I was hoping for a homemade corn tortilla with my taco, but not on this visit. This 4 stars. I was spoiled by the homemade corn tortilla in Burien at El Centro. The Al pastor was a bit thick for my taste but nicely cut with pineapple. And of course the modelo negra complimented the heaviness of the meat. I admit I was fairly full from a previous meal but couldn't help myself to have a taco with my beer. The service was very nice and the ambiance welcoming. This restaurant is located in the Public Market in Seattle and is nicely located next to fish markets and a lot of smaller restaurants and shops. The employees were very friendly and helpful as we looked over the menu and the food came out fresh and hot. The breakfast burrito was fantastic. You get a choice of meat but I went with vegetables, which at many other restaurants ends up meaning veggies that had clearly been frozen and reheated, watering down the rest of the burrito. That was not the case here. Los Agaves chops their veggies fresh and it ups the quality of the food. Their salsas were very good and my partner really enjoyed the pupusa. Both their salsa verde and the hotter salsa had great flavor. If you're in the area I would highly recommend stopping in. read more

I went here on a food tour that I was on. They served a number of different tacos, burritos, tamales, tortas, breakfast offerings, etc. There were a few tables to sit at nearby, but not many. I had an Al pastor taco. It was of the street variety and had cilantro as well as lettuce present. This was okay. There was plenty of meat present, but it was a little too sweet for my liking. They definitely did not skimp on the fillings. If you like guacamole, you will definitely like this because they gave us a lot of it. The flavor was ok, not as bold as I expect. A good hearty meal for less than $10. This time, I decided to try their pupusa and got the pork and cheese one. It's made fresh to order and comes with a small side of slaw. The outside was crispy and the inside is filled with pork and cheese. There was definitely more pork than cheese in there as it was the dominant taste. This pupusa would have been perfect if they just added some salt! It was bland and the salsa they gave wasn't even enough. Once I added the salt on there, it was really good. It was even better with the salsa after the salt! Oh and you get a free drink with a yelp check in!! Had the carne asada bowl. This is more of a takeout place, they have very limited seating. The bowl came with a very generous scoop of avocado and was very affordable for $10. It also came with a lot of meat. However, the meat was not seasoned so it tastes kind of bland and old. Review based on their catering for our Recalentado (brunch after the wedding) Jaime is very nice to email with, he seems like a nice person with enthusiasm. Response times can be hit or miss. Sometimes he responds quickly, and sometimes we need to send follow ups. Looking on their website it's nice they have so many options for catering. One of the most confusing options was delivery catering vs buffet set up. I think it was a difference of about $2 a person. After emailing back and forth, we find out the buffet set up comes with delivery and someone comes back to pick up the equipment (buffet trays, ladles, bowls, etc). Awesome! Jaime was also accommodating to deliver a little further with a last min change in address. Time was set for 1pm. Emails said person comes an hour before to set up. Sounded great! However the person came early, about 11:15am. Venue wasnt really ready since we were expecting her at 12pm. Food was all ready to go by 12pm and she would be back at 2:30pm (she also said she can stick around to serve the food which was really nice, but we said we could do it). You might think 2.5 hours is plenty of time from 12pm to 2:30pm, but we agreed on 1pm. Guests arrived at 1pm, but when you have guests, they dont pounce on the food right away (at least with other guests around). We ask the caterer if we can get an extension because we only had 1.5 hours of the food there. They said no. We ended up frantically getting all sorts of bowls, trays, anything around to scoop the food out before the lady came back to gather the equipment. Lady comes, and provides a ton of to go bowls and trays. Pretty cool! Wish they woulda given us a heads up they had take out boxes. Summary: we wanted 1pm for the service. They set up too early at 12pm so the food just sat there till 1pm. 1.5 hours later, better have everyone dished up already. If we knew how time pressed this was going to be, we would have opted for only the delivery, not the catered buffet, and save money and the stress. If we had a heads up of the time, then 5 stars for Los Agaves for sure. Now for the food...finally right?? Food was scrumptious! Meats (pollo, asada, pastor) were flavorful, and salsas were so good! 3 salsas and a ton of chips. Wish it came with cilantro and onions that you typically use for street tacos on top. Beans and rice were to my liking. Also they're not made with any animal lard so good for vegetarians. I would be curious to try Los Agaves in person and would reccomend them for catering. The line wasn't too long and our meals were prepared reasonably quickly (would have been faster but I think there was a miscommunication with respect to my taco plate, so they had to prepare it after my wife's food was already ready to go). Everything in my combo plate was pretty darn good, although the tacos were a little barebones and could have maybe benefited from some extra flavors.
