Great decor and clean inside! Overall pretty solid burrito though the way it was wrapped I wasn't able to get a mix of everything with every bite. Taco was solid!

The tacos are overpriced but I will say this is one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in town. It's HUGE, my wife and I usually share it and both end up being full.

Couple years back on the hunt for the best tacos, my friends and I were guided to Carmelo's. They're definitely near the top of the list, but there's something about South Seattle and the tacos there. For the main city, Carmelo's is one of my favorites and this location is extremely convenient in the heart of Cap Hill and across the link. While service is friendly while taking orders, the chain is mainly self service for water and bussing tables. Casual ambiance, very cozy with a good amount of bench seating if not taking out. Quesabirria - my favorite across most Mexican spots, the birria meat is just so tender and juicy from the slow cook process. Add in a cheesy fried exterior and the rich, savory consome on the side and quesabirrias become the best of all worlds. Carmelo's does it well and I get cravings often. Quesadilla - while quesabirrias tend to steal the show, the quesadilla is the "healthier" brother. When not fried in cheese, extra oily, and served with a bowl of consome, the standard questadilla feels cleaner. After all, it's cheese, meat, and vegetables in a tortilla. I will say the quesadillas feel thicker and loaded with more cheese than the greasy Quesabirria brother. Tacos - one thing I love about Carmelo's tacos (the actual menu item, not the restaurant name) is that they slightly fry the tortillas with meat fat to give the overall dish more flavor. It enhances the outer bites where there may not be as much filling. Can't go wrong with any meat here, so order what catches your eye or get a variety to share.

After moving to Seattle, I was told it was worth forming an opinion on the superior taco between Carmelo's and Chukis. I prefer Carmelo's. Carmelo's tacos are served on standout yellow corn tortillas that are thick, fresh, and hearty. The carne and pollo asada was the favorite of my trio, flavorful without being too dry. The al pastor had an interesting tanginess but was a little too oily and sweet for my preference -- I might give Chukis the upper hand on al pastor. I appreciate the variety of meats Carmelo's offers and will be back to try the suadero and carnitas. Casual seating at cafeteria lunch tables, a salsa bar featuring pickled carrots and an assortment of salsas (green avocado is the best), and quick service complete a solid taco experience in Capitol Hill.

YUM! This was my first time trying Carmelo's, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We went to the new location instead of the original hole-in-the-wall spot. The interior was nice, but seating is limited--so I'd recommend going during off-peak hours. We ordered the steak and pork tacos, along with the quesabirria (a mix of a quesadilla and birria taco). Everything was delicious! The steak was surprisingly tender and well-marinated. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and craving authentic tacos. BEWARE if you're lactose intolerance the quesabirria will definitely make your stomach not so happy lol

I walk by this place almost everyday and finally decided to give this place a try. The interior is really nice and clean with great Spanish music. The cashier is super nice and food came out fairly quickly. I ordered the chorizo verde breakfast burrito. Keep in mind that before 11am they don't have any other meat other than the chorizo and bacon. The ingredients tastes very fresh loaded with lots of potatoes and chorizo and onions. The menu says there's eggs and cheese but I barely taste it. This burrito comes with red and green sauce on the side which is mildly spicy. This is a VERY big portion for being a breakfast burrito. I wouldn't say this burrito hit the spot for my morning hunger but with the fresh ingredients and soft tortilla I'd say it receives a decent 4 stars in my book. I'd definitely want to go back and try their other meats.

Finally got a chance to stop into taco spot, I've heard mixed reviews so I was ready to give them a go. First off the restaurant was pretty basic, they have the industrial wire picnic tables, a sauce cart, and trash by the door to bust your own table. Staff was friendly and my tacos didn't take long, the sauce cart had everything you need so I didn't complain. I got 3 Al Pastor tacos to fulfill my taco craving and they packed each taco with a good amount of meat, the meat was a little dry but the sauce complimented the sweet from the pineapple with just enough spicy kick and I enjoyed my tacos. Overall I would eat here again if I was in the area and wanted tacos but I'd maybe try their asada.

This is prolly one of my favorite quick grab for some burrito! It's good and highly recommended there Campechano! It's a mixture of steak/beef. Tastes great, I love the part that they added cactus. It does mix up the flavor a lot. Every bite, the cactus is either sweet or kind of sour but I like it! Overall, decent service. Give it a try if you're in the area. They have a few locations.

Caught the light rail up to Capitol Hill for three reasons: 1. Find interesting posters on light poles 2. Catch the last bit of evening sun before the Fall season arrives and 3. Try Carmelos Tacos Tacos Chukis on Broadway has always been my go to for tacos but I wanted to try something different. The person who took my order was friendly. The dining area was clean. I like their music. Selena was on their playlist. Wait time wasn't too bad. I went after work and there were about 6 orders ahead of me based on the numbers they were calling out. I tried a Carne Asada taco and a Pollo Adobo taco. It was ok. I like Tacos Chukis' tacos better. I think they'll be ok though. I like the friendly Broadway taco shop competition. They had plenty of customers rotating in and out of the restaurant. I give it a high walkability score as it's near the light rail and streetcar. A lot of buses roll through this area too.

The crispy birria tacos were so good! The other items we got were just okay. It's definitely a fast-food type service compare to other mexican spots around Seattle. However, we still had to wait 20 minutes for our food since there are a lot of people. There's a few benches inside where you might have to share seating with. But overall not a bad spot for some solid birria tacos.

    New seating at Carmelo's

They replaced the benches with actual chairs and tables so the place is way more comfortable now. You can truly enjoy your tacos or burritos. Or torta or quesadillas. Love what they've done with the place.

Even when it's busy your food won't take long for your order to be prepared, so I think the staff is efficient which is nice, I like that their vegan options aren't Taxing, i got two filling tacos for 8.96 (before tip) which is really nice especially bc their vegan options aren't some bs, they have a cactus option which is also nice!

My daughter asked if we can try Fire Tacos because her bff said it was good. We showed up asking for a table of 4 and were told the wait is about 20 mins. We walked to Ben & Jerry next door and had a small ice cream, sat down and finished it, then got notification our table was ready. It earns a spot on my list to return, especially we live 5 mins away.

Upon coming home and opening my food, I found that it was lukewarm and nearly cold. In addition to that, my order was wrong. Their phone number does not work so I had to come back in person to communicate their errors. They remade my food and gave me free chips and guacamole, but that doesn't change the fact that I wasted over 60 minutes of waiting and driving back and forth for a simple order of tacos. An incredibly frustrating experience for food that I actually like and enjoy eating.

However, it still tasted like it had a really nice flavor, and had a soft interior. It being actually spicy would've moved this dish up a lot, though each taco was primarily made out of this chicken - and there was so much of it it was practically insane - but I loved this amount shoutout to the onions as well - they were great I asked for the habanero sauce - which i thought was ok - wasn't spicy at all and didn't add much flavor. will go with another sauce next time tried mixing in some taco bell fire sauce which was interesting i love that these came wrapped in aluminium foil to preserve heat. a great touch overall, as far as taste, these were pretty good, but when you consider the amount of meat you're getting, along with overall portion size - it's simply a fantastic meal.

After lots of great suggestions, we decided to detour and head to Taco City. The moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff -- always a great start. We kicked things off with the Dip Trio: chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso. It was fantastic. The guac and chips were on par with my longtime favorite spot, the queso was rich and delicious, and the salsa had a unique flavor that really stood out. It easily could have fed four or more people.
