I have mixed feelings on Tacos El Asadero. I tried 3 days in a row to order a tamale and each day they said they had none. I tried once in the morning, once for early dinner and once late night. I also tried to order beef taquitos and they were out of those too. I'm not sure if they use frozen taquitos and ran out. The young guy who worked there was nice. I ended up ordering carnitas tacos and spicy pork tacos that comes with the standard onions and cilantro with two tortillas. The salsa came on the side and had a little bit of a bit. You also get pickled carrots, radish, lime and jalapeño. The carnitas were tender with a crisp on the outside and good flavor. The spicy pork was flavorful too. I would give the tacos 4 stars but a sad face for having tamales on the menu but none for sale over three days. The Taco bus is cool with seating inside and a covered area outside with tables. To avoid any disappointment I will stop trying to order tamales or beef taquitos. There is nothing worse to looking forward to something and then not be able to get the item. Always a go to taco spot when in mount baker /rainier area. They have a variety of options. I've had tacos , burritos , birria , carne asada plate. Everything has been good. Wait time isn't long but it can get very busy during lunch time work hours as a lot of trade jobs stop here. They do have table and chairs under a tent that you can sit. read more

This place is good. But not terribly vegetarian-friendly. Pretty authentic Mexican. We asked if they could make the food vegetarian. They made it with beans and rice, which I highly doubt didn't contain any caldo de pollo or lard. We went on a cold day. I do not recommend it, unless you're doing takeaway. It's a food truck and the canopy over the benches does not provide much protection. They should definitely invest in warmers. The service is solid though. We have tried tacos with carnitas, lengua, pork stomach and beef cheek. All tacos are amazing especially the stomach and cheek. Not really sure why this place has a steady stream of customers. Yea the meat is pretty good but look at that sorry taco. Where's the onions and cilantro? From the various pictures other Yelpers uploaded, you can see how they're inconsistent with the ingredients and condiments. On top of that, each taco is $2.75?! A very popular Mexican food truck for lunch! I ended up waiting longer than I wanted since there was such a long line. Tacos are $2.75 each and the plates (burrito, chimichanga, nachos, enchiladas) are all around $12. They have lots of meat options including stead, chicken, pork, tongue, cheek, etc. I got the burrito plate ($12) which came with a normal sized burrito with a side of rice, beans, sour cream, and guacamole. The burrito had cheese and steak in it (no rice/beans/etc). Overall, I thought the food was pretty tasty. People mentioned in other reviews that the portions were big, but I thought the portion sizes were very average (I finished all my food in one sitting). Came for dinner Friday, and it was so good we came back on Saturday. This is the best Mexican food I've found in Seattle after having so many good options in CA. Tried 5 different tacos, nachos, carnitas combo, and asada fries. The tacos are small, but packed with meat. They are a little pricey at $2.50 each, but given there's not much quality competition around here, it's a fair price. The carnitas are maybe the best I've had. They had a combo of different cuts, including crispy skin, that melted together in your mouth. As a result, I came back for a carnitas combo the next day and it didn't disappoint. Nachos and asada fries are the same, but with a different base. Essentially they are loaded with melted cheese, carne asada, sour cream, guac, jalapenos, and tomatoes. I poured a little salsa on top and they were delicious. I think they fries were better, but next time I'll ask that they fry them a little longer to make them crispy. Got the carnitas enchiladas this time.....Holy moly. Probably my favorite carnival place in all of Seattle. A little fatty and so tender plus some crispy whisker bits. I've been coming here on and off for almost 20 years. This is definitely one of the best taco trucks in the area. However, they're pushing themselves out of the "affordable street food" category very quickly. I ordered a torta and 2 tacos + soda today and it was almost $25. That's not far from sit-down restaurant prices. Let's face it - the food, despite its awesomeness - you're dining al fresco next to Rainier traffic and a used tire junk yard. Also, the food portions are becoming quite paltry. I think I saw maybe 6-8 small chunks of lengua in my torta. This is a go to neighborhood spot for my gf and I. We honestly probably go once a week as the food is very affordable and very tasty. In my opinion their two best meats are the shredded beef and the carnitas. I love to get them in the form of mulitas or gorditas or I often get the carnitas platter where I just get lots of pork with some accoutrements. They throw the pork onto the flat top right before so the outside crisps up, but retains a lot of the juice of a traditional carnitas taco. So when my lady and I made a trip to Seattle, taco trucks were few and far between. Is it because of the dreary weather this city gets year round? Or is it me being a Californian that gets spoiled with every type of food truck known to mankind? Well, "Tacos El Asadero" truly is one of the BEST taco trucks in the Seattle area. Located directly on South Rainier Ave. in the Columbia City/Mount Baker neighborhood of Seattle, Tacos El Asadero is more of in an urban area of the city. Parking was relatively easy to find as we were able to score a spot just half a block away; and this was on a Saturday evening afternoon around 5:30pm. One noticeable thing about this particular place (that others have mentioned) is that its not a truck; its a bus! A rather big size bus that is reminiscent of the 1970's complete with a nearby tent for those rainy Seattle days. The ordering system is quite simple, you walk up to the bus where the lady is taking the orders and order what you want. I went with four tacos total; 2 of their Carne Asada and 2 of their Carnitas. And at only $1.25/each, these are probably the best deal you'll get on street tacos in the Pacific Northwest. In addition to their tacos, their menu is quite extensive as they also offer Burritos, Tortas, Quesadillas, Mulitas, Sopes, Tamales, Gorditas, Enchiladas, Chimichangas, Menudo, and many combination platters. You have 9 types of meat choices to choose from as well; Asada, Pollo, Carnitas, Adobada, Cabeza, Lengua, Buche, Birria, and Tripa. So as you can tell, the possibilities are absolutely endless. Now one thing that nearly brought this place down to a four-star rating was actually receiving the food. I was very confused and unsure where we actually go to pick up our food. Come find out that the lady that takes your order is the same person that lets you know your order is ready while you pick up your food at the window. I was just a bit confused since there are customers inside the bus dining inside there. Just a tip, the inside of the bus is where they carry condiments, napkins, and drinks. As far as the food goes, the tacos were absolutely amazing and loaded with flavor and spices galore. There was also a high abundance of meat which made the $1.25 price on each taco worth every penny. And since I have only eaten my tacos from trucks in major California cities (San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles, and San Diego), this taco "bus" in Seattle, WA can easily rival and compete with some of the best I've ever eaten at. Overall, "Tacos El Asadero" is a must-try if you are on a budget and wish to indulge is some quality street tacos in the Emerald City. Keep in mind that (like many other food trucks) it is strictly cash only. They do have very generous hours as they are open 7 days a week from 9am-10pm.
