Pan dulce con café de olla. So good!

There's a bit of a wait but the service and the food were really good. Definitely a must when in Seattle! The cafe de olla was really good! The food was yummy as well.

Huarache with carne asada, highly recommend

This is our usual go to spot for Mexican food. Ordered huarache and birria tacos. Both taste amazing. They do have a small parking lot behind the restaurant or street parking. Highly recommend and would come back again

My husband said "this is one of my favorite restaurants for sure!" And then the next day he said "ahhh I miss this place already..." So yeah this place definitely deserves 5 stars!! We got carne asada and rib eyes steak! And wow the portion was huge for the Carne Asada! The meat marinated so well and so tender! And if you ordered the rib eye, you will definitely get everyone's attention because they brought me the sizzling pan. It's super duper hot so please be careful!! It kept the steak hot the whole meal, but the only part I didn't like is because the pan was too hot, it overcooked the meat at the end. The service was nice, he was really nice and always there to check on us. I really like the tree in the middle in the restaurant!! It's such a vibe!

Wow, finally I found authentic Mexican food in Seattle!!! It was very tasty and filling. They offer a bottle of champagne with juices such as mango and passionfruit for brunch. Our server was clearly young and confused about the menu but she did call over for help with a more experienced waiter which I appreciated! Overall the customer service was great and I will be back.

ornamental "tree" contributes to the pleasant atmosphere

Usually I am with a friend when eating out but was alone this time and ordered Carne Asada which was excellent. It came with a large tray of toppings that I don't use so in order to avoid waste I had the cheerful server take it back. Next time I would order the Quesadilla with Carne Asada stuffing, which an expediter who had just gone off duty was having; I had flan for dessert, also excellent and a generous size. I took home half my Carne Asada in a box. Parking could be a challenge (I had walked up from my home a mile away) but I believe a spot could be found within two or three blocks on the residential side streets either side of 10th Avenue. My visit was a Saturday and they were busy when I was there in the 8pm hour; seating includes a balcony above Miller Street. servers got to everybody cheerfully and efficiently. I also had a glass of Merlot; I paid $59.60 including 22 percent tip well deserved.

This has been probably the best Mexican food I've had since moving here to Washington(I'm from West Texas) so it's nice to know if I want a great Mexican I know where to go!

    D'la Santa Parrillada
    Vivi R.

Great food and even better service. The Parrillada was impressive--tender, high-quality cuts--and the cheese was the perfect complement to the meal. Despite the house being packed immediately at opening, the team found us a spot right away without making us feel rushed. A wonderful find, just be prepared for a crowd. And do make reservations if you can!!

I'm obsessed with this place and already know I'll be coming back next time I'm in Seattle. Could not recommend enough to anyone going to the city. My boyfriend and I came right when they opened after our drive in from Portland, and there was already a line out the door -- definitely recommend making a reservation if you can. Luckily, the line moved fast and we got seated pretty quickly. The food was incredible. Everything was so flavorful and exceeded my expectations. The handmade tortillas? Unreal. So warm and soft -- you can seriously taste the difference. My boyfriend ordered the pozole (even though it felt a little pricey), but honestly it was worth it. Super rich and comforting, and there was way more meat in there than it looked like at first. One of my favorite parts was the sweet bread cart -- they come around with a tray of fresh pastries and it smelled SO good, I didn't even hesitate. Perfect with a cup of coffee. Such a cool little touch that made the whole experience feel extra special. The vibes inside were cozy and colorful -- it felt like being in a little café in Mexico. Super warm, inviting, and the service was great too. Can't wait to come back need to try the cocktails

Everyone who says there's no good Mexican food in Seattle has obviously never tried this place! The food is delicious and the service is super nice. The decor is also beautiful with the tree in the middle of the restaurant, and I love the vibes at brunch when they push around a cart with pastries and mimosas. One dish I loved here was the Chile en Nogada. I feel like finding this dish is a rarity at any Mexican restaurant, so I always order it if I see it. This dish had so many flavors but everything worked together harmoniously. The smokiness of the poblano, the meaty and fruity flavors from the filling, the nutty sweet flavors of the sauce. It sounds a bit weird, but it all works together and you should try it if you haven't. The one downside of this restaurant is that they don't take reservations so come early or be prepared to wait. The wait can be 2-3 hours at peak times, but one good thing is that you can join the waitlist online so definitely do that before going to the restaurant.

    Tacoarte!!
    Max K.

My wife and I had a great experience here! We came to try the tacoarte we saw on yelp and were not disappointed! It was really tasty and full of different taco options! Our waitress really nice and checked on us often and I loved how small and intimate it felt inside the restaurant. It was pretty busy but we didn't need to wait, we may have just been lucky! Excited to come back and branch out on foods, but the tacoarte was a great place to start!

DELICIOUS tacos! Oh my goodness. The tacos de birria were so scrumptious. Would totally order that again. The guacamole was yummy but not the most amazing guacamole I have ever had. I was however, obsessed with the tostada chips that came with the guacamole. Also, we sat down and the server immediately brought us a sharing platter of toppings like radish, pico de gallo, onions, and cilantro. This was complimentary for our meal! It was the best toppings for the tacos i ordered. I also highly recommend ordering a margarita or one of their yummy cocktails to pair with your meal! They are so good and refreshing. Definitely a must order on a sunny day! Service was sooo great. Super friendly staff and quick service.

Went during brunch, so just had appetizers, food was excellent but really wanted dinner items. Will have to go back! Waiter was awesome and informative and had a great conversation with him. Restaurants small and nicely decorated.

I'll start off this review by saying this place did not disappoint! Everything we tried was delicious. We waited an hour for a table but it was worth the wait. The weekends are pretty busy for this restaurant. The staff were incredibly nice and efficient. Our waitress came by several times to check on our table. Although we waited an hour for a table the food came out relatively fast. We are Mexican and the food was very authentic- it felt like we were having a meal at home! You can tell everyone there takes pride in their work. We are already planning our next visit next time we are in Seattle. Muchas gracias!

Ask the Community - D' La Santa

Is the parking lot behind their building also for D'La Santa customers?

    Yes

Are they social distancing? What are the safety protocols now (Fall 2021)?

While social distancing was fine (admittedly as soon as they opened at 5pm) half of their staff were not wearing masks. Left within minutes of seeing that.

    Are they airconditioned?

Yes, it's nice and cool in there!

Is the fact that they no longer accept reservations an issue on a Sunday night?

No, it's not a problem. It is the easiest and fastest way to get a table. Having reservations makes everything slower because customers do not arrive on time and the tables are unoccupied with waiting customers who could use them.

Although it's naturally very fatty, the flavor and juiciness was retained after cooking - so they didn't screw it up. The salsa verde was a very nice accompaniment, as it tasted light, fresh, and a good complement to the fat of the meat. The mole enchiladas were less good. The mole sauce used leaned way too heavily on a sweet flavor - having little to no nuttiness whatsoever. It didn't taste anywhere close to some of the best moles I've had. The enchilada underneath was fine - nothing special. Both dishes came with beans and rice. Both were slightly above average, but nothing to write home about. I would say the portions were well sized in terms of overall amount, but the enchiladas were quite small compared to the beans and rice. With these two dishes we ended up around 28 per person. Overall, it's average Mexican food. 6.5/10

I'm usually a fan of a smaller, curated menu because it suggests care in sourcing and execution. But for us, the execution just didn't land. Everything is served family-style, but the portion sizes didn't justify the price point. We started with the sourdough and butter spread, and it was a letdown right away. The bread was hard as a rock, and the butter--while sounding interesting--came slightly burnt and didn't feel worth $11 for two pieces. Next was the albacore tuna tostada. As someone who travels to Mexico City often, I was genuinely excited for this. But it leaned heavily on avocado, with barely any tuna to balance it out. For $25 and only two tostadas, it felt pretty stingy. The rapini quesadilla sounded promising but ended up tasting mostly like broccolini and mushrooms--nothing that really stood out or justified the dish. We finished with the 21-day dry-aged steak, which, at $59, felt like it should've been a highlight. Unfortunately, it missed the mark. It came out essentially raw, which I didn't mind in theory, but it was incredibly chewy and lacked flavor. It was difficult to cut and even harder to enjoy. The tortillas were nice, and the demi-glaze had potential, but overall it just didn't come together. Even the refried beans on the side were underwhelming--something you could easily find done better at a casual spot. On the bright side, the mezcal margarita with a tajín rim was excellent--well-balanced and probably the highlight of the night. And the service was warm and attentive, which I appreciated. But overall, for the prices and the hype, this place just didn't do it for me. Maybe we ordered wrong, but I've had much better elsewhere. I hate to say it, but I probably won't be back.

So many of our regular spots had lines out the door, which was no surprise, but we ended up getting a table here. Figured Mexican food is hard to mess up. They have an option where you can try ALL of their dips for $20, which I couldn't resist. It was so fun, they had like 9 different ones! I got the shrimp tacos and they were so flavorful that I almost gasped. The creamy sauce, crunchy veggie toppers, smooth avocado, and perfectly cooked shrimp...just wow. I will be dreaming about this dish for years to come. I am a pescatarian and gluten free and there were TONS of options for me. They mostly use corn for everything, not flour. Before it seemed like Maiz Molino was focusing on elevated, unique Mexican dishes (shown in the pics in my prior review such as short rib, and other sort of "fusion" dishes, and more seafood focused, etc.) Now, the menu seems way more generic and casual like enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, tamales, etc. just offered w/ different proteins. They are still focusing on maiz but just a bit more generic in the preparation and offerings. Also, they had 2 separate menus which was a bit confusing. One is a generic all day menu and then another menu had brunch and dinner on it. It was around 5:30 p.m. but they were out of a particular steak dish that we were interested in. Service was friendly. We had enchiladas, a dip sampler (for appetizer) and Tlacoyos. Everything was fine but nothing really stood out, sadly. It wasn't very busy while we were there, so hoping that they are doing ok as a business. I would love to come back if they brought back the old menu w/ things that you cannot really find elsewhere, including the great cocktail menu and desserts that were offered previously.

Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation!
