    Tostada de camarón

Carnitas Michoacán may have taken the crown as my favorite Mexican food in Seattle. They have everything you could ever want at a Mexican restaurant, and many that you've probably never tried before. I knew going in that I had to try their carnitas, but it was the other dishes that impressed me the most. The quesabirria was top notch. If you haven't had one before, it's as if a quesadilla and a taco had a beautiful baby - and the tortilla is dipped in the sauce that the meat is cooked in. The cheese is plentiful and delicious, it's a blanket that I've to take a nap in. I was a bit thrown off by the chunks of birria, most places shred it up. But I would say that it was much more juicy than the shredded version, I was blown away. This comes with some awesome roasted jalapeños and onions. The carnitas taco was excellent. For a street taco, they load it up with meat. It's a very traditional taco, so just carnitas, onions, and cilantro on a tortilla. But if you have the opportunity to eat here you should, they have an extensive taco bar with everything you need. The star of the show for me was the tostada de camarón. You just don't get them like this elsewhere in Seattle. Shrimp, mango, jalapeño, and avocado are all diced up to provide even distribution on a crunchy tostada. It's an exquisite bite every time. And there's a sweet sauce on it that makes the whole dish blend together so well. Carnitas Michoacán is a MUST visit if you're in the area. There's also a little market and carnicería next door that has some incredible food if you're making Mexican dishes at home, or if you just want some massive chicharrones.

I was craving mexican food and this was recommended to me. They have decent seating inside. Parking was a little difficult. Found some street parking about a block away. Walking to it wasn't an issue. Got a chance to try a number of things: Carnitas tacos (4): Their carnitas is moist and tender. I feel like it could use a little more crisp but the flavor was good and it was moist. Consome (5): Had to call this out separately. You do have to buy it separately as it doesn't come automatically with any birria, but its really good. Quesabirria tacos (5): OMG! Yes! Get the consome with it and dunk it! Birria was succulent and flavorful. Shell was crispy. Eat it fresh! Al pastor burrito (5): I honestly wasn't expecting much but their Al Pastor is amazing! Good chunks, moist, tender, flavorful. Delicious! Carnitas burrito (4): All their burritos seem to come with rice n beans inside which was good. Just depends on the meat you want to get with it. Chorizo burrito (4.5): Their chorizo is pretty good. I had to give the edge to the al pastor, but the chorizo is a super close second. I hear they make their tortillas fresh by hand which makes all the difference. It's super soft and really just makes everything really good. Their salsa is pretty good as well. They did have a lot of different hot sauces to try at each table, but honestly their homemade salsa added the best flavor. Overall, it was a pretty pricey meal. I'd generally complain about that but the food was just so good, I was willing to eat the cost. We'll likely return for the next craving.

My goodness, this is probably the best tacos/Mexican restaurant in Seattle. I habe tried most dishes and they all hit the spot. Obviously the carnitas taco is a must. The rest isnt too bad either. If you're a little adventurous, you should try the tripe and lengua. It taste better than you think. They're always busy when I go but dont worry, their service is pretty quick. I love a good mom and pop restaurant. This place became my comfort food now.

After all my many bad reviews and dining experiences with Seattle Mexican food, I can confirm that I am finally satisfied, no ecstatic about Carnitas Michoacan. I am obsessed with the place and find myself dreaming about the carnitas when I'm not there. Get the carnitas plate! When I come here, it's like I've been transported back to L.A. I don't even feel like I'm in Seattle anymore when I'm here. The service is decent and quick. Your walk up to the counter, order your food, and the server brings it to your table. There is a salsa bar available. The green avocado one is hot, but also the best. There is also salsa macha on table. Eating here is like eating being back home in CA. I never thought such a place existed in Seattle, but I was told that for the better Mexican food, travel south. This is a family style place. The times I went there were always little kids running around playing but no one minded. Totally fine to bring your kids. My only two critiques are the parking and chile relleno. Parking here, like in most of Seattle sucks. There is parking along side the building, but its always full, so you have to find a spot on the street in the neighborhood behind the restaurant. The chile relleno here is good and made correctly, unlike so many other places in Seattle. My only issue is that they serve it dry with a thick white sauce on the side for dipping. I prefer mines to be saucy with a red sauce, but these two things will not keep me away. Minor issues for an amazing place.

I don't know if it's because it's hard to find a great Mexican food spot in Seattle. that when I try one as good as this place, I think it's better than it actually is. Regardless, I think this place is good and I recommend it. I mean, I've been blessed to have lived in California and have had a plethora of different taquerias available to me so I feel like I have a gauge of good Mexican food, or maybe that's null n void. I'll let you decide. Anyways, this place is awesome and the menu is straight forward with photos. I like photos. They take cash or card. Review is based only on the quesabirrieria and the burritos. Quesabirrieria, pair it with the consome for the complete experience. I like to dunk the quesabirrieria in the consome. I like to lather it with spoonfuls of consome. I like to follow each bite with a sip of it. Get ready for a messy time and a good time. Burritos are classic. It's just the right ratio of rice, meat and other accoutrements. It's definitely filling. I like to throw on salsas and curate each bite as well. I'll cycle between the many salsas offered at the self service salsa bar. Salsa bar has Avocado Salsa Verde Spicy guajillo salsa(I think) Lime wedges Sliced radishes Cucumbers Also if you get a drink like horchata or one of their juices. The serving size is huge. You'll be surprised and definitely thinking, "I got my money's worth on this". Sorry for the long winded passionate review and hope you enjoy this place as much as I do.

I came here during lunchtime. There is free street parking nearby but is very difficult to get a spot. If you are driving, I would plan some extra time to park. The restaurant is a couple blocks away from the Beacon Hill light rail station. Staff are really friendly. I've ordered different burritos from here several times and plan to come back. Food here is very tasty and authentic. There is a lot of indoor seating here.

Do not order carnitas plate or any carnitas dish on Monday at all, AVOID!!! Carnitas are dried and really salty.

This is quickly going to become my new favorite place to stop in for a snack. WOW just wow for "taste of Mexico" The friendly staff, speed and quality of ingredients... wow so freaking good. I am willing to fast for a whole day just to get these tacos for dinner, wow.

Really good tacos! How can you say no to fresh tortillas?? Would highly recommend eating there since I got my tacos to go and the meat wasn't as tender. Still good after traveling 20 min back home though. Love the unlimited salsa bar. One odd thing, they only let you order shrimp tacos in sets of 3 so didn't get to try but hopefully next time when I'm more hungry. Will be back!

Pretty good Mexican restaurant in Seattle, where I found to be lacking good quality ones, spoiled by being from SoCal. I went here for takeout and saw that this place is fairly busy to dine-in, but had a few empty tables. For me, I tried the taco plate which you can choose 3 tacos but I opted to get one more, as well as chips and salsa. The 4 tacos I got were carnitas, asada, al pastor, and tripa. The food is good if you order the right things, as there were a few misses to what I got. I really enjoyed the carnitas taco, that's for sure. It's in the name of the restaurant, so I am not surprised. The asada taco was also good, but the tripa was okay and the al pastor meat was so dry like cardboard. So I can't give my overall experience a 5 stars. The rice and beans were pretty good, but I personally would just order only carnitas tacos if I come back again, for the value. The chips and salsa were standard, and I liked the salsa here more than the salsa they give with the tacos. The chips were twice cooked so it was especially crispy, and I liked that. They do give a lot more chips than salsa, but I don't mind good value. Overall, takeout was fairly quickly and ordering in advance meant I got to pick it up right away and it didn't sit too long in the pick up area. Food overall is fresh, and I'd recommend this place as long as you order the right dishes!

Stopped in for a solo dinner this week after work and the guy at the counter was pleasant. I ordered the Al Pastor taco plate ($14.99), meat was flavorful, loved the grilled onions and they have a delicious slightly spicy green sauce at the condiment bar that paired great with the tacos. Parking on beacon hill can be a pain but for authentic tacos I would come back. I've heard their birria is top tier, I will have to try next time.

However, it still tasted like it had a really nice flavor, and had a soft interior. It being actually spicy would've moved this dish up a lot, though each taco was primarily made out of this chicken - and there was so much of it it was practically insane - but I loved this amount shoutout to the onions as well - they were great I asked for the habanero sauce - which i thought was ok - wasn't spicy at all and didn't add much flavor. will go with another sauce next time tried mixing in some taco bell fire sauce which was interesting i love that these came wrapped in aluminium foil to preserve heat. a great touch overall, as far as taste, these were pretty good, but when you consider the amount of meat you're getting, along with overall portion size - it's simply a fantastic meal.

After lots of great suggestions, we decided to detour and head to Taco City. The moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff -- always a great start. We kicked things off with the Dip Trio: chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso. It was fantastic. The guac and chips were on par with my longtime favorite spot, the queso was rich and delicious, and the salsa had a unique flavor that really stood out. It easily could have fed four or more people.
