Not super busy on a random weekday. For food, we tried chips with various dips, the wings. I got the crispy shrimp and Campechano (steak + chorizo) taco for my main. The food was okay. My favorite was probably the spicy queso dip we ordered for the chips. Nothing else really stood out about the food. This has to be the worst Mexican food I've ever had. Continuing Seattle's trend of pretty restaurants with over-priced bad food, Poquito's is about as far as you can get from authentic. I ordered tacos Al pastor and carne asada. The meat in both was dry, overcooked, and flavorless. My husband had the chicken adobado and it was also dry, unseasoned, and devoid of flavor. For a fraction of the cost of our meal, we could have gone to Burritos California a block away and had delicious food with actual flavor. Update following the reply from Poquitos: I live in the neighborhood and my experience has been similar every visit: low quality food for way too much money. This was just the last straw. read more

Recently moved a friend to Seattle and we've been trying to find restaurants to check out the food scene here. Came across Poquitos and decided we would try it after a long day of unpacking. We didn't have a reservation was able to be seated immediately which was great on a Saturday night. There were plenty of tables and booths when we were seated. Our waiter was very quick to take our drinks and food order. For drinks, we had the Poquitos margarita (which was great-- perfect balance of tequila and tartness) and the Paloma (if you like grapefruit juice, this is a good choice for you). We ordered the salsa trio-- all three salsas were delicious and perfect spice level. The chips were also really crispy and salted well. I had the alambre (flank steak with onions and peppers in a sauce) served with three tortillas, rice and beans. The steak itself was cooked and seasoned really well, and I enjoyed the sauce it was cooked in. The beans were also in a savory sauce and it was so good! Others at the table had the carne asada street tacos and crispy pork street tacos-- I was told they were delicious. Looking forward to coming here again! Only in Seattle would this pass as adequate for a 3 appetizer combo for $15 dollars and Guacamole appetizer (that they made me mix up myself so I'd know it's "fresh" *eyeroll*)For $10 ??? The black bean dip was essentially soup, and exactly the same as the beans they served with my "fajitas" (loose definition ) Flour tortillas were paper thin and dry. We stopped into Poquitos on Capitol Hill only because our favorite Mexican spot was closed for Thanksgiving -- and honestly, we should've waited until it reopened. First red flag: $10 for chips and salsa. Seriously? For something every other Mexican restaurant brings out complimentary? Then the "fajitas" arrived... except they didn't come on a sizzling platter. No steam, no sizzle, nothing. If it's not sizzling, don't call it fajitas. The rest of the menu felt bland, totally uninspired, and wildly overpriced for what you get. On top of that, the music was blasting so loudly it made it hard to hold a conversation. Between the noise, the tiny portions, and the inflated prices, I'm not sure why people choose to come here. Bigger portions or lower your prices -- ideally both. We won't return and definitely won't recommend read more

Paquito delivers bold Mexican-American flavors while staying true to its traditional Latino roots and it absolutely shows on the plate. We started with the jalapeño queso and tortilla chips, and it was, as I say, chef's kiss. The queso had the perfect level of heat and flavor comforting notes without bullying your taste buds. The real standout for me was the chicken pozole rojo style, which was easily one of the best I've had in years. It's served build-your-own style, which was such a fun and unique touch. All the fixings come on the side so you can customize it exactly how you like, because let's face it, pozole can be personal. The chicken wings were solid as well, seasoned with just the right amount of buffalo spice. Enough kick to keep things interesting without setting off alarm bells. The carne asada was cooked beautifully and, once again, came with all the fixings so you could make it your own (Paquito clearly understands commitment to customization.) For dessert, we tried the holiday-inspired flight of nogs. Three Latino-flared eggnog drinks that were festive, creative, and delicious. The mezcal version wasn't my personal favorite, but I still appreciated the unique flavor profile and the creativity behind it. Service was good, the ambiance had that lively Saturday-night energy, and overall it was a great experience. Paquito is definitely a spot I'd come back to when I'm craving comforting flavors done right, with personality to match. read more

Came here with some coworkers for dinner one evening. I've passed Poquitos while on Cap Hill before (the sign is hard to miss) and have never come in, but I'm glad to have given it a try! Upon arrival we were seated quickly without a reservation. It was a weeknight though so that wasn't too much of a surprise. Service was super nice throughout our whole entire visit and he made sure to check up on us often. Poquitos is super fun for coming with friends or even a date night. We were seated in an area that was dimly lit with fun fire pit tables - wish we had sat there, but the booth was comfy too! We shared an order of the nachos which were super delicious and loaded with tons of toppings. For my entree I got the Baja Fish Tacos which were really good! Everything tasted super fresh and they were LOADED with veggies - next time I'd definitely request light veggies, because it kind of took over the whole dish. The fish itself was delicious and the sauce was too - I would request MORE of the sauce next time! Overall this is a solid spot for dinner on the hill if you're craving Mexican! read more

Menu tremendously changed since last time I was here (9 months ago). Previously I had their wet burrito for $17. Now, they're charging $23, plus an additional $4 for protein, and $2 to add the sauce. So it would've costed me $29 pretax to get the same burrito I got previously. This is a ridiculous price jump from their last menu. The vibes are still good. Lighting is great and there's plenty of seating. Music is also good. Service was good. Server answered our questions and the food didn't take long to make. Burrito tasted good as well, but paying almost $30 for a basic burrito is mind-blowing to me. Overall, I am definitely not coming back here because of the huge price increase in the food. Highly disappointed that management/ownership thought this was okay to raise the price of food to that extent. I wouldn't be surprise if less and less customers attend to the restaurant. read more

The mojito was fresh and one of the tartest I've ever had, no hint of sweetness at all. Not my preference, but it was unique. The carnitas were delicious and served in a hot cast iron skillet. Yummy food and a nice vibe! We booked a spot here for a large group and came during their happy hour. The exterior doesn't look like too much, but once you're inside its so cool! The lighting is dim, and the space is huge - there are so many tables and nice lights. We were at a high top table which was fun, and had great consistent service throughout the night. We ordered the salsa trio and guac to share for starters. The chips themselves were pretty good, and I especially liked the pico and red salsa. Guac was good too but nothing that special. I also got a mango margarita which was quite yummy - not too sweet and just the right amount. For the main dish I got the baja fish tacos, fried. I would highly recommend getting these! They're made with mahi mahi rather than the traditional cod so they taste slightly more fishy, but I kind of enjoyed that. The fish was fried perfectly so it was still moist, and the sauce and toppings paired so well on the fresh corn tortilla. The rice and beans that were served on the side were also fantastic - I'm usually not that big a fan of these but I absolutely loved the ones here. Great service and the food was also very tasty. I do think the prices are slightly inflated for the portions you receive but the developed flavor is there. Don't expect to take any leftovers home. The chips and salsa was excellent with a variety of salsa dips. The dessert churros were also a pleasant sweetness. I can't remember the last time I had a churro. (But I do remember Costco's large churro was a little tastier). Maybe I loved sugar things more when I was younger though. The carne Asada meat was cooked well and my husband loved the homemade tortillas. It just wasn't a large portion with the small side of rice & beans. I really liked the fish tacos because they had lots of flavor with different textures from the cabbage and the panko crusty fish. Overall it was a great meal. My husband and I visited recently and had a great experience! First off, the ambiance is really authentic, reminded us of our honeymoon in Puerta Viarta. Secondly we loved the happy hour menu! We were visiting from Vancouver BC and were craving some Mexican food. This place is a great place for Mexican food. It has lots of room, the service was great and the food was excellent. We ordered the shrimp ceviche, fish tacos and the NY strip steak. The ceviche was fresh, the shrimp pieces were big and the sauce has a little kick/heat to it which helps enhance the flavors. The tostadas was crispy and flaky. The Baja fish tacos were flavorful. You can choose grilled or beer battered fish. We chose the grilled ones. The fish was fresh, the amount of aioli sauce & pico de gallo was perfect and the taco shell was soft. It was one of the best fish tacos I've had in a long time. The steak was medium rare and so damn tender. The way they grilled it gave the steak a rich grill taste, like it was over charcoal. Maybe it was. Lol. We'd definitely come back if we're visiting again and maybe bring se friends so we can order more dishes. read more

Our server, Desta (sp?) treated us like royalty - one of the best service experiences I've had in Seattle. She was kind, quick, and extremely personable. The brunch here is underrated and selfishly, I'd like to keep it hidden. Brunch items include: chicken and churros, Texas breakfast tacos, and chilaquiles!
