    fish and chips

This restaurant opened pretty recently near the waterfront. I was a bit unsure on what to expect - because on one hand it felt like a classic overpriced spot targeting tourists looking for fish, but on the other side Tom Douglas has opened a lot of pretty good places across the city. I had the fish and chips, which are three pieces of Alaskan cod - coming with fries, tartar sauce, and ketchup. These were seriously awesome. I have to first talk about the beer batter on the outside, which has a phenomenal crunch. It's craggly and crunchy in the best of ways - with a consistent crispiness across the entire fish for every piece. I don't think I've ever had a crunch this good on fish and chips. The oil is clearly fresh, and it's served with basically no delay from the frying. I also loved the cod inside. It's super moist and flaky. Obviously, the fish doesn't have a lot of fat, but it makes up for it with a disappearing texture where you barely even need to bite through. They've clearly gotten the formula right on the fish. If that wasn't enough, the fries were easily the best I've ever had with fish and chips. They were hot, thick, and fluffy - a perfect combination that led to delicious results. The portion on these was great as well. If I had one complaint, the tartar sauce wasn't very good. It felt like it was missing both fat and acid, and tasted closer to ranch than what I was expecting a tartar sauce to be. I just didn't end up using it for the fish. Yes, this is pricey. The 3-piece order cost me $26 before tax/tip. That's quite expensive - despite a solid portion size. Is this the best fish and chips in the city? To me it's between this and Pacific Inn Pub. They have a much better tartar sauce and serve a larger portion at a third less of the price, but I think the actual fish and the fries here are better. I would say it's a toss-up - you can't go wrong with either one. Overall, a fantastic new opening that I would love to bring people to. 9/10

I should've known when we hopped off the Market traffic that no line, meant meh. Definitely wasn't our favorite meal we had in Seattle. The chowder was odd tasting. I didn't eat more than two bites. My fish was way over cooked. The fries were decent. Server was excellent and I felt bad dinging the star for her. She was great at keeping our waters filled and having a pleasant conversation. Restaurant was busy enough and the wait for the bathroom is in the same hallway the kitchen uses. I heard many complaints about this fact while I was in the tight quarters. Prime location, just need to look at fixing the cooking issues and this place would be jammed.

Visited Seattle for a couple days before an Alaskan cruise. Pike Place was on my list of places to see while there. I got hungry and stumbled upon Mr. Fish. There was a line, but since it seemed to be moving at a decent pace, I jumped in line and waited. Once seated outside in their lovely patio area, I ordered the fish & chips and a cup of clam chowder. My meal came fairly quickly and they had me at the first bite of clam chowder. I immediately tasted white wine. It was devine. The fish and chips were some of the best that I've had in quite some time. I honestly didn't expect much when I landed at this place. But I walked away promising myself that if I visit Seattle again, this place will DEFINITELY be on my list.

The fish & chips were gorgeous! The food was more than enough. The service was excellent. The beer was superb (I had the local Cloudburst IPA as recommended by our server). The location was charming. I suggest walking from your hotel if you are a visitor because traffic is congested in this location. The outdoor seating had a view of the puget sound. And mainly, the fish was moist and cooked perfectly! We spent $30 per person and included beers.

Don't let its Pike Place-adjacent waterfront location fool you, Mr. Fish is not some tourist trap without any real substance to the food. We sampled widely from the menu, and walked away satisfied with the meal. Favorites included the white chowder (accompanied by the garlic foccacia bread to dip), fried calamari, and fried shrimp. The salmon "burger" was solid too, with two generous slabs of clearly fresh fish. Also worth a shoutout is the service, which made us feel welcome and relaxed even during world cup traffic. What was a little bit of a letdown? This may be surprising based on the restaurant's name, but the fried fish...and the chips/fries. Neither were *bad*, but I would've liked both to be crispier. The fries were also a bit oily for my taste. Overall if you're looking for a tasty seafood meal in a beautiful location, Mr. Fish won't let you down. If you're specifically looking for fish and chips, it might not knock your socks off.

This place is just steps from the very touristy pike market place. Service was super friendly and prompt. The food? It was very good: the creamy chowder comes with spicy fish crackers which add an extra kick to it. We shared the mr fish combo and they brought it to us in two plates instead of one big plate - points for that!! The fish, calamari and the fries were all fried in a crispy batter. Well worth it!!

My friend and I came here on a busy Saturday but it's a huge restaurant in a popular tourist area so they are definitely well-suited to accommodate lunch rushes. We got patio seating and ordered the rockfish tacos, the king of the sea (which is a piece of cod over a bed of fries and a cup of chowder), and the 30 mile clams. Our server was nice but obviously busy and we noticed that it took our food quite a while to come. It eventually did arrive all at once and by that time we were starving lol. The clams were an absolute showstopper. We especially loved the broth and dipped everything into it because it was that good! It came with two slice of garlic bread. I even wanted to add something to it to soak up ALL the broth. My friend enjoyed the tacos and while I really liked the piece of fried cod, it was quite a small piece. The chowder was pretty good but it was 80% potato chunks. Next time I would just stick to the regular fish and chips options. And of course the clams!!

    Focaccia "crabby"
    Deborah S.

We had a lovely dinner at Mister Fish in Seattle. We started with the focaccia and made it "crabby," and it came out loaded with rich, creamy crab that was absolutely delicious. The beer‑battered Alaskan cod was perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside--and the fries were truly to die for. We also enjoyed the Rockfish tacos, which were fresh, flavorful, and well‑seasoned. Service was warm and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Overall, a very enjoyable dinner.

The place was packed, which should've been a good sign but in hindsight, the crowd may have had more to do with location than quality. Our food arrived suspiciously fast for a busy house, fast enough to make you wonder whether anything was actually made to order or simply pulled from under a heat lamp. The fries were the real letdown: cold, limp, and completely devoid of flavor the kind that make you reach for the salt out of desperation rather than habit. The rest of the meal followed the same theme: technically food, forgettable in every other sense. Nothing here is bad enough to warn you away, but nothing is good enough to bring you back. Mr. Fish & Chips lands squarely in mediocre territory.

A great find when all the restaurants at Pike Place Market were packed and had 1 hour wait times. Mr Fish Chips & Chowder was getting ready to close in 1/2 hour but the 8 of us were able to get in for dinner. We were seated on 2 tables of 4's. Our waitress was super friendly and the restaurant was clean & tidy! Didn't know what to expect because we wondered if all the restaurants around here are 1 hour wait, why was Mr. Fish Chips not that crowded? We were not disappointed. Clean atmosphere, excellent service and food okay.

Conveniently located by pike place and the pier! Everything tasted very fresh! Calamari was crispy and soft, and our server was very nice and attentive! Price on a slightly steeper size compared to the portion

I loved this place! The ambience was nice, and the restaurant was clean and tidy. The staff all seemed happy to work there and attentive. The focaccia was DELICIOUS, and so was the fish and chips. The host/manager even gave me something to rest my flowers in while I ate so I didn't have to try and hold them while eating at the same time. I will definitely be back!

Good: seated quickly despite it looking kind of busy. Fried fish was a bit oily but good overall. The batter was a bit thick. Oysters were pretty good Meh: we got a dozen oysters and they did not separate the oyster from the shells, so we had to dig them out a bit. Not sure if that's expected or not, but most other places I've been in general separate the oysters completely. To be fair, they were busy. One of our orders was also forgotten but we just had them take it off the bill, as we were full.

Wooooof! Way overpriced. Both chowders were not good at all. The fish was greasy and the 58$ for oysters was ridiculous.

Good location but bad fish. The salmon was over cooked and under seasoned, fish and chips was decent dry fish in the tacos.
