    涼皮 - cold noodle
    Scarlett H.

I've heard about the famous LAN-Zho noodles for quite some time, and finally made the trip to this place. It was indeed authentic, and indeed delicious! That said, this is the opposite of Americanized Chinese food so don't expect tastes like Panda Express here! The Lan Noodle is definitely their best! You have the option to order from half a dozen different kinds of noodles, kind of like an Italian restaurant offering different types of pasta with the same sauce. Fun and interesting. But the cold skin noodle (Liangpi) has a wonderful and unique texture and taste. It's great for a hot day. We also tried their Chinese burgers, but we're not so impressed. I think I will stay with noodles. Grey prices! For under $20, you get enough protein and carbs to fill you up, and maybe some to take home. Chinese restaurants are not known for their service, but this place is quite adequate. They're prompt and efficient, but don't expect them to endear you.

Oil splash noodle and dan dan noodle with cucumber side
    Rebecca T.

Pretty solid hand-pulled noodles! Got the oil splash noodle and dan dan noodle, along with cucumber side. There was also a BOGO free promotion for each dish, which was a steal! Delivery was fairly quick, and we were soon ready to dig in. The oil splash noodle was doused in chili oil and absolutely decadent; the biang biang noodles were thick and delicious. Only wished that we'd opted for spicier, as we'd just gone with mild. The dan dan noodles were my favorite, rich in sesame paste, yet had a surprisingly-strong Sichuan peppercorn kick! Definitely a numbing, tingling sensation, but I enjoyed it. Cucumbers were light on sesame oil, so I wish more was added, but the perfect, crunchy side dish to cool off from the spicy noodles. Overall, decent hand-pulled noodle shop. While nothing too mind-blowing, (especially compared to other noodle spots in town), it certainly did the trick for a take-out dinner!

Saw this place on social media so wanted to give it a try, since good Chinese food is so hard to come by in West LA. I definitely would not come back as the food was just not good, portions are tiny, and service was not great. The beef noodle soup was probably some of the worst I've had. The noodles were abnormally thick and long, there was almost no flavor, and there were barely any noodles or beef in the bowl to begin with. Not sure why they were so skimpy, but we finished our food in no time and it was not filling whatsoever. Something was off about the broth as well - didn't seem super fresh. Service could definitely be improved, and the location/ambiance are just alright.

    Watermelon drink

Fast food style mix with well handled noodles. No actual noodle crafting on display. Solid watermelon drink that they make in store, great option for a hot day or if you want a sweet break from spicy food. Food quality is hit or miss. Passive aggressive customer service. Got their braised chicken with triangle shape noodles - 3/5. The large braised chicken tasted okay. It tasted overcooked for the most part or used frozen chicken pieces that needs better handling to get optional flavor but still edible. The carrot and mushroom thoughtfully sliced, especially the mushroom - great work done there. And the triangle noodles mixed with the mildly spicy sauce was served on a flat dish. Again, really enjoyed the mushroom slice as it soaked in the sauce. The few carrot slices did not match well in taste with the rest of the food quality, threw the taste off. They nailed the noodle texture. This is suitable for the very casual dine/in and fast takeout. They have a good amount of clean space for large groups and small groups. Overall they are fast, the customer service leaves much to be desired personally but they are seemingly polite with the other diners & take out. As someone that grew up eating authentic Chinese food, this is in between Panda Express and the authentic Chinese food. Restroom? Yes, but didn't use it so I don't know what it is like. Parking? Yes, paid; plenty of paid parking in the garage below which will automatically scan your license plate and you pay via QR code available near the elevators (and all over the garage).

Lan Noodle is one of those places I keep in my back pocket when showing friends around LA, cold days, or when I'm simply craving good Chinese noodles. The staff are always super quick and friendly, the restaurant has ample seating (I've never had to wait for a table), and the food is fantastic. Be warned that they unfortunately do not have a bathroom, though. Their biggest sell for me is their house-made, hand-pulled noodles which are nicely textured and perfectly cooked in the style/shape of your choice. I tend to order their mustard green beef soup with their wide flat noodle shape. I'll have to try some of their other offerings, but can't recommend this place enough!

I tried Lan Noodle via Doordash when I was in LA last year and was super impressed. I was in the area recently but intentionally wanted to eat here. I went with my sister and she was very impressed too. My noodles tasted delicious with ample sauce. The woman who served us was nice and answered questions we had.

Lan Noodle, thin and wide noodles

I ordered the Lan Noodles for takeout through Uber Eats and enjoyed them. The noodles were just as advertised -- thin and wide. With so many different noodle options on the menu, I wasn't entirely sure which style to pick, but I was happy with my choice. The broth was light and beef-forward without being greasy, and even as takeout it arrived warm and held up well during delivery. Next time, I will definitely try to visit in person so I can enjoy the noodles fresh -- and I am looking forward to experimenting with a different style!

I ordered DoorDash from here looking for soup since I was sick and I was disappointed with the quality of the food. Firstly, I got the Lan Noodle with wide flat noodles and at mild spice because I couldn't eat something too spicy due to my sickness. The broth was decent and I liked how it wasn't too oily. I feel like it would've been better if I ordered it at a spicier level. However, the worst part was the noodles. They came separated from the broth so it wouldn't get too soggy which I appreciated, but the noodles stuck together forming a massive clump that was hard to un-do. Even when I added them to the broth, they didn't separate. I ended up have to eat the noodle clump as it is and the noodles tasted and felt gummy which was not great. They didn't seem fresh. For the next dish, I ordered the Braised Chicken Noodle with wide flat noodles and it was the same. The noodles clumped together and tasted and felt gummy. The sauce of this one was alright, but could've used more sauce. The chicken wasn't dry which I liked, but it wasn't as flavorful as I hoped. Everything came packaged together nicely and firmly which I appreciated. Overall, I generally did not enjoy the food here. Maybe it's different if I ate in-person, but I know I will not be ordering DoorDash from here in the future.

LAN Noodles was on a list for essential Chinese restaurants of LA and I can see why. The Lanzhou beef noodle soup is perfection. Tender beef in a rich beef broth that is somehow intensely flavorful yet perfectly clear. The wide flat noodles have the ideal QQ texture of hand pulled noodles. For the uninitiated, Chinese hamburgers are somewhere between an English muffin and a pita bread filled with various meats. I loved the lamb burger, which had a great flavor to it! The bread itself was very pillowy, yet held up well against the lamb. Overall, I think this might be the best beef noodle soup I've ever had! So good I forgot to take a photo before digging in.

Parking sucks. Entrance is off Formosa, first hour free, then you gotta cuss and pay. Seriously, screw this parking structure. Lan does not validate. It's $2 every hour after the first free hour. Once you park, head up the escalator (see my photo) and LAN will be on your right. Menu? Fire. Straight up northwestern China, Lanzhou style. I got the spicy beef noodle soup. First sip of broth instantly transported me back to my mom's kitchen. Noodles were perfectly "Q" (if you know, you know). Service was warm too, shoutout to Jia Jia (家家), who was super friendly. I asked for 50% less noodles with extra veg and was accommodated without issue. Docking one star though....when I boxed up my leftovers, I asked for just a tiny splash of broth to reheat later, but was told the boss doesn't allow it. Really? At $23 with tax and tip, one ladle of broth seems like a fair ask. Food's amazing, but c'mon boss, loosen up the broth policy.

Braised Chicken w Wide Flat Noodle

Why did we choose LAN Noodle? Hand pulled, wide cut noodles. We've been watching the great food truck race and have watched Good Fortune Company make these hand pulled noodles so we are looking for the best version in Los Angeles area. I think we may have found them. Lan Noodle is in West Hollywood. Plenty of parking in the structure underneath and parking is free for first hour. Service is great - they treated us like family. The server spoke Mandarin with Mom. You can also see the chef pulling the noodles for all to see. First - wide flat noodles were everything we needed them to be. Perfectly chewy, not overcooked - it was perfection. Braised chicken had incredible flavor. Chicken was perfect and the sauce was thick and savory. Paired perfectly with the wide flat noodles. Signature Lan Noodle beef soup was incredible. Broth was savory. Noodles held together nicely. It was a hot day but was perfect. Mom enjoyed her Dan Dan Noodles and she is very peculiar. Not too mustardy for her. Also- have to get the Xiao Long Bao. Perfectly prepared. 5/5, will be back.

They have a small parking lot shared among many businesses if you drive over. We were warmly greeted and service was excellent throughout the entire meal. Their Karage was so juicy & plump, cut into slices rather than the nuggets you usually see. It was so incredibly delicious with tartar sauce & a chili oil served to compliment it. What makes Laki Ramen special is their Chicken Paitan/Baitang style ramen, which is rich & creamy and more importantly chicken-based. You usually only see pork-based ramens so this is a welcome change and I love having a speciality shop like this in Los Angeles. It left me feeling less heavy than with donkatsu ramens and has a few thinly sliced chicken pieces on top. I went with the Matcha Ramen which they only serve 10 of each day! There is sometimes street parking but the availability is rough, it's tough to park, and even one of the meters we ended up at just didn't work. They only charge a $5 cash service charge though, which isn't bad. We were lucky to be seated right away, even in a packed restaurant. The restaurant has a surprisingly modern design, and is comfortable for as small as it is. We were quickly served their signature kimchis and barley rice. The kimchi, particularly the yeolmu (young summer radish) kimchi, has a unique flavor profile well suited to their food. We ordered 2 bowls of their plain kalgooksu, 1 bibim milmyun, and 1 tteokbokki. The food came out fairly quickly. The kalgooksu was as expected the star of the show. The anchovy broth brings a savory complexity that seems impossible for a soup made from just dried fish and a few other ingredients. It even has a rich, almost thick, quality to it that is surprising for a fish broth. Their noodles, the titular kalgooksu, have the signature irregularity and chew of knife cut noodles. I appreciate the vegetables that always come in kalgooksu, like potato, pumpkin, and zucchini, which offer an earthy heartiness to the light soup. My only complaint is that the potato is in huge irregular chunks, and is barely cooked, though I feel like I have had this issue with many of the kalgooksu bowls I've had over the years. The bibim milmyun was solid. I think that I prefer the texture and flavor of naengmyeon buckwheat noodles, but the milmyun, which are made with mostly wheat flour, still provide a satisfying chew. The sauce tasted bright and fresh, especially with a splash of added vinegar. It also came with a small side portion of spicy pork and some rice paper to wrap. The tteokbokki was the one let down of the meal. To be fair, I wasn't expecting much out of tteokbokki at all restaurant like this whose specialty is essentially the opposite. I ordered the tteokbokki as a "safe pick" for a picky eater in the group. It turned out to be a bit mediocre in our opinion, and that friend ended up enjoying their kalgooksu anyways. If you're looking to try this dish, it's definitely one of if not the best I've had in Southern California, so I'd totally recommend it. I'll also warn to steer clear of the Garden Grove restaurant of the same name and specialty. I think it's a disappointing mimicry of this place.

Only reason it's not 5/5 is it's not really any different from bossam elsewhere. Overall, this place is definitely worth the hype and I will be come back when I'm in the ktown area again!

I ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken with a side of rice and scallion pancakes. The popcorn chicken was very reasonably priced for the portion size and came with plenty of pieces. The scallion pancakes were priced a bit higher than I expected, but ultimately worth it. The chicken was extra crispy and well seasoned. It didn't have the familiar five-spice or cinnamon note I usually associate with Taiwanese popcorn chicken, but it was still very good in its own right. It also came with a side of sweet chili sauce, which paired well. The scallion pancakes were also a standout. Crispy on the outside, but soft, doughy, and pleasantly chewy inside without being overly oily. I would definitely order again.

Also, he didn't clean off our table very well. I had to bust out my alcohol spray and wipe the table. Oh did I mention that chicken was left on their counter just sitting there entire we were there waiting for food and when we left. Not once did the cook touch it or move it so god knows how long thy meat has been sitting there. The xai long bao was okay in taste. I've like Trader Joe's better. And I've yet to find a place comparable to DTF. I ordered some The white fish dumpling was good, but it was missing something. Still DTF is better. For the price as well. The wonton noodle soup, was okay. Noodle was bland. The wonton tasted the same as the xao long bao. The broth was so-so. The BBQ Pork Belly Buns. Those buns were hard and one bite into the thing, I spit it out. My kid did the same thing. How in the world do you mess up BBQ Pork?! I love me some hole in the walls, but sorry I wouldn't recommend this place.
