These are the best tacos in Seattle. They are not only really good, but really affordable. When combined with the free salsa bar, try the avocado salsa, it's to die for. This is a great value restaurant! I tried the al pastor and campochano tacos, and they were packed with flavor in a nice, thick, homemade corn tortilla. The atmosphere inside is very comfortable, and the service is fast. This spot is a great upgrade over their previous location, which was just a pickup window! Good tacos! This location is a little confusing since sometimes it is closed despite saying its open on regular hours. We managed to make it in one evening though. They have a good amount of seating inside so you can dine in. I got two tacos - al pastor and campechano (their steak and chorizo mix). They have a salsa bar where you can get as much as you want, and I had to try all the varieties! I liked both tacos a lot, but I think I actually preferred the campechano as it had such a unique flavor that was so good with the added salsas. These were quite spicy though, and my mouth definitely felt it for a while. Popular debate, but I do think Carmelos is better than Tacos Chukis! read more

Couple years back on the hunt for the best tacos, my friends and I were guided to Carmelo's. They're definitely near the top of the list, but there's something about South Seattle and the tacos there. For the main city, Carmelo's is one of my favorites and this location is extremely convenient in the heart of Cap Hill and across the link. While service is friendly while taking orders, the chain is mainly self service for water and bussing tables. Casual ambiance, very cozy with a good amount of bench seating if not taking out. Quesabirria - my favorite across most Mexican spots, the birria meat is just so tender and juicy from the slow cook process. Add in a cheesy fried exterior and the rich, savory consome on the side and quesabirrias become the best of all worlds. Carmelo's does it well and I get cravings often. Quesadilla - while quesabirrias tend to steal the show, the quesadilla is the "healthier" brother. When not fried in cheese, extra oily, and served with a bowl of consome, the standard questadilla feels cleaner. After all, it's cheese, meat, and vegetables in a tortilla. I will say the quesadillas feel thicker and loaded with more cheese than the greasy Quesabirria brother. Tacos - one thing I love about Carmelo's tacos (the actual menu item, not the restaurant name) is that they slightly fry the tortillas with meat fat to give the overall dish more flavor. It enhances the outer bites where there may not be as much filling. Can't go wrong with any meat here, so order what catches your eye or get a variety to share. read more

I ordered three different tacos and somehow every single meat was dry as hell and tasted like it had been sitting around forever. At almost $5 a taco, that's pretty hard to excuse. I'm Mexican. YUM! This was my first time trying Carmelo's, and it definitely lived up to the hype. We went to the new location instead of the original hole-in-the-wall spot. The interior was nice, but seating is limited--so I'd recommend going during off-peak hours. We ordered the steak and pork tacos, along with the quesabirria (a mix of a quesadilla and birria taco). Everything was delicious! The steak was surprisingly tender and well-marinated. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area and craving authentic tacos. I walk by this place almost everyday and finally decided to give this place a try. The interior is really nice and clean with great Spanish music. The cashier is super nice and food came out fairly quickly. I ordered the chorizo verde breakfast burrito. Keep in mind that before 11am they don't have any other meat other than the chorizo and bacon. The ingredients tastes very fresh loaded with lots of potatoes and chorizo and onions. The menu says there's eggs and cheese but I barely taste it. This burrito comes with red and green sauce on the side which is mildly spicy. This is a VERY big portion for being a breakfast burrito. I wouldn't say this burrito hit the spot for my morning hunger but with the fresh ingredients and soft tortilla I'd say it receives a decent 4 stars in my book. Finally got a chance to stop into taco spot, I've heard mixed reviews so I was ready to give them a go. First off the restaurant was pretty basic, they have the industrial wire picnic tables, a sauce cart, and trash by the door to bust your own table. Staff was friendly and my tacos didn't take long, the sauce cart had everything you need so I didn't complain. I got 3 Al Pastor tacos to fulfill my taco craving and they packed each taco with a good amount of meat, the meat was a little dry but the sauce complimented the sweet from the pineapple with just enough spicy kick and I enjoyed my tacos. Prime location on Broadway for some good tacos. Wait was a little longer than I'd like but they were busy. They have a lot more than tacos but I only ordered those. I'm not vegetarian or vegan but omg the Veggie Hongo Al Ajillo filling is amazing! Of course you need to like mushrooms but damn those were good. The sauce they are cooked in is divine and the mushroom pieces are hearty. The al pastor is also pretty good but honestly in comparison it seemed boring and and dry. They have a salsa bar with several options appropriately labeled with the spice level. I can't believe it took me this long to try Carmelo's, but now that I've visited, I think this is going to be my new go-to taco place in the neighborhood. It's very conveniently located on the corner of Broadway and Denny, just a block from the Cap Hill light rail station. Getting your food is easy--you just look at the menus on the screens above the counter, order your food at the counter, and wait for your order number to be called. You can either get your food to-go or dine in, and there are a number of metal picnic bench-style tables in the space to sit at. The space isn't huge, so if you're there at a busy time and have a small party, you will likely need to share a table with some other folks, but that's not a problem. Food comes out quickly, I only waited about five minutes for mine. Tacos are 3.49 each (a pretty good price for tacos in this neighborhood and this economy), and I got four of them--two al pastor, one hongos, and one chorizo. They come on corn tortillas, topped with onion, cilantro, and salsa verde, with a lime wedge and some pickled carrot and onion on the side. The al pastor is really really good, generously filled, so juicy. Chorizo is also incredibly tasty and they grill it nice and crispy. The mushroom taco is super flavorful and a great option for vegetarians. It was a really satisfying lunch and I am already craving a return visit! read more

Try Carmelos Tacos Tacos Chukis on Broadway has always been my go to for tacos but I wanted to try something different. The person who took my order was friendly. The dining area was clean. I like their music. Selena was on their playlist. Wait time wasn't too bad. I went after work and there were about 6 orders ahead of me based on the numbers they were calling out. I tried a Carne Asada taco and a Pollo Adobo taco. It was ok. I like Tacos Chukis' tacos better. I think they'll be ok though. I like the friendly Broadway taco shop competition. They had plenty of customers rotating in and out of the restaurant. I give it a high walkability score as it's near the light rail and streetcar. A lot of buses roll through this area too. read more

I came here on Saturday and I was craving a breakfast burrito and so I went inside and they do breakfast from 8 to 12 on the weekends, which is very cool and when I came in, I was greeted right away. The service was amazing and so I got myself a green Harriso, which I had never heard of it I was intrigued and I asked the employee about that and he told me the origins of the green chorizo and I saw an employee cutting potatoes for the breakfast burritos and I was happy. I got the burrito. It was really delicious. I got it with some salsa and the guy gave me plastic cup that reminded me of my childhood. I will definitely be back for this place.
