited to show me. The waitress is clueless. She spoke both Vietnamese and English and we spoke to her in both, not sure what else we could've done to communicate with her. Still got our order wrong then tried to tell us that's what we ordered. Yeah ok. Then the food comes out and my sister finds a white hair in her banh mi sandwich. We called the waitress to let her know and she immediately called over the "owner." As soon as I open my mouth to tell her, she immediately cuts me off and says it's lemongrass. I'm like.... Ok but can I finish my sentence?? She then proceeds to gaslight me into thinking I don't know what I'm talking about. And that's what's crazy to me!! Like a simple sorry would've been fine. My dad is a chef and we deal with these things all the time. I wasn't looking for a freebie or anything, we usually just notify the waiter so they can communicate to the kitchen to be more careful. Regardless if it was a hair or a lemongrass stem, idc, it was the fact that she was so rude about it that got me. But anyway, ambiance sucks, service sucks, food dirty, and a waste of my time and energy. Attached is the picture of the "lemongrass." (Btw, she attempted to bring out some lemongrass to show us and it looked NOTHING like this "lemongrass"/hair that we found in our food. Final verdict: BOOTY with a side of gaslighting

Big portions, especially for the price! Service was super quick; food came out within 5 minutes of ordering. Broth was flavorful, and meat was very tender. Noodles were okay; could have been cooked a tiny bit longer. Would recommend!

After a lot of back and forth my partner and I finally agreed on Le Emperor. Confined to the house, we were limited to placing an order for takeout or delivery. While I didn't voice my opinion at the time, I was concerned that the takeout experience would put a damper on the meal. I was wrong. The mango salad is now a new favorite of mine, and a dish I strongly suggest ordering. The flavors are bright, and acidic, sweet, yet savory. The dish hits all of the right notes. My husband ordered the vermicelli. It was his first experience with vermicelli and to my surprise he tackled most of the dish without adding the accompanying sauce. My salmon was equally satisfying. While we were sad to see the former business go, we're so happy to find Le Emperor a fitting replacement. We will be back!

Went back today after many months and the food was super bland. Even the char grilled pork in the spring rolls was bland and also not as meaty as I remember. I didn't have time for a large pho so I asked for a small, which in my defense most restaurants have. Welp, not this one. Apparently, it's only large or Kids portion. Needless to say, my long anticipated dinner was unsatisfactory. The only thing that was as good as I remembered, the creme brûlée!! The service as always is so pleasant, they are always so friendly and kind. The environment as always quiet and welcoming with a touch of class.

I simply Googled Pho restaurants because I find giant bowls of soup to be quite comforting. This was on a random Sunday afternoon. Well, I just happened to be here in Cypress, Texas about 25 miles away from Houston and kaboom! Pho Bo 2 was located right off Highway 290 in a giant shopping plaza. From the outside appearance Pho Bo 2 looked pretty modern. I had a good feeling that I would enjoy the food here. Upon entering, there were plenty of tables and chairs featured and best of all they were open for dine-in during this pandemic! It wasn't too crowded which I actually liked so this way I could get served quickly (though most Pho places have fast service regardless) because I was hungry! Pho Bo 2 had all your typical food, appetizers, rice, plates and of course Pho soups...lol, the only reason why I ever come for Vietnamese. They offered 40 different Noodle Soups along two pages of the menu. What stood out to me and which I've had success with in the past is Pho soup including egg noodles, pork, shrimp and my new favorite item...quail eggs. I went with Soup #37...the Hu Tieu Mi...which combined rice and egg noodles with quail eggs, shrimp and pork...and for $8.95...an absolute bargain! I also got hot tea which I believe they charged an extra $1. With tax and tip the meal cost $15. Within 5 minutes or so, the soup came out. It appeared really colorful looking with a nice brown broth to it. I also noticed large pieces of pork, shrimp, quail eggs and little green scallions which I'm a fan of. And of course buried underneath the soup were the rice and egg noodles. From my first impression, I was excited with what I received. This #37 was very good. The broth was tasty and the pork was generally lean and not too fatty. I was disappointed with the shrimp. I believe there were only 2 shrimps in the soup and they weren't deveined. Grrr...why wouldn't they take a little time to devein the shrimp? This made me feel like they weren't fully cleaned. Ah, okay so the shrimp let me down. Still, for the occasion and for desiring Pho...the soup was definitely satisfying. Although they only offer 1 size for all their soups, I was actually left yearning for a little more after I devoured the bowl. Maybe I could have found a quick appetizer to start with. Finally, for spontaneously coming across this place on my Google Maps while driving...Pho Bo 2 was a general success. If I happened to be living in Cypress, I would return here. I felt like they were reliable and good enough in terms of quality with their Pho soup. My overall experience was a positive one.

At first I thought it would come w/ rice since I ordered a shrimp dish that would come w/ it last time I came around their soft/grand opening shortly before covid hit, but I had to ask the waiter for extra rice since there weren't any when he brought the wings out. Supposedly they'll charge you for an extra bowl of rice and I don't think that was the case though. I also ordered a jasmine milk tea w/ matcha boba and it tasted less flowery which is good for my liking and I didn't even taste any matcha flavor to the matcha boba that was like crystal boba though. Something I noticed inside was that whenever other customers left after dining in, the waiter didn't clear and clean the tables right away and I understand if he was busy though. I'm thinking it was bc there weren't alot of customers when we came in and he was probably gonna wait until more people would come in later. But overall most of their food is great and hopefully I'll be here eventually to try some of their other foods. :)
