Service was good, however all the food taste burnt and really overpriced! What we paid for and what we received was sufficient.

INCREDIBLE DINING EXPERIENCE ! From the moment you walk in you know you are in for an event. Fresh flowers everywhere including a red rose bouquet with over 100 roses. Water, cocktails, wine service . On Point ! We always bring our own wines to share and we were aware of the $50 per bottle corkage. The service, like a marching band to your table. It was so long ago that I visited this restaurant, but it was a surreal experience. I was there with my mom and some of her friends. They were on a girl's trip for their birthdays. It was an all-around first for me but a memorable one for sure! The food was amazing; the service was amazing! It was all around amazing! read more

Whatever you do, order the lychee martini followed by their Jalisco cocktail. To start off the glazed prawns and walnuts are a must. The steamed sea bass always hits the spot. Couple that with the Ma Mignon and you can bet that you'll need a post meal nap. Every time I have come here the service is always top tier and the wait is never too long. Im looking forward to coming back for my birthday this summer since I live in San Diego now. read more

I just went to Mr. Chow today after having wanted to go for a couple years now. To me it has far more hype than substance. The food is definitely overpriced. It's kind of a shame to think I could've ordered takeout for $30-$40 and probably liked it more. Out of the 3 items I ordered Satay, house noodles, and filet mignon the satay was the best... the other 2 I would rather have my $100 instead. Another review I just saw wrote up a cat food like quality to the noodle topping lol kind of harsh but I can see why. The filet was tender but however it was cooked and being drowned in sauce defeated the purpose of ordering a high quality cut of steak. The restaurant itself has a very dated appearance. If I were to grade each category based on the overall cost... Food D, Ambiance C, and Service A. It's just my opinion but if a place is going to charge an average $100 per person it should be on point. Perhaps the most important question is would I go back and that would be a no. Even great service can't redeem subpar food. read more

This favorite high dining, chinesse Asian inspired cuisine, by Artist chef holds the art deco restaurant with ambiance set to delight your senses. The delicate big white Lillie's with the exotic scent alluring you in. The fine cuisine has a special menu with signature dishes such as the pungent chicken satay, lettuce wrap & green prawns. Rare fish that melts in your mouth. And more exotic dishes from seafood to meat! You have to order the infamous lychee martini or dazzling champagne bar cart, a rose! The place has great service with attentive waiters to meet your needs. read more

The service was hands down nothing short of mesmerizing. I haven't had service that overwelmingly awesome in a very long time. Every single person that worked there had a bright shining smile for me. From the hostesses to the busters. Ramon was absolutely amazing. Accommodating and super friendly. There was not one snotty worker in the entire restaurant. And to a guest that means everything. And I always thought that the place was all show with mediocre food. Boy was I wrong. My brother loves his lamb. He orders it everywhere. The lamb here was absolutely delectable. I saw him sucking on the bone. My favorite was the lobster. It was perfectly cooked in this delicious sauce. Even the damn broccoli, which was a side dish was really good. However, they do need a better cheese cake. It just didn't compliment the rest of the meal. read more

Loved it! Daughter in law, who lived in China, had read about it and wanted to try while visiting LA. Everything was excellent - service, setting, menu. We did the family style Peking Duck. You got appetizers and other entrees as they cooked the duck to order - told it would take an hour. The time flew by - hand pulled noodle app was fantastic. Drunken fish entree was "authentic" per daughter in law. Duck was hand carved table side & was large! It was delicious and more than the 3 of us could eat. Pricey but worth it! read more

Really dislike Mr. Chow the man, but the food is fine and the staff is excellent. Mr. Chow has a chip on his shoulder about America and Americans (see the documentary). I would've preferred not to support this place after watching his movie, but it was already booked. And we did have a nice time. But we vote with our dollars. And I don't really like giving money to people like this fella. read more

Mr Chow - Does this look appetizing? I say "no." - Chinese Near Me - Beverly Hills, California

Mr. Chow is a very famous and polarizing restaurant that also has a lot of pop culture influence in LA. They have many other locations: Vegas, Miami, London, New York, and a few others. The inside is like a mid 90s time capsule and pretty much everything else is from the same time period, as well. When we sat down, they brought us a food menu and also a merch menu. You can really tell what sort of place you are in when you are handed a merch menu before you even order your food. They are well known for their high prices and great service and even though it is a bit retro I really did enjoy the 90s aesthetic on the inside. They offer valet parking for $15 but honestly street parking or garage parking is easy to find in Beverly Hills. Our server was very polite and attentive, as well as the rest of the staff we encountered. All food items are brought out on a silver plate and served directly in front of you. It's almost a time capsule of how fancier restaurants in bigger cities in the 90s would serve their clients. One of the biggest issues I had with our dinner was the pricing. It is ridiculously expensive for fairly small sized portions. I honestly felt a little hungry after I finished dinner so this is not this sort of place I would go to after a long hike or game. I had to start off with a Chicken Satay because it is one of their most famous dishes, and honestly, I can see why. It is expensive for $16 per chicken satay but the flavors were tremendous. Some of the best I've ever had. We also ordered the Ma Mignon and Sweet and Sour Pork. The mignon was fairly good, although not nearly as good as a filet mignon @ Mastro's or one of the other high quality steakhouses in the area, but the pork was exceptionally good and something I would definitely order next time. It was crispy on the outside but soft on the inside and just had great flavors. The desserts were two cheesecakes and a fruit tart so I ended up passing on those. Overall, a really nice experience, some pretty good food, but really unfair pricing. I get that Beverly Hills rent is expensive, but I don't believe that should be taken out on the diners. read more

Amazing food and service!! Staff are always polite and very attentive. Place is very beautiful and always spotless I recommend to anyone looking for a nice late dinner. read more

We had family from the other side of the world that wanted to go here and so of course l obliged their wishes. The service was phenomenal but the cuisine was completely underwhelming and lack luster! Come hungry leave hungry. The decor is nice for a one and done. The one in Vegas which didn't surprise me closed. If you light your cigars with hundred dollar bills then this is the place for you! Anyway the family said they loved it but tbh l know they were disappointed. read more

Go for the service. Go for the friendly professional wait staff in white jackets serving food on large domed platters. Go for the the slight throwback to the 80s/90s. Go to say you've been. But I wouldn't go for the food. It's pretty mediocre and I've had better for a lot less while sitting on my couch. It's very expensive. But it's still a good time with friends. Valet parking, but there is plenty of lot parking in the area that is cheaper. read more

I've been coming here for over 40 years and it's simply always excellent quality meats your expectations. Never disappointed with the meal. It's a great place to do family style and share different plates. It's also a great place for family celebrations or simply just enjoying a great meal. I usually go there at least once. Or twice a month if not more. Food is extremely fresh and innovative and you will definitely find a fan favorite that you will enjoy. The service is on point and the staff is extremely friendly. They know me by name probably only because I come in quite often. I've had the pleasure of bringing three generations of my family to Mr. Chows on a regular basis. The ambience is napkins and tablecloth's, which is truly deserving for fine dining like Chows. They have an excellent bartender, who will definitely not disappoint you. Again, I promise you'll find the service to be top notch on point, and very attentive read more

I've been wanting to try Mr Chow since I've lived in LA and I have to say, I was pretty disappointed. The food is nothing special and way overpriced. The restaurant itself is small and could definitely use a facelift. The only reason I gave it three stars is because the service was top notch. The servers are some of the best I've experienced. But even with the great service, I don't plan to return and I would not recommend. read more

There are two ways I could rate Mr Chow -- food and experience. I will start with the latter. If you've never been, and money is no object, go! It's a Beverly Hills staple and plays the part of glamour and wealth well. The waiters are in tuxedos, the tables are covered in white linen, and the serving platters are silver plated. The food and drinks are also very good. In some respects, it is very traditional Chinese food but taken to a higher level. I would be remiss, however, if I did not warn of the tiny portions. All in all, I recommend giving it a try. It's a fun experience. read more

Excellent service and high prices. The food by and large has turned to garbage. Their costly duck dish has duck that is grossly overcooked and burned. Also looks like it a week old. Not worth eating. The vegetable fried rice is never fried at all. Just some white rice with a couple of beans tossed in to pretend. Worthless. They try to push the idea of a family meal at $119 per person which is nuts. Go elsewhere for Chinese food which will be far better for far less money. read more

For years of celebrating the family special events from birthdays to anniversaries the food is always on point and leaves us wanting more.

Well bless their hearts, Mr. Chow is still out here masquerading as "fine dining," hoping nobody notices the emperor's clothes fell off sometime around 1985. This so-called restaurant is less a culinary destination and more a taxidermied relic of the good old days--propped up on reputation alone, like a faded Hollywood starlet clinging to her press clippings. We went in for Peking duck, the dish they're supposedly famous for. Except--plot twist--the duck comes with a minimum of three people at $128 a head. Their website doesn't bother mentioning this, of course. When we politely declined to fork over nearly $400 for dinner for two, we were treated like intruders at a private club. Now, about the drinks: two sad little mocktails and a bottle of water for fifty bucks. A "virgin Bellini" and a "virgin Mojito," though nothing about them suggested life had ever passed through. Flat, tasteless, and served in glasses so cheap I half-expected them to crack in my hand. Not a garnish in sight, no effort whatsoever. For $25 a pop, you'd think they could at least wedge a lime on the rim. The décor? Imagine a plastic Hollywood veneer that hasn't been updated since Reagan was in office. Laminated menus. Soulless lighting. The vibe of a budget nightclub trying to cosplay as high society. The service? Nonchalant at best, hostile at worst. And speaking of hostile: on our way out, the maître d' decided to make things personal. When I explained that charging for three meals when there were clearly only two of us was stupid, he snapped back that I was stupid. Yes, you read that right. An employee at this "fine dining" establishment insulted a customer to their face. (Side note: halitosis isn't exactly the secret sauce of hospitality either, friend.) Tables sat empty, the energy was hollow, and I left with the distinct impression that Mr. Chow is running on fumes, living off nostalgia, and praying the tourists don't look too closely. Final Verdict: 0 out of 10. If you want overpriced mediocrity wrapped in attitude, by all means, pull up to the $20 valet. Otherwise, Beverly Hills has far better ways to waste your money. read more

Nice atmosphere and very good food not cheap but worth the place They are always busy you need to make a reservation in advance

Where do I begin? This so called fusion Chinese food or whatever they serve is a disgrace to every restaurant in the world 1. Shark fin soup- this is basically Chinese buffet quality sea food soup with not so fresh crab meat. The fake shark fin which is mung bean noodle was hard to eat. 2. The lobster noodle- lobster was dry. Noodle was a mess of ball. Only flavor was garlic. 3. Bakchoy- this is just beyond sad. Overly cooked and small and bad quality bak choy 4. Sea bass- never tasted such rubber like sea bass. No flavor 5. Shrimp- i don't think thumb nail size is worth $60 6. Fried rice- even street vendor can do a better job. Never seen fried rice with rice sticker together like rice ball. Overall, over priced, bad taste, and lower quality than even cheap Chinese buffet. Pathetic read more

The only reason people write crappy reviews for Mr Chow is bc they don't understand why it's so expensive. Quality, the quality of the food is always top notch. Been eating at Mr Chow since I'm a kid 50 years. Here and in Nyc. Now we bring our son who has been going since he was about 6 years old. It is his favorite Chinese food resturant. In fact he will not eat any other Chinese food. He's 19 now and he is super into his health. Most the dishes Mr Chow are not made with tons of oil etc. It's extremely clean food. You will never feel sick after eating there. We just got home from a Xmas eve dinner. It was super fun. The place was so jumping so packed. If it sucked why were people pouring out the front door, so Mr. chow deserves a 5.0 yelp review not 3.0 just the most ridiculous ever. None of the dishes are bad so just order what you dig. You will not be disappointeded. Just be prepared to pay a lot for dinner and expect to like your meal. Remember it was worth it. Life is worth enjoying we have one! read more

Mr. Chow's is a class act and the food never disappoints me. The service is impeccable and you're always taken care of dining in this place. Great place to people watch. Love the vibe too. I met Mr. Chow at the Beverly Hills City of Chambers meeting. Very interesting eccentric man. He is definitely the pioneer for bringing Chinese cuisine up to a classy creative flare artistic level! Please DO NOT embarrass yourself and ask for chopsticks here LOL! It's not that kind of place. read more

It really is a shame, I wanted to love it but sadly I didn't at all. I came here 11 years ago and back then, it wasn't great in my opinion so reading other people's recent experiences came as no surprise even though I was hoping it would have been different 11 years later. Sure, I sat next to Jessica Alba ... etc ... and TMZ is always outside, so I thought oh, the food must be great here. What's important to me when it comes to dining out whether it's fine dining, Supper clubs, hole in the walls, food trucks, street food etc is how the food actually tastes. I was very confused by the tastes and flavours of the dishes. Not only was the taste absolutely nothing like a Chinese cuisine and I can understand this maybe more of a Westernised version of it, but certain meat such as chicken tasted fake? I really was not sure what I was even eating. For the prices that's being charged and for the quality of food, sadly I never went back again. read more

Everything about this place is dirt. Customer service isn't bad. Everything else: food, ambiance, odor, and price is straight trash. I'll eat Panda Express every day of my life before dropping $500+ for this garbage. I'm never one to complain about food anywhere let alone leave a review, that's how disgusted I am. They need to shut down immediately. It's a shame to have such an expensive dining experience for it to be like this one. read more

*** Friday night at Mr. Chow was packed ... *** Pandemic? What pandemic?! Filled to capacity. This place was def bustling with folks inside and outside. Reservation days prior is def necessary. All the food was good to very good. The glazed prawns were my fave and the roasted duck was really very interesting. It's served w/ super thin tortillas, smokey brown sauce & veggies on side. So you basically make duck street tacos with this. All that said, combined to make tasty finger food. No complaints wrt to the prix fixe menu offering. Even our drinks (martinis) pretty much on point. Our servers were all personable and attentive, yet it took way too long for each course to be served. 30-45 mins between servings is not reasonable?! There is only so much chit chat & drinks I can do. [ Wait, did I say there's so many drinks I can do? Hm, that means I really must've been irritated. ] It is great that Mr. Chow is busy, yet speed it up! *** I'll try Chow again but service questionable. *** read more

Yes this place is amazing. I mean who wouldn't want to pay $32 for a cup of Corn and Crabmeat soup. Yeah...

I sat outside in the patio area. It was nice, but it was on the sidewalk. They do have music. The service was great, and the servers were very prompt and nice. The food was sub-par, and the next day, I was extremely gassy. I wouldn't recommend what I ordered. read more

I always appreciate a fine dining experience, and Mr Chow delivered on all aspects of service. Known worldwide, this restaurant has become a place where many celebs frequent. We made reservations way in advance, and were allowed to choose whether or not we wanted to sit inside or out. We opted to sit indoors for a more intimate setting and the entire interior was clad in a classy black and white fashion. Once we sat down, we were immediately greeted by servers that placed our linen napkins in our lap, and the champagne cart. My table got a bottle of the best champagne and wine I've had to share. We opted for the Mr Chow semi prix fixe menu where we chose 4 first courses and 4 of courses, and it was plenty of food for six. Fried lotus root, seaweed, and walnuts (5/5): A delicious "complimentary" starter for the table. Loved the texture and flavor of the seaweed, and the sweet glaze on the walnuts. Chicken Satay (3/5): The chicken was very tender and moist, but I felt like it was lacking in flavor. Scallion Pancake (3/5): More like a scallion puff. It was good, but definitely had better. Lobster Shumai (4/5): Juicy mini shumai. I enjoyed the flavor of these, but comparing this to the shrimp and pork shumai you see at dim sum restaurants, the size was disappointingly small. Squid Ink Rice Noodles (5/5): Very unique play on chow fun noodles. I enjoyed the sauce on the noodles and liked how there were pieces of squid inside too. Four Color Cauliflower (4/5): Heartwarming and authentic Chinese flavors. The cauliflower was sautéed in a starchy garlicky broth that was simple and flavorful. Sautéed Rice (4/5): Solid tasting fried rice. Nothing special, but a good way to soak up leftover sauce (use their chili sauce, it's delicious). Green Prawns (4/5): Spinach purée gives off the vibrant green color of the sauce. The prawns were perfectly steamed and had good flavor. Ma Mignon (5/5): Loved the crust on the meat. Super flavorful and the meat was served medium rare. Velvet Chicken (3/5): I would pass on this one, just because I prefer dishes with more oomph, but if you want something lighter with clean flavors, you would enjoy this. Steamed Sea Bass (5/5): Hands down my favorite dish of the night. The sea bass was super tender and had the most incredible taste. The ginger cilantro sauce complimented the fish so well. Also, I tried sips of the lychee and espresso martinis and they were both phenomenal. You can't go wrong with any of their drinks. Now I've had a lot of Chinese food in the SGV and while I can attest to many of those restaurants tasting better and are at a more affordable price point, I think the food here elevates traditional Chinese dishes, and spreads the Asian cuisine to a higher clientele. Overall, I had an incredible time at Mr Chow and I want to give a shoutout to every single staff member working at the Beverly Hills location. They were all super welcoming, personable, and attentive. From the hostess to our server, everyone made our time here memorable. Although the food is quite expensive, I think the price you pay for the service and ambience is one to remember and acknowledge. read more

It pains me to complain about this restaurant I've been going to since I was a kid; however the food is just not as good as it used to be. I went lastnight with a group and we tried half the menu, the crab soup was really fishy and not good, the chow noodles had no flavor, the crab fried rice no flavor , the only decent thing was the chicken skewers. Our server was really lovely and fun and the Sancerre was delicious as well as the infamous liche martinis. I hope they go back to the og food quality read more

I was so disappointed by my visit to Mr Chow!!! The ambiance is what I was expecting from a overcrowded venue, being very noisy which can be appealing sometimes. The service was very unpleasant as very pushy with no attention to details except for the dessert course who was handle by a more mature server with an old school style, definitely making a difference. The cocktails were well done which was a good start, unfortunately... The food was the worst part of it. Mr Chow noodles were good nothing more, same for the dumplings. The gambler duck was dry and not inappropriately seasoned, the crispy pork was probably the most terrible of all, it was practically no meat inside, just flavorless and careless preparation. Basically each dish was saying "we don't care" all over it! As a dessert, we had orange marinated in a liquor that was great to clean our palate after such bad food. I think this place is just leaving off from his reputation and does not care anymore. That is really too bad considering the history and passed culture of such an institution. read more

Wouldn't visit on Valentine's Day but maybe a regular day is okay. I was so upset with my experience I forgot to leave a review and it was probably best that I did not at the time. Most restaurants on Valentine's Day only offer 1 menu to reserve but there are a few who give options. When I stumbled upon Mr. Chow, it gave me an option for regular menu on Valentine's Day menu so I selected that option for 2 couples. When we arrived everything was good so far. Valet guys were nice as well as the front desk. We waited to be seated for no longer than 10 minutes but were given the Valentine's Day menu which was $200 per person & came with a complimentary glass of champagne that I couldn't drink at the time. We were pretty displeased with the starting price but decided to stay and see if it would be worth it. Let's just say we were not impressed with ANY of the courses that were brought out not even the dessert. I think we would've enjoyed it better had we actually been able to order whatever we pleased as opposed to a curated menu. I can honestly say if I had the opportunity to order from the every day menu I wouldn't have ordered anything that was on the Valentine's Day menu. read more
