Tonight I had the quesadilla (pollo) and the burrito. It was delicious, but I need to stress that the quesadilla is a meal. The burrito is maybe for tomorrow.

They just opened a couple days ago (no connection to Fry Zone that occupied the space previously) A bit different from your standard Seattle "taco shop". The standout here is the meat - and more specifically, the carne asada. I'm a steak lover and this really hit the spot. The tacos seem a bit pricey at first, but they are pretty big, and the carne asada is so juicy and tender and flavorful. Each taco has a decent little pile of medium-rare bite sized chunks of steak. Plus, the homemade tortillas and salsa bar really make it worthwhile. We also tried a burrito, which was tasty too, but I preferred the taco. Excited for a quality taco spot to have opened up in the area. Looking forward to trying more things!!

Honestly just a really solid taco spot. The asada was on point, great quality meat and seasoned really well. The sauce bar is awesome too, lots of good options to make every bite your own. Food was fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. Definitely coming back!

Papancha

Great asada taco with a large salsa and toppings bar. Try the papancha (baked potato loaded with asada!) The staff are very nice and the decor inside feels like you've stepped into a small town in Sonora. The menu has many options of meats and sweets.

I didn't like the that meat was cut so thick and the chicken had fat not trimmed! Tortillas got soggy and fell apart instantly.

Excellent food. Excellent service. Ambiance was delightful. Let me elaborate:…read more Upon being turned away from two (!) unnamed Japanese izakaya up the street at 8:17pm on a rainy Sunday evening, even though they are posted as open until 9pm, my little trio fell into the warm, glowing, hip-hop infused embrace of Lupe's Situ Tacos. The hushwe meat? Excellent. The carnitas are "out of this world" (ant Cowboy Bebop fans?). The guacamole felt home-made in the best way. My partner's spicy chicken tortilla soup was delicious -- spicy but not too much so, with a lovely smoky note to it. The service was quick and cheerful. They let us hang out for a few minutes and write our reviews and finish our Jarritos -- even after close. The ambiance was great: colorful, cheerful, and energetic without being overwhelming. The playlist was eclectic and very cool. We heard Lupe Fiasco, Deltron 3030, and hip hop from around the world. If you find yourself wandering around Ballard looking for a satisfying, cozy meal, you cannot go wrong with Lupe's Situ Tacos!

Tonight we stumbled onto our new favorite Mexican spot…read more I was craving birria, and since one of our favorite hobbies is trying new restaurants, I asked in a local Facebook group who had the best birria near us. After lots of great suggestions, we decided to detour and head to Taco City. The moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff -- always a great start. We kicked things off with the Dip Trio: chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso. It was fantastic. The guac and chips were on par with my longtime favorite spot, the queso was rich and delicious, and the salsa had a unique flavor that really stood out. It easily could have fed four or more people. I ordered the birria tacos. They were generously filled with flavorful beef and served with equally delicious consommé. For my personal preference, I would have loved them just a little crispier -- but otherwise, they absolutely hit the spot. My favorite dining partner ordered the Taco Trio -- two carnitas and one chicken. He's an "authentic taco" guy, and he said they were fabulous. As we were checking out, our server suggested we try the nachos next time. Don't worry -- we will definitely be back. This one just jumped to the top of our favorites list.

It's a cozy taco shop that's medium sized with high tables and low tables. There's lots of pineapples that catch your eye. I ordered through the self service kiosk and got 7 tacos. 5 regular carne asada tacos and 2 chukis specials. The food arrived after 10 minutes of waiting. I was so happy with the presentation, lovely colors of green, brown, and red! The chukis special puts pineapple on their tacos! Never tried that before in California. The tacos were juicy, filling, and delicious. The pineapples added a great sour sweet taste. Would come here again!

Seattle taco scene strikes again. Ok, comparatively for Seattle these tacos are fine...I guess. But…read morethey reflect the larger subpar Seattle Mexican food scene. It's just not that good. The tacos themselves were pretty dry with standard taco seasoning flavor. The asada and Chukis are serviceable. The pollo is a no-go, super dry meat and no real garnish to speak of. I guess you need to add that as extra? The guac is most like salsa guac, but it's cheap so that explains that. Honestly the mini burrito is better. Better tortilla and flavor. Not sure how that is but...it's true. Maybe because the "quac" doesn't overpower the rest of the ingredients. The inside isn't very nice, just grab and go I recommend. I think this place makes most sense as a late night food truck than a physical location restaurant. It's a good $ value so that's a positive.
