This place seems to be getting a few stars knocked off their rating for being in a sketchy area. And although that may be true, that is certainly not Aliberto's fault. I'm also seeing that people are finding foreign objects in their burrito that might not be found in authentic Mexican burritos (metal ties, hair, etc). What I'm here to say is that sometimes you gotta risk it for some good food. It's absurd to me that there are some very bad Mexican food places around here that have higher ratings than this. Aliberto's has legitimately tasty cuisine and at a reasonable price. I'm not saying that they're all-stars over here. I actually ordered a breakfast burrito at 8:30AM and they gave me some sort of Cali burrito with shrimp, steak and fries in it. The thing that I realized is that I didn't know it at the time, but this was exactly what I needed. Whoever was talking my order said, "Overruled! Give him the Cali!" And it turns out that she was right, I was way happier this way. Who needs eggs when you have steak and fries? The burrito was better than 80% of what I could have gotten in northern Seattle, and it was ENORMOUS. I ended up saving the other half for later. Mostly because I didn't want to eat that much shrimp and steak at 8:30AM, but also because of the sheer volume. I have driven by this place many times, and finally actually went in. I'm sure glad I did! THE ROSES: Huge parking lot! Large, super clean dining room. Very pleasant staff. Very reasonable prices and generous portions. Wonderful self-serve selection of hot salsas and pickled vegetable garnishes. THE THORNS: I ordered the Carne Asada Plate. The beef was nicely marinated and flavorful, but frankly rather overcooked (I think the fact they make everything in advance in order to give fast service on 'to go' orders vs. cooking these meals to order has a lot to do with it). The flour tortillas included with the meal were a real letdown - paper thin and overly greasy. THE VERDICT: The food at Aliberto's Jr. is pretty MOR: not super memorable, but by no stretch of the imagination awful either. They're kind of like the ball player who can be counted on to hit a single when you need it. The easy parking (a real plus in this neighborhood), friendly service and super clean establishment make it a cut above the norm. I get the impression they do a very brisk 'take out' business. Really great cali style burrito spot. Prices are affordable especially for the portions. Breakfast burritos are a killer deal. My personal favorite is the carne asada with fries burrito! a california burrito with a twist. Tortillas are fresh and tasty. Service is reasonably fast given that they are cooking up a bunch of orders after you order. Drive thru can take some time if there is a lunch line, but it is worth the wait trust me. Salsa bar is stellar, defintely worth trying all of the different sauces. I have talked with the owners at least once and they are really kind and amazing people. Love to support these guys and this burrito spot! If you ever went to Memos in Tacoma back in the day, this place is better than that, that Memo's used to be ran by the present owners of this place. Only thing holding it back from 5 stars is just the location because it sometimes gets a little nervy, but go for breakfast or lunch and you shouldn't have an issue! Inside is clean, always freshly mopped and tables have been clean every time we go. Sadly not really a fan of just dining in while in SODO but happy to grab an order to go. The better half loved her enchiladas and my sopes were solid too. Had this place on our list for a minute and finally came here for dinner when I was feeling too lazy to cook after getting groceries at Costco. For the price, you get relatively tasty food. I expected it to be much worse, as many of these restaurants tend to dumb down the flavor significantly to cater to the general population. They're no frills and quick service. I found the ladies at the counter to be alright --not overtly friendly, but not mean either. We ordered inside at the counter and then sat down inside to eat our meals. -The burrito was a good size, but didn't have any rice and beans, and the flavor was a bit bland, but it got the job done. Hubby left full, so it works out. -I got the queso birria tacos and ordered a side of rice and beans because I was craving them as we switched to Quinoa at home :( The Consommé was yummy enough, and they gave you a decent-sized side, so I used the extra to add flavor to my rice and beans. I liked the tacos. You can't go wrong with these, so I would have been really surprised if they managed to mess this dish up. As for the types of folks that frequent this place, I'd say yeah, you get the seedy ones given the area, but lots of regular city folks grabbing some food on their way home as takeout or after grocery shopping in the area like us. We didn't feel unsafe or anything and inside is spotless, super clean. Even when someone who seemed unhoused came in, he was treated well, and there were plenty of staff who would have likely intervened if something had gone down. That said, we were there on a Saturday afternoon, so I don't know how it gets on other days and nights. Frank now reviews the menu and the 4ft imagery of the 5 rolled Tacos Supreme made me say, YES! A friendly staff member took my order and within a few clicks of the clock my order was served. They must have changed their recipe for their chile verde pork dish and/or changed their cook. The last couple times it has been terrible. The sauce is reddish brown, not green (doesn't verde mean green?) and gritty tasting (added weird spices). I've been to 3 of the Aliberto's locations now and the 4th street location is by far the best. They recently increased some of the prices I think, but I still find their food totally worth it. I have only ever ordered one thing becuz it is literally so good and that is the Carne Asada burrito with everything. This burrito is so massive that I could never eat it in one sitting. I get two meals out of it making the price seems even better. My husband loves the grilled chicken burrito and eve he needs two sessions to finish his burrito. I don't really like going in the drive thru, becuz of course I need to hit the salsa bar and get some limes and burn-your-face-off Veggies to go with my burrito. Sometimes I add a little sour cream when I get home (don't ask for it there because then it doesn't reheat properly). I highly recommend Aliberto's and one of these days I may even try another menu item. LOL! read more

I absolutely love the quality of the tacos, with a generous (maybe too generous haha!) amount of meat, I could make another one or two tacos more out of it. The second time I ordered their California Burrito. I wasn't sure if it tastes the same as the California Burrito from Alberto's in Van Nuys (LA) so I knew I had to try it. My go to is 2 birria mulitas with consommé. The consommé isn't the best you'll ever have but it's complementary with the meal so I can't complain. The mulitas are seasoned well and very flavorful. I keep seeing Aliberto's Jr locations popping up all over Puget Sound in the last year and finally tried one today. I found myself in the SoDo neighborhood around 9:45 am and in need of a hearty breakfast. I tend to avoid Denny's, etc in order to try something new so I ate at Aliberto's. Overall, it was as expected. Good authentic type food for a good price. No frills. I had Huevos Rancheros with corn tortillas and a fountain drink. There is a self serve hot sauce and other condiments bar in the lobby. I got a good amount of food for the price and it tasted just fine. The staff were there cleaning the floor and wearing protective gear while dealing with the customers (gloves & face masks). On top of the food not being good, they didn't give us our kids drink that comes with the meal and when we asked for it the lady was annoyed. I told the cashier I wanted a carne asada burrito with queso, and he suggested I try the carne asada fries burrito. Guys, this is the of the best damn burritos I have ever had. Do yourself a favor, and go. The dining room could use a little update, but they do have a really nice and clean sauce bar with picked carrots and jalapeños. Great prices for a decent Mexican restaurant. They offer a kids menu, a drive through and in-person dining. I've had the carne asada burrito, chicken burrito and carnitas plate. All have come with very large portions that included a relatively large amount of protein which is a huge plus. And for those from California, their carne asada burrito is pretty close to what you get in SoCal. Not as good, but close enough considering how hard it is to find this type of food in Seattle. The one downside is that their guacamole is creamy, not chunky. This is good for their burritos since they add tomatoes and onions to them, but not great for dipping your chips into. They have only been open a few weeks (since March 2022) and still have yet to get the swing of things so they don't know their own menu very well, but I'm sure this will improve with time. But overall it's a very decent option for Mexican food in SoDo. read more
