The other day I visited this café and wanted to share my experience. I ordered a soup, and unfortunately I don't remember its name, but it was honestly the most unique soup I've ever tried. It had a perfect balance -- slightly tangy, a little sweet, and just a hint of spice. It also had mushrooms and shrimp, which made it even more flavorful. Such an unusual combination, and something completely new for me. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere inside was very cozy, and the waitress was incredibly sweet and attentive, which made the experience even better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend visiting this place and trying that soup -- you'll be pleasantly surprised, I guarantee it. My daughter and I truly enjoyed their cooking. We ordered tom yum fries, lamb shank curry, pad-see ew, blue rice and mango sticky rice. Everything was so tasty and delicious. Server was friendly. Ample street parking. Restroom outside. BUT I was taken aback when our server handed the forks by the eating surface rather than the handles. I felt a pang of discomfort when I witnessed that. I had to ask for new set of forks.
Food was delicious and the server was nice. My favorite dishes were the Crying Tiger, Lamb Curry, and Pad Thai. We ordered 5 entrees and one appetizer for 6 people and that was a good amount of food.
When you're 100% Asian, but have been eating American food for the last five days bc of tight schedules on vacation, it's exhilarating to have top quality, authentic Thai cuisine finally! The shrimp pad Thai was perfectly prepared, seasoned and topped with several fresh large shrimps. Good quantity = yummy leftovers.

The drink and food took a while despite not many customers being there (around half hour wait). Came around noon on the weekend. Food was so-so in quality. If you have mild Thai craving and you aren't very picky, I think this spot could be up your alley. Thai tea is really too sweet - not up my alley. The Matcha Taro Milk was not good either. I got their mild TomYum and it was not worth it; the vegetables (such as the bell pepper) was chopped so large I wonder what is the point of having it in the dish and the protein was just lacking in flavor, the spice was just there to be spicy without much depth. The beef bowl was really disappointing; the beef tasted dry with lacking of flavor with a sprinkle of generic furikake and an egg that looks quite messy. We each only ate about 25% of the food and didn't take the rest to go. Unfortunately, it didn't fulfill either of our Thai food craving. I was craving Thai food after a long work week, so I got pickup at Mee Dee. Pickup was fast, and soon enough, I was ready to dig in. Most of the dishes were pretty good: I especially liked my Massaman lamb curry with blue rice: I'd never had lamb in Thai cuisine before, so this was a first! Very tender and generous portion of lamb shank, all in a creamy coconut curry. It was hearty and comforting! Other decent dishes included mango sticky rice (the mango was very ripe, sweet, and melted in my mouth), chicken satay (soft and juicy, although I would've liked a bit more charred flavor), and vegan curry puff (tender and flaky crust, but the lentil filling wasn't my cup of tea). My partner had pad see ew, and unfortunately, it was our least-favorite dish. It wasn't bad, per say, but it lacked any smoky flavor and had a strange taste to it that didn't taste like pad see ew at all. Wouldn't get this again. All in all, Mee Dee is a solid place for Thai food, and I'm glad I gave it a try!
My family and I created cheerful memories at Mee Dee Thai Kitchen (Los Angeles). [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ingredients are fresh; the service is fast and friendly; and the dining area felt clean & well-maintained.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food's flavor is not the most remarkable, but its food is fresh, very satisfying, and plated beautifully. I arrived on a Saturday (around 9:20PM). We were immediately helped. Our waitress brought a bright smile. She eagerly assisted us with our orders. I ordered the Thai Ice Tea ($5.45), Pad Thai ($17.55), Tom Kha Soup ($28.55 - Mixed Seafood Hot Pot Large), and Crab Fried Rice ($27.45). The Thai Ice Tea took two minutes and 22 seconds. The Pad Thai took five minutes and 24 seconds. The Seafood Tom Kha took seven minutes and 45 seconds. And the Crab Fried Rice took nine minutes. All the food arrived very quickly!! Amazing speed!!! Regarding taste, the Thai Ice Tea tasted bitter, milky, and smooth; it was my least favorite. The Pad Thai had very moist noodles (almost mushy) and a potent oily flavor; the Pad Thai had a very simple, wet flavor. Perhaps the Pad Thai would have tasted better if I'd increased its spice level. Thankfully, the Pad Thai's shrimp arrived large, plump, and fresh The Seafood Tom Kha tasted very fresh and satisfying. I enjoyed its hot, soft fish; sweet, plump mushroom slices; and fresh, plump shrimps, mussels & scallops. Its broth also had a delightful light, bright tang flavor. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy its bitter and grainy squid. And the Crab Fried Rice was very satisfying. This Crab Fried Rice tasted moist with the pleasant aftertaste of fresh crab. This rice's egg came very soft, and its generous shredded crab added a lovely layered texture. [[HIGHLIGHT]]If I had to nitpick, some portions of the rice came very salty. Thankfully, this saltiness didn't detract too much from this satisfying experience. Regarding ambiance, Mee Dee Thai Kitchen (Los Angeles) is comfortable. The location is very clean, the furniture is well-maintained, and its minimalistic decor had a lovely plant theme. The location had inside and outside seating; however, its bathroom is located outside. There are three flat screen tv's by its counter with english captioning. Also, I enjoyed its instrumental saxophone music in the background. If I had to nitpick, the location's ventilation could have been strengthened. The inside felt a little airy, but I also felt a lingering stuffiness[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Overall, I associate freshness, speed, and good service with Mee Dee Thai Kitchen (Los Angeles). Its flavors can be worked upon; however, the portions are satisfying, large, and decorated beautifully. My family and I had a very pleasant time. 4.5 out of 5

The hung lay curry is a unique item on the menu, I'd never had it before. It's more of a thick beef stew. Really good if you're not feeling traditional curry. I don't want anyone reading this to not dine here because of this review. It's not a bad Thai restaurant, it's just not the best Thai food I have had especially at this price point. They don't have Spicy Eggplant with Chicken here, my usual Thai dish. Instead I had the Pad Thai with Chicken and Shrimp ($21) and my friend had Pad Se Ew. Their preparation of the chicken and shrimp is excellent, but they don't give you a lot of it. Only 2 Shrimp for $25 with tax! Taste was okay--nothing outstanding. The presentation was excellent you can see in the photo. The Pad Se was okay too--nothing outstanding and lacking in vegetables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Atmosphere is fine and they have an outside dining area.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Bathrooms are outside in the back down a long double doored hallway filled with supply boxes. (Some women may want an escort.) Parking is free at meters on the street after 8 or at paid meters anytime. While I would not come back here, you may like the food so give it try--everyone has a different taste in what they like... The service was polite and efficient.
Wow! What a gem on the busy street of La Brea. We ordered the crying tiger, pad see ew, and hung lay curry. Everything was flavorful. The service was very attentive. A great discovery was the Hung Lay Curry - curry with braised pork, cashew nuts and ginger, a specialty of Northern Thailand regions. It was very comforting yet slightly tangy and refreshing with the hint of tamarind (which I am not usually fan of but wow, this dish was really complete with it). The best Thai curry I've ever had! I forgot to take a pic, so I am attaching the menu pic. The dish was exactly how this pic looks like. They have unique items like Tom Yum fried rice, chicken etc. Lots more to try!
The food is delicious. The quality of ingredients is savored at first bite. Everything on their menu is amazing. My favorite Thai restaurant in LA. The service is amazing. The owner is always there and takes care of us.
So, I don't eat a lot of Thai food, but I've eaten it in a bunch of places, and this place is really good. I started with a Curry Puff (chicken, caramelized onions and potatoes, hand-wrapped in a flaky puff pastry) which was super tasty. It also came out really hot, so give it a moment to cool off. Maybe think about how it being really hot means it's fresh. I also got a Thai Iced Coffee, which was super sweet, but then, it's supposed to be. If you're not into super sweet iced coffee, though, I suggest skipping this. Last, I got the Yellow Curry with chicken, which was also really good. The sauce was flavorful, and they used good chicken for it. I would've liked more chicken, but then I always want more chicken. Plus, this also has potatoes, onions, and carrots, and comes with blue rice, so it was a good meal. Oh, and I have no idea if the blue rice was good blue rice, I've never had blue rice before, but now I can't stop saying blue rice. Blue rice. As for the place itself, it was small and unassuming inside, nothing fancy, though they do have a nice outdoor courtyard. The staff were also nice. Finally, the parking. It's street parking, and if you go during the day, you can easily find spots on one of the cross streets as well as La Brea. All in all, this is my favorite nearby Thai place...for those occasions I want Thai food.
Thai food is my absolute favorite cuisine, so my expectations are always high. This place definitely did not disappoint. Came here on a Friday night, and it was relatively empty. Parking is street parking, but there was plenty on the busy street in front. Ordered the yellow curry with tofu, krapow moo krob with fried egg, and khao soi with beef. AMAZING! Loved every single dish. The pork was extremely crispy, the yellow curry was flavorful, and the beef was tender. Would DEFINITELY come again. Service was also great!

I wish it was better. The staff were really nice and accommodating, but the food just wasn't great. The Thai tea was beyond sweet and they couldn't adjust the sweetness. No adults in our group could handle the sweetness, but the two high schoolers in our group were fine with it. The Pad See Ew was probably the most disappointing dish. The noodles were too thick, and the flavor was strange. The people in my group did enjoy the Pad Thai though, so that's one thing that's safe to order here. And the midnight chicken is amazing!!!! That's probably the only thing I'd come back for. Also beware of the metered parking in front. It's a bus zone at certain times of the day, and you'll get a 300$ ticket in the mail if you park there at the wrong time. Yes, it happened to someone in our group. read more

Wow - hidden gem in the middle of LA. Strong recommend! We came here for a weekend dinner. Thankfully, restaurant has parking so didn't burn time circling for a spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is simple but energetic - outdoor seating shares a space with a bar, so there is a lot overflow energy and chatter in the best kind of way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food. We ate a lot because everything was great. Fried chicken, tom yum fries, Thai tea, beef khao soi, spicy green beans, ice cream, mango sticky rice. Thanks to an earlier Yelp Elite event that introduced me to Mee Dee Thai Kitchen, I decided to make another trip since I was working in the area. We eat Thai food often, but everything here--from the flavors to the service to the perfect execution of each dish--is on another level. The crispy pork is a must if you eat pork--so worth it. Wow, we were blown away by Mee dee Thai. Shoutout to Yelp for another great find. We really loved the extensive menu and clean/fresh ambience. It's so hard to find a good authentic Thai Place. We were a bit skeptical at first because we were the only ones there. However, we were thoroughly surprised and enjoyed every dish we had. On top of that, the owner was extremely kind and provided great service. She made sure we had everything we needed and always checked on us. We loved the authenticity and the special-ness of each dish. We tried a bit of everything and I can confidently say we loved it all. I don't think you can go wrong with anything TBH. Where has this been all my life? It's been a long time since I had a meal that really wow'ed me the way that Mee Dee did! Everything was so flavorful and rich. I must go back! I arrived close to 7 with a friend on a Tuesday night and the restaurant was nearly empty. It filled up quickly though as time went on. Everything looks amazing on the menu but we went with the Tom yum fries, khao soi with beef, and mee dee pad Thai. The portions were pretty big. The two of us shared everything but we couldn't finish and had to take a lot of leftovers home. PAD THAI: My friend said this was probably the best pad Thai he's ever had. This was for sure the best pad Thai that I've had in a long time. It came with a decorative egg net on top which I thought looked neat but didn't add anything flavor-wise. The noodles were insanely bouncy and full of flavor. We opted for "mee dee style" which includes both chicken and shrimp, according to the menu. Ours also had pork, which is something I don't normally eat. I tried it anyway and this was some of the crispiest, juiciest pork I've tried. I don't think you need to order it mee dee style tho. Just one protein will do. Overall, the pad Thai was definitely on the sweeter side but definitely delicious! KHAO SOI with braised beef skank: This was my first time trying khao soi and I was blown away. The beef was impossibly tender and the broth was rich and deeply satisfying. Order it! Tom yum fries: Ordered these because of recommendations on Yelp. They were bold and limey. We got them "mild" and they had the slightest spice to them. Mango sticky rice: Solid. I am a mango sticky rice maniac and I loved it. The mango was fresh and sweet. Although I tend to prefer a saucier mango sticky rice, I had no complaints. All of the food came out really quickly! Came here after LACMA Jazz Night and this was one of the only places still open on a Sunday. I got the seafood tom yum soup, which was good. Came back a second time and got khao soi, which was so fire! I didn't love the crunchy noodles all bunched up because it just melted into stale noodle in the soup, but other than that it was great. A little smaller of a portion which was fine with me because it's so rich. Staff are always super sweet and attentive! read more

I first learned about this place through a yelp event and I'm so grateful that it brought this restaurant into our lives. My friends and I love this as one of our favorite Thai spots in LA! It's a great family owned and run business. Finding parking on La Brea is not typically that hard. There's tables inside and outside. If you sit outside, they have heaters. We got there at 6pm on a Sunday and the place was completely empty. By the time we left at 7, the place was completely full and people were waiting for tables! I've had a good amount of Thai food, and this tasted so good. We started off with Thai iced tea, which was creamy and not too sweet, it was just right. Then we ordered chicken fried rice, chicken pad thai, and tofu pad see ew. Btw, I love that they have GF options. This was my first time eating Thai food in the LA area, but I was showing my friend around the area, and came across this cute place. The service was wonderful--our server was very kind and we got our food very quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We did come on a weekday around 2 or 3pm, so it wasn't too busy, but it was a nice spot to eat good food and catch up with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would definitely come again if i'm in the area. We parked about 5 mins away, walking distance, since there wasn't much street parking. It's located on a main street and there's no parking lot, so you'll have to find parking close by. I ordered curbside pick-up through their website and Toast app. It was easy to order and I arrived a little early and was told it would be ready in 5 minutes. No problem. When the lady (I wish I caught her name---I ordered at 5:08pm on 4/20/25) came to drop off our order, her energy and demeanor was so lovely, it made me want to come back and dine-in solely because of her. We ordered Pad Thai with crispy pork, Drunken Noodles with tofu and crispy pork (I asked that beansprouts be added as well), and a small Tom Kha Gai. The food was hot and fresh, very neatly packaged. The food was plentiful and they didn't skimp on the protein. My roommate ordered the Pad Thai asked that the spice level be mild and she said that it still had a kick. I like my food spicy spicy so I asked for it to be spicy but not extra spicy as I know Thai places don't play with their spice and it was the perfect spice level. Great taste. The ONLY reason for 4-star rating instead of 5 is because they got my order wrong. I ordered the a small Tom Kha Gai (I was so excited to try) but received Tom Yum (which I was not so excited about). The order was packaged and stapled shut so I didn't check and I should have but I am a little disappointed that I did not get what I paid for. The soup itself came hot and flavor was a good Tom Yum but it just wasn't what I wanted. I sent them an email regarding the incorrect order with photos as evidence asking for a refund for the item or an option to receive that item should I order next time so we shall see. If they reply and try to rectify the situation, I would be more than happy to change my rating to 5 stars because mistakes happen! UPDATE: They emailed me right away to rectify the situation! Mee Dee Thai Kitchen is one of the best authentic Thai food restaurants I've found so far in LA. The owner is so sweet and the service is amazing. It's located in a cute little plaza with multiple other businesses and the interior is cute and wholesome. We had the Pad See Ew, Braised Beef Shank, and Butterfly Pea Lemonade. I'm literally craving all of them just looking at my pictures as I write this review. There isn't a parking lot attached so I highly recommend parking in the residential areas if the parking restrictions fall in the hours that you go. read more

Took a friend out for her bday! She picked this place! Idk where their private parking was, but we found street parking and walked a block. When we got inside, majority of the tables were not cleared. We waited for somebody to show up from the back. After a few minutes, lady comes out, clears a table. I had the girls pick the dishes. 1. Tom yum chicken wings. 4 pieces $ $14.25. These were delicious!! Crispy skin and the dry rub of Tom yum! I wanted to ask if I could buy some to take home! I would have put it on everything! 2. Lamb shank mussaman curry. $27.45. This was #1 of the dishes! I was gnawing on the bone, the lamb was so tender! The curry so flavorful! Curry paired perfectly w the blue rice! 3. khao soi braised beef shank. $20.85. This came close 2nd to the lamb shank. Meat is tender! Sauce is yummy! 4. Mee Dee Pad Thai. $20.85. Your typical pad Thai. Sauce was too sweet for my taste. The presentation of the egg was beautiful. The proteins in this dish were superb! Two big shrimp, chicken and pork. The pork had the crispy skin on. The texture, to die for! The food was absolutely ON POINT! Amazing! The place got packed quick! All the tables started filling up and so many Togo orders and uber eats orders! There was only one person in the front and she was so stressed and busy. I mean literally, we could have just left. Which we didn't. I got up and went to the cash register to pay. I had to wait awhile, but I'm glad this place is busy, but service was ok. She was doing her best. Came here today after going to two other Thai spots that were closed due to the holiday weekend. We were just starving at this point. Street parking only. They had no customers inside or out which made us nervous. We sat outside, there was lots of shade and located right next to a bar/restaurant. My friend asked if he could order a beer next door and bring it to our table but they do not have a liquor license. Service was fast and friendly and the food was DELICIOUS!! We ordered Papaya salad, Chicken satay, Crying tiger, Pad Thai and Tom Kha soup. We had also ordered 3 vegan curry puffs but realized they had forgotten to bring them and we were already very happy and full. Everything was fresh and seasoned perfectly. Highly recommend. read more
