PERFECT spot to hit before a concert at El Ray. Amazing ambiance with fresh plants everywhere, quick service, and delicious food. Affordable options too + vegan options!

Super cute ambience, lots of plants lots of things so many things so many places, a little overwhelming, a little overstimulating. Tables are very close together not a super great flow to the seating.. I would not call this feng shui. I had the teriyaki chicken bowl and it was delightful. Love the way the rice is cooked. Everything was flavorful and good. My friend had the beef curry bowl. It also was quite delicious. Definitely five out of five. We had a shrimp salad roll. It was basic nothing special. We also tried a butter cookie and a strawberry mochi cookie, and they were absolutely terrible, the mochi cookie seemed almost underdone, unless that was the goal, but the grit and the bitter left on your pallet was super unpleasant.. I would go back here to try other bowls.

Stopped by for lunch and immediately loved the vibe. I'm a sucker for a restaurant filled with greenery, and this place delivered plants everywhere, creating such a fresh and inviting atmosphere. The food was good, the portions were generous (come hungry!), and the menu had tons of options to choose from. Service was quick and efficient, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a solid lunch spot.

I think this is a reasonably priced spot with 11/10 ambiance! Super great choice for a casual, yet delicious meal. I don't think the vibes give off "Studio Ghibli" like some have been claiming but still gorgeous nonetheless. It has an abundance of plants, fairy lights, and feels very homey. The cookies were moist and the sashimi salad I had was very fresh! Definitely stop by if you're around the area!

Place has cool look with tons of plants and fountains. Also lots of choices on the menu. Prices were good for the amount. I enjoyed the food overall, but it wasn't as flavorful as expected. Dessert sample was okay.

What a little gem. Food is fantastic and the portions are generous. The atmosphere and all the plants/decor make you feel like you've been transported to a little hidden spot on vacation in some small town in Mexico when you're indoors. Sitting outside maybe Mexico City. Will be back, again and again!

What a cute place in LA. The portion is huge, the dishes are flavorful, and the place is cute. I liked everything about this place. I would definitely come back and try other stuff. They also have some vegan options too. People here are quick to respond. I high recommend.

A MUST TRY. Wow. from the service, to the plating, to the flavors, to the ambiance!!! I wish I could give it a 10/10. First, I absolutely LOVE all the plants everywhere, it's a beauty. Prices are reasonable when compared to the portion and quality of food. My whole family devoured their plates/bowls. Next, the presentation is awesome. The chef prepares delicious meals AND plates the food aesthetically. So colorful!! Honestly, I trust that you can get anything on the menu and be VERY satisfied. I wish this place was closer to my hometown in OC, but I would go out of my way to go back here!!

Still a great place compared to the fast food options in the area. Prices have gone up, like many other places, however. But considering it's self service and you are not obligated to pay any tips, coming here will automatically save you 15- 20%! So yes, I still high recommend this place!

This place is a perfect five stars. Can only go when I'm in the area but when I am, I never regret going here. The chicken bowl is 20 bucks but so worth it. They ain't playing. The mint lemonade is one of the best I've had. This place is all about quality in everything you order. Not only is the food amazing but what a cozy spot too. Beautiful foliage and cute places to sit. I love that they also sell plants. Theres also a book trade wall. The staff is super friendly and I always feel very welcome. Wish I lived closer. Can't go wrong with Yuko.

Place is so cute. Love the cascade of the green plants. Thank goodness for the heaters outside! They dont serve the food 2u so u pick up & u clean up after. I wish i could say i love the food. Orderd the chicken teriyaki. The chicken was rough. The teriyaki sauce wasnt glazed. The rice was dry not moist not soft. Salad was fresh but the dressing ok. The fried mochi cheese stick was really good. The fried tempura fish was soft not crispy. The wonton chips were crispy and tasty.

Dropped by for lunch after visiting the Tar pits, just a short 10 minute walk! The restaurant is tucked away slightly off from the Main Street and is quaintly decorated. It is a order and pay at the front and pickup your food when called kinda store. It is more of a fusion restaurant than Japanese, has some Korean and Viet influences in their menu. Fish plate - There was so much food on this plate. Salad was tasty with the typical Japanese vinegrette dressing. Pumpkin soup was tasty and good on a warm day. Roll was a spicy salmon sushi, but i think the heat comes from a kimchi than a spicy mayo. The dessert was parts of their cookies. The chocolate chip cookie was way better than their matcha one, the matcha felt less fresh or just more dry. Nice to try! Mint lemonade - This was more of a slushie than their regular lemonade which is more of a drink. Lemonade was nicely balanced sweet to lemon flavour and the mint added a refreshing punch to the mix. Would highly recommend!

Would Yuko Kitchen be able to seat a party of 5 or 6?

This is a small establishment. I don't recommend this restaurant for larger groups. There is some seating outside that may accommodate if it's available. Inside is not going to seat a large party.

Is the food made with all organic ingredients?

For the most part, yes. You could try calling the restaurant to confirm

    Are the cookies dairy free?

Not all of them but they do have some that are vegan.

Yes, mid- Wilshire location definitely dog friendly. Not sure about the downtown though!

However no one greeted us when we walked in so we just stood at the front for about 15 mins. (No exaggeration) with about 10 other people all standing around not knowing what to do or where to go. I walked up to the bar to talk to an employee and said we had a reservation at 8 and they said okay but then didn't seat us. It was about 8:30pm when I took it upon myself to seat us at the bar ourselves. We ordered. The food was pretty good. The veggie lasagna was just cheese and tomato sauce I was hoping for zucchini or some form of veggies in it but there weren't any. It was fun coz you could watch the chef prepare the food however he was picking it all up with his bare hands and we are pretty sure he was getting burnt a lot haha he seemed very sweet and friendly. I'm not sure if I would return to the restaurant. The impact wasn't really incredible. The rest of my party was not into it at all. We did have fun tho.

I got the skirt steak cooked medium rare -- flavor was good, but it was a little tough to cut. I think it would've paired even better with some garlic butter or chimichurri on the side. The pork chops were delicious and packed with flavor, but the spinach underneath was a bit too bitter for my taste. The mashed potatoes were creamy, soft, and comforting. We sat in the lounge area and it was perfect. Got the ham appetizer, the burger, fries, and the raspberry sorbet dessert. Everything was incredible, one of the best burgers I've had in Los Angeles. Service was also great. I even called about an hour after I got home because I started getting a scratchy throat and realized I didn't specifically ask if there were strawberries in the raspberry sorbet (I'm allergic and that was completely my mistake for not double checking before I chowed down) but the host that answered was super nice, I could hear in the background her double checking with a server, who then even double checked with the kitchen to make sure they were giving me the correct answer which I really really appreciate. Side note, no strawberries in the sorbet I'll most definitely be returning here in the future.

Sean Brock (James Beard nominee and winner, "The Mind of a Chef" Season 2 host, "Chef's Table"…read moreSeason 6 featured culinary artist, among other highlights) has taken his Southern US cuisine to Hollywood in a recently opened restaurant. Darling takes some of Sean's favorite dishes, many of which are grilled, and adds an Asian fusion touch. Will it succeed? Time will tell, but we very much enjoyed our experience at the restaurant. The first two things you will notice when entering Darling is the large shade tree settled in the center of the lounge area and the Hi-Fi DJ booth pumping out the vibes. I really liked the decor, it set a casual tone to the fine dining. And the music jammed, from World to R&B to Jazz with a couple pop hits mixed in, it set an enjoyable atmosphere without distracting from the conversation my wife and a couple old friends were able to have. Favorite dish? It had to be the Deviled Egg topped with Bluefin Tuna. It takes a memorable dish from my childhood and turns it, well, not into something my mom would make but so much better! (Sorry, no photos of the dish, our eggs evaporated before I got to my camera). The Wood-Fired Oysters and the Rockfish (which my wife ordered) were also highlights. Any misses? I thought I'd enjoy the Dry-Aged Burger somewhat more than I did. The patty itself is very large and thick making it highly fat-forward on the palate. A little bit of acid, say, a couple slices of pickle and/or tomato would benefit the dish well. All in all, my friends and I very much enjoyed our evening at Darling. Highly recommended!

There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.

We entered with three occupied tables, so I figured either the place was not booked or we were extremely early and could expect excellent service. We ordered water, took a minute for the waiter to come and take our order but that's ok, we still needed a little time. Then I let my son order for us. He was precise and we put everything in at once. The focaccia took about ten plus min to arrive... ok, that's a bit excessive but ok. Another ten minutes pass and the pizza arrives... it's a flatbread. Prosciutto and cheese. Decent flavor, heavy on the cure. Then we wait for our spaghetti and veal ravioli. The loud table next to us finally left... the other table next to us got their check and still we wait. And wait. And wait. We basically ran out of things to talk about. 30-45 min pass and my son was getting pretty irritated. He was trying to make this dinner perfect since it's his last while he lives with me... but nothing. I was starting to get full from the water soaking into the bread that I ate. I guess my son made serious eye contact with our waiter because I saw him giving an angry stare off into the distance and the waiter came and said something must have happened to the computer and that the order didn't go in or something. I said that we had waited long enough, please box up this pizza and we will be done. (It was now my other child's evening closing time). The food comes back boxed within seconds (well at least that's a priority). Then he asks if we wanted anything, no sir. Not here. The check came and my son paid and we kind of tipped. Much less than the 25% I customarily tip. My son felt so bad like he himself ruined my Mother's Day. None of this would ruin my day. It's not about a restaurant. It's about being so lucky to be their mom... but nevertheless it truly has saddened him that it wasn't this perfect evening he mentally thought it would be. The interior is ok... darker and has what seems like family heirlooms etc. I think it would have been nice enough if the service wasn't so poor. But the whole incident has tarnished anything that could have been seemingly charming. Such a bummer.

The service is also great, the waiter also came to check on us and made sure we had what we needed. The restaurant itself is pretty small but clean and inside a small shopping center. Parking situation isn't the best, but there's plenty of street parking. If you're in the area, I def recommend checking Jinkys cafe.

Many years later and I finally gave Jinky's a try to relive those damn great chili memories. I ordered a quart of chili because I may as well get as much of a dose as possible and had it delivered through DoorDash. Everything arrived intact, no spills. I'll sum it up...was it as great as CMS? I'd have to say no, but it did the job of a comforting bowl of chili. Half the fun of CMS was getting split bowls and Jinky's doesn't offer a great variety of chili options. Also, I don't recall Randy's chili being very oily and as you can see, this chili was very oily. I solved the oil problem once the chili cooled and oil congealed - it was very easy to spoon out. Another disappointment was that CMS used to come with a side of veggies and this secret pink sauce (I believe I was told it was Thousand Island sauce with Tabasco). That shiet was delish af! Jinky's provides you with garlic bread as a side. Eh, I don't know how I feel about garlic bread being paired with chili - cornbread may have been a better option. . The veggies and sauce would have been ideal. All in all, while the chili was decent, it did not serve as a substitute for CMS and the lack of choice in flavors was disappointing. The whole experience just wasn't there for me. I have to accept CMS is history and savor the memories of some of then best chili I have ever had. If you are a CMS fan though, I invite you to experience this for yourself and chime in as to how you feel Jinky's compares to the OG version.
