My friend and I used to go to the old Melrose location and were surprised to find that they have this new location. It is in the same plaza as Trader Joe's (caddy corner) so it was a bit hard for me to find because I didn't see their A-frame sign coming up the stairs. The location is tiny but they do have some tables to dine in. We sat outside and ordered via QR code and the food was brought out to us. We got the veg dumplings, noodles with smoked tofu, and the fish with yam. Generous portions but the flavor of the smoked tofu noodles were slightly different from the old Melrose location, still good but different. I really enjoyed the flavor and texture of the dumplings - this was my fav, and the fish was good as well. Not sure if they validate but I didn't check.

    Orange-Ginger Chicken with rice.

Horribly slow, but food is fantastic. Best chow fun noodles I've had in years. Manager is very kind and attentive.

If you're crazy a-BAO-t dim sum like me, you definitely have to check out @baodimsumhouse !…read more As someone who's super picky about dim sum, I think this spot has some of the BEST and most authentic dim sum in West LA, with an extensive selection of traditional dishes (pork and shrimp shumai, crystal shrimp dumplings, fried radish cakes, egg yolk black buns), as well as fun options such as the Juicy Roulette Xiao Long Bao set. I've been coming here for the past two years, and their quality is stayed consistently high, if not even improving! They also have an amazing cocktail menu (which is more unusual for dim sum spots) and weekday lunch special menu from 12-3 PM, which features select dim sum and traditional Chinese dish combos at VERY affordable prices (all under $20). Honestly, everything I've tried on every visit has been AMAZING, but I highly recommend asking your waiter for recommendations and specials, since I've been able to try so many new dishes that I probably wouldn't have ever ordered. Absolutely unacceptable…read more We waited 10 minutes to be seated in a restaurant that was at most 30% full. Then 20 more minutes before anyone bothered to take our order. After ordering dim sum, which is typically fast and casual, we waited 45 minutes with no food. At the 30 minute mark, we politely asked for an update. Fifteen minutes later, still nothing. No explanation. Just a half-hearted apology and no sense of urgency. Instead, a random dish we didn't order was dropped off as "compliments from the kitchen." A freebie doesn't fix over an hour of being ignored. We had a hungry 5 year old with us. After a total of about 75 minutes with zero food, we told the waitress we were leaving. Her response? "Ok." That's it. No apology. No attempt to make it right. Just indifference. We even left money on the table, not because anything was earned, but because we have standards, even if this place doesn't. If this is how they operate when the restaurant isn't even busy, I can't imagine how bad it gets when it is. Plenty of other places that actually value their customers.

We had the veg spring rolls which were crisp and filled with a good portion of veggie, and were not greasy. The mu shu duck was really good and came with 4 pancakes. I'd like to try their mu shu chicken next time. The fried rice with chicken and shrimp (and no pork on request) had several large shrimp and pineapple. It was not overly salty and I actually added a little soy sauce to spice it up a bit. The chicken with veg was the least favorite. This will definitely be my go to place for take out.

I quickly completed my errand at FedEx and went next door to Chef Ming's to peruse the menu. Upon walking in, I was first greeted by the smell of what promised to be a delicious meal, and the man behind the counter greeted us and motioned for us to take a seat at the counter. The restaurant was bright and clean, and as I looked over the menu, my stomach growled even louder. A friendly gentleman came in and stood near us, then began chatting with my boyfriend and me; he told us about their awesome lunch specials and said he's eaten here many times. Upon his recommendations we got one of orange chicken and one broccoli with beef - two classic Chinese dishes - can't go wrong! We ordered our food to go and the smell was driving me wild on the ride home. The orange chicken was perfect - not too sweet and the batter had the perfect crunch. My BF enjoyed the broccoli with beef and shared some with me. We were very pleased with our meals and definitely recommended Chef Ming's! Would definitely eat here again!

The music was set at the perfect volume--just enough to have us humming along while we made our way through four incredible dishes and a few glasses of wine. We started with the "skinny egg rolls," dubbed so as they are long and skinny. They arw perfectly crisp and light, giving lumpia vibes without feeling heavy or oily. Next were the wontons--I could smell the ginger before they even reached the table, and they absolutely delivered. Adding a spoonful of the homemade chili oil, packed with herbs and spices, took them to another level. Then came the noodles: thin, delicate, and full of flavor, topped with beautifully seasoned beef that tasted as though it had just come off the grill. At that point, we could have happily stopped--but the team highly recommended the pork entrée, and I'm so glad we trusted them. Every bite was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a beautifully seasoned crust, served with just the right touch of mustard to bring everything together. We cleaned the plate without hesitation. To finish, we shared the mango dessert, and it was the perfect ending. Sweet without being overpowering, every element--from the mango to the coconut and cream--shone through, with a subtle savory note that balanced it all beautifully. What truly made the evening unforgettable was the service. The staff were attentive without ever hovering, checking in at just the right moments, and the managers' thoughtful table touches made us feel cared for. Staff was attentive and kept things moving, which I appreciated. That said, at times it felt a bit more like a cafeteria than a sit-down restaurant, especially considering the price point. It's on the expensive side for what you get, so expectations were a little higher. The pork was the standout--easily the best part of the meal and worth trying if you go. Overall, glad I checked it out, but probably not a spot I'd rush back to with so many other options around.
