My SIL took us here and it did not disappoint. It's located near Seattle U, so there's a lot of college students. The food is reasonable and delicious. It was really flavorful and well-seasoned. When your order is ready, you just get it at the counter. You clean yourself when you're done. The churro with ice cream is so gooood. Everything was delicious, needed salt but the flavor was there. I wish the Jamaica was more tart but that's personal preference. If you like a sweet Jamaica, you'll like this one. I used to get my tacos out of the walk up window in the convenient store. What a great concept. When the brick and mortar opened up by SU there was finally a real sit down. The food is fast, reasonable for Seattle prices, and delicious. Their chicken, asada, and escaviche are outstanding. I been to Carmelo's tacos 7+ times. I've had their tortas, tacos, Burritos, aguas, & churros. They're STINGY w their meat. My burrito al pastor had like 6 chunks of meat and the rest was rice and beans- tasted rly good, but I didn't order a veggie burrito. This is pretty consistent but tn was bad. Came to Carmelo's for some night bites whilst hanging with friends and it there was quite the line which can be a good sign - It shows the place is popular, so they must be doing something good, but also you then have to wait if you're hungry. It of course came with a nice container of consommé broth for dipping. The tacos were good, but less meaty than what I've had. The guac on top was nice add though, I didn't even have to ask. Carmelo's is a walk-up window, like a notch up from a taco truck, so the presentation was decent. The flaw with Carmelo's is that it's pretty much walk up - take out. There is no place to sit or even place your food down. I had to juggle my plate and consommé while eating carefully. Because it can get so crowded I can see why they'd skip that but it's still kind of a hassle. That all said, Carmelo's is pretty fast, even with a crowd and the food is decent. There was such a long line for this takeout only place, but I would choose Tacos Chukis over Carmelo's any day. We tried pretty much everything -- the tacos, quesadilla, and torta. -Al pastor tacos (2.5/5): to be honest, they were a bit dry and diced too much. I much prefer the tenderness of Tacos Chukis al pastor tacor -Steak quesadilla (3/5): this was a solid quesadilla, I have no complaints. It was not too oily and had a nice crisp. There was no wow factor though, and could have been more of a cheese pull that is iconic to a quesadilla. -Chicken torta (3.5/5): the torta had way too many things going on and the bread was not nicely toasted like the one from Tacos Chukis, but I will say that the chicken was super tender and juicy... cooked perfectly. Wanted to try a local Mexican joint that had some decent reviews and Carmelo's Tacos didn't disappoint. The Quesabirria was delicious and the cheese quesadilla (basic I know), was decent. They use the good kind of cheese so I enjoyed it. I did ask for sour cream and I didn't get it so either they don't have any or didn't see it. I bought a Mexican coke and they offered to open it which is great! Especially since I didn't know if my Airbnb had an opener or not. I like that they're next to a market so I got some Monsters for PAX. Lastly, I wish that chips were automatically given, not something you have to buy. The last 2 times I've ordered food from them they forgot my consome for my Birria. One time I even called ahead so it wouldn't happen again and spoke to the manger and they still missed it.
