"Fine in a Pinch, Forgettable Overall!" 08-05-2025 I stopped in here during my lunch break during PD (Professional Development) week, my first week back at the high school where I work. The place was packed. Space was tight, with barely any elbow room between customers standing and seated, and the line to order was long. While waiting, I scanned the menu for a salad I'd enjoy, but honestly, their salad options were pretty limited and not very appealing. I ended up going with the Southwest Cobb Salad. It was... okay. Edible enough to satisfy my hunger, but definitely nothing memorable. I don't always use dressing, but I tried theirs and it was decent, tasty enough, though I can't even remember which one it was. That kind of sums up the salad: forgettable. The atmosphere during the lunch rush (11 AM-12 PM) was loud, busy, and a little overwhelming. Maybe it calms down later in the afternoon, but being in a packed shopping center right off Highway 290, traffic and parking are already hectic. Honestly, even walking to and from your car feels a little risky with how heavy the traffic flow is. Food Notes: Southwest Cobb Salad - 3/5: Mediocre at best. The black "crispy" tortilla strips weren't crunchy at all, actually stale. Big disappointment. I've had much better salads elsewhere. If you're in the area and absolutely can't find another deli or salad spot, this place is fine in a pinch. You won't hate it, but you probably won't love it either. Given the number of surrounding restaurants that offer more variety (and better flavor), I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend this one. Final rating: 3/5 stars. Very middle of the road. My partner took me here for lunch. I'd never been before. I got a sandwich and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. That wasn't chicken tortilla soup by a long shot. For one, very little chicken. Secondly, there were green peas in there. No corn. Third, cream had been added. And the worst thing? Thick corn CHIPS like you dip in salsa, instead of the thin tortilla strips that give the soup its name. Overly spiced with powdered seasonings, not with the proper peppers infusing their flavor and heat through the cooking process. I will not be going again. Price is higher then a burger place but fresh, healthier food is always gonna cost a little more. It was my first time eating here in over 6 years and I got the free entree for signing up for the app well if got this lovely salad with black olives it was delicious. Then I got the steamed broccoli mainly because y'all charge a service fee and my military card will lock because they think it's fraud. Y'all may wanna stop charging us a service charge on free food. Gotta give love to McAlister's! Not sure why the stars are middle of the line, I definitely think it deserves to be better than what is represented. For value, service, taste/type of food, app rewards, and the sweet tea...I give it a 5. I typically order to go, but this time we elected to eat in. Our orders were taken at the front counter by a very nice employee, quick and painless transaction. Don't forget to use the app for rewards! You can build up points really fast and more often than not, they give away a free surprise drink or dessert. This visit I got the jalapeño Turkey crunch...first time having it, it was excellent!! Wonderful customer service! My wife and I are on our way out of Houston and needed something to eat and hot water for a bottle for our hungry hungry hungry 11 month old baby boy. I asked if they could somehow get hot water for me and they so willingly went out of their way to help me. They had a line of people ordering and still managed to help them while someone heated up my sons water for his bottle. Thank you so much to the female manager on duty for helping us comfort our son! Disappointing is they key word about this visit. I ordered online and didnt have that many substitutions from the typical entree (i.e. change the bread, remove mayo, add mustard. Didnt think I would have issues. Order was waiting for me on the shelf (Based on my last name) as promised through my order confirmation email. I was estatic to try their loaded baked potato, but my excitement was squashed when I saw that the pretzel bread I ordered was not only a wrap but a wheat wrap. I waited for the cashier to come back to the counter and explained my disatisfaction. First thing she says is--we dont have pretzel bread. One of the other employees walks by and says " Ooooh that would be good!" Well yeah, but no one informed me with a phone call or sent an email stating the exception until I took the time to look at my order and saw the flaw. Im guessing that they felt someone who made an online order wouldnt have time to check their order--Ha Ha!! Not this customer. The cashier offered to remake the sandwich, but I asked how long it would take because I was about to sit around 30 minutes (which was the window give. for my onlin order) for it to be remade. I even stated I wouod just take the bread and put the sandwich together on my own since I saw a line was forming to order. She promised me 5 minutes. I agreed, but asked for a cup of water while I waited. I should have checked the baked potato throughly. I didnt see the sour cream on top of the potato, but I figured it was seperate with the butter containers. It wasnt until I was home that I saw that I had no sour cream in my bag and none inside the potato. Kind of a bummer. Whats a baked potato without sour cream?! Ive even ate plain greek yogurt in place of sour cream and was satisfied, but NONE at all?! Just was an okay baked potato. On top of that, it was overcooked. I really would have filled out a receipt survey about this visit, but the receipt attached was the kitchen copy--no survey receipt attached. Discovered this place yesterday and already came back for lunch again today. The food is good, very quick, and reasonably priced. The choose 2 option is 7.99 and both times came to the table in minutes. The drinks are huge and have free refills. Their teas are great and the food was warm and fresh both days. The service both times was "chick-fil-a level". The employees were all friendly, prompt, and quickly cleaned the tables and filled our drinks with smiles. The meal is a good portion which left both me and my dad full, but not overstuffed. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant and location for a quick, great lunch! read more

There are many places to choose to eat in this area.. most of them involve a deep fryer... avoid them, come here and get you a classy, convenient, health conscious family meal with good prices and a good atmosphere. This was my first time at this location. I'm surprised I haven't been here before. They have many vegetarian options: sandwiches, pastas, salad, mac and cheese. I will most definitely be back just because they are so veggie friendly. I ordered a veggie club with a side of mac and cheese. Both were delicious. I didn't think it would be as filling as it was, but with the side of mac and cheese my meal was pretty filling. I guess that's cheese for ya. The interior decor is diner-style and is pretty large. I used to love McAlister's Deli but now it sucks! I had several problems: 1. New management is not good at all. Staff does not communicate well with each other in knowing what they have or in my case didn't have that day. 2. No baked potatoes & lemons? What's up with that? I placed and order for a baked potato ( just a spud) and tea. Getting ready to pay and kitchen staff says tithe manager "we don't have an potatoes" he then tells the cashier who repeats the information to me. I then go to my old standby the veggie sandwich on pita bread as I am vegetarian there are only about 4 items on the menu I can eat which brings me to problem # 3. How can you have an item on the menu and be out of it? If you are out of potatoes go to Kroger and get some or call another one of your locations and bring some to this store! You had to have known this before you opened for the day. Same goes for them lemons! Come on people. 3. Got rid of the good veggie sandwich on pita. Now they put the veggie on thick bread which would have not been a huge problem if the amount of veggies compensated for the thick bread. Oh and they also took off the only protein that was on the sandwich- the cheese! Not sure I will go back. I definitely won't recommend this McAlester's to anyone I know! read more

As a delivery person, I had a bad experience, As I waited for the order to be ready, it was taking long so one of the employees kindly offered me a something to drink while I waited, the manager asked one employee if I had paid for the drink, he said someone offered it to me. The manager said in a bad manner:"no free drinks in my restaurant" , then the turned to me and asked me: "did you ask for the drink or did someone offer it to you?" I've been to this location many times and never had an issue, but today I placed a to go order and after getting home I opened my sandwich container and found a squished fly on my bread. So I called the restaurant and explained the situation to the manager, who refunded my money. I then asked what they were going to do about having flies in the food prep area so this doesn't happen again and I was told that they already had pest control come out two days ago! :O wtf!!! After having many bad experiences at Panera, I decided to give McAllister's a try. I ordered the turkey sandwich (can't remember the name) and substituted country white bread. It was really good. The bread was fresh and there was plenty of turkey and the veggies were ripe. My husband had the chicken club and he said it was good, as well. That is about descriptive as he gets :-). The tea was as good as I remembered. Will definitely go back when I get another craving for a sandwich. read more
