Spicy Chicken Dumplings

This place was delicious. The pork & shrimp shumai were large! The beef chow fun was perfect! Came here on the weekend just in time for happy hour. Dark, dim, moody, red and black decor. Wasn't crowded . Servers were attentive but hey! We didn't get our fortune cookies at the end of our meal like other tables ...not nice! We tipped well too! Did they run out? Boo! I'll let it slide this time because I was too stuffed to eat some lol

Cozy, dimly lit space with a private room, bar seats, and traditional dining room. We ordered hot and sour soup, mini pan fried beef soup dumplings (would probably opt for the traditional pork xiao long bao next time), pork buns, pork and shrimp shumai, green beans, chicken chow Mein, and Mongolian beef. Everything was excellent! Great bite to the green beans, excellent seasoning on the noodles and beef without being excessively salty. Pork buns definitely were the winners! Waiter was extremely kind! He forgot to bring out our drink orders, but he was incredibly apologetic at the end of the meal and it didn't dampen our experience at all!

Great shop for authentic dumplings! This spot was on my list for some time & im so happy I came recently The service was kind & attentive. Our server was knowledgeable about their menu & different dishes! We ordered family style & I loved they had a "lazy Susan" in the middle to share everything we ordered! We came with a party of four with reservations. We were sat quickly. The areas were clean and the food incredible!

Came here for brunch on a Sunday, and for a restaurant that is this far out of Chinatown or SGV, it was pretty decent dim sum. Unique items were the Korean BBQ soup dumplings here, a different twist on the XLB. We had the Spare ribs, BBQ Pork Bao, Scallion pancake, and some Shu mai. Its a convenient location if you live Mid City to get some dim sum

The food was good, the dim sum had a sweet savory sauce that i loved! I would say the bok choy had a more simple flavor but still good. The customer service was good too. It's a cute casual spot to grab some lunch or dinner! They have lunch specials during the week which is great.

Trip up to LA and decided to try this place. It's alright. Nice looking interior, dimly lit, well decorated, friendly staff. We came around 4:50 pm on a Sunday and it was not busy. Street parking. We lucked out and caught a parking spot right next door, but I could tell that parking could be a challenge if busy. We started with the garlic edamame and walnut shrimp. Both were good, though the edamame was a but syrupy. We then went with some dim sum. Juicy Roulette - good, soup type dumplings. Juicy Pork Dumplings - very good. Crystal Shrimp Dumplings - ok Steamed BBQ Pork Buns - good. Sesame Balls - good. Service was friendly, but a little slow and sparse. We had to ask for our check and then had to walk it up to the front to close out as no one came by to pick it up. Seemed to be a trend throughout the meal. Too few check ins, too many flag downs for service. We do not live anywhere close to this joint, so not a 35 mile special trip kinda place for us, but if you're in the neighborhood...

We come here for lunch all the time and we love it and we always get the same stuff (see pics) Food is tasty, affordable lunch options and big portions. Staff is attentive and friendly. Parking can usually be found on the street (metered) if you look for a few min. Highly recommended!

I came back for a 2nd time, this time on my birthday! Because I remembered loving it so much the first time. However, it was terrible service this time :( and on my birthday nonetheless. So it was very disappointing. There weren't that many people, they sat us down and we hoped to get taken care of quick. The 3 guys kept walking right by, started seating more people, bringing them water, taking their orders. Yet I never even got some water. I was politely staring at them hoping that they would make their way to our table. (Mind you, we weren't even tucked away in the corner or anything) Yet, they never came. It really almost felt like they were ignoring us. 25 whole minutes passed until we were able to actually stop a guy to tell him we are ready. Who knows how long it would've taken if we didn't flag him down. The food was good at least. However, now we were short on time so we couldn't order as much as we'd like. Not the best birthday lunch ;(

Had a wonderful lunch with my family here today - wasn't able to try the weekday lunch specials menu which also looks great - it's only available weekdays 12-3pm FYi for future reference! The juicy pork dumplings (soup) are a great start to have and we enjoyed the shrimp wonton soup and the salt and pepper shrimp appetizer. The shumai were also very juicy and a nice size! We had a nice table with the window in the front which was nice and bright and gave ambiance. The wait staff was attentive and checked on us frequently to ensure we had all we needed at all times. Everything was made to order but out within 5-10 minutes hot and fresh. Come check them out!

This place seems to have a lot of reviews on yelp so I had it bookmarked and was pretty excited to come. Unfortunately, it was somewhat disappointing. First and foremost, it's located on a corner of a busy street and difficult to find parking. As far as I know it was all street parking. Inside ambience is cute, has a traditional Asian feel and is dimly lit. Also has a full bar. Ordered a bunch of food, including fried pork dumplings, and the rainbow dumpling roulette, both which were very disappointing. As you can see from the picture of the rainbow dumplings were dry and not juicy like soup dumplings should be. Scallion pancake and string beans were oily. Best part was the crab and shrimp fried dumplings. Those were delicious. Their egg tarts were also great. Waiter was kind enough to give us sweet pork buns and two extra egg tarts, which was very much appreciated. However, this place seemed to gimmickey and for a true Asian who has had her share of pork dumplings in her life, at this place is nothing to write home about.

I was looking for something light for lunch since I was still a little full from my dinner from the night before. I forgot Bao was near the area and I wanted to try this place from the reviews. I was skeptical at first due to the location. I wouldn't think I would say 'Hey let's get dim sum in WeHo' especially when you have OC and Westminister. I really enjoyed the hot and sour soup. It had a good spicy kick and not much of the sour taste. The broth had a good color and the right thickness. The hot and sour soup is definitely authentic. Don't skip this if you dine here. The shui mai is packed with pork. It definitely exceeded expectations and can go head to head with other good dim sum places. The har gow is made of a thicker layer so it doesn't break easily when you pick it up. The thick layer did not take away the flavor of the shrimp and filling. The soup dumpling is a hit or miss for me at any dim sum location. It's either the outer layer is too soft that it breaks easily or too thick that it takes away from the flavor. The worst is when there isn't enough broth inside the dumpling. For Bao, the outer layer texture was good but unfortunately there were a few that stuck to the foil cup so some of the meat filling fell out. There wasn't much broth in most of the dumpling so I was a little disappointed. I usually put a little vinegar in my broth but there wasn't any at the table. The staff was very helpful and came over a few times so I didn't want him to make another trip for my vinegar request. I love ordering chicken feet when I'm at a dim sum restaurant and some places, the chicken feet lacks the bean sauce or is just meh where it's just too soggy. Bao did a good job with this dish. It had a lot of flavor and was not soggy at all. Definitely get this dish if you like chicken feet. Overall, I give Bao a 3.75. The service was awesome and the food definitely met expectations and really does compete with traditional HK dim sum restaurants. If there was a blind test, I would think the food is from OC area. Only reason I can't give it a higher rating is due to the price. The food was really good but the value to me was not there when dim sum is supposedly a cheap eat. I still think folks should try this place if they are in WeHo and craving for dim sum or something light and do not want to drive to OC. This place is a good alternative. This is located in WeHo so expect parking to be a pain especially during weekends where street parking is hard to find.

Orange Spicy Chicken

One of my friends recommended this restaurant for our lunch break. We came over here during the week to try out their lunch special. I ordered the orange chicken and my buddies as well. We also got an order of the pan, fried chicken dumplings, and let me just say I am blown away by the quality of the meat and the presentation of the food. The orange chicken is so delicious and seasoned so well. The pan fried dumplings are super big and filling and they are super delicious and have a nice consistency. I definitely recommend this place to any families or couples trying to come out for a nice lunch or dinner spot definitely hits that Chinese food craving!

Do you have valet parking? If yes, what is the charge? Thank you.

No valet. Only street parking.

Hi I see that you listed having vegan options. Which food items can be made vegan?

They have veggie dumplings, Stirfry veggies, they have a 'chinese' menu with 2-3 vegan options, and they have Chow Fun with Veggies that's vegan.

How is the parking situation?

There is metered street parking and on weekends they have valet

They don't have shrimp rice noodle roll?

I doubt it , as this is a strictly Chinese restaurant. No Thai or Vietnamese items on the menu ..

Are they open?

yes we are open from 11-8 for take out only at the moment.

Is the full menu and all dim sum options available all day or is lunch time more limited?

The full menu is available all day. I don't get there for lunch often, but the last time I was there at lunch, some items were specially priced.

What is happening with reservations? I never used to have problems but lately it seems ever Friday & Saturday is completely booked from 6:30 to 8:30. And this is for a month in advance! Is that possible?

What time is happy hour?

Monday - Friday 4PM -7PM

Do they have push carts or is it table service?

Table service only.

Is food made to order? Can they make things without garlic and onions as I'm allergic?

The dim sum is, of course, made ahead and steamed to order. I assume that if you order some stir fry items, you could request that onions and garlic be excluded, but be aware that both are used freely in both Chinese cuisine and sauces and the… Read more

This will be my first time coming here and I have a party of four. If we're big eaters, how much should I expect to spend?

Store was clean and service was fast, which made the stop easy and convenient. Only thing to keep in mind is there's no dedicated parking. There was also complimentary rice and jasmine tea. My favorite dishes were the bean curd with oyster sauce and Singapore rice noodles. The bean curd was nicely hot, but I wish the cubes were larger. I also liked how the rice noodles had a hint of peppery spice. The other dishes were solid, but I didn't try a few. For example, my table finished the pork chop with spicy salt the quickest. Portion sizes were adequate for me, but I wish there was slightly more given that our table included many people. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. Regardless. it tasted great as it came right off the pan. The pork fried rice was delicious with a savory flavor that didn't seem overpowering. I thought the juicy steamed dumplings were the weakest dish out of our whole order. There wasn't enough flavor and heat from the broth. It's been sitting on my saved list for a while, and honestly, this turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The space itself is bright, clean, and welcoming with warm woody tones throughout. Casual setup where you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had already looked through the menu beforehand, so the real challenge was narrowing down what to order for one person. I failed at that... and I'm very happy I did. Started with the Pig Ear Salad 滷豬耳朵. Braised thin sliced pig ears dressed with soy sauce, chili oil, sesame oil, scallion, and cilantro. OMG. So good. Tender, flavorful, perfectly braised, with that satisfying chewy texture done right. Also got the Fried Peanut Salad 五味花生 with garlic, cilantro, scallions, vinegar, and Thai chili. Super crunchy, bright, refreshing, and honestly addicting. I added a cup of the Hot & Sour Soup 酸辣湯 too. Organic tofu, beech mushroom, carrot, bamboo, woodear mushroom, and egg. Super comforting with a really balanced tang and peppery heat. Not overly thick or heavy like a lot of Americanized versions can be. Exactly the kind of soup you want during a long travel day. For noodles, I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles 擔擔麵. Sesame-peanut sauce, cucumber, cilantro, crushed peanuts. Delicious on its own already, but I ended up adding some of the fried peanuts from the salad into the noodles and it became even better. Then the Three Cup Chicken 三杯雞 with sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine, and Thai basil. I do wish it had a little more wok hei, but overall the flavor was still really comforting and savory. Extremely good with rice. Had a glass of Gewürztraminer alongside everything, which paired surprisingly well with the spice and aromatics. Their wine list leans more organic / natural wine focused, which felt very LA in a good way. Ended up sitting at a high top next to one of the managers and had a great conversation throughout the meal. She ended up hooking me up with the Traditional Shaved Ice 傳統刨冰 with grass jelly, red bean, boba, sweet potato balls, taro balls, brown sugar syrup, and condensed milk. I was already planning to order it anyway, and wow... I finished the entire thing. The brown sugar syrup was incredibly fragrant. Packed the leftovers to-go, and that ended up becoming my dinner after landing in San Francisco later that evening. Flight cancellation somehow turned into a really great food day.

I particularly liked their brown sugar milk team as it comes with boba and grass jelly. And their mochi was SO delicious. This would be a place my parents would enjoy a lot.
