As a Brit in LA, there ain't no place like home for a banging Chinese but let me tell you - CHEF MING'S HIT THE SPOT! I've been loyal to another place for years, and recently saw a review (from another Brit) on TikTok so thought I'd give it a bash. I'm a VERRRYY picky eater, and a prerequisite of Chinese is no MSG which they do not use. The overall quality was exceptional. Each dish felt, looked and tasted healthy and fresh. The vegetables looked like real vegetables that were vibrant and full of colour. The eggplant was cooked to absolute perfection. The chicken was white meat, and not fried to smitherines or dripping in oil. It was all perfectly balanced in flavour. Even the lo mein noodles were high quality (should be called hi mein), and were the perfect softness without being mushy. I will mention that this food was delivered, and it traveled exceptionally well, so I can only imagine what it's like if you actually eat at the restaurant as the food comes directly out of the kitchen. Chef Mings is a solid place for Chinese take out. The menu is large and has just about every dish you could want, at a very reasonable price. We had the veg spring rolls which were crisp and filled with a good portion of veggie, and were not greasy. The mu shu duck was really good and came with 4 pancakes. I'd like to try their mu shu chicken next time. The fried rice with chicken and shrimp (and no pork on request) had several large shrimp and pineapple. It was not overly salty and I actually added a little soy sauce to spice it up a bit. The chicken with veg was the least favorite. This will definitely be my go to place for take out. read more

As I was walking to FedEx, I looked through the window to my right and noticed a man eating some scrumptious looking Chinese food and my stomach started growling. I quickly completed my errand at FedEx and went next door to Chef Ming's to peruse the menu. Upon walking in, I was first greeted by the smell of what promised to be a delicious meal, and the man behind the counter greeted us and motioned for us to take a seat at the counter. The restaurant was bright and clean, and as I looked over the menu, my stomach growled even louder. A friendly gentleman came in and stood near us, then began chatting with my boyfriend and me; he told us about their awesome lunch specials and said he's eaten here many times. Upon his recommendations we got one of orange chicken and one broccoli with beef - two classic Chinese dishes - can't go wrong! We ordered our food to go and the smell was driving me wild on the ride home. The orange chicken was perfect - not too sweet and the batter had the perfect crunch. My BF enjoyed the broccoli with beef and shared some with me. We were very pleased with our meals and definitely recommended Chef Ming's! Would definitely eat here again! read more

Xièxiè to Chef Ming and all the Ming providers of excellent Chinese food to go as well as using Corn starch instead of flour so this gluten intolerant veteran can enjoy dishes prepared the normal way without adjustments like your Lemon Chicken and the always GF Hot Braised Shrimp. What seems a bit pricey is really not with the two full entrees and a carton of white rice containing an ample amount of the lemon chicken and shrimp, I get 5 meals out of eating this delicious meal. Somewhat surprisingly near this area there are some very good French, Italian, Persian, Israeli and Middle Eastern restaurants, Chef Ming's is the best of the other Chinese Restaurants that have seen better days long in the past. read more

It's okay, I suppose I was expecting a bit more. Ive ordered the orange chicken from Grubhub ($29), which fine, gets a little soggy with delivery. So I thought I'd dine in (weekday ~6pm) to see if it'd be different, but nope still the same, the breading isn't crispy. I like that it is white meat though. So it's okay enough to eat if you're hungry or didn't cook. Dining in orange chicken is $24. Service is okay, although I dined in, my food was placed in take out containers just with a tray. They gave 1 napkin and 1 fork, I had my own personal water bottle. The ambiance is loud, bright lights with heavy metal clanking from cooking, so definitely more of a take out place than dining in, although they offer two sit down tables. It's BH so yes $24 Chinese food that is super-mid is on the cheaper end. I wouldn't come back to dine-in, but may do take out in the future and wouldn't order their soggy orange chicken again. If you'd like to get more bang for your buck, go to Fu's Palace a few blocks down. read more

The service was always questionable and they weren't ever kind to me. Plus those mailers on a door never tend to be something I go for. but the food is legit. The sweet and sour chicken (which i haven't had since I was a kid) was actually good. *Chef Ming's Does Good Things* This review is sooo long overdue... I've lost count how many times I've ordered takeout & delivery from Chef Mings Kitchen over the past 25 years. And just the fact they've been within the same corner complex on Olympic & Le Peer in Beverly Hills for so long, proves they're doing good things the right way. In the past there were times I'd order delivery once to 3x times a week. Seriously. Because their food is/was seriously that good & fresh. Even during my 10 year vegan career, not much changed for me as I always ordered the mixed steamed veggie plate with brown rice, veggie spring rolls & steamed dumplings too (yes there's a little egg in the coating of the rolls ;) And their veggie Lo Mein is pretty-pretty-pretty good too. What I'm always so impressed with is no matter what time & day of the week, my food is always delivered piping hot in record time from the same friendly gentleman. And for takeout my order is always ready when I arrive...and when I'd walk-in to order takeout, I can see them quickly preparing my food. And get this ~ they've never made any mistake with my orders ~ even for special requests. The restaurant is fairly small and there's not really anywhere to sit & eat. But I refrain from calling this place a hole-in-the-wall because it's always clean and its simple red & white decor is welcoming and works for me. They do lots of takeout orders and tend to get very busy so don't take it personally if they don't have time to chit-chat with you. But they're all very pleasant hardworking peeps. My favorite thing about Chef Mings is they have a "Healthy Menu" and all the food is steamed. My favorite item is the Steamed Fish & Veggies and during my non vegan days was & still is my go-to fave. I also love their Steamed Mixed Seafood Delight. And my wife digs it too. Parking Tip: the lot on the Olympic Blvd side of the complex is often packed like a can of sardines ~ especially during peak hours...but there's another underground parking lot on the S La Peer Dr side. Finally found my Chinese take out spot!! I called in my order and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes, which it was. It's located in a strip mall with lots of parking. There's one table outside with 2 chairs but I couldn't imagine eating there. Inside is just a counter with a few seats next to the cash register and the open kitchen. We ordered: - Mu Shu Duck (So good. Super flavorful, and a great mix of textures between the veggies and the duck. I'd go back just for this) - Chicken Lo Mein (Decent lo mein! Not as flavorful when eaten right next to the mu shu duck, but I ended up tossing our leftover mu shu duck on top of the lo mein which made it even better the next day.) - Steamed Vegetable Dumplings (We go this because they were out of chicken shu mai. It was mushy and not flavorful. Would not order again.) - Scallion Pancake (as little soggy, but chewy and tasty.) It's not perfect, but I haven't found another Chinese take out spot as good and reliable as Chef Ming's in LA! A little on the pricy side, entrees are pretty much $16-20 but the portions are huge. I went on Christmas Eve, and the service was great. This is your yearly reminder to always leave a tip - especially on take out orders! read more

Chef Ming's Kitchen is a small chinese restaurant on the first level of a shopping plaza on Olympic and La Peer. I've ordered from Chef Ming's for over a decade, mostly takeout not delivery and have always liked the food, so this review is long overdue. In Beverly Hills, there are less than a dozen Chinese food restaurants, some fancy, some not. Chef Ming's restaurant does most of their business with takeout and delivery. The menu offers the popular Americanized Chinese food, and leans on being a tad healthier because their customers here in the Beverly Hills area prefer less greasy, less pork and lots of vegetarian options. Having lived in 90210 for decades, I've developed a preference for which places are really good, and Chef Ming's has really good Chinese food. My usual favs: Singapore spicy curry noodles with either shrimp or tofu and veggies, the hot and crispy shrimp, and the flat noodles with baby bok choy ALL delish. This place is not fancy but the food is fantastic. There's a wall of photos with celebrities and notable athletes who frequent this place for their Chinese food fix. The staff and order taker Jessica are usually serious and are always very busy but manage to get the order correct and ready. There is ample parking out in front of the restaurant and additional parking subterranean, because nobody wants a scratch or ding on their Rolls Royce or Ferrari, so there's a quasi guard to monitor mediate any parking issues. If you're craving delicious Chinese food and want takeout or delivery in the 90210 area, Chef Ming's would be one of my suggestions. Recommend! read more

I decided to buy lunch for our staff today, and my manager said she loved this place. I love fried rice, so I ordered the Hawaiian Fried Rice and the baked pork buns. The food was a little bland for my liking, but still very good. The pork bun lacked a little sweetness and the rice was good, but again lacked flavor. Luckily, they gave us the chili sauce and soy sauce. The addition of these sauces really brought out the flavor. I'm not sure, but maybe some more fish sauce would help. Parking there is very limited since it is a small strip mall. There's a parking attendant sitting outside as well. The thing I loved about Chef Ming's Kitchen was that the service was really good. The girl taking the order was very friendly, and the food was prepared very quickly. If you're ever craving Chinese food, and you're in the area, give Chef Ming's a shot.
